RESUMO

Depression is a common mental health disorder. With current depression detection methods, specialized physicians often engage in conversations and physiological examinations based on standardized scales as auxiliary measures for depression assessment. Non-biological markers-typically classified as verbal or non-verbal and deemed crucial evaluation criteria for depression-have not been effectively utilized. Specialized physicians usually require extensive training and experience to capture changes in these features. Advancements in deep learning technology have provided technical support for capturing non-biological markers. Several researchers have proposed automatic depression estimation (ADE) systems based on sounds and videos to assist physicians in capturing these features and conducting depression screening. This article summarizes commonly used public datasets and recent research on audio- and video-based ADE based on three perspectives: Datasets, deficiencies in existing research, and future development directions.

RESUMO

Objective. It was a great challenge to train an excellent and generalized model on an ultra-small data set composed of multi-orientation cardiac cine magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) images. We try to develop a 3D deep learning method based on an ultra-small training data set from muti-orientation cine MRI images and assess its performance of automated biventricular structure segmentation and function assessment in multivendor.Approach. We completed the training and testing of our deep learning networks using only heart datasets of 150 cases (90 cases for training and 60 cases for testing). This datasets were obtained from three different MRI vendors and each subject included two phases of the cardiac cycle and three cine sequences. A 3D deep learning algorithm combining Transformers and U-Net was trained. The performance of the segmentation was evaluated using the Dice metric and Hausdorff distance (HD). Based on this, the manual and automatic results of cardiac function parameters were compared with Pearson correlation, intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) and Bland-Altman analysis in multivendor.Main results. The results show that the average Dice of 0.92, 0.92, 0.94 and HD95 of 2.50, 1.36, 1.37 for three sequences. The automatic and manual results of seven parameters were excellently correlated with the lowestr2 value of 0.824 and the highest of 0.983. The ICC (0.908-0.989,P< 0.001) showed that the results were highly consistent. Bland-Altman with a 95% limit of agreement showed there was no significant difference except for the difference in RVESV (P= 0.005) and LVM (P< 0.001).Significance. The model had high accuracy in segmentation and excellent correlation and consistency in function assessment. It provides a fast and effective method for studying cardiac MRI and heart disease.

INTRODUCTION: The aim of this study was to compare transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) combined with apatinib and PD-1 inhibitors (TACE-AP) with TACE combined with apatinib alone (TACE-A) in the treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) with portal vein tumor thrombus (PVTT) and to explore the prognostic factors affecting the survival of patients. METHODS: This retrospective study analyzed data of patients with HCC with PVTT who were treated with TACE-AP or TACE-A between December 2018 and June 2021. The primary end points of the study were progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS), and the secondary end points were objective response rate (ORR) and adverse events (AEs). Propensity score matching (PSM) and stabilized inverse probability weighting (sIPTW) analyses were used to reduce patient selection bias, and Cox regression analysis was used to analyze prognostic factors affecting patient survival. RESULTS: Sixty-nine and 40 patients were included in the TACE-A and TACE-AP groups, respectively. After PSM and IPTW analyses, the median PFS and median OS in the TACE-AP group were significantly higher than those in the TACE-A group (PFS: after PSM, 6.9 vs 4.0 months, P < 0.001, after IPTW, 6.5 vs 5.1 months, P < 0.001; OS: after PSM, 14.6 vs 8.5 months P < 0.001, after IPTW, 16.1 vs 10.5 months, P < 0.001). After PSM and IPTW analyses, the tumor ORR in the TACE-AP group was significantly higher than that in the TACE-A group (PSM, 53.6% vs 17.9%, P = 0.005; IPTW, 52.5% vs 28.6%, P = 0.013). All treatment-related AEs were observed to be tolerated. Multivariate Cox regression analysis showed that the main prognostic factors affecting the survival of patients were tumor number, PVTT type, alpha-fetoprotein, and treatment mode. DISCUSSION: In the treatment of patients with HCC with PVTT, TACE-AP significantly improved PFS, OS, and ORR, and the AEs were safe and controllable.

Background and Objectives: Trans-arterial chemoembolization (TACE) combined with 125I seed implantation is an effective treatment modality for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) with a portal vein tumor thrombus (PVTT). However, there are no reports on the effectiveness of radiofrequency ablation (RFA) after downstaging in such patients. This study aimed to investigate the efficacy and safety of TACE in combination with 125I seed implantation and RFA for the treatment of HCC complicated by PVTT. Methods: 49 patients diagnosed with HCC with PVTT between February 2015 and December 2016 were included. All patients were clinically or pathologically diagnosed with advanced HCC, intrahepatic lesions ≤3, and a single tumor diameter ≤70 mm, total diameter ≤100 mm. PVTT was limited to the unilateral portal vein branches. All the patients were treated with TACE combined with PVTT 125I seed implantation. The size and activity of intrahepatic lesions and PVTT were evaluated using enhanced magnetic resonance imaging 3 months after treatment, and other indicators were combined to determine the success of downstaging. Results: A total of 31 patients were successfully downstaged, while 18 patients did not achieve downstaging owing to the progression of intrahepatic lesions or PVTT activity/progression, the success rate of the downstaging was 63.27%. All 31 patients with successful downstaging underwent RFA for intrahepatic lesions. The 1-, 2-, and 3-year survival rates were 90.3%, 80.6%, and 48.4%, respectively. The median overall survival was 36 months (95% CI: 24.7-47.3). Conclusion: 125I seed implantation in combination with TACE can effectively inactivate PVTT and achieve downstaging. Furthermore, the addition of RFA can significantly improve patient survival.

Objective: We evaluated the efficacy and safety of transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) combined with apatinib plus PD-1 inhibitors (TACE-AP) compared with TACE combined with apatinib (TACE-A) in patients with advanced hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and to explore the prognostic factors affecting patient survival. Methods: Data from patients with unresectable HCC who received TACE-AP or TACE-A from December 2018 to June 2021 were collected retrospectively. The main outcome of the study was overall survival (OS) and prognostic factors affecting survival, while the secondary outcomes were progression-free survival (PFS), the objective response rate (ORR), and treatment-related adverse events (TRAEs). Propensity score matching (PSM) analysis was used to reduce patient selection bias, and the random survival forest (RF) model was employed to explore prognostic factors affecting patient survival. Results: We enrolled 216 patients, including 148 and 68 patients in the TACE-A and TACE-AP groups, respectively. A total of 59 pairs of patients were matched using PSM analysis. Before and after PSM, the OS, PFS, and ORR in the TACE-AP group were significantly higher than in the TACE-A group (before, OS: 22.5 months vs. 12.8 months, P < 0.001; PFS: 6.7 months vs. 4.3 months, P < 0.001; ORR: 63.2% vs. 34.5%, P < 0.001; after, OS: 22.5 months vs. 12.0 months, P < 0.001; PFS: 6.7 months vs. 4.3 months, P < 0.001; ORR: 62.7% vs. 30.5%, P = 0.003). Multivariate Cox regression and RF models before and after PSM analysis revealed that the main prognostic factors affecting survival were tumor number, portal vein tumor thrombus (PVTT) invasion, alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) levels, total bilirubin (TBIL) level, and treatment. There was no significant difference in TRAEs between the two groups (P > 0.05). Conclusion: Compared with TACE-A, TACE-AP significantly improved OS, PFS, and ORR in patients with advanced HCC. The number of tumors, PVTT invasion, AFP levels, TBIL level, and treatment were significant prognostic factors associated with patient survival. All observed TRAEs were mild and controllable.

Purpose: To compare the efficacy of TACE combined with sorafenib and TACE combined with 125I seed implantation in the treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) with portal vein tumor thrombus (PVTT) combined with arterioportal fistulas (APFs), and discuss the efficacy and safety of TACE combined with 125I seed implantation. Patients and methods: Between January 2017 and December 2018, the clinical data of patients with HCC complicated with PVTT and APFs who were admitted to the Affiliated Cancer Hospital of Zhengzhou University, First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University, and Henan Provincial People's Hospital were prospectively collected. The patients were divided into the TACE+sorafenib (TACE-S) group based on their treatment willingness. There were 26 and 32 patients in the TACE-S and TACE-125I groups, respectively. Both groups of patients underwent APFs occlusion during TACE therapy. The embolization effect of APFs was observed and recorded in the two groups, the efficacy of intrahepatic lesions and PVTT was evaluated, and the effects of different treatment methods on the efficacy were analysed. Results: All patients completed the 3 months follow-up. The improvement rates of APFs in TACE-S and TACE-125I groups were 30.77% (8/26) and 68.75% (22/32), respectively, and difference was statistically significant (χ2 = 8.287, P=0.004). The median survival time of TACE-S and TACE-125I groups was 8.00 months and 12.8 months, respectively (χ2 = 7.106, P=0.008). Multivariate analysis showed that the PVTT subtype (IIa/IIb) and treatment method (TACE-S or TACE-125I) were independent factors affecting the recanalization of APFs in patients (P<0.05). Conclusion: For patients with HCC with PVTT and APFs, TACE combined with 125I seed implantation can effectively treat portal vein tumor thrombus, thereby reducing the recanalization of APFs and prolonging the survival time of patients.

Objective: To explore the relationship between plasma arginase-1 (ARG1) and early transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) refractoriness in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and develop nomograms for predicting early TACE refractoriness. Methods: A total of 200 patients with HCC, treated with TACE, were included in the study, including 120 in the training set and 80 in the validation set. Pre-treatment enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay was used to detected the plasma ARG1 levels of the patient, and independent predictors of early TACE refractoriness were determined using a multivariate logistic regression model, based on which a predictive model was developed using a nomogram. Results: Risk of early TACE refractoriness was negatively correlated with plasma ARG1 levels, and multivariate logistic analysis showed tumour size (OR = 1.138, 95% CI = 1.006-1.288, P = 0.041), multiple tumors (OR=4.374, 95% CI = 1.189-16.089, P = 0.026), platelet count (OR = 0.990, 95% CI = 0.980-0.999, P = 0.036), and plasma ARG1 levels (OR = 0.209, 95% CI = 0.079-0.551, P = 0.002) to be independent prognostic factors for early TACE refractoriness.The AUC value for the nomogram of the training cohort was 0.786 (95% CI = 0.702-0.870), and the validation set AUC value was 0.833 (95% CI = 0.791-0.875).The decision curve analysis suggested that the nomogram had good clinical utility. Conclusion: High plasma ARG1 expression was associated with a lower incidence of early TACE refractoriness. The nomogram constructed based on four independent prognostic factors could facilitate an individualised prediction of the incidence of early TACE refractoriness.

Poststroke depression (PSD) does not exist before and occurs after the stroke. PSD can appear shortly after the onset of stroke or be observed in the weeks and months after the acute or subacute phase of stroke. The pathogenesis of PSD is unclear, resulting in poor treatment effects. With research advancement, immunoactive cells in the central nervous system, particularly microglia, play a role in the occurrence and development of PSD. Microglia affects the homeostasis of the central nervous system through various factors, leading to the occurrence of depression. The research progress of microglia in PSD has been summarized to review the evidence regarding the pathogenesis and treatment target of PSD in the future.

Objective: We created predictive models using machine learning algorithms for return-to-work (RTW) in patients with traumatic upper extremity injuries. Methods: Data were obtained immediately before patient discharge and patients were followed up for 1 year. K-nearest neighbor, logistic regression, support vector machine, and decision tree algorithms were used to create our predictive models for RTW. Results: In total, 163 patients with traumatic upper extremity injury were enrolled, and 107/163 (65.6%) had successfully returned to work at 1-year of follow-up. The decision tree model had a lower F1-score than any of the other models (t values: 7.93-8.67, p < 0.001), while the others had comparable F1-scores. Furthermore, the logistic regression and support vector machine models were significantly superior to the k-nearest neighbors and decision tree models in the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (t values: 6.64-13.71, p < 0.001). Compared with the support vector machine, logistical regression selected only two essential factors, namely, the patient's expectation of RTW and carrying strength at the waist, suggesting its superior efficiency in the prediction of RTW. Conclusion: Our study demonstrated that high predictability for RTW can be achieved through use of machine learning models, which is helpful development of individualized vocational rehabilitation strategies and relevant policymaking.

Active exercise for upper limb training has been widely used to improve hemiplegic upper limb function, and its effect may be boosted by extrinsic visual feedback. The passive movement of the hemiplegic upper limb is also commonly used. We conducted a functional near-infrared spectroscopy experiment to compare cortical activation during the following three conditions: active left upper limb movement (on the hemiplegic sides in stroke patients), with or without extrinsic motor performance visual feedback (LAV, LAnV), and passive left upper limb movement (hemiplegic sides in stroke patients) (LP) in stroke patients and healthy controls. Twenty patients with right hemispheric stroke and 20 healthy controls were recruited for this study. Hemodynamic changes were detected during left upper limb movements (on the hemiplegic sides in stroke patients) under the above three conditions in the sensorimotor cortex (SMC), supplementary motor area (SMA), and premotor cortex (PMC). There was no significant difference in the level of cortical activation between patients with stroke and healthy subjects during the three conditions. Both the LAV and LAnV induced significantly higher activation in the contralateral SMA and PMC than in the LP. Extrinsic visual feedback led to additional activation in the contralateral PMC and SMA, but this was not statistically significant. Our study indicates that active upper-limb movement appears to induce higher cortical activation than that elicited by passive movement in both stroke patients and the healthy population. Extrinsic motor performance in the form of visual feedback provided during active movement may facilitate sensorimotor areas over the contralateral hemisphere.

Transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) is generally used to treat patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), a common and deadly cancer; however, its efficacy varies according to factors such as tumor volume, stage, serum alpha-fetoprotein level, and chosen feeding artery. In addition, gene-related factors have been recently suggested to be involved in the regulation and prediction of TACE outcomes. Accordingly, genes could serve as effective biomarkers to select patients who can benefit from TACE. These gene-related factors can activate signaling pathways affecting cancer cell survival while regulating the epithelial-mesenchymal transition, angiogenesis, and the tumor microenvironment, all directly associated with tumor progression, thereby affecting TACE efficacy. Moreover, this disordered gene expression is associated with poor prognosis in patients with HCC, including TACE resistance, postoperative recurrence, and metastasis. To identify the exact relationship between various genes and TACE efficacy, this review summarizes the involvement of protein-coding and non-coding genes and single nucleotide polymorphisms in TACE efficacy for predicting the efficacy of TACE; the present findings may help improve the efficacy of TACE in clinical settings.

BACKGROUND: Peripheral nerve injury can result in both sensory and motor deficits, and these impairments can last for a long period after nerve repair. OBJECTIVE: To systematically review the effects of sensory re-education (SR) on facilitating hand function recovery after peripheral nerve repair. METHODS: This systematic review was limited to articles published from 1970 to 20 December 2020. Electronic searching was performed in CINAHL, Embase, PubMed, Web of Science, and Medline databases to include trials investigating the effects of SR training on hand function recovery after peripheral nerve repair and included only those studies with controlled comparisons. RESULTS: Sixteen articles were included in final data synthesis. We found that only four studies could be rated as having good quality and noted obvious methodological limitations in the remaining studies. The current evidence showed that early SR with mirror visual feedback and the combinational use of classic SR and topical temporary anesthetic seemed to have long- and short-term effects, respectively on improving the sensibility and reducing the disabilities of the hand. The evidence to support the effects of conventional classical SR on improving hand functions was not strong. CONCLUSIONS: Further well-designed trials are needed to evaluate the effects of different SR techniques on hand function after nerve repair over short- and long-term periods.

It is known that LGR4 plays an important role in hair follicle (HF) development, but the impact of LGR4 on the hair cycle is still unclear. In this study, we have found that K14-Cre-mediated skin epithelia-specific deletion of Lgr4 results in delayed anagen entry during the physiological hair cycle and compromised HF regeneration upon transplantation. We show that, although Lgr4 deletion does not appear to affect the number of quiescent HF stem cells, it leads to reduced numbers of LGR5+ and actively proliferating stem cells in the HFs. Moreover, LGR4-deficient HFs show molecular changes consistent with decreased mTOR and Wnt signaling but upregulated BMP signaling. Importantly, the reactivation of the protein kinase B pathway by injecting the protein kinase B activator SC79 in Lgr4-/- mice can effectively reverse the hair cycle delay. Together, these data suggest that LGR4 promotes the normal hair cycle by activating HF stem cells and by influencing the activities of multiple signaling pathways that are known to regulate HF stem cells. Our study also implicates LGR4 as a potential target for treating hair disorder in the future.

Seed germination plays important roles in the establishment of seedlings and their subsequent growth; however, seed germination is inhibited by salinity, and the inhibitory mechanism remains elusive. Our results indicate that NaCl treatment inhibits rice seed germination by decreasing the contents of bioactive gibberellins (GAs), such as GA1 and GA4, and that this inhibition can be rescued by exogenous bioactive GA application. To explore the mechanism of bioactive GA deficiency, the effect of NaCl on GA metabolic gene expression was investigated, revealing that expression of both GA biosynthetic genes and GA-inactivated genes was up-regulated by NaCl treatment. These results suggest that NaCl-induced bioactive GA deficiency is caused by up-regulated expression of GA-inactivated genes, and the up-regulated expression of GA biosynthetic genes might be a consequence of negative feedback regulation of the bioactive GA deficiency. Moreover, we provide evidence that NaCl-induced bioactive GA deficiency inhibits rice seed germination by decreasing α-amylase activity via down-regulation of α-amylase gene expression. Additionally, exogenous bioactive GA rescues NaCl-inhibited seed germination by enhancing α-amylase activity. Thus, NaCl treatment reduces bioactive GA content through promotion of bioactive GA inactivation, which in turn inhibits rice seed germination by decreasing α-amylase activity via down-regulation of α-amylase gene expression.

The 1064-nm Q-switched Nd:YAG laser is demonstrated to be effective for non-ablative skin rejuvenation, but the molecular mechanism by which dermis responses to laser-induced damage and initiates skin remodeling is still unclear. HaCaT cells and 3T3 skin fibroblasts were irradiated with the 1064-nm Q-switched Nd:YAG laser at the different doses. Then, cells were collected and lysed for PCR and Western blot analysis. Cell viability was detected by Cell Counting Kit-8 (CCK-8) before and after laser irradiation. The expressions of S100A8, advanced glycosylation end product-specific receptor (RAGE) and inflammatory cytokines in two cell lines were markedly upregulated after laser treatments. The PCR, Western blot, and ELISA analysis showed the significant increase of type I and III procollagen in the 3T3 cells treated with the 1064-nm laser. Interestingly, si S100A8 effectively inhibited the expression of cytokines and collagen, while S100A8 treatments significantly increased them. P-p38 and p-p65 levels were also elevated after the 1064-nm laser irradiation, which is positively related with S100A8. Cell viability and reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels were not changed, while the content of superoxidase dismutase (SOD) in two cells was increased after laser irradiation. Our results demonstrated that the overexpression of S100A8 induced by the 1064-nm laser irradiation triggered inflammatory reactions in skin cells. The inflammatory microenvironment and improvement of skin antioxidant capacity contribute to new collagen synthesis in the skin cells. Thus, S100A8 was required for laser-induced new collagen synthesis in skin cells. p38/MAPK and NF-κB signal pathways were involved in S100A8-mediated inflammatory reactions in response to laser irradiation.

Eimeria tenella is an obligate intracellular parasite that actively invades cecal epithelial cells of chickens. The basis of cell invasion is not completely understood, but some key molecules of host cell invasion have been discovered. This paper investigated the characteristics of calcium-dependent protein kinase 4 (EtCDPK4), a critical molecule in E. tenella invasion of host cells. A full-length EtCDPK4 cDNA was identified from E. tenella using rapid amplification of cDNA ends. EtCDPK4 had an open reading frame of 1803 bp encoding a protein of 600 amino acids. Quantitative real-time PCR and western blotting were used to explore differences in EtCDPK4 transcription and translation in four developmental stages of E. tenella. EtCDPK4 was expressed at higher levels in sporozoites, but translation was higher in second-generation merozoites. In vitro invasion inhibition assays explored whether EtCDPK4 was involved in invasion of DF-1 cells by E. tenella sporozoites. Polyclonal antibodies against recombinant EtCDPK4 (rEtCDPK4) inhibited parasite invasion, decreasing it by approximately 52%. Indirect immunofluorescence assays explored EtCDPK4 distribution during parasite development after E. tenella sporozoite invasion of DF-1 cells in vitro. The results showed that EtCDPK4 might be important in sporozoite invasion and development. To analyze EtCDPK4 functional domains according to the structural characteristics of EtCDPK4 and study the kinase activity of rEtCDPK4, an in vitro phosphorylation system was established. We verified that rEtCDPK4 was a protein kinase that was completely dependent on Ca2+ for enzyme activity. Specific inhibitors of rEtCDPK4 activity were screened by kinase activity in vitro. Some specific inhibitors were applied to assays of DF-1 cell invasion by E. tenella sporozoites to confirm that the inhibitors functioned in vitro. W-7, H-7, H-89, and myristoylated peptide inhibited DF-1 invasion by E. tenella sporozoites. The experimental results showed that EtCDPK4 may be involved in E. tenella invasion of chicken cecal epithelial cells.

BACKGROUND: Silent information regulator 2 (SIR2) proteins are a family of NAD + -dependent protein deacetylases that are considered potential targets for anti-parasitic agents. In this study, we cloned and characterized SIR2A of the protozoan parasite Eimeria tenella (EtSIR2A) and investigated its protective efficacy as a DNA vaccine. METHODS: The EtSIR2A gene encoding 33.37 kDa protein from E. tenella second-generation merozoites was cloned, and recombinant EtSIR2A protein (rEtSIR2A) was produced in an Escherichia coli expression system. The rEtSIR2A was used to immunize rabbits. Anti-rEtSIR2A antibodies were used to determine the immunolocolization of EtSIR2A in the parasite by immunofluorescence assay (IFA). Transcript and protein expression of EtSIR2A in different development stages of E. tenella were observed by quantitative real-time PCR (qPCR) and western blot (WB) analysis, respectively. The recombinant plasmid pCAGGS-EtSIR2A was constructed and its efficacy against E. tenella infection in chickens was evaluated. RESULTS: qPCR and WB analysis revealed EtSIR2A expression was developmentally regulated at both the mRNA and protein levels. EtSIR2A mRNA levels were higher in unsporulated oocysts than at other developmental stages, including sporulated oocysts, sporozoites and second-generation merozoites. In contrast, EtSIR2A protein expression levels were highest in second-generation merozoites, moderate in unsporulated oocysts and sporulated oocysts and lowest in sporozoites. Immunostaining with anti-rEtSIR2A antibody indicated that EtSIR2A was mainly located in the cytoplasm of sporozoites and second-generation merozoites, and was strongly expressed during first stage schizogony. Animal-challenge experiments demonstrated that immunization with pCAGGS-EtSIR2A significantly increased average body-weight gain, and decreased mean lesion score and oocyst output in chickens. CONCLUSIONS: These results suggest that EtSIR2A may play an important role in parasite cell survival and may be an effective candidate for the development of new vaccines against E. tenella infection in chickens.

Parasites are ubiquitous members of biotic communities. To investigate the infective status of helminth parasites in Pelophylax nigromaculatus from Shanghai, 90 frogs were collected from July 2013 to July 2014 and examined for the presence of internal parasites. Of these, 86.67% (78/90) of frogs were infected with parasites, the total helminth intensity within infected frogs ranged from 1 to 367, and the mean intensity was 28.49. The infection rates and intensities were 78.89% and 22.89 for trematodes, 50.00% and 5.24 for nematodes, 13.33% and 3.92 for cestodes, and 41.11% and 8.49 for acanthocephalas, respectively. The majority (60.04%) of parasites were parasitic in the intestine, followed by urinary bladder (24.8%) and lungs (7.38%). Based on morphological features, 13 different species of helminth, including 9 undetermined species, were identified. The infective status of different species was significantly different. The most prevalent species were Diplodiscus nigromaculati (64.44%), Diplodiscus sp. (37.78%), Pomphorhynchus sp. (35.56%), Strongyloides sp. (33.33%). The mean infection intensity of Diplorchis nigromaculatus (139.25) was higher than the others' species ranged from 3.57-14.63. This is the first reported discovery of Pomphorhynchus sp. (Pomphorhynchidae Yamaguti, 1939) in frogs from China. These data provide the foundation for further analyses of parasites in this and other species of amphibians.
