RESUMO

Culture-dependent and metagenomic binning techniques were employed to gain an insight into the diversification of gut bacteria in Rhinopithecius bieti, a highly endangered primate endemic to China. Our analyses revealed that Bacillota_A and Bacteroidota were the dominant phyla. These two phyla species are rich in carbohydrate active enzymes, which could provide nutrients and energy for their own or hosts' survival under different circumstances. Among the culturable bacteria, one novel bacterium, designated as WQ 2009T, formed a distinct branch that had a low similarity to the known species in the family Sphingobacteriaceae, based on the phylogenetic analysis of its 16S rRNA gene sequence or phylogenomic analysis. The ANI, dDDH and AAI values between WQ 2009T and its most closely related strains S. kitahiroshimense 10CT, S. pakistanense NCCP-246T and S. faecium DSM 11690T were significantly lower than the accepted cut-off values for microbial species delineation. All results demonstrated that WQ 2009T represent a novel genus, for which names Rhinopithecimicrobium gen. nov. and Rhinopithecimicrobium faecis sp. nov. (Type strain WQ 2009T = CCTCC AA 2021153T = KCTC 82941T) are proposed.

RESUMO

Thermophilic semi-continuous composting (TSC) is effective for kitchen waste (KW) treatment, but large amounts of NH3-rich odorous gas are generated. This study proposes a TSC-biofiltration (BF) two-stage process. Compost from the front-end TSC was used as the packing material in the BF to remove NH3 from the exhaust gas. The BF process was effective in removing up to 83.7 % of NH3, and the NH3 content was reduced to < 8 ppm. Seven days of BF improved the quality of the product from TSC by enhancing the germination index to 134.6 %, 36.5 % higher than that in the aerated-only group. Microbial community analysis revealed rapid proliferation and eventual dominance in the BF of members related to compost maturation and the nitrogen cycle from Actinobacteria, Proteobacteria, Chloroflexi, and Bacteroidetes. The results suggest that the TSC-BF two-stage process is effective in reducing NH3 emissions from TSC and improving compost quality.

RESUMO

Current research on maize germination suffers from long sampling intervals, and the relationship between the starch structure and the processing properties of flour in maize is still unclear. This study observed the effect of germination on the structure and composition of maize starch and the processing properties of maize flour over a 72 h period using a short interval sampling method. At 36 h, the short-range ordered structure, crystallinity, and enthalpy of starch reached the highest values of 1.02, 34.30%, and 9.90 J/g, respectively. At 72 h, the ratios of rapidly-digested starch (RDS) and slowly-digested starch (SDS) enhanced to 29.37% and 28.97%; the RS content reduced to 35.37%; and the flow properties of the starch were improved. This study enhances the understanding of the effects of germination on the processing properties of maize starch and flour, determines the appropriate application, and recommends the use of germination in the food industry.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: This case of gestational gingival tumor is huge and extremely rare in clinical practice. As the growth location of this gingival tumor is in the upper anterior tooth area, it seriously affects the pregnant woman's speech and food, causing great pain to the patient. The use of Nd:YGA water mist laser to remove the gingival tumor resulted in minimal intraoperative bleeding, minimal adverse reactions, and good postoperative healing, which is worthy of clinical promotion and application. CASE SUMMARY: The patient, a pregnant woman, reported a large lump in her mouth on the first day of postpartum treatment. Based on medical history and clinical examination, the diagnosis was diagnosed as gestational gingival tumor. Postoperative pathological biopsy also confirmed this diagnosis. The use of Nd:YAG water mist laser to remove the tumor resulted in minimal intraoperative bleeding, clear surgical field of view, short surgical time, and good postoperative healing. CONCLUSION: In comparison to traditional surgery, Nd:YAG water mist laser surgery is minimally invasive, minimizes cell damage, reduces bleeding, ensures a clear field of vision, and virtually eliminates postoperative edema, carbonization, and the risk of cross infection. It has unique advantages in oral soft tissue surgery for pregnant patients. Therefore, the clinical application of Nd:YAG water mist laser for the treatment of gestational gingival tumors is an ideal choice.

RESUMO

A novel Gram-positive strain WQ 127069T that was isolated from the soil of Baima Snow Mountain, a habitat of highly endangered Yunnan snub-nosed monkeys (Rhinopithecus bieti), was subjected to a polyphasic taxonomic study. Phylogenetic analysis based on the 16S rRNA gene sequences showed that the isolate belongs to the genus Paenibacillus, showing 98.4 and 96.08 % sequence similarity to the type strains Paenibacillus periandrae PM10T and Paenibacillus foliorum LMG 31456T, respectively. The G+C content of the genomic DNA of strain WQ127069T was 45.6 mol%. The predominant isoprenoid quinone was MK-7, and meso-diaminopimelic acid was present in peptidoglycan. The major cellular fatty acids were antiiso-C15 : 0, iso-C15 : 0 and C16 : 0. The major polar lipids were phosphatidylethanolamine, phosphatidylglycerol, diphosphatidylglycerol and phosphatidylmonomethylethanolamine. The whole genome average nucleotide identity and digital DNA-DNA hybridization values between strain WQ 127069T and strain PM10T were 93.2 and 52.5 %, respectively. Growth occurred at 5-40 °C (optimally at 20-35 °C), pH 6-8 (optimally at pH7.0) and with 0.5-2 % (w/v) NaCl (optimally at 0.5 %). On the basis of the taxonomic evidence, a novel species, Paenibacillus baimaensis sp. nov., is proposed. The type strain is WQ 127069T (=KCTC 43480T=CCTCC AB 2022381T).

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: The aim of this study was to determine the poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase inhibitors (PARPis) response and outcome of ovarian cancer (OC) patients with BRCA1/2 germline mutation and a history of breast cancer (BC). METHODS: Thirty-nine OC patients with BRCA1/2 germline mutation and a history of BC were included. The clinicopathological characteristics, PARPis response and prognosis were analyzed. RESULTS: The median interval from BC to OC diagnosis was 115.3 months (range=6.4-310.1). A total of 38 patients (38/39, 97.4%) received platinum-based chemotherapy after surgical removal. The majority of these patients were reported to be platinum sensitive (92.1%, 35/38). 21 patients (53.8%) received PARPis treatment with 16 patients (76.2%) for maintenance treatment and 5 patients (5/21, 23.8%) for salvage treatment. The median duration for PARPis maintenance and salvage treatment was 14.9 months (range=2.0-56.9) and 8.2 months (range=5.2-20.7), respectively. In the entire cohort, 5-year progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS) rate was 33.1% and 78.9%, respectively. Patients with BRCA1 mutation had a non-significantly worse 5-year PFS (28.6% vs. 45.8%, p=0.346) and 5-year OS (76.9% vs. 83.3%, p=0.426) than those with BRCA2 mutation. In patients with stage III-IV (n=31), first line PARPis maintenance treatment associated with a non-significantly better PFS (median PFS: NR vs. 22.4 months; 5-year PFS: 64.3% vs. 21.9%, p=0.096). CONCLUSION: The current study shows that these patients may have a good response to platinum-based chemotherapy and a favorable survival. And these patients can benefit from PARPis treatment and will likely be suitable candidates for PARPis.

RESUMO

INTRODUCTION: The motor subtypes of Parkinson's disease (PD) are widely accepted and implemented. However, the motor subtypes have been thought to represent different stages of PD recently because some patients experience tremor-dominant (TD) conversion to the non-tremor-dominant subtype, such as postural instability-gait difficulty (PIGD). In this study, we explore the monoaminergic denervation features of the striatal and extra-striatal areas in patients with different subtypes of PD with 18F-9-fluoropropyl-(+)-dihydrotetrabenazine (18F-FP-DTBZ) PET/CT. METHODS: Sixty-five patients diagnosed with PD were included and classified as TD (n = 25) and PIGD (n = 40). We evaluated the difference of monoaminergic features of each subregion of brain between motor subtypes of PD, as well as associations between these features and Parkinsonian motor symptoms. RESULTS: The striatal standardized uptake value ratios (SUVR) showed that dopaminergic disruption of patients with PIGD was more symmetrical in the posterior ventral putamen (p < 0.001) and more severe in the ipsilateral posterior dorsal putamen (p < 0.001 corrected) compared with that of patients with TD. The severity of PIGD scores was associated with striatal dopaminergic depletion, while tremor was associated with monoaminergic changes in extra-striatal areas, including pallidus, thalamus, and raphe nuclie. CONCLUSION: These results indicate that patients with different motor subtypes may have different underlying mechanisms of PD pathogenesis. Therefore, accurate diagnosis of PD subtypes can aid prognosis evaluation and treatment decision-making.

RESUMO

In this study, qualitative and quantitative analyses of phenolic compounds in the maize germinating seed embryo, radicle, and germ were performed at 0, 48, and 96 h post-germination, followed by the evaluation of their hypoglycemic activity. The results revealed the accumulation of 80 phenolics in different parts of germinated maize, of which 47, 48, and 53 were present in the seed embryo, radicle, and germ. After germination 22, 26, and 34 polyphenols were found to differential accumulate in the seed embryo, radicle, and germ. At 96 h post-germination, the content of monomeric phenols in the germ was higher than that in the radicle and seed embryo. Moreover, the inhibitory activity of polyphenols in the germ towards α-glucosidase and α-amylase was higher than that in the radicle and seed embryo. These results indicate that germination can effectively improve the type and content of phenolic compounds in different parts of maize.

RESUMO

Background: Recent studies have shown that an imbalance in gut microbiota (GM) may not always be associated with endometriosis (EMS). To investigate this further, we conducted a two-sample Mendelian randomization study. Methods: MR analysis was performed on genome-wide association study (GWAS) summary statistics of GM and EMS. Specifically, the MiBioGen microbiota GWAS (N = 18,340) was used as exposure. The FinnGen study GWAS (8,288 EMS cases and 68,969 controls) was used as outcome. We primarily used the inverse variance weighted (IVW) method to analyze the correlation and conducted a sensitivity analysis to verify its reliability. Results: (1) MR analysis: The results of the IVW method confirmed that a total of 8 GM taxa were related to the risk of EMS. Class-Melainabacteria (p = 0.036), family-Ruminococcaceae (p = 0.037), and genus-Eubacteriumruminantium (p = 0.015) had a protective effect on EMS, whereas order-Bacillales (p = 0.046), family-Prevotellaceae (p = 0.027), genus-Anaerotruncus (p = 0.025), genus-Olsenella (p = 0.036) and genus-RuminococcaceaeUCG002 (p = 0.035) could increase the risk of EMS. (2) Sensitivity analysis: Cochrane's Q test (p > 0.05), MR-Egger intercept method (p > 0.05), and leave-one-out method confirmed the robustness of MR results. Conclusion: This study performed a MR analysis on two large national databases and identified the association between 8 GM taxa and EMS. These taxa could potentially be utilized for indirectly diagnosing EMS and could lead to novel perspectives in research regarding the pathogenesis, diagnosis, and treatment of EMS.

RESUMO

Hishimonus hamatus Kuoh is a leafhopper species native to China that feeds on Chinese jujube leaves. This leafhopper species has been verified to transmit jujube witches' broom (JWB) disease, caused by phytoplasma, a fatal plant pathogen, which belongs to the phytoplasma subgroup 16SrV-B. The transmission of JWB phytoplasma largely relies on the feeding behavior of piercing-sucking leafhoppers. However, the specific mechanisms behind how and why the infection of JWB influences the feeding behavior of these leafhoppers are not fully understood. To address this, a study was conducted to compare the feeding patterns of H. hamatus when feeding JWB-infested jujube leaves to healthy leaves using the electrical penetration graph (EPG) technique. Then, a widely targeted metabolome analysis was performed to identify differences in the metabolite composition of JWB-infected jujube leaves and that of healthy jujube leaves. The results of EPG analyses revealed that when feeding on JWB-infected jujube leaves, H. hamatus exhibited an increased frequency of phloem ingestion and spent longer in the phloem feeding phase compared to when feeding on healthy leaves. In addition, the results of metabolomic analyses showed that JWB-infected leaves accumulated higher levels of small-molecular carbohydrates, free amino acids, and free fatty acids, as well as lower levels of lignans, coumarins and triterpenoids compared to healthy leaves. The above results indicated that the H. hamatus preferentially fed on the phloem of infected leaves, which seems to be linked to the transmission of the JWB phytoplasma. The results of metabolomic analyses partially imply that the chemical compounds might play a role in making the infected leaves more attractive to H. hamatus for feeding.

RESUMO

In this work, a coumarin derivative, SWJT-14, was synthesized as a fluorescence probe to distinguish cysteine (Cys), homocysteine (Hcy) and glutathione (GSH) in aqueous solutions. The detection limit of Cys, Hcy and GSH for the probe was 0.02 µM, 0.42 µM and 0.92 µM, respectively, which was lower than biothiols in cells. The probe reacted with biothiols to generate different products with different conjugated structures. Additionally, it could distinguish Cys, Hcy and GSH using fluorescence and UV-Vis spectra. The detection mechanism was confirmed by MS. SWJT-14 was successfully used in cellular experiments and detected both endogenous and exogenous biothiols.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the influencing factors of the recurrence of IB1-IIA2 cervical squamous cell carcinoma after surgical treatment, and to explore the relationship between high-risk human papillomavirus (HR-HPV) infection and postoperative cervical squamous cell carcinoma recurrence. METHODS: Patients (n = 312) diagnosed with stage IB1-IIA2 cervical cancer and treated by radical hysterectomy and lymphadenectomy at this hospital were accrued between January 2014 and December 2016. The clinical data of these patients were analysed, and the association among clinicopathological factors, the association among clinicopathological factors, HPV infection and recurrences was investigated through Cox regression. RESULTS: The median follow-up time was 59.2 months (with a range of 14-77.9 months). The pre-operative HPV infection rate was 85.3% (266/312), and 74 patients had a high level of HPV-DNA (> 5 × 106 copy number / 104 cells). Twenty-nine patients had a postoperative persistent high level of HPV-DNA (9.3%). On multivariate analysis, deep 1/3 stromal invasion (hazard ratio [HR] 114.79, 95% confidence interval [CI] 2.821-4670.111, p = 0.012*) and postoperative persistence of high HPV-DNA levels within 12 months (HR 269.044, 95% CI 14.437-5013.754, p < 0.001*) and 24 months (HR 31.299, 95% CI 1.191-822.215, p = 0.039*) were associated with a higher local recurrence rate. CONCLUSION: Continuous high HPV-DNA levels within 24 months of an operation and deep 1/3 interstitial infiltration were independent risk factors for local recurrences of cervical cancer.

RESUMO

To explore an effective decentralized kitchen waste (KW) treatment system, the performance and bacterial community succession of thermophilic semi-continuous composting (TSC) of KW followed by static stacking (SS) was studied. A daily feeding ratio of 10% ensured stable performance of TSC using an integrated automatic reactor; the efficiencies of organic matter degradation and seed germination index (GI) reached 80.88% and 78.51%, respectively. SS for seven days further promoted the quality of the compost by improving the GI to 91.58%. Alpha- and beta-diversity analyses revealed significant differences between the bacterial communities of TSC and SS. Firmicutes, Actinobacteria, Chloroflexi, Gemmatimonadetes, and Myxococcota were dominant during the TSC of KW, whereas the members of Proteobacteria and Bacteroidetes responsible for product maturity rapidly proliferated during the subsequent SS and ultimately dominated the compost with Firmicutes and Actinobacteria. These results provide new perspectives for decentralized KW treatment using TSC for practical applications.

RESUMO

A novel near-infrared (NIR) fluorescent probe (SWJT-9) was designed and synthesized for the detection of hypochlorite anion (ClO-) using a diaminomaleonitrile group as the recognition site. SWJT-9 had large Stokes shift (237 nm) and showed an excellent NIR fluorescence response to ClO- with the color change under the visible light. It showed a low detection limit (24.7 nM), high selectivity, and rapid detection (within 2 min) for ClO-. The new detection mechanism of SWJT-9 on ClO- was confirmed by 1H NMR, MS spectrum, and the density functional theory (DFT) calculations. In addition, the probe was successfully used to detect ClO- in HeLa cells.

RESUMO

Grapholita funebrana, also known as the plum fruit moth, is an oligophagous pest species that causes enormous economic losses of the fruits of Rosaceae. An eco-friendly method for the control of G. funebrana besides chemical control has not yet been developed. The sex pheromone communication system plays an important role in moth courtship and mating, in which pheromone-binding proteins (PBPs) are critical. In this research, we identified four PBPs, namely, GfunPBP1.1, GfunPBP1.2, GfunPBP2, and GfunPBP3, from the antennae of G. funebrana. The results of real-time quantitative PCR (RT-qPCR) showed that all four GfunPBPs were overwhelmingly expressed in the antennae and that GfunPBP1.2 and GfunPBP2 showed male-biased expression patterns, whereas GfunPBP1.1 and GfunPBP3 were equally expressed between sexes. The results of ligand-binding assays illustrated that although all four recombinant GfunPBPs (rGfunPBPs) had binding activity with the tested sex pheromone compounds, their preferred ligands were significantly different. rGfunPBP2 had the strongest binding affinity to Z8-12:Ac and Z8-12:OH; rGfunPBP1.1 preferred to bind Z8-14:Ac, Z10-14:Ac, and 12:OH more than to the other three GfunPBPs; and rGfunPBP1.2 exhibited stronger binding affinity to E8-12:Ac than to the other rGfunPBPs. Molecular docking results demonstrated that hydrophobic forces, especially van der Waals forces and hydrogen bonds, were the most important forces that maintained GfunPBP-pheromone ligand complexes. This study will improve our understanding of the sex pheromone recognition mechanisms of G. funebrana and promote the development of novel strategies for controlling G. funebrana.

RESUMO

INTRODUCTION: Patients with diabetes are confronted with numerous obstacles to achieve adequate glycemic control during hospitalization. The aim of this study was to explore the risk factors associated with glycemic control in hospitalized patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) treated with continuous subcutaneous insulin infusion (CSII). METHODS: This cross-sectional study included 5223 patients hospitalized with T2DM in a tertiary hospital in Xiamen (China) between January 2017 and December 2019. All patients were managed according to established protocols for glycemic monitoring and insulin pump treatment regimens. Demographic information and clinical profiles were collected from electronic health records. Multiple linear regression analysis was used to identify the risk factors associated with glycemic control. RESULTS: Among the 5223 hospitalized patients with T2DM receiving CSII therapy, 55.2% achieved their ideal blood glucose level (3.9-10.0 mmol/L), 44.5% experienced hyperglycemia (> 10.0 mmol/L), and 0.3% experienced hypoglycemia (< 3.9 mmol/L) during their hospitalization. Multivariate analyses showed that among inpatients with T2DM, older age, male gender, higher low-density lipoprotein-cholesterol (LDL-C) level, lower C-peptide (C-P) level, lower body mass index (BMI), longer duration of diabetes, previous insulin prescriptions, nephropathy, and retinopathy were factors more likely to be associated with a blood glucose level in the hyperglycemic range (P < 0.05). We also observed that among hospitalized patients with T2DM, those with lower BMI, lower C-P, lower LDL-C, longer disease duration, and previous insulin prescriptions were more likely to correlate with a higher proportion of hypoglycemia range (all P < 0.05). CONCLUSION: Older age, male gender, lower BMI, lower C-P, higher LDL-C, previous insulin prescriptions, longer duration of diabetes, nephropathy, and retinopathy may be risk factors for a higher proportion of hyperglycemic events in hospitalized patients with T2DM under CSII therapy. Furthermore, lower BMI, lower C-P, lower LDL-C, longer duration of diabetes, and previous insulin prescriptions were found to be important factors for a higher proportion of hypoglycemic events. Evaluating the clinical features, comorbidities, and complications of hospitalized patients is essential to achieve reasonable glycemic control.

RESUMO

Gut dysbiosis,a well-known risk factor to triggers the progression of Alzheimer's disease(AD),is strongly associated with metabolic disturbance.Trimethylamine N-oxide(TMAO),produced in the dietary choline metabolism, has been found to accelerate neurodegeneration in AD pathology. In this study, the cognitive function and gut microbiota of TgCRND8(Tg)mice of different ages were evaluated by Morris water maze task(MWMT)and 16S rRNA sequencing, respectively.Young pseudo germ-free(PGF)Tg mice that received faecal microbiota transplants from aged Tg mice and wild-type(WT)mice were selected to determine the role of the gut microbiota in the process of neuropathology.Excessive choline treatment for Tg mice was used to investigate the role of abnormal choline metabolism on the cognitive functions. Our results showed that gut dysbiosis, neuroinflammation response,Aβ deposition, tau hyper-phosphorylation,TMAO overproduction and cyclin-dependent kinase 5(CDK5)/transcription 3(STAT3)activation occurred in Tg mice age-dependently.Disordered microbiota of aged Tg mice accelerated AD pathology in young Tg mice, with the activation of CDK5/STAT3 signaling in the brains. On the contrary, faecal microbiota transplantation from WT mice alleviated the cognitive deficits, attenuated neuro-inflammation,Aβ deposition, tau hyperphosphorylation,TMAO overproduction and suppressed CDK5/STAT3 pathway activation in Tg mice. Moreover, excessive choline treatment was also shown to aggravate the cognitive deficits,Aβ deposition, neuroinflammation and CDK5/STAT3 pathway activation. These findings provide a novel insight into the interaction between gut dysbiosis and AD progression, clarifying the important roles of gut microbiota-derived substances such as TMAO in AD neuropathology.

RESUMO

Purpose: To explore the relationship between retinoic acid receptor gamma (RARG) and ovarian cancer (OC) cell proliferation and the prognosis of patients. Methods: The transcriptome and clinical information of 379 OC and 88 normal ovarian samples were downloaded from the Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) database and the Genotype Tissue Expression (GTEx) database. We compared the mRNA level of RARG between ovrian normal and tumor tissues with the Wilcoxon rank sum test. The R package "limma" was used to analyze the differences in RARG expression between different clinical subgroups. Kaplan-Meier analysis was applied to evaluate the correlation between RARG and prognosis of patients. A nomogram was established to predict the effect of RARG on prognosis of OC patients. Immunohistochemistry and qRT-PCR experiments were conducted to determine the differential expression of RARG between ovarian normal and tumor tissues. Finally, we altered RARG expression using specific siRNA and lentiviral expression vectors to explore the function of RARG by CCK-8, cell cycle, colony formation, and xenograft assays in nude mice. Results: RARG was highly expressed in ovarian tumors and was an independent predictor of poor overall survival outcomes. Subgroup analysis showed the high expression of RARG was related to FIGO stage III-IV (P=0.027), overall survival time <5 years (P=0.013) and dead status (P=0.041). The Kaplan-Meier curve indicated that patients with high RARG expression level had poor prognosis. The area under the curve (AUC) of RAGR expression for predicting patient survival rates at 1, 5 and 9 years were 0.659, 0.616 and 0.627, respectively. The GSEA enrichment analysis revealed that RARG was involved in ovarian cancer progression through multiple pathways. In cellular experiments in vitro, downregulation of RARG expression significantly suppressed the proliferation and colony formation capacity of OC cells. In cellular experiments in vivo, knockdown of RARG significantly reduced tumor growth in nude mice, decreased expression levels of Ki-67 and proliferation cell nuclear antigen (PCNA). Conclusions: High expression of RARG could promote OC cell proliferation and was an independent predictor of poor prognosis. RARG might work as a potential molecular target and biomarker for individualized diagnosis and treatment in OC patients.

RESUMO

Purpose: Lymph node (LN) involvement is a key factor in ovarian clear cell carcinoma (OCCC) although, there several indicators can be used to define prognosis. This study examines the prognostic performances of each indicator for OCCC patients by comparing the number of lymph nodes examined (TNLE), the number of positive lymph nodes (PLN), lymph node ratio (LNR), and log odds of metastatic lymph nodes (LODDS). Methods: 1,300 OCCC patients who underwent lymphadenectomy between 2004 and 2015 were extracted from the Surveillance Epidemiology and End Results (SEER) database. Primary outcomes were Overall Survival (OS) and the cumulative incidence of Cancer-Specific Survival (CSS). Kaplan-Meier's and Fine-Gray's tests were implemented to assess OS and CSS rates. After conducting multivariate analysis, nomograms using OS and CSS were constructed based upon an improved LN system. Each nomograms' performance was assessed using Receiver Operating Characteristics (ROC) curves, calibration curves, and the C-index which were compared to traditional cancer staging systems. Results: Multivariate Cox's regression analysis was used to assess prognostic factors for OS, including age, T stage, M stage, SEER stage, and LODDS. To account for the CSS endpoint, a proportional subdistribution hazard model was implemented which suggested that the T stage, M stage, SEER stage, and LNR are all significant. This enabled us to develop a LODDS-based nomogram for OS and a LNR-based nomogram for CSS. C-indexes for both the OS and CSS nomograms were higher than the traditional American Joint Committee on Cancer (AJCC), 8th edition, staging system. Area Under the Curve (AUC) values for predicting 3- and 5-year OS and CSS between nomograms also highlighted an improvement upon the AJCC staging system. Calibration curves also performed with consistency, which was verified using a validation cohort. Conclusions: LODDS and LNR may be better predictors than N stage, TNLE, and PLNs. For OCCC patients, both the LODDS-based and LNR-based nomograms performed better than the AJCC staging system at predicting OS and CSS. However, further large sample, real-world studies are necessary to validate the assertion.
