RESUMO

BACKGROUND: There is a dearth of effective treatments to counter retinol-induced skin irritation. OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to investigate the efficacy of three potential mitigants: (i) phytosteryl/octyldodecyl lauroyl glutamate (PLG), (ii) a physiologic lipid mixture (PLM) comprised of ceramide three and cholesterol, and (iii) niacinamide, in ameliorating irritation instigated by retinol. METHODS: An occlusive human patch test, spanning 5 days, was undertaken on 18 Chinese participants aged between 23 and 40. It was designed as a randomized, double-blind, and vehicle-controlled study. Clinician erythema assessment (CEA) and instrumental evaluations were employed pre and post-test. Subsequently, a 4-week consumer in-use test, randomized and double-blind in nature, was executed to substantiate the soothing effects of PLG. RESULTS: Data from CEA and bioengineering assessments revealed that, in comparison to the vehicle control, both 2% PLG and 5% PLM notably curbed retinol-induced skin erythema and inflammation. Notably, PLG outperformed PLM. Conversely, 3% niacinamide did not offer relief against retinol-induced discomfort. The subsequent consumer in-use test affirmed that treatments with 2% PLG were better tolerated than those with the vehicle alone. CONCLUSION: To the best of our knowledge, this study represents the first confirmation that physiologic lipids effectively mitigate retinol-induced irritation. Given their capacity to counter retinol-induced irritation, physiologic lipids, particularly PLG, are recommended for incorporation in retinol regimens. Additionally, the Visia-CR a* value can serve as a robust objective measure for interpreting patch test outcomes.

RESUMO

In recent years, with the change of lifestyle and environment, the incidence of colorectal cancer is increasing.Colorectal polyp is an important precancerous lesion of colorectal cancer;endoscopic early detection, early diagnosis are important for the prevention and treatment of colorectal cancer.Aims:To investigate the endoscopic findings, pathology and clinical features of colorectal polyps. Methods:Patients with colorectal polyps from January 2014 to June 2016 at the Third People's Hospital of Shenzhen were enrolled, and the general information data, endoscopic findings, pathology and canceration rate were retrospectively analyzed. Results:A total of 740 patients had colorectal polyps detected, the ratio of male to female was 1.75:1,559 (75.5%)patients were aged >40 years,70.4% of polyps were located in left hemicolon, the main pathological type of polyps were inflammatory polyps (29.0%),hyperplastic polyps (29.6%),tubular adenoma (30.3%).Cancer was found in 38 patients, canceration rate was 5.1%;the main pathological types of cancerated adenoma were tubular adenoma, tubular villous adenoma and villous adenoma, and 87.2%had a diameter greater than 1.5 cm,and were mainly located in left hemicolon (76.9%).Conclusions:Gender,age,pathological type, diameter of colorectal polyps are important factors of canceration.Male colorectal polyps patients with age >40 years, diameter greater than 1 .5 cm,tubular villous adenoma and villous adenoma should be paid attention and followed up.

RESUMO

A method combinating piezoelectric-biochip technique with cell culture technique in vitro has been developed. Piezoelectric cell-based chip (PCC) can continously monitor the behaviors of living cells attached to or spreaded on surfaces. The method measures the resonant frequency (f), the dissipation energy (D) and impedance (Z), in real time. These multi parameters can inflect information of cells qualitively and quantitively. This paper covers principle, materials and methods, results and discussion of the new technique, simultaniously indicates its application and trends.
