RESUMO

We used an innovative approach involving hot pressing, low energy consumption, and no adhesive to transform bamboo biomass into a natural sustainable fiber-based biocomposite for structural and furniture applications. Analyses showed strong internal bonding through mechanical "nail-like" nano substances, hydrogen, and ester and ether bonds. The biocomposite encompasses a 10-fold increase in internal bonding strength with improved water resistance, fire safety, and environmentally friendly properties as compared to existing furniture materials using hazardous formaldehyde-based adhesives. As compared to natural bamboo material, this new biocomposite has improved fire and water resistance, while there is no need for toxic adhesives (mostly made from formaldehyde-based resin), which eases the concern of harmful formaldehyde-based VOC emission and ensures better indoor air quality. This surpasses existing structural and furniture materials made by synthetic adhesives. Interestingly, our approach can 100% convert discarded bamboo biomass into this biocomposite, which represents a potentially cost reduction alternative with high revenue. The underlying fragment riveting and cell collapse binding are obviously a new technology approach that offers an economically and sustainable high-performance biocomposite that provides solutions to structural and furniture materials bound with synthetic adhesives.

RESUMO

In order to explore the applicability of the rejuvenated asphalt with wood tar as the main raw material, the orthogonal test was used to determine the optimal ratio of wood tar-based rejuvenator. The physical properties, rheological properties and components of matrix asphalt, aged asphalt, wood tar-based rejuvenated asphalt and commercial RA-102# rejuvenated asphalt were tested and compared. The results show that the optimal ratio of wood tar-based rejuvenator is 15wt% wood tar, 0.3wt% biomass fiber, 5wt% plasticizer, 0.3wt% compatibilizer, and 1wt% stabilizer of the mass of aged asphalt. Wood tar-based rejuvenator can restore the physical properties of the aged asphalt to meet the specification requirements. The synergistic effect of biomass fiber and plasticizer make the wood tar-based rejuvenated asphalt has good resistance to accumulated permanent deformation, but its low-temperature cracking resistance needs to be further improved. During the rejuvenation process of aged asphalt, the colloidal state changes from gel-state to sol-state, characterizing that the viscosity of asphalt decreased and the fluidity increased. Wood tar-based rejuvenator can react with aged asphalt to weaken the vibration strength of carbonyl and sulfoxide groups, so as to realize the recovery of service performance. Wood tar-based rejuvenator has better environmental protection and applicability, which is worthy of further study and promotion.

RESUMO

In order to fully understand adsorption nature of Cu2+, Zn2+, Pb2+, Cd2+, Mn2+, Fe3+ onto natural diatomite, and to find problems of classical isothermal adsorption models' application in liquid/solid system, a series of isothermal adsorption tests were conducted. As results indicate, the most suitable isotherm models for describing adsorption of Pb2+, Cd2+, Cu2+, Zn2+, Mn2+, Fe3+ onto natural diatomite are Tenkin, Tenkin, Langmuir, Tenkin, Freundlich and Freundlich, respectively, the adsorption of each ion onto natural diatomite is mainly a physical process, and the adsorption reaction is favorable. It also can be found that, when using classical isothermal adsorption models to fit the experimental data in liquid/solid system, the equilibrium adsorption amount q(e) is not a single function of ion equilibrium concentration c(e), while is a function of two variables, namely c(e) and the adsorbent concentration W0, q(e) only depends on c(e)/W(0). Results also show that the classical isothermal adsorption models have a significant adsorbent effect, and their parameter values are unstable, the simulation values of parameter differ greatly from the measured values, which is unhelpful for practical use. The tests prove that four-adsorption-components model can be used for describing adsorption behavior of single ion in nature diatomite-liquid system, its parameters k and q(m) have constant values, which is favorable for practical quantitative calculation in a given system.
