RESUMO
The Schöpf-Schulz-Passarge syndrome is a rare genodermatosis with autosomal recessive transmission. It is characterized by palmoplantar keratoderma, eyelid apocrine hydrocystomas, hypodontia, hypotrichosis and hypoplastic nails. Several epithelial tumors have been described in this syndrome. This report describes a case with actinic keratoses, two tumors of the follicular infundibulum and one poroma with follicular differentiation. This is the first report of an association between the Schöpf-Schulz-Passarge syndrome and a poroma with follicular differentiation.

A 68-year-old man developed subacutely bilateral loss of visual acuity without any other neurological sign. Magnetic resonance images showed some small scattered periventricular white matter T2 hypersignals. On spinal fluid analysis a mononuclear pleocytosis and an oligoclonal gamma-pattern was found. Treatment with intravenous corticosteroids had no effect. The clinical situation deteriorated and the patient died of bronchopneumonia. Postmortem examination revealed manifest metastatic invasion of both the optic nerves by a non-detectable primary tumor.

Granulomatous gastritis is an uncommon morphological diagnosis. An etiopathogenetic diagnosis can be reached only by combining the morphological examination with clinical and laboratory investigations. The diagnosis of Whipple's disease in our patient was based upon a classical clinical picture and upon the likewise classical morphological appearance of the small intestinal mucosal biopsy. To our knowledge, this case report is the first to describe granulomatous gastritis in a patient with Whipple's disease.

It is expected that cycle control during oral contraceptive regimens may be correlated with the pattern of gradual endometrial maturation. Therefore the objective of the present study was to investigate the endometrial histology during a normophasic and a triphasic preparation. Biopsies were obtained at different intervals in the second treatment cycle from 21 women taking a triphasic pill and from 21 women taking a normophasic pill. The morphology of the endometria during the two regimens was evaluated and compared, as well as with the normal cycle histology. The study showed an early progestational effect and a rather hypoplastic growth during the triphasic regimen. The normophasic preparation was characterised by a better development and a more balanced glandular growth in proportion to the stroma, imitating the normal physiological mucosal changes very closely. From these observations it is concluded that a more reliable cycle control may be achieved by the use of this normophasic oral contraceptive as compared with the triphasic pill.

A case of perirenal lymphatic cysts demonstrated by computed tomography is reported. These lymphatic cysts, a histological subtype of lymphangiomata, are clearly visible as collections with clear fluid-type density surrounding both kidneys. The retroperitoneal localization of this rarity has been reported in the radiological literature, whereas, to our knowledge, the radiological demonstration of the perirenal localization has not. CT provides a unique method for direct radiological visualization of the cyst.

A 7 1/2 year-old boy developed pseudoprecocious puberty. The diagnosis of Leydig cell tumour was suggested by clinical and hormonal findings and greatly facilitated by ultrasonographic investigation of the testes. Surgical exploration was in keeping with the diagnosis and the tumour was removed. Orchidectomy was not necessary. It appears that ultrasonography may be very useful in diagnosing a testicular tumour. It facilitates surgical intervention since it permits localization of the lesion which is usually very small and limited to a small part of the testis, as in this case.

The comparison between clinical examination, mammography, thermography and fine needle aspiration cytology shows the usefulness of cytology in differential diagnosis of benign and malignant breast tumours. The cytology shows the real nature of benign suspicious and malignant mammographic and thermographic results. Specially in the younger patients cytology identifies early tissue changes, invisible on mammography. Application of the TNM classification shows TOT1 T2 tumours 72% of the material, with 90% positive cytologic results.
