BACKGROUND: In order to improve taVNS efficacy, the usage of fMRI to explore the predictive neuroimaging markers would be beneficial for screening the appropriate MDD population before treatment. METHODS: A total of 86 MDD patients were recruited in this study, and all subjects were conducted with the clinical scales and resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) scan before and after 8 weeks' taVNS treatment. A two-stage feature selection strategy combining Machine Learning and Statistical was used to screen out the critical brain functional connections (FC) that were significantly associated with efficacy prediction, then the efficacy prediction model was constructed for taVNS treating MDD. Finally, the model was validated by separated the responding and non-responding patients. RESULTS: This study showed that taVNS produced promising clinical efficacy in the treatment of mild and moderate MDD. Eleven FCs were selected out and were found to be associated with the cortico-striatal-pallidum-thalamic loop, the hippocampus and cerebellum and the HAMD-17 scores. The prediction model was created based on these FCs for the efficacy prediction of taVNS treatment. The R-square of the conducted regression model for predicting HAMD-17 reduction rate is 0.44, and the AUC for classifying the responding and non-responding patients is 0.856. CONCLUSION: The study demonstrates the validity and feasibility of combining neuroimaging and machine learning techniques to predict the efficacy of taVNS on MDD, and provides an effective solution for personalized and precise treatment for MDD.

The spontaneous Baijiu fermentation system harbors a complex microbiome that is highly dynamic in time and space and varies depending on the Jiuqu starters and environmental factors. The intricate microbiota presents in the fermentation environment is responsible for carrying out various reactions. These reactions necessitate the interaction among the core microbes to influence the community function, ultimately shaping the distinct Baijiu styles through the process of spontaneous fermentation. Numerous studies have been conducted to enhance our understanding of the diversity, succession, and function of microbial communities with the aim of improving fermentation manipulation. However, a comprehensive and critical assessment of the core microbes and their interaction remains one of the significant challenges in the Baijiu fermentation industry. This paper focuses on the fermentation properties of core microbes. We discuss the state of the art of microbial traceability, highlighting the crucial role of environmental and starter microbiota in the Baijiu brewing microbiome. Also, we discuss the various interactions between microbes in the Baijiu production system and propose a potential conceptual framework that involves constructing predictive network models to simplify and quantify microbial interactions using co-culture models. This approach offers effective strategies for understanding the core microbes and their interactions, thus beneficial for the management of microbiota and the regulation of interactions in Baijiu fermentation processes.

Objective: To explore characteristics of clinical parameters and cytokines in patients with drug-induced liver injury (DILI) caused by different drugs and their correlation with clinical indicators. Method: The study was conducted on patients who were up to Review of Uncertainties in Confidence Assessment for Medical Tests (RUCAM) scoring criteria and clinically diagnosed with DILI. Based on Chinese herbal medicine, cardiovascular drugs, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), anti-infective drugs, and other drugs, patients were divided into five groups. Cytokines were measured by Luminex technology. Baseline characteristics of clinical biochemical indicators and cytokines in DILI patients and their correlation were analyzed. Results: 73 patients were enrolled. Age among five groups was statistically different ( P = 0.032). Alanine aminotransferase (ALT) ( P = 0.033) and aspartate aminotransferase (AST) ( P = 0.007) in NSAIDs group were higher than those in chinese herbal medicine group. Interleukin-6 (IL-6) and tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α) in patients with Chinese herbal medicine (IL-6: P < 0.001; TNF-α: P < 0.001) and cardiovascular medicine (IL-6: P = 0.020; TNF-α: P = 0.001) were lower than those in NSAIDs group. There was a positive correlation between ALT ( r = 0.697, P = 0.025), AST ( r = 0.721, P = 0.019), and IL-6 in NSAIDs group. Conclusion: Older age may be more prone to DILI. Patients with NSAIDs have more severe liver damage in early stages of DILI, TNF-α and IL-6 may partake the inflammatory process of DILI.

OBJECTIVE: To explore the clinical and imaging features of nasopharyngeal cancer (NPC) complicated by acute carotid blowout syndrome (CBS), analyze the risk factors for CBS, and improve diagnostic vigilance for early intervention. METHODS: This retrospective review was conducted between January 2003 and May 2023. Altogether, 49 patients with post-irradiation NPC with CBS and 49 patients without CBS as control group were enrolled. The condition of the patients when CBS occurred was reviewed. Patient characteristics of the CBS and control groups were compared, and binary logistic regression analysis was performed to identify risk factors for CBS. RESULTS: All patients in the CBS group were conscious, and 41 patients had a Karnofsky performance assessment scale score of ≥ 70. After interventional therapy, 43 patients survived (the mean survival time of patients after CBS was 3.2 ± 2.1 years). Compared with the control group, the CBS group had a higher incidence of sphenoid sinusitis (81% vs. 52.4%), osteonecrosis (82.9% vs. 51.2%), artery exposure (29.3% vs. 4.9%), and internal carotid artery injury (61% vs. 29.3%). Osteonecrosis and artery exposure were selected as important risk factor for CBS, with p-values of 0.016 and 0.031, respectively. CONCLUSION: CBS is an important factor that affects the survival of patients with NPC. If internal carotid artery injury, artery exposure, sphenoid sinusitis, and osteonecrosis are present, especially the latter two signs, the possibility of CBS should be considered.

Objective: This study aimed to establish an effective prognostic model based on triglyceride and inflammatory markers, including neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), lymphocyte-to-monocyte ratio (LMR), and platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR), to predict overall survival (OS) in patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC). Additionally, we aimed to explore the interaction and mediation between these biomarkers in their association with OS. Methods: A retrospective review was conducted on 259 NPC patients who had blood lipid markers, including triglyceride and total cholesterol, as well as parameters of peripheral blood cells measured before treatment. These patients were followed up for over 5 years, and randomly divided into a training set (n=155) and a validation set (n=104). The triglyceride-inflammation (TI) score was developed using the random survival forest (RSF) algorithm. Subsequently, a nomogram was created. The performance of the prognostic model was measured by the concordance index (C-index), time-dependent receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve, and decision curve analysis (DCA). The interaction and mediation between the biomarkers were further analyzed. Bioinformatics analysis based on the GEO dataset was used to investigate the association between triglyceride metabolism and immune cell infiltration. Results: The C-index of the TI score was 0.806 in the training set, 0.759 in the validation set, and 0.808 in the entire set. The area under the curve of time-dependent ROC of TI score in predicting survival at 1, 3, and 5 years were 0.741, 0.847, and 0.871 respectively in the training set, and 0.811, 0.837, and 0.758 in the validation set, then 0.771, 0.848, and 0.862 in the entire set, suggesting that TI score had excellent performance in predicting OS in NPC patients. Patients with stage T1-T2 or M0 had significantly lower TI scores, NLR, and PLR, and higher LMR compared to those with stage T3-T3 or M1, respectively. The nomogram, which integrated age, sex, clinical stage, and TI score, demonstrated good clinical usefulness and predictive ability, as evaluated by the DCA. Significant interactions were found between triglyceride and NLR and platelet, but triglyceride did not exhibit any medicating effects in the inflammatory markers. Additionally, NPC tissues with active triglyceride synthesis exhibited high immune cell infiltration. Conclusion: The TI score based on RSF represents a potential prognostic factor for NPC patients, offering convenience and economic advantages. The interaction between triglyceride and NLR may be attributed to the effect of triglyceride metabolism on immune response.

The standard strategy is to reconstruct bladder by use of bowel segments as material in bladder cancer with radical cystectomy clinically. Both natural derived and non natural derived materials are investigated in bladder reconstruction. Studies on mechanical bladder, bladder transplantation and bladder xenotransplantation are currently limited although heart and kidney transplantation or xenotransplantation are successful to a certain extent, and bone prostheses are applied in clinical contexts. Earlier limited number of studies associated with bladder xenograft from animals to humans were not particular promising in results. Although there have been investigations on pig to human cardiac xenotransplantation with CRISPR Cas9 gene editing, the CRISPR Cas technique is not yet widely researched in porcine bladder related gene editing for the potential of human bladder replacement for bladder cancer. The advancement of technologies such as gene editing, bioprinting and induced pluripotent stem cells allow further research into partial or whole bladder replacement strategies. Porcine bladder is suggested as a potential source material for bladder reconstruction due to its alikeness to human bladder. Challenges that exist with all these approaches need to be overcome. This paper aims to review gene editing technology such as the CRISPR Cas systems as tools in bladder reconstruction, bladder xenotransplantation and hybrid bladder with technologies of induced pluripotent stem cells and genome editing, bioprinting for bladder replacement for bladder reconstruction and to restore normal bladder control function after cystectomy for bladder cancer.

BACKGROUND: Transcatheter angiography (TA) could help to diagnose and treat refractory nonvariceal upper gastrointestinal bleeding (NVUGIB). Proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) are the key medication for reducing the rebleeding rate and mortality and are usually continued after TA. It is unknown whether high-dose PPIs after TA are more effective than the standard regimen. METHODS: We retrospectively collected data from patients who received TA because of refractory NVUGIB from 2010 to 2020 at West China Hospital. 244 patients were included and divided into two groups based on the first 3 days of PPIs treatment. All baseline characteristics were balanced using the inverse probability of treatment weighting method. The 30-day all-cause mortality, rebleeding rate and other outcomes were compared. The propensity score matching method was also used to verify the results. RESULTS: There were 86 patients in the high-dose group and 158 in the standard group. The average daily doses of PPI were 192.1 ± 17.9 mg and 77.8 ± 32.0 mg, respectively. Cox regression analysis showed no difference in the 30-day all-cause mortality (aHR 1.464, 95% CI 0.829 to 2.584) or rebleeding rate (aHR 1.020, 95% CI 0.693 to 1.501). There were no differences found in red blood cell transfusion, hospital stay length and further interventions, including endoscopy, repeating TA, surgery and ICU admission. The results were consistent in the subgroup analysis of patients with transcatheter arterial embolization. CONCLUSION: In refractory NVUGIB patients who received TA, regardless of whether embolization was performed, high-dose PPI treatment did not provide additional benefits compared with the standard regimen.

OBJECTIVES: This study aimed to analyse the current status, trends and risk factors of disease burden from 1990 to 2019 among Chinese children. DESIGN AND PARTICIPANTS: It was a retrospective study on data from the Global Burden of Disease Study 2019 (GBD 2019). Data of disease burden and risk factors were extracted from the GBD 2019. Children were divided into two groups of <5 and 5-14 years. Data were analysed using GBD results query tool, Excel and Pareto analysis. PRIMARY OUTCOME MEASURES: Disability-Adjusted Life Years (DALYs) and deaths. RESULTS: The overall disease burden for both children <5 years and those aged 5-14 years significantly decreased from 1990 to 2019. For children aged <5 years, in 2019, the leading cause of deaths and DALYs were 'neonatal disorders', and the top risk factor was 'low birth weight'. Compared with data of 1990, the ranking of causes of deaths and DALYs in 2019 saw the most significant increase for 'HIV/AIDS and sexually transmitted infections' and 'skin and subcutaneous diseases' respectively. Conversely, the ranking of deaths/DALYs causes that dropped most significantly was 'nutritional deficiencies'. For children aged 5-14, in 2019, the leading deaths and DALYs causes were 'unintentional injuries' and 'mental disorders' respectively. The top risk factors were 'alcohol use' and 'short gestation', respectively. The ranking of deaths and DALYs causes rose most significantly were 'HIV/AIDS and sexually transmitted infections' and 'neonatal disorders', respectively. Conversely, the ranking of deaths causes that dropped most significantly were 'other infectious diseases', 'enteric infections' and 'nutritional deficiencies'. For DALYs, the causes that dropped most significantly in ranking were 'other infectious diseases'. CONCLUSIONS: The disease burden of children has significantly changed from 1990 to 2019, with notable differences between children aged <5 and 5-14 years. To optimise the allocation of health resources, it is necessary to adjust management strategies based on the latest disease burden.

α-Synuclein (α-Syn) is closely related to the pathogenesis of Parkinson's disease (PD). Under pathological conditions, the conformation of α-syn changes and different forms of α-syn lead to neurotoxicity. According to Braak stages, α-syn can propagate in different brain regions, inducing neurodegeneration and corresponding clinical manifestations through abnormal aggregation of Lewy bodies (LBs) and lewy axons in different types of neurons in PD. So far, PD lacks early diagnosis biomarkers, and treatments are mainly targeted at some clinical symptoms. There is no effective therapy to delay the progression of PD. This review first summarized the role of α-syn in physiological and pathological states, and the relationship between α-syn and PD. Then, we focused on the origin, secretion, aggregation, propagation and degradation of α-syn as well as the important regulatory factors in these processes systematically. Finally, we reviewed some potential drug candidates for alleviating the abnormal aggregation of α-syn in order to provide valuable targets for the treatment of PD to cope with the occurrence and progression of this disease.

RESUMO

AXL, a receptor tyrosine kinase (RTK), plays a pivotal role in various cellular functions. It is primarily involved in processes such as epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) in tumor cells, angiogenesis, apoptosis, immune regulation, and chemotherapy resistance mechanisms. Therefore, targeting AXL is a promising therapeutic approach for the treatment of cancer. AXL inhibitors that have entered clinical trials, such as BGB324(1), have shown promising efficacy in the treatment of melanoma and non-small cell lung cancer. Additionally, novel AXL-targeted drugs, such as AXL degraders, offer a potential solution to overcome the limitations of traditional small-molecule AXL inhibitors targeting single pathways. We provide an overview of the structure and biological functions of AXL, discusses its correlation with various cancers, and critically analyzes the structure-activity relationship of AXL small-molecule inhibitors in cellular contexts. Additionally, we summarize multiple research and development strategies, offering insights for the future development of innovative AXL inhibitors.

OBJECTIVES: The emergence of carbapenem-resistant Pseudomonas putida (CRPP) has raised public awareness. This study investigated two strains from the Pseudomonas putida group that were resistant to carbapenem, tigecycline, and aztreonam-avibactam (ATM-AVI), with a focus on their microbial and genomic characteristics. METHODS: We assessed the antibiotic resistance profile using broth dilution, disk diffusion, and E-test methods. Efflux pump phenotype testing and real-time quantitative PCR were employed to evaluate efflux pump activity in tigecycline resistance, while polymerase chain reaction was utilized to detect common carbapenem genes. Additionally, whole-genome sequencing was performed to analyze genomic characteristics. The transferability of blaIMP-1 and blaAFM-4 was assessed through a conjugation experiment. Furthermore, growth kinetics and biofilm formation were examined using growth curves and crystal violet staining. RESULTS: Both strains demonstrated resistance to carbapenem, tigecycline, and ATM-AVI. Notably, NMP can restore sensitivity to tigecycline. Subsequent analysis revealed that they co-produced blaIMP-1, blaAFM-4, tmexCD-toprJ, and blaOXA-1041, belonging to a novel sequence type ST268. Although they were closely related on the phylogenetic tree, they exhibited different levels of virulence. Genetic environment analysis indicated variations compared to prior studies, particularly regarding the blaIMP-1 and blaAFM-4 genes, which showed limited horizontal transferability. Moreover, it was observed that temperature exerted a specific influence on their biological factors. CONCLUSION: We initially identified two P. putida ST268 strains co-producing blaIMP-1, blaAFM-4, blaOXA-1041, and tmexCD-toprJ. The resistance to tigecycline and ATM-AVI can be attributed to the presence of multiple drug resistance determinants. These findings underscore the significance of P. putida as a reservoir for novel antibiotic resistance genes. Therefore, it is imperative to develop alternative antibiotic therapies and establish effective monitoring of bacterial resistance.

Panax ginseng, known as the "king of herbs", is a highly valued medicinal plant, and its medicinal parts include roots, stems, leaves, flowers, and fruits, among which the roots are the most commonly used. The main active components of this medicinal plant include triterpenoid saponins, polysaccharides, peptides, and volatile oils. The chemical components and active metabolites endow this herb with a variety of pharmacological effects, and thus this herb is used to treat various diseases and play healthcare roles. Currently, a wide range of preparations of P. ginseng have been officially registered and marketed, including tablets, oral liquids, and injections, which demonstrate good clinical efficacy in regulating immunity, adjuvant treatment of tumors, alleviating fatigue, delaying the aging process, improving glucose and lipid metabolism, treating cardiovascular diseases, and relieving inflammation and pain. The production process and quality standards of these drugs are of great significance to ensure their efficacy. According to the theory that Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma can greatly replenish original Qi, tonify the spleen and lung, promote fluid production to quench thirst, tranquilize mind and enrich the intelligence, this paper systematically summarized the clinical application progress of P. ginseng and rela-ted preparations on the market and prospected the further development of preparations from P. ginseng, providing a reference for further exploring the medicinal value and healthcare function of this herb. The above contents, as an important basis for the in-depth development of P. ginseng and related drugs, increase the possibilities for the application of P. ginseng.

To investigate the effect of epimedium total flavone capsules on post-stroke cognitive impairment(PSCI) in rats. The transient middle cerebral artery occlusion(tMCAO) model was constructed on selected rats, and rats with impaired neurological function were randomly divided into the model group, low, middle, and high dose groups of epimedium total flavone capsules, and nimodipine tablet group. The cognitive function of rats was measured after administration. Pathological changes in brain tissue were observed after hematoxylin-eosin staining(HE). Neuronal nuclei(NeuN) and glial fibrillary acidic protein(GFAP) distribution in brain tissue were tested by immunofluorescent staining. The level of amyloid beta 1-42(Aß_(1-42)), neuron specific enolase(NSE), acetylcholine(ACH), dopamine(DA), 5-hydroxytryptamine(5-HT), norepinephrine(NE), interleukin-1ß(IL-1ß), tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α), and hypersensitive C-reactive protein(hs-CRP) in rat serum was tested. Moreover, Western blot was utilized to test the expression of nuclear factor-kappaB(NF-κB), p-NF-κB, alpha inhibitor of NF-κB(IκBα) protein, and p-IκBα protein in the hippocampus. The experimental results showed that epimedium total flavone capsules can improve the cognitive function of model rats, and the mechanism may be related to the regulation of the expression of p-IκBα and p-NF-κB proteins, so as to inhibit inflammatory response induced by ischemia-reperfusion.

Alzheimer's disease (AD) presents a significant challenge due to its prevalence and lack of cure, driving the quest for effective treatments. Anshen Bunao Syrup, a traditional Chinese medicine known for its neuroprotective properties, shows promise in addressing this need. However, understanding its precise mechanisms in AD remains elusive. This study aimed to investigate Anshen Bunao Syrup's therapeutic potential in AD treatment using a scopolamine-induced AD rat model. Assessments included novel-object recognition and Morris water maze tasks to evaluate spatial learning and memory, alongside Nissl staining and ELISA analyses for neuronal damage and biomarker levels. Results demonstrated that Anshen Bunao Syrup effectively mitigated cognitive dysfunction by inhibiting amyloid-ß and phosphorylation Tau aggregation, thereby reducing neuronal damage. Metabolomics profiling of rats cortex revealed alterations in key metabolites implicated in tryptophan and fatty acid metabolism pathways, suggesting a role in the therapeutic effects of Anshen Bunao Syrup. Additionally, ELISA and correlation analyses indicated attenuation of oxidative stress and immune response through metabolic remodeling. In conclusion, this study provides compelling evidence for the neuroprotective effects of Anshen Bunao Syrup in AD models, shedding light on its potential as a therapeutic agent for AD prevention and treatment.

SUMMARY: Nasal reconstruction in pediatric patient is very challenging and it requires consideration of later nasal development. Herein, we introduce an innovative preauricular free flap pedicled with retrograde vascular (PFFPRV) for pediatric nasal reconstruction. In this PFFPRV technique, the retrograde superficial temporal vessels were used as the flap pedicle. The lateral alar artery and angular vein were used as vessels of the nasal recipient zone. The flap vessels were anastomosed directly to the recipient area vessels without additional vessel transplantation. Eight pediatric patients with nasal defects underwent this operation. All patients were followed up for more than 2 years. Patients' medical history data were retrospectively analyzed. Preoperative and postoperative facial photos were compared and analyzed. The satisfaction of patient's parents with the aesthetic results was assessed. All patients were successfully operated without intraoperative complications. None of the procedures required additional blood vessel grafts. One patient developed a vascular crisis the next day after the surgery and underwent vascular exploration operation. The free flaps of all patients survived without wound infection or necrosis. The color difference of flap gradually became unobvious. The transplanted flap did not show obvious contracture or retraction, and the nose was symmetrical and developed well. The parents of all patients were satisfied with the surgical results. We think this PFFPRV technique can be a reasonable alternative strategy for reconstruction of pediatric nasal defect, with no adverse effect on nasal development and no need of vascular transplantation. Compound pollution with cadmium (Cd) and zinc (Zn) is common in nature. The effects of compounded Cd and Zn on the growth and development of Iris pseudacorus in the environment and the plant's potential to remediate heavy metals in the environment remain unclear. In this study, the effects of single and combined Cd and Zn stress on I. pseudacorus growth and the enrichment of heavy metals in I. pseudacorus seedlings were investigated. The results showed that under Cd (160 µM) and Zn (800 µM) stress, plant growth was significantly inhibited and photosynthetic performance was affected. Cd+Zn200 (160 µM + 200 µM) reduced the levels of malondialdehyde, hydrogen peroxide, and non-protein thiols by 31.29%, 53.20%, and 13.29%, respectively, in the aboveground tissues compared with levels in the single Cd treatment. However, Cd+Zn800 (160 µM + 800 µM) had no effect. Cd and Zn800 inhibited the absorption of mineral elements, while Zn200 had little effect on plants. Compared with that for Cd treatment alone, Cd + Zn200 and Cd+Zn800 reduced the Cd content in aboveground tissues by 54.15% and 49.92%, respectively, but had no significant effect on Cd in the root system. Zn significantly reduced the Cd content in subcellular components and limited the content and proportion of Cd extracted using water and ethanol. These results suggest that a low supply of Zn reduces Cd accumulation in aboveground tissues by promoting antioxidant substances and heavy metal chelating agents, thus protecting the photosynthetic systems. The addition of Zn also reduced the mobility and bioavailability of Cd to alleviate its toxicity in I. pseudacorus.

This paper aims to study the pharmacokinetic differences of twelve effective constituents(succinic acid, neochlorogenic acid, chlorogenic acid, cryptochlorogenic acid, protocatechuic aldehyde, caffeic acid, 5-O-ferulogeninic acid, p-coumaric acid, nuciferine, quercetin, oleanolic acid, and ursolic acid) in Qihe Fenqing Yin in normal and diabetic rats. The diabetic rat model was established by a high-fat diet combined with intraperitoneal injection of streptozocin. A UHPLC-QTRAP-MS/MS method was established for the simultaneous determination of 12 constituents in the plasma of normal rats and model rats after a single intragastric administration of Qihe Fenqing Yin. The results show that the established analytical method has a good linear relationship with the 12 components, and the specificity, accuracy, precision, and stability meet the requirements. The computational pharmacokinetic parameters are fitted by DAS 3.2.8 software, and the results show that the half-life time(t_(1/2)) of the other nine components in the model group was longer than that in the normal group except for caffeic acid, 5-O-ferulogeninic acid, and oleanolic acid. The area under curve(AUC_(0-t)) of cryptochlorogenic acid, p-coumaric acid, ursolic acid, and oleanolic acid increases compared with the normal group. Meanwhile, mean residence time(MRT) delays. The "double peaks" of quercetin and nuciferine in the normal group are not observed in the model group, suggesting that the pharmacokinetic parameters of the drugs in the disease state are significantly different.

BACKGROUND: Dysregulation of iron metabolism has been shown to have significant implications for cancer development. We aimed to investigate the prognostic and immunological significance of iron metabolism-related genes (IMRGs) in nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC). METHODS: Multiple Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) and The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) datasets were analyzed to identify key IMRGs associated with prognosis. Additionally, the immunological significance of IMRGs was explored. RESULTS: A novel risk model was established using the LASSO regression algorithm, incorporating three genes (TFRC, SLC39A14, and ATP6V0D1).This model categorized patients into low and high-risk groups, and Kaplan-Meier analysis revealed significantly shorter progression-free survival for the high-risk group (P < 0.0001). The prognostic model's accuracy was additionally confirmed by employing time-dependent Receiver Operating Characteristic (ROC) curves and conducting Decision Curve Analysis (DCA). High-risk patients were found to correlate with advanced clinical stages, specific tumor microenvironment subtypes, and distinct morphologies. ESTIMATE analysis demonstrated a significant inverse relationship between increased immune, stromal, and ESTIMATE scores and lowered risk score. Immune analysis indicated a negative correlation between high-risk score and the abundance of most tumor-infiltrating immune cells, including dendritic cells, CD8+ T cells, CD4+ T cells, and B cells. This correlation extended to immune checkpoint genes such as PDCD1, CTLA4, TIGIT, LAG3, and BTLA. The protein expression patterns of selected genes in clinical NPC samples were validated through immunohistochemistry. CONCLUSION: This study presents a prognostic model utilizing IMRGs in NPC, which could assist in assessing patient prognosis and provide insights into new therapeutic targets for NPC.

Magnetic tunnel junctions (MTJs) are the core elements of spintronic devices. Now, the mainstream writing operation of MTJs mainly relies on electric current with high energy dissipation, which can be greatly reduced if an electric field is used instead. In this regard, strain-mediated multiferroic heterostructure composed of MTJ and ferroelectrics are promising with the advantages of room temperature and magnetic field-free as already demonstrated by MTJ with in-plane magnetic anisotropy. However, there is no such report on the perpendicular MTJs (p-MTJs), which have been commercialized. Here, we investigate electric-field control of resistance state of MgO-based p-MTJs in multiferroic heterostructures. A remarkable and nonvolatile manipulation of resistance is demonstrated at room temperature without magnetic field assistance. Through various characterizations and micromagnetic simulation, the manipulation mechanism is uncovered. Our work provides an effective avenue for manipulating p-MTJ resistance by electric fields and is notable for high density and ultralow power spintronic devices.
