RESUMO

Hemorrhagic foci surrounding the lacune in the long-term evolution of recent single subcortical infarcts (RSSIs) remains largely unexplored. We aimed to determine the prevalence, characteristics, and predictors of hemorrhagic foci in patients with RSSI. From a prospective, longitudinal study of RSSIs, we recruited patients who underwent multimodal MRI assessments both at baseline and approximately one year after the stroke onset. Hemorrhagic foci were identified using susceptibility-weighted imaging (SWI). Among 101 patients with RSSI, nearly half (n = 45, 44.6%) had hemorrhagic foci within the index RSSI lesions on follow-up SWI. RSSIs with hemorrhagic foci formation were associated with a longer time to follow-up imaging (median 449 versus 401 days, P = 0.005) and higher likelihood of being located in the anterior circulation compared to those without hemorrhagic foci (88.9% versus 64.3%, P = 0.003). Hemorrhagic foci were also associated with larger lesion size (P < 0.001), a higher proportion of cavitation formation (P = 0.003), higher baseline NIHSS scores (P = 0.004), and poorer functional outcomes (P = 0.001). In the subset of RSSIs in the lenticulostriate artery (LSA) territory, after adjustment for covariates, larger initial lesion volume (OR 1.80, 95% CI 1.13-2.87; P = 0.014) and greater decreases in LSA total length (OR 0.59, 95% CI 0.36-0.96; P = 0.035) were independently associated with hemorrhagic foci formation. The extent of ischemia in the initial infarct is predictive of the presence of hemorrhagic residues. Our findings contribute to the current understanding of the mechanisms underlying the evolution of RSSIs.

RESUMO

Two new meroterpenoids, aspermeroterpenes D and E (1 and 2), two new ophiobolin-type sesterterpenoids, the C-18 epimers of 18,19-dihydro-18-methoxy-19-hydroxyophiobolin P (6 and 7), and two new drimane-type sesquiterpenoids, 3S-hydroxystrobilactone A (8) and 6-epi-strobilactone A (9), along with 11 known terpenoids (3-5 and 10-17) were isolated from the cultures of the algicolous fungus Aspergillus sp. RR-YLW-12, derived from the red alga Rhodomela confervoides. The structures and relative configurations of new compounds were established by detailed spectroscopic analysis of NMR and HRMS experiments, and the absolute configurations were assigned by X-ray diffraction experiments and comparison of their experimental and calculated ECD spectra. Compound 1 features a rare 6/6/6/6/5 pentacyclic system with a meroterpenoid skeleton, and the structure of terretonin E (3) was revised in this study. Compound 4 showed significant inhibitory activities against three microalgae, Prorocentrum donghaiense, Heterosigma akashiwo, and Chattonella marina, with IC50 values of 10.5, 5.2, and 3.1 µg/mL, respectively.

RESUMO

A Tf2O/DMSO-based system for the dehydrogenative coupling of a wide range of alcohols, phenols, thiols, and thiophenols with diverse phosphorus reagents has been developed. This metal- and strong-oxidant-free strategy provides a facile approach to a great variety of organophosphinates and thiophosphates. The simple reaction system, good functional-group tolerance, and broad substrate scope enable the application of this method to the modification of natural products and the direct synthesis of bioactive molecules and flame retardants.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Reconstruction of upper labial myomucosal defects is surgically challenging. AIMS: We evaluated whether central defects could be repaired using bilateral, buccinator myomucosal advancement flaps (b-BMAFs). METHODS: We evaluated five patients with early-stage, minor salivary gland mucoepidermoid carcinomas (low-grade [n = 2], intermediate-grade [n = 2], and high-grade [n = 1]) who underwent central, upper labial myomucosal reconstruction using b-BMAFs after cancer ablation. We treated two men and three women aged 25-59 years. Tumors ranged in size from 1.8 × 1.8 to 2.5 × 2.2 cm. Clinical stages were I and II in two and three patients, respectively. Defect dimensions ranged from 2.8 × 2.8 to 3.5 × 3.2 cm. RESULTS: All patients underwent successful reconstruction of central, upper labial myomucosal defects using b-BMAFs and were satisfied with the esthetic results. Adequate orbicularis oris and speech function were maintained. No reduction in mouth opening was observed. Patients were followed up for 24-36 months; one pulmonary metastasis was observed at 36 months postoperatively. CONCLUSION: Placement of b-BMAFs is safe and feasible when reconstructing central, upper labial myomucosal defects after ablation of early-stage, minor salivary gland cancer.

RESUMO

The anti-Markovnikov hydroamination reaction is considered to be a particular challenge, and one of the reactants, parent hydrazine, is also regarded as a troubling reagent. In this study, we first studied the hydrohydrazination of parent hydrazine via an effective and green catalyst-external electric field (EEF). The calculation results demonstrated that the anti-Markovnikov and Markovnikov pathways are competitive when there was no catalyst. EEF oriented along the negative direction of the X axis (F x ) accelerated the anti-Markovnikov addition reaction. Moreover, it lowered the barrier height of the first step by 16.0 kcal mol-1 (from 27.8 to 11.8 kcal mol-1) when the field strength was 180 (×10-4) au. Under the same conditions, the Markovnikov reaction pathway was inhibited, which means that EEF achieved the specificity of hydrohydrazination. The solvents are favorable for the first step addition reaction, particularly the synergy between solvents and F x lowered the barrier heights by 8.3 (C6H6) and 10.7 (DMSO) kcal mol-1 for an F x = -60 (×10-4) au. Besides, the introduction of the electron-withdrawing substituent (trifluoromethyl) is also a good strategy to catalyze hydrohydrazination, while the electron-donating group (methoxy) is unfavorable.

RESUMO

Xu et al.'s recent experimental work ( Adv. Mater. 2017, 29, 1702007) suggested that C3N is a potential candidate as Li-ion battery with unusual electrochemical characteristics. However, the obvious capacity loss (from 787.3 to 383.3 mA h·g-1) occurs after several cycles, which restricts its high performance. To understand and further solve this issue, in the present study, we have studied the intercalation processes of Li ions into C3N via first-principle simulations. The results reveal that the Li-ion theoretical capacity in pure C3N is only 133.94 mA h·g-1, the value is obviously lower than experimental one. After examining the experimental results in detail, it is found that the chemical component of the as-generated C xN structure is actually C2.67N with N excess. In this case, the calculated theoretical capacity is 837.06 mA h·g-1, while part of Li ions are irreversibly trapped in C2.67N, resulting in the capacity loss. This phenomenon is consistent with the experimental results. Accordingly, we suggest that N excess C3N, but not pure C3N, is the proposed Li-ion battery material in Xu et al.'s experiment. To solve the capacity loss issue and maintain the excellent performance of C3N-based anode material, the C3N with slightly excess C (C3.33N), which has been successfully fabricated in the experiment, is considered in view of its relatively low chemical activity as compared with N excess C3N. Our results reveal that the C excess C3N is a potential Li-ion battery material, which exhibits the low open circle voltage (0.12 V), high reversible capacity (840.35 mA h·g-1), fast charging/discharging rate, and good electronic conductivity.

RESUMO

Aluminum nitride nanotubes (AlNNTs) doped by the excess electron, e@AlNNT and M@N-AlNNT (M = Li, Na, K), have been designed and their geometrical, electronic, and nonlinear optical (NLO) properties have been explored theoretically. The results showed that the excess electron narrows the energy gap between HOMO and LUMO values (EH-L) of the doped systems in the range of 3.42-5.37 eV, which is due to a new energy level HOMO formed for the doped excess electron, with higher energy than the original HOMO of AlNNT. Importantly, the doped excess electron considerably increases the first hyperpolarizability (ß0) from 130 a.u. of the undoped AlNNT to 646 a.u. for e@AlNNT, 2606 a.u. for Li@N-AlNNT, while 1.14 × 105 a.u. for Na@N-AlNNT, and 1.37 × 106 a.u. for K@N-AlNNT. The enormous ß0 values for Na@N-AlNNT and K@N-AlNNT are attributed to the low transition energy. These results demonstrate that AlNNTs are a promising material in high-performance NLO nanomaterials for electronic devices.

RESUMO

Based on the nanofiltration mass transfer model, the enhanced separation behavior of ephedrine in organic solution was studied. In the experiment, the sensitive region of ethanol concentration and pH on the rejection of ephedrine was screened out by Box-Behnken central composite experiment design. Furthermore, to analyze the separation regularity of ephedrine and organic solution, the correlation between mass transfer coefficient and concentration of organic solvent was fitted with the changed organic solution by nanofiltration mass transfer mathematical model. Experiments showed the enhanced separation behavior, the decrease in the mass transfer coefficient while the increase in ethanol concentration from 20% to 40%, MWCO at 450 and pH 6.0. Under the same conditions, the enhanced separation behavior was appeared as the solvent changed into methanol and acetonitrile, the enhanced effect was positively correlated with the concentration of the three common organic solvents, and the effect order was acetonitrile>ethanol>methanol. This study took ephedrine as an example, and explored the mechanism of nanofiltration separation in the environment of organic solution, so as to provide references for nanofiltration separation for heat-sensitive traditional Chinese medicine of alkaloid.

RESUMO

Xinshenghua Keli is known as the "preferred prescription of postpartum", with large demand in the field of gynecologic medicine. However, the quality of the preparation is uneven in the market, so its clinical efficacy cannot be guaranteed. In order to improve and establish its quality control standard, high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) was used to establish the fingerprint of Xinshenghua Keli. The detection was performed on Agilent 5 HC-C₁₈ (2) column(4.6 mm×250 mm, 5 microns) with methanol-0.1% formic acid solution as mobile phase for gradient elution, at a flow rate of 1 mL·min⁻¹ with column temperature of 25 °C. The injection volume was 10 μL and detection wavelength was set at the maximum value between 210.0 nm and 400.0 nm by Photo-Diode Array (PDA) detector. The fingerprint of 12 batches of high-quality Xinshenghua Keli was established and 43 common peaks were identified. The similarities of crowned products, 10 batches of ordinary ones made by Jiangsu Rongyu Pharmaceutical and 10 batches produced by different manufacturers were evaluated. The composition identification and source analysis for the common peaks were performed by comparing the retention time of herbal medicines and ultraviolet absorption spectrum, along with high performance liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (HPLC-MS) technology. The established fingerprint of Xinshenghua Keli, has proven to have good precision, stability and repeatability through the methodology validation, so it can be used to comprehensively evaluate the quality of Xinshenghua Keli.

RESUMO

The interplay between the triel bond and the pnicogen bond in BF3···NCXH2···Y (X = P, As, Sb; Y = H2O, NH3) complexes was studied theoretically. Both bonds exhibited cooperative effects, with shorter binding distances, larger interaction energies, and greater electron densities found for the ternary complexes than for the corresponding binary ones. The cooperative effects between the triel bond and the pnicogen bond were probed by analyzing molecular electrostatic potentials, charge transfer, and orbital interactions. The results showed that the enhancement of the triel bond can mainly be attributed to the electrostatic interaction, while the strengthening of the pnicogen bond can be ascribed chiefly to the electrostatic and orbital interactions. In addition, the origins of both the triel bond and the pnicogen bond were deduced via energy decomposition.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the influence of the resected prostate tissue volume (RPV) on the improvement of International Prostate Symptom Score (IPSS), quality of life (QOL), and voiding function after transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP). METHODS: This study included 82 men with benign prostatic hyperplasia treated by TURP. Before and three months after TURP, we obtained the IPSS, QOL score, post-voiding residual urine volume (PVR), and maximum urinary flow rate (Qmax) from the patients. We measured the total prostate volume (TPV) and transition zone volume (TZV) by transrectal ultrasound preoperatively and investigate the influence of the RPV, RPV/TZV ratio, and RPV/TPV ratio on the efficiency of TURP. RESULTS: At three months after TURP, the mean Qmax increased by 9.27 ml/s, IPSS decreased by 15.86, QOL score increased by 3.47, PVR decreased by 87.1 ml, and 72.0% of the patients felt satisfied with the surgical results. There was no statistically significant difference in RPV between the patients satisfied and those dissatisfied with the results. Both the RPV/TPV and RPV/TZV ratios significantly increased in the satisfaction group as compared with the dissatisfaction group (P=0.002 and P=0.004). The areas under the ROC curve for the RPV/TPV and RPV/TZV ratios were 0.793 (P=0.001) and 0.687 (P=0.009), respectively. CONCLUSIONS: RPV is closely related to the short-term outcomes of TURP, and the ratios of RPV/TPV and RPV/TZV may be used as new markers to predict the outcomes of TURP.

RESUMO

Type I allergic reaction is the most common and serious one in the adverse drug reactions (ADR) of TCM injections. Skin test can be used to predict the occurrence of allergic reactions, which is a simple and effective method for safe use of TCM injections. To a certain extent, it can reduce ADR of medicine and ensure the safety of clinical medication. However, the medicine instructions of TCM injections that clearly point out the need for skin test are few, and there are many problems of skin test in clinical practice. For example, lack of systematic research on skin test, no uniform standard for clinical judgment, lack of diagnostic reagents and proprietary methods of skin test. Therefore, specifications for clinical skin test of TCM injections are needed to provide guarantee for the safe use of TCM injections.

RESUMO

Ti2C is one of the thinnest layers in MXene family with high potential for applications. In the present study, the adsorption of NH3, H2, CH4, CO, CO2, N2, NO2, and O2 on monolayer Ti2CO2 was investigated by using first-principles simulations to exploit its potential applications as gas sensor or capturer. Among all the gas molecules, only NH3 could be chemisorbed on Ti2CO2 with apparent charge transfer of 0.174 e. We further calculated the current-voltage (I-V) relation using the nonequilibrium Green's function (NEGF) method. The transport feature exhibits distinct responses with a dramatic change of I-V relation before and after NH3 adsorption on Ti2CO2. Thus, we predict that Ti2CO2 could be a promising candidate for the NH3 sensor with high selectivity and sensitivity. On the other hand, the adsorption of NH3 on Ti2CO2 could be further strengthened with the increase of applied strain on Ti2CO2, while the adsorption of other gases on Ti2CO2 is still weak under the same strain, indicating that the capture of NH3 on Ti2CO2 under the strain is highly preferred over other gas molecules. Moreover, the adsorbed NH3 on Ti2CO2 could be escapable by releasing the applied strain, which indicates the capture process is reversible. Our study widens the application of monolayer Ti2CO2 not only as the battery material, but also as the potential gas sensor or capturer of NH3 with high sensitivity and selectivity.

RESUMO

Fatty liver syndrome is a prevalent problem of farmed fish. Conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) has received increased attention recently as a fat-reducing fatty acid to control fat deposition in mammals. Therefore, the aim of the present study was to determine whether dietary CLA can reduce tissue lipid content of darkbarbel catfish (Pelteobagrus vachelli) and whether decreased lipid content is partially due to alterations in lipid metabolism enzyme activities and fatty acid profiles. A 76-day feeding trial was conducted to investigate the effect of dietary CLA on the growth, tissue lipid deposition, and fatty acid composition of darkbarbel catfish. Five diets containing 0 % (control), 0.5 % (CLA0.5), 1 % (CLA1), 2 % (CLA2), and 3 % (CLA3) CLA levels were evaluated. Results showed that fish fed with 2-3 % CLA diets showed a significantly lower specific growth rate and feed conversion efficiency than those fed with the control diet. Dietary CLA decreased the lipid contents in the liver and intraperitoneal fat with the CLA levels from 1 to 3 %. Fish fed with 2-3 % CLA diets showed significantly higher lipoprotein lipase and hepatic triacylglycerol lipase activities in liver than those of fish fed with the control, and fish fed with 1-3 % CLA diets had significantly higher pancreatic triacylglycerol lipase activities in liver than those of fish fed with the control. Dietary CLA was incorporated into liver, intraperitoneal fat, and muscle lipids, with higher percentages observed in liver compared with other tissues. Liver CLA deposition was at the expense of monounsaturated fatty acids (MUFA). In contrast, CLA deposition appeared to be primarily at the expense of MUFA and n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) in the intraperitoneal fat, whereas in muscle it was at the expense of n-3 PUFA. Our results suggested that CLA at a 1 % dose can reduce liver lipid content without eliciting any negative effect on growth rate in darkbarbel catfish. This lipid-lowering effect could be in part due to an increment in the activity of lipid metabolism enzymes and an extensive interconversion of fatty acids. Although CLA deposition in muscle (0.66-3.19 % of total fatty acids) are higher than presented in natural sources of CLA, EPA (C20:5n-3) in fish muscle appears simultaneously expendable, when the fish fed with 2-3 % CLA.
