RESUMO

Circular RNA (circ)_0000326 has been reported in bladder cancer and cervical cancer and is concerned to be involved with the development of cancerous cells. Whereas, there have been no reports concentrating on the influences of circ_0000326 in breast cancer (BC). Therefore, the latent modulatory mechanisms of circ_0000326 in BC are researched. circ_0000326 expression in BC tissues and correlative cells was evaluated via RT-qPCR, and the relevance between circ_0000326 expression and overall survival and the clinicopathological feature was also investigated. After a series of transfection, the effects of circ_0000326, microRNA-9-3p (miR-9-3p), and Yes-associated protein 1 (YAP1) in BC cell growth, invasion, and stemness were studied by CCK-8, flow cytometry, Transwell, and sphere-forming assays. The binding sites and correlation of circ_0000326, miR-9-3p, and YAP1 were certified via starBase website, luciferase reporter assay, and Pearson's χ2 test. The in vivo experiment was evaluated by establishing a subcutaneous tumorigenesis model. High-expressed circ_0000326 in BC tissues and cells was discovered, which was connected with an undesirable prognosis. Silencing of circ_0000326 visibly inhibited MCF-7 and BT549 cell growth, invasion, stemness, meanwhile declining the protein levels of SRY-related high-mobility group box gene 2 (SOX2) and octamer binding transcription factor 4 (OCT4). miR-9-3p was a sponger of circ_0000326, which was negatively regulated by circ_0000326. Moreover, YAP1 was confirmed as a target gene of miR-9-3p. circ_0000326 affected BC cell behaviors via mediating miR-9-3p and YAP1. Furthermore, circ_0000326 silencing prohibited tumor growth of BC in vivo. The research uncovered that circ_0000326 facilitated BC development via mediating the miR-9-3p/YAP1 axis.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Considering cancer death is second only to accidental death in the number of lives claimed each year, nurses in paediatric oncology wards often experience helplessness, sadness, frustration and such other adverse emotions when they witness children's death due to cancer. However, there is a lack of qualitative studies on nurses who witness the death of children in paediatric oncology wards in China. METHOD: A qualitative study was conducted using a semi-structured interview guide with 22 paediatric oncology ward nurses. Interviews were recorded and simultaneously translated and transcribed. Thematic analysis was used to analyse the data. RESULTS: The analysis resulted in the identification of three main thematic categories: Different emotional expression, Different copingstrategies, A weak support system. Nursing managers should pay attention to problems faced by nurses in paediatric oncology wards, and take targeted measures in terms of continuing training courses, improving the psychological adaptability of oncology professional nurses, and providing them substantive support. CONCLUSION: Nurses in paediatric oncology wards have strong stress responses to facing the death of children. They reported experiencing complex psychological feelings and have different coping attitudes. Healthcare authorities should recognise and understand the needs of paediatric oncology ward nurses, who often witness the death of children. Appropriate and effective support measures should be planned and implemented for these nurses to maintain their mental health, thus enabling them to better serve patients.

RESUMO

Objective: Accumulating evidence indicates that inflammation abnormalities may contribute to aggression behaviors in psychotic patients, however, the possible sources of inflammation remain elusive. We aimed to evaluate the associations among aggression, inflammation, and bacterial translocation (BT) in aggression-affected schizophrenia (ScZ) inpatients with 2 weeks of antipsychotics discontinuation. Methods: Serum specimens collected from 112 aggression and 112 non-aggression individuals with ScZ and 56 healthy adults were used for quantifications of inflammation- or BT-related biomarkers. Aggression severity was assessed by Modified Overt Aggression Scale (MOAS). Results: Proinflammation phenotype dominated and leaky gut-induced BT occurred only in cases with ScZ with a history of aggression, and the MOAS score positively related to levels of C-reactive protein, interleukin (IL)-6, IL-1ß, and tumor necrosis factor-α. Furthermore, serum levels of BT-derived lipopolysaccharide (LPS), as well as LPS-responded soluble CD14, were not only positively correlated with levels of above proinflammation mediators but also the total MOAS score and subscore for aggression against objects or others. Conclusion: Our results collectively demonstrate the presence of leaky gut and further correlate BT-derived LPS and soluble CD14 to onset or severity of aggression possibly by driving proinflammation response in inpatients with ScZ, which indicates that BT may be a novel anti-inflammation therapeutic target for aggression prophylaxis.

RESUMO

ZnO nanorod arrays (NRAs) were fabricated on polyester fabrics (PFs) by a two-step method and modified with Ag by magnetron sputtering. The photogenerated charge transport properties of the Ag/ZnO nanorod heterojunctions were studied by a self-made Kelvin probe system and a surface photovoltage (SPV) test system. The measured work functions (WFs) of the deposited Ag and ZnO nanorod are 4.67 and 5.56 eV, respectively. The SPV spectra indicate that the direction of the inner electric field is from the Ag layer to the inner of the ZnO nanorod. The enhancement of light absorption by the local surface plasma resonance (LSPR) effect of Ag/ZnO NRA was observed by Raman microspectroscopy and UV-vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy. The photocatalytic activity of the Ag/ZnO NRA-functionalized PFs was evaluated by the photocatalytic degradation of Rhodamine B (RB) solution under visible light. The full photo-oxidation of RB and the outperforming ZnO NRA-coated PFs demonstrate that the enhanced photocatalytic performance of Ag/ZnO NRA-coated PFs results from the cooperation of the inner electric field of the Ag/ZnO nanorod heterojunction and Ag LSPR.

RESUMO

The aim of the study described here was to compare the effectiveness of focused ultrasound surgery (FUS), which uses high-intensity focused ultrasound to perform tissue ablation, with that of hysteroscopic transcervical resection of myoma (TCRM) for the treatment of type 2 submucosal fibroids. A prospective cohort study was performed in patients who underwent FUS or TCRM from January 2012 to December 2014. Uterine Fibroid Symptom (UFS) and Quality of Life (QoL) questionnaires were used to measure fibroid-related symptoms and quality of life before and at 3, 6 and 12 mo after treatment. Technical results, adverse events and post-operative recovery times of both groups were also compared. A total of 81 patients with at least one type 2 submucosal fibroid were enrolled. The mean diameter of type 2 submucosal fibroids was 3.8 ± 0.9 cm (range: 2.0-5.0 cm) for 39 patients in the FUS group and 3.5 ± 0.8 cm (range: 2.0-4.8 cm) for the 42 patients enrolled in the TCRM group. No major complication occurred in any patients for either treatment. In both groups, the UFS score decreased significantly and the QoL score increased significantly from baseline successively at 3, 6 and 12 mo post-treatment (p < 0.05). Time spent in hospital post-treatment was significantly shorter (2.56 ± 0.98 d) for the FUS group compared with the TCRM group (3.31 ± 0.60 d) (p < 0.05). Time to return to work after treatment was also significantly shorter for the FUS group (3.14 ± 0.83 d) than for the TCRM group (6.09 ± 0.9 d) (p < 0.05). FUS and TCRM are both tolerable and effective treatments with significant improvement of symptom and quality of life for patients with type 2 submucosal fibroids ≤5 cm in diameter.
