Confirmatory testing of 120 positive HIV antibody screening samples in Lanxi City / 预防医学

Objective@#To analyze the confirmatory test results of 120 positive HIV antibody screening samples in Lanxi City, Zhejiang Province, so as to provide insights into AIDS detection and control. Methods Western blotting confirmatory assay was performed on 120 positive HIV antibody samples from HIV screening laboratories in Lanxi City from 2020 to 2022. The confirmatory test results were determined according to the “National Technical Guidelines for AIDS Testing (2020 revision)” and “Diagnosis for HIV/AIDS” (WS 293-2019), and the positive rate of confirmatory test and band distribution were analyzed. @*Methods @#Western blotting confirmatory assay was performed on 120 positive HIV antibody samples from HIV screening laboratories in Lanxi City from 2020 to 2022. The confirmatory test results were determined according to the “National Technical Guidelines for AIDS Testing (2020 revision)” and “Diagnosis for HIV/AIDS” (WS 293-2019), and the positive rate of confirmatory test and band distribution were analyzed.@*Results@#Among 120 positive HIV antibody screening samples, there were 100 HIV-1 antibody positive samples (83.33%) as revealed by Western blotting confirmatory assay, 6 HIV antibody negative samples (5.00%), and 14 HIV-1 indeterminate tests (11.67%). There were 72 men and 28 men tested positive for HIV-1 antibody, with a male to female ratio of 2.57∶1, and there were 88 patients at ages of 20 to 59 years (88.00%), with the highest frequency of gp160, gp120 and p24 bands (100.00%). The most common Western blotting band pattern was p24 among HIV-1 indeterminate tests (78.57%). Among all HIV-1 indeterminate Western blotting tests, 6 cases were tested positive for HIV-1 antibody (gp160+p24) and 8 cases tested negative for HIV antibody during the follow-up period. @*Conclusions@# The prevalence of HIV-1 antibody was 83.33% in 120 positive HIV antibody screening samples in Lanxi City. The three most common Western blotting band patterns were gp160, gp120 and p24. The follow-up requires to be reinforced in HIV-1 indeterminate Western blotting tests for early identification and early intervention.

Intraday return predictability: Evidence from commodity ETFs and their related volatility indices.

Using high-frequency data of crude oil, gold, and silver exchange-traded funds (ETFs) and their related volatility indices, we analyse patterns of intraday return predictability, also called intraday momentum, in each market. We find that intraday return predictability exists in all the markets, but the patterns of predictability differ for each market, with different half-hour returns, not necessarily the first half-hour returns of the trading day, exhibiting significant predictability for their last half-hour counterparts, depending on the specific market. The intraday return predictability is stronger on days of higher volatility and larger jumps. Substantial economic value can be generated by a market timing strategy which is constructed upon the intraday momentum, in all the markets under study. Possible theoretical explanations for the intraday return predictability are infrequent portfolio rebalancing investors and late-informed investors.

Total and sn-2 fatty acid profile of breast milk from women delivering preterm infants under the influence of maternal characteristics.

Data on the total fatty acid (FA) profile and position-specific triacylglycerides (TAGs) in preterm infants' maternal milk are essential for establishing the recommended requirement of FA in preterm infants in China. We aimed to determine the composition and positional distribution of FAs in preterm infants' maternal milk in China and further investigate the effect of maternal background on the FA composition. Breast milk samples (4, 11, 30, 60, and 90 (all ±3) days post-partum) were collected from 59 healthy women delivering preterm infants. The total and sn-2 milk FA composition was determined using gas chromatography. The multivariate statistical analysis showed significant differences in the FA profiles of milk with different lactation times, gestational ages and maternal ages. In particular, the content of linoleic and linolenic acid (ALA) was much higher, whereas the content of docosahexaenoic (DHA) and arachidonic acid were lower in the preterm milk from the Wuxi district than that from America and countries in Europe. The content of sn-2 polyunsaturated FAs (ALA: p = 0.013 and DHA: p = 0.003) were lower in the preterm colostrum from women aged over 30 years. Overall, these results suggest that the European and American standards of preterm formula may not be suitable for Chinese preterm infants, and polyunsaturated FA fortification in the maternal diet or preterm formula is needed for women with advanced age.

[Clinical analysis of different canalith repositioning maneuver in treatment of apogeotropic nystagmus of horizontal semicircular canal benign paroxysmal positional vertigo].

OBJECTIVE: To analyze the clinical effect of different canalith repositioning maneuver in the treatment of the apogeotropic nystagmus of horizontal semicircular canal benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (apogeotropic HSC-BPPV). METHOD: Forty patients of apogeotropic HSC-BPPV colleted from March 2014 to May 2015 were divided into two groups, each group had 20 cases. The control group was repositioned with the Gufoni maneuver before the Barbecue maneuver, the research group with the improved Nuti maneuver. RESULT: The success rate of the research group was not lower than that of the control group, which hadn't statistical (P > 0.05). And after the Barbecue maneuver, all patients have been recovered. CONCLUSION: Comparing with the Gufoni maneuver, the improved Nuti maneuver designed by us, had the same success rate to treat apogeotropic HSC-BPPV, and is easier to learn,with more compliance,more comfort and more repeatability.
