RESUMO

This study examined the influence of tail risks on global financial markets, which aids in better understanding of the emergence of COVID-19. This study looks at the global and Vietnamese stock markets impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic to identify systemic emergencies. Risk dependent value (CoVaR) and Delta link VaR are two important tail-related risk indicators used in Conditional Bivariate Dynamic Correlation (DCC) (CoVaR). The empirical findings demonstrate that when COVID-19's worldwide spread widens, the volatility transmission of systemic risks across the global stock market and multiple exchanges shifts and becomes more relevant over time. At the time of COVID-19, the world industrial market was larger than the Vietnamese stock market, and the Vietnamese stock market posed a lesser danger to the global market. A closer examination of the link between the Vietnam value-at-risk (VaR) range index sample and the world stock index indicates a significant degree of downside risk integration in key monetary systems, particularly during the COVID-19 era. Our study findings may help regulators, politicians, and portfolio risk managers in Vietnam and worldwide during the unique moment of uncertainty created by the COVID-19 epidemic.

RESUMO

Ischiopagus conjoined twinning is a rare congenital defect. The surgical separation of conjoined twins is difficult because of the complex anatomy and physiology. Careful preoperative assessment, planning, and effective surgical teams are critically important for achieving a good outcome. We describe the successful separation of ischiopagus tetrapus conjoined twins as a representative case demonstrating the growth of pediatric surgery in southern Vietnam.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVES: We report the prevalence of tobacco smoking among adult populations in Vietnam, 2015. METHODS: The Vietnam GATS 2015 was a nationally representative survey. 9513 households were selected using two-stage random systematic sampling method. Handheld computers were used for capturing data. Data collection was carried-out by National Statistics Office of Vietnam in 2015. Weight was used in all estimates. RESULTS: The Vietnam GATS 2015 found that the prevalence of smoking in Vietnam was 22.5% overall, 45.3% among men, and 1.1% among women. The overall 2015-2010 reduction in prevalence of any tobacco product was 5.3%. However, the reduction was not statistically significant. The significant reduction in prevalence of tobacco smoking was found for any type of cigarette (-8.4%), and especially for hand-rolled cigarettes (-38.3%). The use of cigarettes significantly decreased in urban areas (-14.7%). CONCLUSION: The reduction in the prevalence of tobacco smoking in Vietnam during the last 5 years (2010-2015) has not been as high as expected, especially in rural areas. Further efforts are needed to continue to reduce the harms caused by tobacco smoking.

RESUMO

Oxydianiline-pyromellitic dianhydride poly(amic acid) (ODA-PMDA PAA) was polymerized with a catalyst support of triethyl amine for controlling molecular weight. This polymer was used for electrospinning in the preparation of PAA nanofibers, a precursor of carbon nanofibers. Here the amount of catalyst and concentration of PAA solution were optimized to produce polyimide-based carbon nanofibers approximately 80 nm in diameter. The effects of molecular weight of PAA, bias voltage, and spinning rate on the morphology of electrospun PAA and polyimide nanofibers have been evaluated. We showed that the conductivity of the carbon nanofiber mat decreased with increasing nanofiber diameter, where the conductivity of polyimide-based carbon nanofiber mat was much higher than those of other types of carbon nanofiber mat. The key ingredient to increase conductivity in a carbon nanofiber mat was found to be the number of cross junctions between nanofibers.
