RESUMO

AIM: To determine the association of the presence of diabetes and, among persons with diabetes, the age at type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) onset, BMI and the interactive effect with the subsequent thyroid cancer risk. MATERIALS AND METHODS: We conducted a population register-based longitudinal cohort study in Shanghai, including 428 568 persons with new-onset T2DM matched with the general population. The risk of thyroid cancer among subgroups was calculated based on standardized incidence ratio (SIR), hazard ratio (HR) and Cox proportional hazards models. RESULTS: In total, 1142 thyroid cancer cases were identified during 8 years of follow-up, with an incidence rate of 59.01/100 000 person-years and a higher risk (SIR = 1.21) compared with the general population. The earlier age at T2DM onset and higher BMI were associated with an increasing risk of thyroid cancer independently (onset age <50, SIR: 1.46; BMI ≥30.0 kg/m2, SIR: 1.93), with the highest risk in patients with both BMI ≥30.0 kg/m2 and onset age <50 years (SIR = 3.91, HR = 3.04). Among patients with T2DM onset age <60 years, SIR increased with higher BMI, while there were no trends when onset age ≥60 years. Among patients with BMI ≥25.0 kg/m2, SIR increased with an earlier onset age, whereas no trends were shown in the BMI <24.9 kg/m2 groups. Obese (BMI ≥30.0 kg/m2) patients had a significantly higher HR of thyroid cancer only when T2DM onset age <60 years. CONCLUSIONS: Both earlier age of T2DM onset (<50 years) and higher BMI (≥30 kg/m2) contributed to the higher risk of thyroid cancer. Patients with young-onset T2DM and obesity are considered more vulnerable to thyroid cancer development.

RESUMO

Cancer antigen 72-4 (CA72-4) is an important marker of cancer detection, and accurate detection of CA72-4 is urgently required. Herein, a sandwich-type immunosensor was constructed for detection CA72-4 based on composite nanomaterial as the substrate material and trimetal nanoparticles as the nanoprobe. The composite nanomaterial rGO-TEPA/ZIF67@ZIF8/Au used as a selective bio-recognition element were modified on the glassy carbon electrode (GCE) surface. Meanwhile, the electrochemical nanoprobes were fabricated through the AuPdRu trimeric metal. After the target antigen 72-4 were captured, the nanoprobes were further assembled to form an antibody1 (Ab1)- antigen-antibody2 (Ab2) nanoprobes sandwich-like system on the electrode surface. Then, hybrid the substrate material rGO-TEPA/ZIF67@ZIF8/Au and the AuPdRu trimeric metal nanoprobes efficiently catalyzed the reduction of H2O2 and amplified the electrochemical signals. Cyclic voltammetry (CV), differential pulse voltammetry (DPV), electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), and Chronoamperometry (I-T) methods were used to characterize the performance and detection capabilities for CA72-4 of the prepared immunosensors. The results showed that the detection limit was 1.8 × 10-5 U/mL (S/N = 3), and the linear range was 0.001-1000 U/mL. This study provides a new signal amplification strategy for electrochemical sensors and a theoretical basis for the clinical application of immunosensor to detect other tumor markers.

RESUMO

To accurately detect tumor marker carbohydrate antigen 72-4 (CA72-4) of serum samples is of great significance for the early diagnosis of malignant tumors. In the present study, MnO2/hollow nanobox metal-organic framework (HNM)-AuPtPd nanocomposites were prepared via multi-step synthesis and superposition method and a series of characterizations were carried out. A highly sensitive immunosensor Ab/MnO2/HNM-AuPtPd/GCE based on the composite nanomaterial was further prepared and used to detect the tumor marker CA72-4. The constructed immunosensor achieved signal amplification by increasing the electrocatalytic activity to H2O2 by means of the synergistic effect of MnO2 ultra-thin nanosheets (MnO2 UNs) and HNM-AuPtPd. At the same time, the electrochemical properties of the immunosensor were analyzed using cyclic voltammetry, electrochemical impedance, amperometry (with the test voltage of -0.4 V), and differential pulse voltammetry. The experimental results showed that the MnO2/HNM-AuPtPd nanocomposites were successfully prepared, and the immunosensor Ab/MnO2/HNM-AuPtPd/GCE demonstrated an excellent electrochemical performance. The electrochemical immunosensor had the highest detection sensitivity under the optimal experimental conditions, such as incubation pH of 7.0, incubation time of 60 min, with the addition of 15 µL of H2O2, and in the concentration range 0.001-500 U/mL. It had a low detection limit of 1.78×10-5 U/mL (S/N = 3). Moreover, the serum sample recovery were in the range from 99.38 to 100.52%. This study provides a new method and experimental basis for the detection of tumor markers in clinical practice.

RESUMO

PURPOSE OF REVIEW: Chronic abdominal wall pain is a poorly recognized cause of chronic abdominal pain, and patients frequently go misdiagnosed despite a battery of medical tests. The Carnett's test is a diagnostic tool used to distinguish between abdominal wall pain and visceral pain. This review synthesizes the current literature on the Carnett's test, merges the viewpoints of diverse writers, and evaluates and reports on the Carnett's test's applicability. RECENT FINDINGS: Several clinical investigations have established the usefulness of the Carnett's test in the diagnosis of chronic abdominal wall pain. Furthermore, the Carnett's test is quite useful in determining the depth of the mass and detecting psychogenic abdominal pain. However, its diagnostic use for acute abdominal pain is limited. The Carnett's test is a simple and safe point-of-care diagnostic technique, with several studies supporting its usefulness. Early detection of abdominal wall pain is critical for chronic abdominal wall pain therapy. Carnett's test is very useful in patients with chronic, unexplained local abdominal discomfort who are compliant and do not have a clear rationale for surgery.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: Diabetes presenting at a younger age has a more aggressive nature. We aimed to explore the association of age at type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) diagnosis with subsequent cancer incidence in a large Chinese population. RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODS: The prospective population-based longitudinal cohort included 428,568 newly diagnosed T2DM patients from 2011 to 2018. Participants were divided into six groups according to their age at diagnosis: 20-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, and ≥75 years. The incidence of overall and 14 site-specific cancers was compared with the Shanghai general population including 100,649,346 person-years. RESULTS: A total of 18,853 and 582,643 overall cancer cases were recorded in the T2DM cohort and the general population. The age-standardized rate of overall cancer in T2DM patients was 501 (95% CI: 491, 511) per 100,000 person-years, and the standardized incidence ratio (SIR) was 1.10 (1.09, 1.12). Younger age at T2DM diagnosis was associated with higher incidence of overall and site-specific cancers. SIRs for overall cancer with T2DM diagnosis at ages 20-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, and ≥75 years were 1.48 (1.41, 1.54), 1.30 (1.25, 1.35), 1.19 (1.15, 1.23), 1.16 (1.12, 1.20), 1.06 (1.02, 1.10), and 0.86 (0.84, 0.89), respectively. Similar trends were observed for site-specific cancers, including respiratory, colorectum, stomach, liver, pancreatic, bladder, central nervous system, kidney, and gallbladder cancer and lymphoma among both males and females. CONCLUSIONS: Our findings highlight the necessity of stratifying management for T2DM according to age of diagnosis. As with a range of vascular outcomes, age-standardized cancer risks are greater in earlier compared with later onset T2DM.

RESUMO

The self-sufficient heterogeneous photo-Fenton (SH-PF) system was constructed for doxycycline hydrochloride (DOH) degradation with hydroxyapatite (Hap) modified CuFeO2 (Hap/CuFeO2) composites through H2O2 in-situ production. The modification of Hap could improve the specific surface area, visible-light response, light conversion efficiency, photoelectron lifetime and oxygen vacancies (OVs) of CuFeO2, which was conducive to H2O2 production and DOH degradation in SH-PF system. Notably, Hap/CuFeO2 fabricated with 0.5 g Hap (Hap/CuFeO2-0.5) displayed more superior performance for DOH degradation compared to other synthesized catalysts. The Hap/CuFeO2-0.5 load and initial solution pH for DOH degradation in SH-PF system were optimized, and the Hap/CuFeO2-0.5 had good reusability and stability. The •OH was the main active species for DOH degradation, and the facilitation effect of •O2- and photoelectrons on DOH degradation was associated with the H2O2 production in the present work. In addition, the capture of photogenerated holes suppressed the recombination of photogenerated carriers, elevating the production of photoelectrons and thereby enhancing H2O2 production and DOH degradation. The degradation pathways for DOH were proposed and the comprehensive toxicities of DOH were relieved after degradation in SH-PF system.

RESUMO

Mn-based catalysts have attracted much attention in the field of the low-temperature NH3 selective catalytic reduction (NH3-SCR) of NO. However, their poor SO2 resistance, low N2 selectivity, and narrow operation window limit the industrial application of Mn-based oxide catalysts. In this work, NiMnFeOx catalysts were prepared by the layered double hydroxide (LDH)-derived oxide method, and the optimized Ni0.5Mn0.5Fe0.5Ox catalyst had the best denitration activity, excellent N2 selectivity, a wider active temperature range (100-250 °C), higher thermal stability, and better H2O and/or SO2 resistance. A transient reaction revealed that Ni0.5Mn0.5Fe0.5Ox inhibited the NH3 + O2 + NOx pathway to generate N2O, which may be the main reason for its improved N2 selectivity. Combining experimental measurements and density functional theory (DFT) calculations, we elucidated at the atomic level that sulfated NiMnFeOx (111) induces the adjustment of the acidity/basicity of up and down spins and the ligand field reconfiguration of the Mn sites, which improves the overall reactivity of NiMnFeOx catalysts. This work provides atomic-level insights into the promotion of NH3-SCR activity by NiMnFeOx composite oxides, which are important for the practical design of future low-temperature SCR technologies.

RESUMO

Natural phosphorus-ferromanganese ore (NPO-NFMO) based composites by mechanical ball milling method, applying for the simultaneous remediation of arsenic (As) and lead (Pb) co-contaminated groundwater. Kinetic behavior adopted pseudo-second-order adsorption mechanism attaining equilibrium in 120 min over a wide pH range (2.0-6.0). NPO-NFMO realized higher adsorption capacity for As(III) (6.8 mg g-1) and Pb(II) (26.5 mg g-1) than those of single NPO (1.7 and 7.8 mg g-1) and NFMO (2.9 and 5.1 mg g-1), indicating that synergistic effects of NPO and NFMO considerably enhanced the adsorption capacity in mixed adsorption system. Fresh and used NPO-NFMO were characterized, and indicated that NPO-NFMO formed stable minerals of PbAs2O6 and PbFe2(AsO4)2(OH)2. The underlying adsorption mechanism indicated that As(III) and Pb(II) removal was involved with multiple mechanisms, including electrostatic adsorption, oxidation, complexation, and coprecipitation. The effects of key reaction parameters including mass ratios of NPO and NFMO, initial metal ion concentration, dosage, solution pH, and co-existing anions in groundwater were systematically investigated. The novel designed NPO-NFMO-based composites can be deemed as a promising amendment for simultaneous immobilization of As(III) and Pb(II) in co-contaminated soil and groundwater.

RESUMO

CuFeO2-modified biochars were prepared through co-precipitation and hydrothermal methods, and the composites had high efficiency removal for tetracycline (TC) from water. The CuFeO2-modified biochar with a 2:1 mass ratio of CuFeO2 to BC450 (CuFeO2/BC450=2:1) demonstrated the best adsorption performance. The kinetic process of TC adsorption by CuFeO2/BC450=2:1 was well fitted with the intraparticle diffusion model, suggesting that the adsorption process was controlled by film and pore diffusion. Under the condition of neutral pH and 298 K, the maximum adsorption capacity of the Langmuir model of CuFeO2/BC450=2:1 was 82.8 mg·g-1, which was much greater than that of BC450 (13.7 mg·g-1) and CuFeO2(14.8 mg·g-1). The thermodynamic data suggested that TC sorption onto CuFeO2/BC450=2:1 was a spontaneous and endothermic process. The removal of TC by CuFeO2/BC450=2:1 increased first and then decreased with increasing pH, and the maximum adsorption occurred under the neutral condition. The strong adsorption of TC by CuFeO2/BC450=2:1 could be attributed to better porosity, larger specific surface area, and more active sites (e.g., functional groups and charged surfaces). This work provided an efficient magnetic adsorbent for removing antibiotics.

RESUMO

Background: Chronic disease management (CDM) falls under production relations, and digital technology belongs to the realm of productivity. Production relations must adapt to the development of productivity. Simultaneously, the prevalence and burden of chronic diseases are becoming increasingly severe, leveraging digital technology to innovate chronic disease management model is essential. Methods: The model was built to cover experts in a number of fields, including administrative officials, public health experts, information technology staff, clinical experts, general practitioners, nurses, metrologists. Integration of multiple big data platforms such as General Practitioner Contract Platform, Integrated Community Multimorbidity Management System and Municipal and District-Level Health Information Comprehensive Platform. This study fully analyzes the organizational structure, participants, service objects, facilities and equipment, digital technology, operation process, etc., required for new model in the era of big data. Results: Based on information technology, we build Integrated Community Multimorbidity Care Model (ICMCM). This model is based on big data, is driven by "technology + mechanism," and uses digital technology as a tool to achieve the integration of services, technology integration, and data integration, thereby providing patients with comprehensive people-centered services. In order to promote the implementation of the ICMCM, Shanghai has established an integrated chronic disease management information system, clarified the role of each module and institution, and achieved horizontal and vertical integration of data and services. Moreover, we adopt standardized service processes and accurate blood pressure and blood glucose measurement equipment to provide services for patients and upload data in real time. On the basis of Integrated Community Multimorbidity Care Model, a platform and index system have been established, and the platform's multidimensional cross-evaluation and indicators are used for management and visual display. Conclusions: The Integrated Community Multimorbidity Care Model guides chronic disease management in other countries and regions. We have utilized models to achieve a combination of services and management that provide a grip on chronic disease management.

RESUMO

The present study synthesized a deep eutectic solvent (DES) using acrylic acid (AA), acrylamide (AM), and choline chloride (ChCl), and added phytic acid (PA) as a filler. Subsequently, the PA/P(AA-co-AM) composite hydrogel was prepared under ultraviolet irradiation and used a photoinitiator. Characterization of the hydrogels was conducted using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The study aimed to investigate the impact of PA on the mechanical properties, fatigue resistance, and electrical conductivity of the composite hydrogel. The findings demonstrated that as the mass fraction of PA increased, the compressive strength of the composite hydrogel gradually decreased, yet the fatigue resistance of the composite hydrogel increased. Specifically, after 10 cycles of compression, the resilience recovery rate of FP0 dropped from 86.9% to 70.4%, the maximum stress recovery rate of FP1 dropped from 97.9% to 89.4%, the maximum stress recovery rate of FP2 dropped from 94.4% to 86.6%, and the maximum stress recovery rate of FP3 dropped from 97.3% to 93%. Overall, this study offers a straightforward and efficient method for producing composite hydrogels with both fatigue resistance and electrical conductivity.

RESUMO

Nano Y2O3-modified biochar composites (Y2O3@BC600) were fabricated successfully and exhibited great adsorption toward oxytetracycline (OTC). The Langmuir adsorption capacity of Y2O3@BC600-1:4 for OTC reached 223.46 mg/g, 10.52 times greater than that of BC600. The higher dispersion of Y2O3 nanoparticles, increased surface area of 175.65 m2/g and expanded porosity of 0.27 cm3/g accounted for higher OTC adsorption by Y2O3@BC600-1:4. Y2O3@BC600-1:4 could resist the interference of co-existing cations (Na+, K+, Mg2+, Ca2+) and anions (Cl-, NO3-, SO42-) on OTC removal. Y2O3 coating changed surface charge property of BC600, favoring the contribution of electrostatic interaction. Synchrotron radiation-based Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy detected obvious peak shift and intensity change of surface -OH when OTC adsorption occurred. Accordingly, stronger H-bonding (charge-assisted hydrogen bond, OTC-H2N+···HO-Y2O3@BC600-1:4) was proposed for OTC adsorption. Y2O3@BC600 exhibited renewability and stability in the adsorptive removal of OTC. Therefore, Y2O3@BC600 may be a novel and suitable adsorbent for antibiotic removal.

RESUMO

The pharmaceutical factories of oxytetracycline (OTC) massively produce OTC fermentation residues (OFRs). The high content of residual OTC and antibiotic resistance genes in OFRs must to be considered and controlled at an acceptable level. This study therefore investigated the applicability of Fenton oxidation in OTC degradation and resistant gene inactivation of OFRs. The results revealed that Fe2+ as catalyzer could very rapidly activate H2O2 to produce HO•, leading to instantaneous degradation of OTC. The optimum conditions for OTC removal were 60 mM H2O2 and 140 mg/L Fe2+ under pH 7. After Fenton oxidation treatment, the release of water-soluble polysaccharides, NO3-N, and PO4-P was enhanced, whereas for proteins and NH3-N were reduced. Three soluble fluorescence components (humic, tryptophan-like, and humic acid-like substances) were identified through fluorescence spectra with parallel factor analysis, and their reduction exceeded 50% after Fenton oxidation. There were twelve intermediates and three degradation pathways of OTC in OFRs during Fenton process. According to toxicity prediction, the comprehensive toxicity of OTC in OFRs was alleviated via Fenton oxidation treatment. In addition, Fenton oxidation showed the ability to reduce antibiotic resistance genes and mobile genetic elements, and even tetO, tetG, intI1, and intI2 were eliminated completely. These results suggested that Fenton oxidation treatment could be an efficient strategy for removing OTC and resistance genes in OFRs.

RESUMO

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic autoimmune disorder characterized by systemic inflammation of the joints and extra-articular tissues. The incidence of cardiovascular disease (CVD) remains the main cause of morbidity and mortality in patients with RA. Despite the development of new therapeutics targeting the articular manifestations, the relief of the cardiovascular burden is still an unmet medical need during the management of RA. So, the early prognosis of RA-associated CVD plays a crucial role in improving the clinical outcomes of RA patients. Recently, circulating dimethylarginines have gained attention as potential biomarkers for CVDs. Here, we present the development and validation of a high-throughput liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometric (LC/MS/MS) method for simultaneous quantification of creatinine, arginine, and dimethylarginines in human serum within 2 mins by isotope dilution mass spectrometry. This method employed a protein precipitation method for rapid sample preparation, trichloroacetic acid (TCA)-based ion pairing chromatography for fast analyte separation, and multiple reaction monitoring (MRM) with stable isotope-labeled internal standards (ISs) for simultaneous quantitation. To assure the quality, our method was validated against the FDA guidelines for lower limit of quantitation (0.2 µM), linearity (square of coefficient correlation>0.99), precision (intra-&inter-assay imprecision < 10 %), accuracy (intra-&inter-assay inaccuracy < 10 %), sample preparation recovery (recovery ≥ 90 %), stability (instability < 10 %), matrix effect (signal suppression < 55 %), and carryover ( < 0.01 %). Afterward, we applied the validated method to a retrospective cross-sectional study. We aimed to evaluate the utility of serological dimethylarginines as potential cardiovascular biomarkers in the development of RA-associated CVD. Our results revealed that the serological ratio of asymmetric dimethylarginine (ADMA) and symmetric dimethylarginine (SDMA), an indicator of physiological arginine methylation status, was significantly elevated in patients with RA. This finding might provide value in detecting CVD to improve clinical outcomes in RA management.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Quarantine due to the COVID-19 pandemic may have created great psychological stress among vulnerable populations. We aimed to investigate the prevalence of anxiety and explore the association between physical activities (PA) and anxiety risk in people with non-communicable diseases during the period of COVID-19 lockdown. METHODS: We conducted a cross-sectional telephone survey from February 25 to April 20, 2020, the period of COVID-19 lockdown in Shanghai. Up to 8000 patients with type 2 diabetes and/or hypertension were selected using multi-stage cluster random sampling. PA level was measured based on the International Physical Activity Questionnaire using Metabolic Equivalent for Task scores, while symptoms of anxiety were assessed by the 7-item Generalized Anxiety Disorder scale. Multiple logistic regression analyses were performed to evaluate the associations of type and level of PA with the risk of anxiety. RESULTS: Of a total 4877 eligible patients, 2602 (53.4%) reported with anxiety, and 2463 (50.5%), 123 (2.5%) and 16 (0.3%) reported with mild, moderate, and severe anxiety. The prevalence of anxiety was higher in the females, the elders, non-smokers, non-drinkers, and patients with diabetes, and the associations of anxiety with sex, age, smoking, drinking and diagnosis of diabetes were significant. A significant negative association was observed for housework activities (OR 0.53, 95%CI: [0.45, 0.63], p < 0.001) and trip activities (OR 0.55, 95%CI: [0.48, 0.63], p < 0.001) with anxiety, but no significant was found for exercise activities (OR 1.06, 95%CI: [0.94, 1.20], p = 0.321). Compared with patients with a low PA level, those with a moderate (OR 0.53, 95%CI: [0.44, 0.64], p < 0.001) or a high PA level (OR 0.51, 95%CI: [0.43, 0.51], p < 0.001) had a lower prevalence of anxiety. CONCLUSION: This study demonstrates a higher prevalence of anxiety in patients with hypertension, diabetes, or both during the COVID-19 lockdown. The negative associations of housework and trip activities with anxiety highlight the potential benefit of PA among patients with non-communicable diseases.

RESUMO

In the field of nitrogen oxides (NOx) abatement, developing selective catalytic reduction (SCR) catalysts that can operate stably in the practical conditions remains a big challenge because of the complexity and uncertainty of actual flue gas emissions. As water vapor is unavoidable in the actual flue gas, it is indispensable to explore its effect on the performance of SCR catalysts. Many studies have proved that the effects of H2O on de-NOx activity of SCR catalysts were indeed observed during SCR reactions operated under wet conditions. Whether the effect is promotive or inhibitory depends on the reaction conditions, catalyst types and reducing agents used in SCR reaction. This review focuses on the effect of H2O on SCR catalysts and SCR reaction, including promoting effect, inhibiting effect, as well as the effecting mechanism. Besides, various strategies for developing a water-resistant SCR catalyst are also included. We hope that this work can give a more comprehensive insight into the effects of H2O on SCR catalysts and help with the rational design of water-resistant SCR catalysts for further practical application in NOx abatement field.

RESUMO

The dual-chamber photoelectrocatalytic (PEC) system possess advantages in the degradation efficiency and processing cost of organic contaminants. In this study, TiO2 nanotube arrays modified by rGO and g-C3N4 (rGO/g-C3N4/TNAs) photoelectrodes were successfully prepared. The surface micromorphology, chemical structure, crystal structure, and basic element composition of rGO/g-C3N4/TNAs photoelectrodes were studied by SEM, FTIR, XRD, Raman, and XPS. UV-vis absorption, photoluminescence (PL) spectra, and photoelectrochemical (PECH) tests were used to explore the photoelectrochemical characteristics of rGO/g-C3N4/TNAs photoelectrodes. Under simulated sunlight illumination, the dual-chamber PEC system with external bias voltage was used to investigate the degradation of oxytetracycline (OTC) on rGO/g-C3N4/TNAs photoelectrodes. The results showed that rGO and g-C3N4 were successfully loaded on TNAs, and the separation efficiency of electrons and holes at rGO/g-C3N4/TNAs photoelectrodes was improved. The light absorption range of rGO/g-C3N4/TNAs photoelectrodes extends to the visible light region and has better light absorption performance. Compared with the photocatalytic process, when 1.2 V bias voltage was applied, the degradation efficiency of OTC in anode and cathode chambers in PEC were increased by 3.28% and 44.01% within 60 min, respectively. In addition, the anode and cathode chambers have different degradation effects on OTC. Both the external bias voltage and initial pH have significant effects in cathode chamber, but have little effect in photoanode chamber. The fluorescence excitation-emission matrix spectra and liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry showed that there were different intermediates in the degradation process of OTC. This study indicated that for the dual-chamber PEC system, rGO/g-C3N4/TNAs photoelectrodes exhibited excellent photocatalytic performance and have potential application prospects in water environmental remediation.

RESUMO

Rifamycin mycelial dreg (RMD) is a biological waste, and its residual rifamycin (RIF) is potentially harmful to both the environment and human health. In this work, thermally activated persulfate (PDS) oxidative degradation of RIF in RMD was developed for the first time. The effects of reaction temperature, initial PDS concentration, and pH on RIF degradation in RMD were investigated, and the treatment conditions were optimized using response surface methodology (RSM). The results showed that 90 °C, 50 mg/g PDS, and pH = 5.3 were the optimal pretreatment conditions, and 100% degradation efficiency of RIF (734 mg/kg) was achieved. SEM and FTIR analyses confirmed that the RIF was destroyed and decomposed after the oxidation reaction. The possible degradation pathways of RIF in the thermally activated PDS system were discussed through HPLC/MS and ESR analyses. The intermediate product was identified, and the toxicity of the final product was predicted to be low or nontoxic. In this work, a degradation pathway of RMD was proposed by activating persulfate, which facilitates subsequent resource utilization and provides meaningful guidance for the practical treatment of antibiotic mycelium residue (AMR).

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: Hyperhomocysteinemia (HHcy) and hypertension are associated with cardiovascular events. However, effects of Hcy-lowing interventions on cardiovascular outcome were conflicting. Serum folate level was proposed to be a possible determinant of efficacy of extra folate supplementation on cardiovascular outcome. The aims of the present study were to describe representative information on the levels of serum homocysteine and folate in hypertensive patients, and to explore the major determinants of HHcy. METHODS: 11,007 participants with hypertension were analyzed in this cross-sectional study. Blood pressure and serum levels of biochemical indicators were measured. Multivariate logistic regression model was used to assess the associated factors of HHcy. RESULTS: Geometric mean of serum total homocysteine was 14.1 (95% CI: 13.9, 14.4) µmol/L and prevalence of HHcy was 36.1 (95% CI: 34.0, 38.1) % in hypertensive patients. HHcy was strongly associated with factors including male sex, older age, elevated serum creatinine (SCr), lower serum folate and vitamin B12, and uncontrolled blood pressure in hypertensive patients. Elevated SCr attributed to HHcy with the etiologic fraction of 0.29. The change of the odds ratio of HHcy associated with folate was significantly higher in patients with elevated SCr compared with that of patients with normal SCr. CONCLUSION: The results suggested the protection of female sex and higher levels of folate and vitamin B12 from HHcy and attribution of older age and elevated SCr to HHcy. Restoring renal function deserved attention for hypertensive patients to benefit from Hcy-lowing measures.
