RESUMO

Objective:To explore the teaching reform of internal medicine graduate students based on the concept of outcomes-based education (OBE).Methods:A total of 86 graduate students who studied in the Teaching and Research Section of Internal Medicine in the First Affiliated Hospital of Xinjiang Medical University from January 2019 to August 2020 were randomly divided into control group ( n=43) and observation group ( n=43). The control group adopted traditional teaching, and the observation group adopted the teaching based on the OBE concept. The evaluation of the academic performance of the two groups of graduate students and the recognition of the teaching mode by the graduate students were compared, and the improvement of the personal ability of the graduate students was evaluated. Meanwhile, the effect of teaching satisfaction and the improvement of learning ability of the graduate students was evaluated. SPSS 22.0 was used for t-test and Chi-square test. Results:The theoretical scores, general head and neck test scores, heart test scores, lung test scores, abdominal test scores, spinal and limb nervous system test scores, operation scores and total scores of graduate students in the observation group were higher than those in the control group ( P<0.05); students in the observation group believed that the teaching could improve their learning interest, improve the self-learning ability, improve communication and expression ability, improve teamwork ability, improve understanding and memory ability, improve internal medicine thinking ability, improve generalization ability, and improve clinical practice ability. All the above aspects were higher in observation group than control group ( P<0.05); the students in the observation group had 97.67% (42/43) recognition of teaching, which was higher than 83.72% (36/43) in the control group. Conclusion:Internal medicine teaching based on the concept of OBE can improve the academic performance and enhance the personal ability of graduate students, and the students are more satisfied with this teaching method.

RESUMO

To explore the protective effects of Traditional Uighur medicine Seeds of Nigella glandulifera Freyn (SNF) extracts against CCl4-induced acute hepatic injury in mice. Hepatic injury mice models induced by intraperitoneal injection of 0.1% CCl4 olive oil were established. Liver and spleen coefficient, Serum ALT and AST activities, SOD, GSH-Px activities and MDA content in hepatic homogenate were measured and the hepatic histological changes were observed by optical microscope. Serum activities of ALT (P<0.01) and AST (P<0.05) in Alcohol extraction group was decreased; Activity of hepatic homogenate SOD increased in Alcohol extraction group and Water extraction group significantly (P<0.05). Content of MDA was decreased in Alcohol extraction group (P<0.01). Water extracts of SNF have obvious protective effects on hepatic injury induced by CCl4 in mice.

RESUMO

Job strain is a major concern in view of its effects among civil servants associated with job burnout, mental fatigue and chronic diseases. The objective of this study was to assess the job strain level among civil servants and examine the effect of job strain on job burnout, mental fatigue and the resulting chronic diseases. A cross-sectional study with a representative sample consisting of 5000 civil servants was conducted from March to August 2014. Using a structured questionnaire, the job strain level, job burnout and mental fatigue were measured by using the Personal Strain Questionnaire (PSQ), Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) and Multidimensional Fatigue Inventory (MFI-20), respectively. Overall, 33.8% of the civil servants were found to be afflicted with high and moderate job strain. The characteristics of most of the civil servants with a higher-job strain level were as follows: female, Uygur, lower educational level and job title rank, shorter working experience, married marital status, and lower income level. Civil servants suffering from chronic disease mainly had hypertension and coronary heart disease, which accounted for 18.5% of the diseases. Civil servants with a high-job strain level exhibited higher rates of burnout, mental fatigue scores and incidence of chronic diseases. There was a multiple linear regression model composed of three predictor variables in job burnout, which accounted for 45.0% of its occurrence: female gender, lower-income level, higher-job strain in civil servants, the greater the rate of job burnout was. Four factors-male gender, lower-job title rank, higher-job strain, shorter-job tenure of civil servants-explained 25.0% of the mental fatigue model. Binary logistic regression showed that intermediate-rank employees (OR = 0.442, 95% CI: 0.028-0.634; p < 0.05), job tenure of 10-20 years (OR = 0.632, 95% CI: 0.359-0.989; p < 0.05), and low-job strain (OR = 0.657, 95% CI: 0.052-0.698; p < 0.05) were all associated with significantly lower odds of chronic disease. The risk of chronic disease was higher in civil servants with high-job burnout scores and mental fatigue scores compared with civil servants with lower scores (OR = 1.139, 95% CI: 1.012-3.198; OR = 1.697, 95% CI: 1.097-2.962). These data provide evidence for the effects of job strain on job burnout, mental fatigue and chronic diseases among civil servants.

RESUMO

AIM: This study investigated the immunomodulatory and anti-tumor effects of Nigella glandulifera Freyn and Sint seeds (NGS) on Ehrlich ascites carcinoma in a mouse model. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Kunming mice with transplanted Ehrlich ascites tumor cells (EAC) were treated with NGS by oral administration. On the 11(th) day after the EAC implant, mouse thymus, liver, spleen and kidney tumors were removed for histopathological analysis. Blood samples were taken for hematological and biochemical analyses. RESULTS: The results indicate that NGS treatment leads to an increase in TNF-α, IL-1ß, and IL-2 blood serum levels. Absence of viable EAC and presence of necrotic cells were observed in the tumor tissue of the NGS-treated animals. CONCLUSIONS: The study results indicated that a water extract of NGS had the highest anti-tumor effect. Moreover, NGS treatment also showed an increase in the immune system activity.
