RESUMO

Rhubarb (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma) is a classic herbal laxative medicine in Europe and a very famous natural medicine in Asia, especially in China. In this study, near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) was first used for rapid and simultaneous analysis of five main active components (chrysophanol, aloe-emodin, rhein, emodin and physcion) in rhubarb of 6 geographical origins, processing and spurious samples. A total of 124 samples (73 raw, 40 processed and 11 spurious samples) were collected. With the reference values determined by HPLC, two calibration strategies, partial least squares (PLS) as a linear regression method and artificial neural networks (ANN) as a non-linear regression method, were studied. For the PLS strategy, 11 spectral pre-processing methods, 5 spectral regions and different latent variables (LVs) were systematically compared, while 3 spectral pre-processing methods and 5 ANN algorithms were studied for the ANN strategy. The results indicated that PLS was more suitable for the analysis of chrysophanol, aloe-emodin, emodin and physcion, whereas ANN was better for rhein. For the optimal NIR models of chrysophanol, aloe-emodin, rhein, emodin and physcion, the correlation coefficients of the calibration set (Rcal) were 0.9916, 0.9762, 0.9839, 0.9794 and 0.9800, respectively; the correlation coefficients of the prediction set (Rpre) were 0.9888, 0.9359, 0.9410, 0.9805 and 0.9785, respectively; the root mean square error of validation (RMSEP) were 0.0402, 0.0197, 0.0593, 0.0133 and 0.0192, respectively. Subsequently, the optimal NIR models were used to study the effects of geographical regions and processing, and identify the spurious rhubarb. Collectively, NIRS may be a well-acceptable method for quality evaluation of rhubarb and other traditional Chinese medicine (TCM).

RESUMO

OBJECTIVETo explore the safety and efficacy of Shaobei injection in the management of I(-II( degree rectal prolapse.

METHODSA total of 80 patients eligible for the inclusion criteria were divided into 2 groups: 40 patients in the treatment group (treated with Shaobei injection) and 40 cases in the control group (treated with Xiaozhiling) respectively. The short-term efficacy was identified by the length of rectal prolapse and the depth of rectocele demonstrated by the defecography while the long-term efficacy was evaluated by the length of rectal prolapse. In addition, the safety was assessed by the occurrence of postoperative complications.

RESULTSThe variation of the lengths of rectal prolapse and the depth of rectocele demonstrated by the defecography at the sixth month follow up in the two groups did not reach significant difference (P>0.05). After 2 year follow up, 37 patients (92.5%) in the treatment group and 35 cases(87.5%) in the control group was cured. Therefore, there was no significant difference in the long term efficacy between the two groups (P>0.05). The adverse events in the therapy group(10%) was less than that in the control group (45%)(P<0.01).

CONCLUSIONSShaobei injection in the management of I(-II( degree rectal prolapse has a similar efficacy of short-term and long-term higher safety compared to Xiaozhiling injection.

RESUMO

Objective To study the characteristics and regularities of Chinese drugs preparations ADR in order to improve the rational drug use. Methods A total of 112 cases of TCM ADR reports collected in 2009~2011 which have been presented to the Guangzhou ADR Monitoring Center. Results Of the 112 cases,26 kinds of drugs were involved, quinquagenarian were the main crowd, intravenous infusion was the main route of administration, the main types of TCM ADR were lesions of skin and accessories. Conclusion Great importance should be attached to TCM ADR monitoring to promote rational drug use in the clinic.

RESUMO

ObjectiveTo study the diagnosis and treatment of peripelvic cysts.MethodsA view of the diagnosis and treatment of 14 cases and an evaluation of the different means of diagnosis and treatment were carried out.Results12 cases were followed up for 6~48 months post-operatively.11 cases were well recovered, with no reoccurrence or complication, and in 2 the high blood pressure dropped to normal whereas repeated urinary infection has been noted postoperatively in 1.ConclusionsB supersonic exam,KUB+IVU,CT exam are the most effective means to the diagnosis of this disease,CT exam being the first choice.Open renal cystectomy is indicated.
