RESUMO

The composition of influenza vaccines is updated annually. To ensure vaccine safety, the coverage and adverse events following immunization (AEFI) of 6 manufacturers of trivalent inactivated influenza vaccine (TIV3) need to be evaluated. In January 2022, we analyzed data from more than 1.59 million children in the Childhood Vaccination Information Management System and the AEFI Surveillance Information Management System and evaluated influenza vaccines for children aged 6 to 35 months in Guangzhou from 2016/17 to 2019/20 Vaccination rates and AEFI reporting rates. From 2016/17 to 2019/20, the 1-dose influenza vaccination rate was 25.0% (range: 20.7%-30.2%), and the 2-dose (full course) influenza vaccination rate was 21.6% (range: 17.7%-26.4%). The full vaccination coverage rate has trended down since 2017/2018 (2017/18: 26.0%; 2018/19: 8.3; 2019/20: 17.7%). Fifty-two cases (13.1/100 000) and 24 cases (6.9/100 000) received AEFI reports for 1 dose and 2 doses, respectively, mainly due to fever ≥38.6°C (39 cases for 1 dose, 9.8/100 000; 15 cases for 2 dose, 4.3/100 000) and allergic rash (9 cases with 1 dose, 2.3/100 000; 5 cases with 2 doses, 1.4/100 000). Patients who received A and F manufacturers were more likely to report side effects. The safety of influenza vaccines from 6 manufacturers is good, and it is necessary to improve the recommended information on influenza vaccines to dispel people's concerns and increase the vaccination rate.

RESUMO

Yippee-like 2 (YPEL2) is expressed in tissues and organs enriched in vascular networks, such as heart, kidney, and lung. However, the roles of YPEL2 in endothelial cell senescence and the expression of YPEL2 in atherosclerotic plaques have not yet been investigated. Here, we report the essential role of YPEL2 in promoting senescence in human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) and the upregulation of YPEL2 in human atherosclerotic plaques. YPEL2 was significantly upregulated in both H2O2-induced senescent HUVECs and the arteries of aged mice. Endothelial YPEL2 deficiency significantly decreased H2O2-increased senescence-associated beta-galactosidase (SA-ß-gal) activity and reversed H2O2-inhibited cell viability. Additionally, endothelial YPEL2 knockdown reduced H2O2-promoted THP-1 cell adhesion to HUVECs and downregulated ICAM1 and VCAM1 expression. Mechanistic studies divulged that the p53/p21 pathway was involved in YPEL2-induced cellular senescence. We conclude that YPEL2 promotes cellular senescence via the p53/p21 pathway and that YPEL2 expression is elevated in atherosclerosis. These findings reveal YPEL2 as a potential therapeutic target in aging-associated diseases.

RESUMO

In this study, peanut hulls powder (PHP) was treated via mechanical activation (MA) and divided into three groups (control, PHP150 and PHP250). Physicochemical properties including mean particle size distribution (MPSD), powder properties, solubility and in vitro protein digestibility of PHP were then investigated. The results showed that MA could decrease the particle size of PHP by destroying its crystal structure, resulting in an increase of amorphization and a decrease of crystallinity and crystalline size. The results of in vitro protein digestibility and crude fiber contents showed that MA increased the protein digestibility of PHP by 43.32% and 74.70% (P < 0.05), while crude fiber content was decreased by 0.42% and 26.65% (P < 0.05). These findings indicated a large application potential of MA in PHP treatment. Supplementary Information: The online version contains supplementary material available at 10.1007/s10068-022-01084-1.

RESUMO

Background: Since 2016, China has approved the use of inactivated enterovirus 71 (EV71) vaccines produced by three manufacturers. The coverage and safety of different EV71 vaccines need to be evaluated.Research design and methods: The EV71 vaccination and AEFI data were collected from the Guangzhou Children's Vaccination Information Report Management System and the China AEFI Monitoring Information Management System, and the EV71 vaccine coverage rate and the AEFI incidence rate were analyzed. Results: From 2016 to 2019, the number of people who should have been vaccinated in Guangzhou was 2,781,618, and the coverage rates for doses 1 and 2 were 24.71% and 19.44%, respectively. The inoculation rates of vaccines from manufacturers A and B were between 3.03 and 10.46%. The reported incidence of AEFIs was 11.97 per 100,000 (147 cases), with fever (106 cases, 8.63 per 100,000) and allergic rash (59 cases, 4.80 per 100,000) being the most common reactions. There were no differences in the AEFI responses to the EV71 vaccines from the three manufacturers. Conclusion: The EV71 vaccines from the three manufacturers have good safety, but the EV71 vaccine coverage rate is low. It is recommended that vaccine publicity be strengthened and that the vaccine coverage rate in children be increased.

RESUMO

The objective of this work was to investigate the effect of berberine (BBR) on the Cell viability, lipid accumulation, apoptosis, cytochrome c, caspase-9 and caspase-3 in lipid accumulation-hepatocytes induced by sodium palmitate in vitro. The lipid accumulation-hepatocytes (induced by 0.5 mM sodium palmitate for 24 h) were treated with 5 µM berberine for 12 h. Then, the Cell viability, intracellular triglyceride (TG) content, lipid peroxide (LPO), malonaldehyde (MDA) content, cytochrome c, caspase-9, caspase-3 and apoptosis were detected. Sodium palmitate decreased Cell viability and increased intracellular TG content, lipid droplet accumulation, LPO and MDA concentrations, caused caspase-3 and caspase-9 activation, then led to apoptosis accompanied by cytochrome c release from mitochondria into the cytoplasm. Beberine could improve intracellular lipid droplet accumulation and oxidative stress, while reduce apoptosis induced by sodium palmitate.

RESUMO

This study tested the effect of berberine on autophagy-related protein of Megalobrama amblycephala fed with high fat diet under different feeding modes. The full-length complementary DNA (cDNA) of microtubule-associated protein 1-light chain 3B (LC3B) was 1871 bp with an open reading frame of 378 bp encoding 125 amino acids. High homology at nucleotide and amino acid sequences to carp LC3B was revealed though sequence analysis. LC3B was mainly (P < 0.05) expressed in hepatopancreas but lower in several peripheral tissues, including gill, intestine, kidney, and spleen. The fish (average initial weight 4.70 ± 0.02 g) were fed with eight experiment diets containing two lipid levels (5 and 10%) or four berberine-feeding modes (without berberine, supplementing 50 mg/kg berberine at 2-week intervals, 4-week intervals, or continuous) for 8 weeks. The results showed that the numbers of autophagosomes and hepatopancreas LC3B messenger RNA (mRNA) expression levels were significantly (P < 0.05) affected both by dietary lipid level and beberine feeding mode, and the highest (P < 0.05) numbers of autophagosomes and LC3B expression levels were observed in fish at berberine continuous feeding mode groups. The findings may provide the molecular mechanisms underlying lipid metabolism and immune effect of berberine, which was associated with enhanced autophagy in fish.

RESUMO

Hydrothermally stable mesoporous aluminosilicates Al-SBA-1 with hierarchical pore structure have been successfully synthesized under alkaline condition at 120 °C by employing organic mesomorphous complexes of polyelectrolyte (poly(acrylic acid) (PAA)) and cationic surfactant (hexadecyl pyridinium chloride (CPC)) as template. The Si/Al ratio could be as high as 5 and the incorporation of Al into the silica framework did not disturb the well-ordered cubic Pm ̅3n mesostructure. Meanwhile, the incorporation of Al could greatly increase the specific surface area and pore volume of the samples. The Al-SBA-1 materials exhibited a high hydrothermal stability and remained stable even after being treated in boiling water for 10 days. The catalytic activity of the Al-SBA-1 materials was investigated by employing the Friedel-Crafts alkylation of toluene with benzyl alcohol as a model reaction and they exhibited excellent catalytic property due to the incorporated acid sites and the hierarchically mesoporous structure.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To study the immunization coverage and immune effects of hepatitis B vaccine (HepB) among people who were immunized later than at birth in Guangzhou city. METHODS: A multistage randomized cluster sampling was used and the subjects were at age 20 to 59 years old, from the families of twelve districts in Guangzhou. Cross sectional analysis was carried out. Every study subject's HepB immunization history and main risk were investigated through questionnaire. Venous blood samples were collected and then tested for HBsAg and anti-HBs by means of ELISA. The immunization coverage rate of HepB, prevalence rates of HBsAg and anti-HBs among every age group were valuated by sampling weights. The protective efficacy of the people with immunization of HepB was assessed by case-control study. RESULTS: The overall immunization rate of HepB was 24.71% (95%CI: 20.86%-28.56%) in the 20-59 age group. HBsAg prevalence rate was 14.91% (95%CI: 12.73%-17.08%), and 8.52% in vaccinated group while 18.15% in the non-vaccinated group. Results from case-control study showed that HepB had good protective efficacy to HBV in people of 20-59 years old. The protective rate of HepB against HBV was 62.6%. CONCLUSION: Vaccinating HepB on people after the neonatal period also non-newborn could provide good immune effect to HBV.

RESUMO

Taking 200 healthy broilers at 14 d of age as test materials, the free radicals in their blood and tissues were detected by electron spin resonance (ESR) and biochemical methods, aimed to investigate the effects of vitamin E (V(E)) and selenium (Se) on the metabolism of different free radicals and their dynamic changes in the broilers. The results showed that the content of NO free radicals in broilers tissues decreased with increasing supplementing level of V(E), while high supplementation of Se tended to induce the production of NO free radicals. High supplementation of V(E) and Se in feeds improved the GSH-Px and SOD activities in broilers serum and liver significantly. With the extension of experimental period, the SOD activity in tissues decreased, while GSH-PX activity increased gradually, implying that the deficiency of V(E) and/or Se might induce the overproduction of O2*- and H2O2 free radicals. H2O2 free radicals might be produced largely at early stage of V(E) and Se deficiency and declined then, while the over-production of O2*- free radicals could maintain for a long time. The deficiency of V(E) and/or Se could improve the MDA content significantly, and Se deficiency had higher effects than V(E) deficiency. There were synergic effects in the metabolism of NO, O2 and H2O2 free radicals.
