RESUMO

OBJECTIVES: To observe the effect of electroacupuncture (EA) on the Wnt/ß-catenin signaling pathway and epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT)-related proteins in rats with intrauterine adhesions (IUA), so as to explore the possible mechanisms of EA in repairing endometrial damage in IUA. METHODS: Female SD rats were randomly divided into blank, model, EA, and ICG-001 groups, with 10 rats in each group. The IUA model was established by using mechanical scraping combined with lipopolysaccharide infection for double injury. In the EA group, "Guanyuan" (CV4) was needled and EA (2 Hz/15 Hz, 1-2 mA) was applied to "Zusanli" (ST36) and "Sanyinjiao"(SP6) on both sides. In the ICG-001 group, ICG-001 (5 mg/kg), the inhibitor of ß-catenin was intraperitoneally injected. After intervention, samples were taken from 5 rats in each group, and uterine endometrium morphology, endometrial thickness, and gland counts were observed using HE staining. Masson staining was used to assess the degree of fibrosis in the endometrial tissue. Immunohistochemistry was used to detect the positive expression of transforming growth factor ß1 (TGF-ß1), α-smooth muscle actin (α-SMA), fibronectin (FN), connective tissue growth factor (CTGF), type I collagen (Col- Ⅰ), glycogen synthase kinase-3ß (GSK-3ß), ß-catenin, E-cadherin, N-cadherin, and Vimentin in the endometrial tissue. Western blot was used to detect the relative expression of GSK-3ß, ß-catenin, E-cadherin, N-cadherin, and Vimentin proteins in the endometrial tissue. Another 5 rats from each group were placed in cages with male rats after intervention to record the number of embryo implantations. RESULTS: Necrosis and loss of endometrial tissue in the model group observed after HE staining were alleviated in the EA group, better than those in the ICG-001 group. Compared with the blank group, the numbers of glands and endometrial thickness in the uterine endometrial tissue, relative expression and positive expression of E-cadherin and GSK-3ß proteins in the uterine endometrial tissue, and embryo implantation numbers were reduced(P<0.000 1, P<0.001, P<0.01) in the model group, while fibrosis area ratio in the uterine endometrial tissue, TGF- ß 1, α -SMA, FN, CTGF, Col- Ⅰ positive expressions, N-cadherin, Vimentin, and ß-catenin proteins expression and positive expression were increased(P<0.000 1, P<0.001, P<0.01). Compared with the model group, the number of glands and endometrial thickness, E-cadherin and GSK-3ß proteins expression and positive expression, and embryo implantation numbers were increased (P<0.001, P<0.05, P<0.01) in the EA and ICG-001 groups, while the fibrosis area ratio in the uterine endometrial tissue, TGF-ß1, α-SMA, FN, CTGF, Col- Ⅰ positive expression, and N-cadherin, Vimentin, and ß-catenin proteins expression and positive expression were decreased(P<0.001, P<0.01, P<0.05). Compared with the EA group, the differences of the above-mentioned indicators in the ICG-001 group were not statistically significant. CONCLUSIONS: EA may reverse the EMT process and reduce the degree of fibrosis in endometrial tissue by inhibiting the Wnt/ß-catenin signaling pathway, thereby promoting the repair of endometrial damage in IUA.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVES: To observe the effect of electroacupuncture(EA) on endometrial fibrosis and M1-type macrophages in rats with intrauterine adhesions(IUA), so as to explore the possible mechanism of EA in the treatment of IUA. METHODS: Fifteen female SD rats were randomly divided into blank group, model group and EA group, with 5 rats in each group. The IUA rat model was established by double damage method using mechanical scraping combined with lipopolysaccharide infection. Rats in the EA group were treated with acupuncture at "Guanyuan"(CV4), and EA at bilateral "Zusanli"(ST36) and "Sanyinjiao"(SP6)for 20 minutes each time, once a day, for 3 consecutive cycles of estrus. Five rats in each group were sampled during the estrous period, and the endometrial morphology, endometrial thickness and the number of blood vessels and glands were observed after HE staining. The fibrotic area of the uterus was observed after Masson staining. The positive expressions of Runt-related transcription factor(RUNX1), transforming growth factor-ß1(TGF-ß1), connective tissue growth factor(CTGF), α-smooth muscle actin(α-SMA), collagen type I(Col-Ⅰ), cluster of differentiation 86(CD86), interleukin-1ß(IL-1ß), and tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α) in endometrial tissue were detected by immunohistochemistry. Western blot was used to detect relative protein expressions of RUNX1, TGF-ß1, α-SMA, CD86, and TNF receptor 2 (TNFR2), and real-time fluorescence quantitative PCR was used to detect mRNA expressions of RUNX1, TGF-ß1, α-SMA, CD86, and TNF-α in the endometrium. RESULTS: During the estrous phase, the endometrial layer in the model group was damaged, with reduced folds, disordered arrangement of epithelial cells, loose fibrous connective tissue, significant narrowing and adhesions in the uterine cavity, interstitial congestion, edema, and a significant infiltration of inflammatory cells with sparse glands. While uterine tissue structure of the EA group was basically intact, resembling a normal uterus, with more newly formed glands and a small amount of inflammatory cell infiltration. In comparison with the blank group, the endometrial thickness, the number of blood vessels, and the number of glands were significantly decreased(P<0.001) in the model group, while the ratio of uterine fibrosis area, the positive expressions of RUNX1, TGF-ß1, CTGF, α-SMA, Col-Ⅰ, CD86, IL-1ß, and TNF-α, the protein relative expressions of RUNX1, TGF-ß1, α-SMA, CD86 and TNFR2, and the mRNA relative expression levels of RUNX1, TGF-ß1, α-SMA, CD86 and TNF-α in the endometrium were significantly increased (P<0.001, P<0.01). Compared to the model group, the endometrial thickness, the number of blood vessels, and the number of glands were significantly increased(P<0.01, P<0.05) in the EA group, while the ratio of uterine fibrosis area, the positive expressions of RUNX1, TGF-ß1, CTGF, α-SMA, Col-Ⅰ, CD86, IL-1ß and TNF-α in the endometrial tissue, the protein expressions of RUNX1, TGF-ß1, α-SMA, CD86 and TNFR2, and the mRNA relative expressions of RUNX1, TGF-ß1, α-SMA, CD86 and TNF-α in the endometrium were significantly decreased (P<0.001, P<0.01, P<0.05). CONCLUSIONS: EA can improve endometrial fibrosis in IUA rats, which may be related to its function in decreasing the level of endometrial M1-type macrophages and the secretion of related inflammatory factors.

RESUMO

Precise imaging-guided therapy of a pulmonary metastasis tumor is of great significance for tumor management and prognosis. Persistent luminescence nanoparticles (PLNPs) are promising probes due to their in situ excitation-free and low-background imaging characteristics. However, most of the PLNP-based probes cannot intelligently distinguish between normal and tumor tissues or balance the needs of targeted accumulation and rapid metabolism, resulting in false positive signals and potential side effects. Besides, the luminescence intensity of single-emissive PLNPs is affected by external factors. Herein, we report a self-evolving double-emissive PLNP-based nanoprobe ZGMC@ZGC-TAT for pulmonary metastatic tumor imaging and therapy. Acid-degradable green-emitting PLNPs (ZGMC) with good afterglow performance and therapeutic potential are synthesized by systematic optimization of dopants. Ultra-small red-emitting PLNPs (ZGC) are then prepared as imaging and reference probes. The two PLNPs are finally covalently coupled and further modified with a cell-penetrating peptide (TAT) to obtain ZGMC@ZGC-TAT. Dual emission ensures a stable luminescence ratio (I700/I537) independent of probe concentration, test voltage and time gate. ZGMC degrades and phosphorescence disappears in a tumor microenvironment (TME), resulting in an increase in I700/I537, thus enabling tumor-specific ratiometric imaging. Cu2+ and Mn2+ released by ZGMC degradation achieve GSH depletion and enhance CDT, effectively inhibiting tumor cell proliferation. Meanwhile, the size of ZGMC@ZGC-TAT decreases sharply, and the resulting ZGC-TAT further causes nuclear pyknosis and quickly clear metabolism. The developed ZGMC@ZGC-TAT turns non-targeted lung aggregation of nanomaterials into a unique advantage, and integrates TME-triggered phosphorescence and size self-evolution, and on-demand therapeutic functions, showing outstanding prospects in precise imaging and efficient treatment of pulmonary metastatic tumors.

RESUMO

Purpose: Polyacrylamide hydrogel (PAHG), which had been used widely for breast augmentation, has been banned for more than 15 years. Patients who had been injected PAHG for breast augmentation need evacuation surgery to remove as much as possible. To provide a series of diagnosis and treatment process MRI and intraoperative color Doppler ultrasound are combined for maximal removal of PAHG. Methods: The patients who received evacuation surgery in Peking University Third Hospital from 2010 to 2022 after PAHG injection for breast augmentation were included in this research. MR scanning was performed preoperatively and postoperatively in some of these patients and color Doppler ultrasound was applied to help evacuate PAHG intraoperatively. The mean clearance rate of PAHG was calculated according to the MRI outcomes. Results: Two hundred and 4 patients had received evacuation surgery after PAHG injection for breast augmentation with an average age of 42.8 years and an average body mass index of 21.2 kg/m2. The average PAHG retention time was 13.5 years. Among them, 52 patients underwent pre- and postoperative MRI scanning. The mean three-dimensional (3D) volume of PAHG was 684.8 mL (range, 350.0-1,123.9 mL), and the average residual 3D volume of PAHG was 53.7 mL (range, 12.4-98.3 mL). The mean clearance rate was 92.1%. Conclusion: MRI and intraoperative color Doppler ultrasound can provide effective and precise location information of PAHG for evacuation surgery, which is a reliable method to ensure the maximal removal of PAHG.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVES: To investigate the effects of electroacupuncture(EA) combined with bone marrow mesen-chymal stem cells(BMSCs) transplantation on the endometrium of rats with intrauterine adhesions(IUA), so as to explore the possible mechanisms underlying their combined therapeutic effects. METHODS: Forty adult female SD rats were randomly divided into control, model, cell, and combined groups. The IUA rat model was established using a dual injury method of mechanical scratching and lipopolysaccharide infection. After successful modeling, on days 1, 3, and 7, rats in the model group received tail vein injection of phosphate buffered solution, while rats in the cell group received tail vein injection of BMSCs suspension for BMSCs transplantation;and rats in the combined group received BMSCs transplantation combined with EA treatment (2 Hz/15 Hz, 1-2 mA), targeting the "Guanyuan"(CV4), bilateral "Zusanli"(ST36) and "Sanyinjiao"(SP6) for 20 min daily for 3 consecutive estrous cycles. After intervention, uterine tissue was collected from 5 rats in each group. Histological analysis was performed using hematoxylin and eosin staining to evaluate endometrial thickness and glandular number. Masson staining was used to assess endometrial fibrosis area. Immunohistochemistry was performed to detect the positive expressions of vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF), proliferating cell nuclear antigen(PCNA), and estrogen receptor(ER). Western blot analysis was conducted to determine the protein expressions of homeobox A10(HoxA10) and leukemia inhibitory factor(LIF), both key regulators of endometrial receptivity. The remaining 5 rats in each group were co-housed with male rats, and the uterine function recovery was evaluated by assessing the number of embryo implantations. RESULTS: Compared with the control group, the model group showed thinning endometrium(P<0.001), decreased glandular number(P<0.001), increased endometrial fibrosis area(P<0.001), reduced positive expressions of VEGF, PCNA, ER, expressions of HoxA10 and LIF, and decreased embryo implantation number (P<0.001) on the injured side of the uterus. Compared with the model group, the combined group showed a reversal of the aforementioned indicators(P<0.001, P<0.01);the cell group exhibited thicker endometrium(P<0.001) and reduced endometrial fibrosis area(P<0.001). Compared with the cell group, the combined group showed increased endometrial thickness(P<0.01), elevated glandular number(P<0.05), significantly decreased endometrial fibrosis area(P<0.05), enhanced positive expressions of VEGF, PCNA and ER, expressions of HoxA10 and LIF in the endometrium, and a significant increase in embryo implantation number (P<0.001, P<0.05, P<0.01) on the injured side of the uterus, indicating better results than the cell group. CONCLUSIONS: The combination of EA and BMSCs synergistically promotes the repair of damaged endometrium, improves endometrial morphology, reduces fibrosis levels, enhances vascular regeneration and matrix cell proliferation, improves endometrial receptivity, which ultimately facilitates embryo implantation.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To estimate the performance of the FibroTouch-based ultrasound attenuation parameter (UAP) for assessing hepatic steatosis in nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), with magnetic resonance imaging proton density fat fraction (MRI-PDFF) as the reference standard. METHODS: This prospective, cross-sectional study included 275 individuals in the training group and 110 individuals in the validation group, all of whom completed a standardized research visit, laboratory tests, MRI-PDFF, and UAP measurements over 1 month. Pearson correlation coefficient and Bland-Altman analysis were used to assess the agreement between UAP and MRI-PDFF for the detection of hepatic steatosis. The diagnostic value of UAP was evaluated by the area under the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve (AUROC). Confounding factors to UAP performance were identified by ROC curves and regression analyses. RESULTS: The AUROC of UAP for detecting MRI-PDFF at ≥5%, ≥10%, and ≥20% were 0.95 (95% confidence interval [CI] 0.92-0.97), 0.86 (95% CI 0.81-0.90), and 0.90 (95% CI 0.86-0.93), respectively, and their optimal thresholds were 259, 274, and 295 dB/m, respectively. The UAP measurements had higher diagnostic accuracy in participants with lower waist circumference (≤90 cm for men and ≤80 cm for women) compared to those with higher waist circumference (AUROC values: 0.97 vs 0.84, P < 0.05). Bland-Altman analysis showed good agreement between UAP and MRI-PDFF (bias 0.00021). According to established regression analyses, hepatic steatosis could be accurately diagnosed using UAP estimation. CONCLUSIONS: FibroTouch-UAP has a high diagnostic potential for hepatic steatosis in NAFLD patients and helps clinical assessment and monitoring.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVES: Laser lithotripsy under fluoroscopic guidance is difficult to perform and risky due to its invisibility. In this study we aimed to investigate the efficacy and safety of a novel endoscopic auxiliary system (NEAS)-assisted lithotripsy under fluoroscopy for treating difficult common bile duct (CBD) stones. METHODS: Patients with difficult CBD stones who were treated with NEAS-assisted laser lithotripsy (NEAS group) or conventional mechanical lithotripsy (ML) under fluoroscopy (ML group) were retrospectively evaluated. The primary outcome was the complete stone clearance rate and the secondary outcomes included operation time, complications, and medical cost. RESULTS: Seventeen patients were treated with NEAS-assisted laser lithotripsy and 144 patients underwent ML. Using the propensity score matching analysis, 17 pairs of cases treated with NEAS-assisted lithotripsy and ML were included. Patients in the NEAS group showed a higher stone clearance rate than the ML group (94.1% vs 58.8%, P = 0.039), as well as shorter operation time (41.9 min vs 49.4 min, P < 0.001) and lower medical cost (USD 4607 vs USD 5014, P < 0.001). There was no significant difference in the complication rate between the two groups (5.9% vs 17.6%, P = 0.601). CONCLUSION: NEAS-assisted fluoroscopy-guided laser lithotripsy is feasible and safe, which may be a promising technique in fluoroscopy-guided laser lithotripsy for difficult CBD stones.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: It is to explore, based on stromal cell derived factor 1 (SDF-1)/CXC chemokine receptor 4 (CXCR4) signal axis, whether the electroacupuncture (EA) combined with bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) transplantation can promote thin endometrium regeneration and improve endometrial receptivity, so as to further study its mechanisms underlying improvement of promoting BMSCs homing to repair thin endometrium. METHODS: Thirty matured female SD rats were randomly divided into normal control , model , BMSCs transplantation (BMSCs), BMSCs+AMD3100 (a specific antagonist of CXCR4, BMSCs+AMD3100), BMSCs+EA, and BMSCs+EA+AMD3100 groups, with 5 rats in each group. The thin endometrial model was established by intrauterine injection of 95% ethanol during the period of estrus. Rats of the model group received intravenous injection of PBS solution (tail vein) on day 1, 3 and 7 of modeling and intraperitoneal injection of normal saline once daily for 3 estrous cycles. Rats of the BMSCs group received intravenous injection of BMSCs suspension on day 1,3 and 7 of modeling, and those of the BMSCs+EA group received BMSCs transplantation and EA stimulation. EA (2 Hz/15 Hz, 1 mA) was applied to "Guanyuan" (CV4) and bilateral "Sanyinjiao"(SP9), "Zigong" (EX-CA1) for 15 min, once daily for 3 estrous cycles. Rats of the BMSCs+AMD3100 group received intravenous injection of BMSCs suspension (1×106/mL) and intraperitoneal injection of AMD3100 (5 mg/kg), and those of the BMSCs+EA+AMD3100 group received administration of BMSCs, AMD3100 and EA, with both groups being once daily for 3 estrous cycles. H.E. staining was used to observe histopathological changes of endometrium tissues, and immunohistochemistry was used to detect the expressions of cytokeratin (CK19) and vimentin in endometrium (for evaluating the damage and repair of endometrium). The expression levels of homeobox A10 (HOXA10), leukemia inhibitory factor (LIF), SDF-1 and CXCR4 proteins were detected by Western blot, and those of SDF-1 and CXCR4 mRNAs in the endometrium detected by real-time PCR. RESULTS: In comparison with the normal control group, the number of endometrial glands, the immunoactivity of CK19 and vimentin, the expression leve-ls of HOXA10, LIF and CXCR4 proteins and CXCR4 mRNA were significantly down-regulated (P<0.01), and the expression levels of SDF-1 protein and mRNA significantly up-regulated (P<0.05) in the model group. Compared with the model group, the number of endometrial glands, the immunoactivity of CK19 and vimentin, and the expression levels of HOXA10, LIF, CXCR4 proteins and CXCR4 mRNA in the BMSCs group, and the number of endometrial glands, the immunoactivity of CK19 and vimentin, the expression levels of HOXA10, LIF, CXCR4 proteins and CXCR4 mRNA, and SDF-1 protein and mRNA in the BMSCs+EA group were significantly up-regulated (P<0.05, P<0.01). Compared to the BMSCs group, the number of endometrial glands, and the expression levels of LIF, CXCR4 proteins and CXCR4 mRNA in the BMSCs+EA group were up-regulated (P<0.01, P<0.05); the number of endometrial glands, the immunoactivity of CK19 and vimentin, the expression levels of HOXA10, LIF, CXCR4 proteins and CXCR4 mRNA in the BMSCs+AMD3100 group were down-regulated (P<0.01). Compared to the BMSCs+EA group, the number of endometrial glands, the immunoactivity of CK19 and vimentin, the expression levels of HOXA10, LIF, CXCR4 proteins and CXCR4 mRNA in the BMSCs+EA+AMD3100 group were down-regulated (P<0.01). Results of H.E. staining showed thin endometrium with absence of epithelial cells, and sparse glands and blood vessels, with smaller glandular cavity in the model group, which was relative milder in BMSCs and BMSCs+EA groups. CONCLUSION: EA can promote the transfer of transplanted BMSCs to the damaged site through SDF-1/CXCR4 signaling related stem cell homing, thereby promoting thin endometrial regeneration, repairing endometrial injury, and improving endometrial tolerance in rats with thin endometrium.

RESUMO

PURPOSE: To explore the effect of epinephrine mixed with local anaesthetic injection on blood flow control in early stage arteriovenous malformation (AVM) and explore suitable cases. METHODS: Twenty-five patients with early stage (Schobinger clinical stage I/II) AVM were selected between September 2019 and March 2022. Local anaesthetics containing epinephrine were injected around the nourishing artery and into lesions under the guidance of ultrasound, and the blood flow distribution grade in the lesions as well as the changes in diameter, peak systolic velocity (PSV), and resistance index (RI) of the nourishing arteries and vessels in the lesions were observed to determine the type of AVM suitable for epinephrine injection. After blood flow was controlled, sclerosant agents were injected into the lesions for sclerotherapy. RESULTS: After local injection of the epinephrine mixture, the blood flow distribution in the lesion decreased by one to three grades; the diameter and PSV also decreased, while RI increased. There were statistically significant differences before and after the injection (P < 0.05). The efficacy of the injection was 80% (20/25), especially in patients with lesion vessels, a nourishing artery lumen diameter <2 mm, and a PSV <40 cm/s in the lesion. Patients with Schobinger clinical stage I AWM showed good results. CONCLUSIONS: Local anaesthetics containing epinephrine play a positive role in reducing the distribution and velocity of blood flow in patients with AVM lesions and may be used as an experimental method for the treatment of AVM, which is beneficial for sclerotherapy in patients with early AVM.

RESUMO

Objective: To explore the effect of nurse-patient communication using the SBAR and CICAR communication mode on CT hydration effectiveness and nursing satisfaction in elderly patients with low education. Methods: From December 2020 to April 2023, 120 elderly patients with low education who underwent chest examinations in our hospital's imaging department were selected. Divide into an observation group and a control group using clinical randomized controlled trial design principles. Both groups of patients received the same diagnosis and treatment plan and nursing measures during hospitalization. The control group received traditional nursing care, while the observation group used the SBAR combined with CICAR communication template for nurse patient communication. After completing all intervention measures, the patient's state anxiety level and satisfaction with nursing work were re evaluated, and the enhanced CT examination status, enhanced CT examination knowledge awareness, psychological status, and their impact relationship were compared between the two groups of patients. Results: The heart rate, preparation time, examination time, anxiety score, depression score, and satisfaction of the observation group were better than those of the control group during examination, with statistical significance (P < .05); The scores related to the understanding of enhanced CT examination, preparation and precautions before the examination, proper posture during the examination, and post-examination precautions in the observation group were significantly higher than those in the control group (P < .05). The understanding of CT examination knowledge has a negative impact on the CT examination status and psychological state (P < .05), and the hydration effect of enhanced CT in patients (P < .05). Conclusion: Nurse-patient communication using the SBAR and CICAR communication mode improved CT hydration effectiveness and nursing satisfaction in elderly patients with low education. This mode enhanced patient understanding, preparation, and adherence to CT examination protocols, leading to better outcomes and reduced anxiety and depression levels.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To observe the effect of electroacupuncture (EA) on the degree of endometrial fibrosis and inflammatory response in the rat model of intrauterine adhesion (IUA), so as to explore the possible mechanism of EA underlying improving IUA and promoting endometrium regeneration. METHODS: Forty-five female SD rats were randomly divided into blank, model and EA groups, with 15 rats in each group. The IUA model was established by mechanical scratching combined with lipopolysaccharide infection. EA was applied to bilateral "Zigong" (EX-CA1) and "Sanyinjiao" (SP6), with acupuncture applied to "Guanyuan" (CV4) for rats in the EA group, started from the 2nd day after modeling, 15 minutes every time, once a day for 2 consecutive estrous cycles. Samples from 5 rats in each group were collected during estrus period. Changes of endometrial histopathology and number of glands were observed after HE staining. The area of endometrial fibrosis was observed and calculated after Masson staining. The positive expressions of collagen type I (Col-I) and transforming growth factor ß1 (TGF-ß1) proteins in endometrial tissue were detected by immunohistochemistry method. The protein expression of integrin αγß3 in uterine tissue was detected by Western blot. The contents of interleukin (IL)-1ß and tumor necrosis factor α (TNF-α) in uterine tissue were detected by ELISA. Samples from remaining 10 rats in each group were collected on the 8th day of gestation for calculation of the embryo implantation numbers of the rats. RESULTS: HE staining showed complete uterine tissue structure of the rats in the blank group during estrus period, with clear endometrial layer, unobstructed and regular uterine cavity, and dense glands. Destroyed endometrial layer, narrowed and adhered uterine cavity, and sparse glands of the rats were seen in the model group, which was relatively milder in the EA group. Following modeling, the number of endometrial glands, the protein expression of Integrin αγß3, the number of implanted uterine embryos on the injured side of the model group were significantly decreased (P<0.01), while the area of endometrial fibrosis, the positive expressions of Col-I and TGF-ß1 proteins, and the contents of IL-1ß and TNF-α in the uterine tissue were significantly increased (P<0.01) in comparison with those in the blank group. After intervention, the number of endometrial glands, the protein expression of Integrin αγß3, the number of implanted uterine embryos on the injured side of the EA group were significantly increased (P<0.01,P<0.05), while the area of endometrial fibrosis, the positive expressions of Col-I and TGF-ß1 proteins, and the contents of IL-1ß and TNF-α in the uterine tissue were significantly decreased (P<0.01,P<0.05) compared with the model group. CONCLUSION: EA can enhance endometrial receptivity, and promote endometrial regeneration, be conducive to embryo implantation in IUA model rats, which may be related to its effect in alleviating endometrial fibrosis and reducing inflammatory response.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: The facial artery (FA) is the main blood vessel supplying blood to the face. It is essential to understand the anatomy of FA around the nasolabial fold (NLF). This study aimed to provide the detailed anatomy and relative positioning of FA to help avoid unexpected complications in plastic surgery. METHODS: FA was observed from the inferior border of the mandible to the end of its terminal branch in 66 hemifaces of 33 patients with Doppler ultrasonography. The evaluation parameters were: (1) location, (2) diameter, (3) FA-skin depth, (4) relationship between the NLF and FA, (5) distance between the FA and significant surgical landmarks, and (6) the running layer. The FA course is classified based on the terminal branch. RESULTS: The most common FA course was Type 1, which had an angular branch as the final branch (59.1%). The most common FA-NLF relationship was that the FA was situated inferior to the NLF (50.0%). The mean FA diameter was 1.56 ± 0.36 mm at the mandibular origin, 1.40 ± 0.37 mm at the cheilion, and 1.32 ± 0.34 mm at the nasal ala. The FA diameter on the right hemiface was thicker than that on the left hemiface (p < 0.05). CONCLUSION: The FA mainly terminates in the angular branch, running in the medial NLF and in dermis and subcutaneous tissue, with a blood supply advantage in the right hemisphere. We suppose that a deep injection into periosteum around the NLF may be safer than an injection into the superficial musculoaponeurotic system (SMAS) layer.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To observe the effects of moxibustion preconditioning on ovarian function, fertility and ovarian granulosa cell apoptosis in rats with premature ovarian insufficiency (POI), so as to investigate its underlying mechanism in improving POI. METHODS: Forty-two female SD rats with two complete estrous cycles were randomly divided into control group, model group and pre-moxibustion group, with 14 rats in each group. The pre-moxibustion group was pretreated with mild moxibustion for 14 days before POI model establishment at 1) "Guanyuan" (CV4) and "Zhongwan" (CV12) and 2) bilateral "Shenshu" (BL23) as two sets of acupoints on alternate days, once each day, for 10 min each acupoint. After 14-day mild moxibustion intervention, 75 mg·kg-1·d-1 tripterygium glycoside tablet suspension was administered to rats in the pre-moxibustion group and the model group by gavage, for 14 consecutive days, while equivalent saline was given to rats in the control group in the same way. After modeling, the effect of moxibustion preconditioning on ovarian reserve function was evaluated by the estrous cycles, pregnancy rate and embryo number, morphological changes of ovaries, and serum sex hormone levels. TUNEL staining was used to detect the rate of granulosa cell apoptosis in ovaries. Immunohistochemistry and real time quantitative PCR were used to detect the relative expression of Caspase-3 and Caspase-9 proteins and mRNA levels in ovaries. RESULTS: Compared with the control group, the estrous cycles were disturbed; the pregnancy rate and number of embryos, the wet weight of ovary and ovarian index, the number of total follicles and different level of follicles, serum Estradiol (E2) and anti-mullerian hormone (AMH) levels were all significantly decreased (P<0.01,P<0.05), while the number of atretic follicles, serum follicule-stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH) levels, the number of TUNEL-positive granulosa cells, the expression of ovarian Caspase-3 and Caspase-9 proteins and mRNAs were significantly increased (P<0.01) in the model group. Compared with the model group, the disordered estrous cycles were improved; the pregnancy rate, the embryo numbers, the wet weight of ovary, and the total follicle number and primary follicle number, serum AMH level were significantly increased (P<0.01,P<0.05), while the number of atretic follicles, serum FSH level, the number of TUNEL-positive granulosa cells, expression of ovarian Caspase-3 and Caspase-9 proteins and mRNAs were all significantly decreased (P<0.01,P<0.05) in the moxibustion group. CONCLUSION: Moxibustion preconditioning could improve ovarian function and improve fertility of POI rats, which may be associated with reducing the apoptosis of ovarian granulosa cells.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Supratrochlear (STA), supraorbital (SOA), and dorsal nasal artery (DNA) branches from the ophthalmic artery and angular artery (AA) from the facial artery are the primary suppliers of blood to the upper face. Filler injection without precise knowledge of its vascular topography poses a risk of severe complications. METHODS: Seventy-four hemifaces from 37 subjects with a median age of 25.0 (21.0, 35.0) years and a median body mass index of 21.2 (20.0, 25.4) kg/m2 underwent high-frequency ultrasound tests between March 2022 and April 2022. The bilateral location, depth, peak systolic velocity (PSV), and inner diameter (ID) of the four periorbital arteries (STA, SOA, DNA, AA) were measured. RESULTS: The average ID ranges from 0.6~1.0 mm, and the average PSV ranges from 9.2~24.9 cm/s. All arteries detected passed through the superficial subcutaneous fascia. Most subjects' STAs traveled within 1.0 to 2.0 cm from the midline (left 96.8%, right 93.8%), while SOAs were mainly concentrated within 2.0 to 4.0 cm (left 83.9%, right 81.3%). STAs were more superficial and had a larger internal ID and PSV than SOAs (p<0.001). Except for the ID of the right SOA2 being significantly larger than that of the left SOA2 (p<0.05), no dominant side was found. The depth of STAs and SOAs was moderately correlated with BMI (p<0.05), except for STA1 on the left side. The course of AAs presented a high variability. CONCLUSION: These findings emphasize that the periorbital arteries carry with it a likelihood of ocular complication risks during injection. Targeting the supraperiosteal layer in the STA area and the supramuscular layer in the SOA area of the inferior forehead during injection seems reasonable, and an area within 1.0~2.0 cm from the midline should be avoided. Additionally, the high variability of AAs will enhance the understanding of the anatomy of the facial artery terminals. RESUMO

Objective: To evaluate the level of cardiometabolic index (CMI) to predict the risk of acute exacerbation in patients with stable chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and to provide a basis for early identification and intervention of high-risk patients in clinical nursing work. Methods: Patients with stable chronic obstructive pulmonary disease who were admitted to the outpatient department of respiratory medicine in a tertiary hospital or followed up after discharge from January to December 2021 were retrospectively selected. CMI was measured and statistical analysis was performed to determine the optimal threshold for predicting acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Results: A total of 63 patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease were enrolled. The median number of episodes in the previous year was 1.00; 44 patients had ≥1 acute exacerbation. The CMI was positively correlated with the frequency of acute exacerbations and the British Medical Research Council (mMRC) score in the previous year, and negatively correlated with the percentage of forced expiratory volume in 1 second to the predicted value (FEV1% PRED). The cut-off point of CMI for predicting acute exacerbations in stable chronic obstructive pulmonary disease patients was 2.05, with a sensitivity of 0.864% and specificity of 0.842%. It is a risk factor for acute exacerbation in COPD patients. Conclusion: CMI can be used as a biological index to predict acute exacerbation in stable COPD patients. Clinical nursing needs to evaluate patients' CMI and provide personalized nursing intervention for patients with CMI≥2.05.

RESUMO

Background: COPD is a common clinical chronic airway inflammatory disease that occurs mostly in middle-aged and older adults over the age of 40. The incidence of COPD is increasing year by year and the onset of age is gradually becoming younger. Objective: To observe the effect of teach-back combined with king interaction on the life of patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Methods: A total of 100 COPD patients admitted to our hospital from Jan 2021 to Jan 2022 were retrospectively selected to be divided into 50 cases in the control group and 50 cases in the observation group according to the nursing methods. The control group was treated with routine nursing intervention, while the observation group was treated with teach-back combined with king interactive standard mode intervention. The differences in Self-Care Ability Assessment Scale (ESCA) score, St. George's Respiratory Questionnaire (SGRQ) score, Mental State Assessment Scale (MSSNS) score, 6-minute walking distance (6MWD), and pulmonary function indexes were compared between the two groups before and after the intervention. The success rate and patient compliance of each index in the groups were also recorded. Results: After 3 months and 6 months of intervention, the total SGRO score and its factor scores of self-care skills, self-care responsibility, self-concept, health knowledge level in them were all higher than those before the intervention, while the total SGRO score and its factor scores of respiratory symptoms, activity limitation, disease influence, and so on were all decreased compared with those before the intervention. The ESCA score of the observation group was significantly higher than that of the control one after 3 months and 6 months of intervention, while the SGRQ score was significantly lower than that of the control one, with statistical significance (P < 0.05). After 3 months of intervention, the total score of MSSNS and the scores of anxiety, depression, loneliness, and other factors in both groups were decreased compared with those before intervention. After 6 months of intervention, the total score of MSSNS and scores of each factor in both groups were decreased compared with those before intervention, and the MSSNS scores in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group after the intervention, which was statistically significant (P < 0.05). After 3 months and 6 months of intervention, 6MWD, forced vital capacity (FVC), forced expiratory value in 1 second (FEV1), and FVC/FEV1 in them were all higher than those before intervention, and 6MWD and pulmonary function were significantly higher in the observation group than in the control group after 3 and 6 months of intervention, which was statistically significant (P < 0.05). The ESCA score, SGRQ score, MSSNS score, pulmonary function compliance rate, and compliance rate in the observation group were significantly higher than those in the control group, which was statistically significant (P < 0.05). Conclusion: The use of teach-back combined with king interactive standard mode in COPD patients can improve the patient's self-care ability, reduce psychological negative emotions, and improve the quality of life.

RESUMO

Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) is a fatal infectious disease caused by human immunodeficiency virus, which poses a serious threat to human health. The contagion of AIDS has greatly increased the psychological pressure of frontline medical staff. The mental health service behavior of medical staff based on electrocardiograms is analyzed. Firstly, an automatic ECG analysis technique is employed to evaluate the mental health service behavior of medical staff. Then, in order to promote the relationship between doctors and patients, Holter's algorithm is applied to improve mental health services. Subsequently, the experiment based on ECG data is conducted to solve the problem of relieving the psychological pressure of medical staff. All samples are divided into high group (average score is 29.21), average group (average score is 31.43), and low group (average score is 34.85) according to the first 20%, middle 60%, and last 20%. The experimental results show that a considerable number of frontline medical personnel have psychological problems in AIDS surgery.

RESUMO

Solar-driven water vaporization is considered one of the most sustainable ways to solve water scarcity. The design of highly efficient solar absorber systems has received extensive attention. Here, we report a novel light absorption material for water evaporation using laser-treated wood. The obtained laser-treated wood possesses interconnected 3D porous networks formed by the random construction of carbon arrays and a hydrophilic surface due to the oxygen implantation by laser treatment. When under 1 sun solar-simulated light irradiation (1 kW m-2), the surface temperatures of dry and water-saturated wood reach 59.5 °C and 40.4 °C, respectively, indicating good heat localization. As a result, the laser-treated wood under 1 sun illumination shows high solar to vapor efficiencies of 93.1% and 92.6% for pure water and seawater, respectively, which are higher than that of most wood-based reported photo-thermal conversion materials. Therefore, the fabricated laser-treated wood may pave the way for harvesting solar energy to produce clean water at low cost.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To explore the effect of electroacupuncture on endometrial receptivity and the pregnancy outcomes of in vitro fertilization and embryo transfer (IVF-ET) in the patients with diminished ovarian reserve (DOR). METHODS: Sixty-eight patients of DOR undertaken IVF-ET were randomized into an observation group (34 cases, 2 cases dropped off) and a control group (34 cases, 1 case dropped off). In the control group, endometrial preparation was performed according to the routine protocol. In the observation group, on the base of the treatment as the control group, acupuncture was applied to Geshu (BL 17), Shenshu (BL 23), Mingmen (GV 4), Shiqizhui (EX-B 8), Ciliao (BL 32), Zhongliao (BL 33), Tianshu (ST 25), Qihai (CV 6) and Guanyuan (CV 4), etc. Electric stimulation was given at Ciliao (BL 32)-Zhongliao(BL 33), Tianshu (ST 25)-Zigong (EX-CA 1), with disperse-dense wave, 2 Hz/15 Hz in frequency and tolerable current in intensity. Electroacupuncture was given once every two days, 3 times weekly, lasing 3 menstrual cycles till 1 day before embryo transfer. The endometrial thickness and morphology were observed on the day of human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG) of egg retrieval cycle, the day of endometrial transformation in frozen-thawed embryo transfer (FET) cycle and the day of embryo transfer in both groups successively; as well as HCG positive rate, clinical pregnancy rate, embryo implantation rate and live birth rate. RESULTS: In the observation group, the proportion of type A endometrium on the embryo transfer day was higher than those on HCG day of the egg retrieval cycle and the endometrial transformation day of FET cycle (P<0.05), and also higher than that of the control group (P<0.01). In the observation group, HCG positive rate, clinical pregnancy rate, embryo implantation rate and live birth rate were 75.0% (24/32), 71.9% (23/32), 47.4% (27/57) and 56.3% (18/32) respectively, and all higher than 36.4% (12/33), 30.3% (10/33), 18.0% (11/61) and 15.2% (5/33) in the control group separately (P<0.01). CONCLUSION: Electroacupuncture improves the endometrial receptivity and IVF-ET pregnancy outcomes in the patients of diminished ovarian reserve.
