RESUMO

BACKGROUND: To find more effective agricultural antibiotics, a class of new 2-aminothiazole derivatives containing the 4-aminoquinazoline moiety were synthesized and evaluated for their antimicrobial properties against phytopathogenic bacteria and fungi of agricultural importance. RESULTS: All the target compounds were fully characterized by 1 H NMR, 13 C NMR, and high-resolution mass spectrometry. The bioassay results showed that compound F29 with a 2-pyridinyl substituent exhibited an outstanding antibacterial effect against Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzicola (Xoc) in vitro, having an half-maximal effective concentration (EC50 ) value as low as 2.0 µg/mL (over 30-fold more effective than the commercialized agrobactericide bismerthiazol, with an EC50 value of 64.3 µg/mL). In addition, compound F8 with a 2-fluorophenyl group demonstrated a good inhibitory activity toward the bacterium Xanthomonas axonopodis pv. citri (Xac), around twofold more active than bismerthiazol in terms of their EC50 values (22.8 versus 71.5 µg/mL). Interestingly, this compound also demonstrated a notable fungicidal effect against Phytophthora parasitica var. nicotianae, with an EC50 value largely comparable with that of the commercialized fungicide carbendazim. Finally, mechanistic studies revealed that compound F29 exerted its antibacterial effects by increasing the permeability of bacterial membranes, reducing the release of extracellular polysaccharides, and triggering morphological changes of bacterial cells. CONCLUSION: Compound F29 has promising potential as a lead compound for developing more efficient bactericides to fight against Xoc. © 2023 Society of Chemical Industry.

RESUMO

Objective: To verify statements about the effect of five evolutive phases and six climatic factors in 《huang di nei jing》 on pregnancy and sterility. Methods: Data of missed abortion from Nanjing Maternity and Child Health Care Hospital between 2006-2020 and Yangzhou Maternity and Child Health Care Hospital between 2012-2020 were collected. According to Chinese sexagenary cycle heavenly stems and earthly branches of each year between 2006-2020 was determined. And then based on the heavenly stems and earthly branches, evolutive phases and six climatic factors of each year were established. After that data of missed abortion in each year was compared. According to relative statements in 《huang di nei jing》 , it was observed whether the number of missed abortion cases in someone year increased significantly. Results: Totally there were 28059 cases of missed abortion from the two hospital were collected between 2006-2020 and 2012-2020 respectively. It was found that in the year of Shaoyang phase fire sitian and Jueyin wind wood in the spring (that is the year of 2010 and 2016) the number of missed abortion cases was higher obviously than the other year. When the year of Taiyang cold water in the spring (that is the year of 2009 and 2015), there was a relatively increased number of missed abortion cases. Conclusions: Five evolutive phases and six climatic factors have impacts on human pregnancy and sterility. It was an adverse condition for human reproduction in the year of Shaoyang phase fire sitian and Jueyin wind wood in the spring as well as Taiyang cold water in the spring. Until to now we can still verify statements about the effect of five evolutive phases and six climatic factors on pregnancy and sterility in 《huang di nei jing》.

RESUMO

Background: A prerequisite to translating intravoxel incoherent motion (IVIM) imaging into meaningful clinical applications is sufficient scan-rescan reproducibility. This study aims to confirm the hypothesis that IVIM data fitting by not using b=0 images will improve the stability of liver IVIM measurement. Methods: Healthy volunteers' liver IVIM images were prospectively acquired using a 1.5-T magnet or a 3.0 T with 16 b-values. Repeatability study subjects were scanned twice during the same session, resulted in 35 paired scans for 35 subjects (11 men, mean age: 41.82 years, range: 32-60 years; 24 women, mean age: 42.67 years, range: 20-71 years). IVIM analysis was performed with full-fitting and segmented-fitting with a threshold b-value of 60 s/mm2, and fitting started from b=0 s/mm2 or from b=2 s/mm2. Reproducibility study subjects were scanned and then rescanned with an interval of 5-18 days, resulted in 20 paired scans for 11 subjects (4 men, mean age: 26.25 years, range: 25-27 years; 7 women, mean age: 25.57 years, range: 24-27 years). IVIM analysis was performed with segmented-fitting with a threshold b-value of 50 s/mm2, and fitting started from b=0 s/mm2 or from b=3 s/mm2. Results: Fitting without b=0 data generally improved the repeatability and reproducibility for both PF and Dslow, and particularly so for PF. For with b=0 data segmented fitting repeatability, PF had within-subject standard deviation of 0.019, bland-Atman 75% agreement limit of -31.52% to 28.35%, and ICC of 0.647, while these values were 0.009, -20.78% to 16.86%, and 0.837 for without b=0 analysis. Though the repeatability and reproducibility for Dfast generally also improved, they remained suboptimal. Measurement stability was better for repeatability than for reproducibility. Conclusions: Scan-rescan repeatability and reproducibility of liver IVIM parameters can be improved by fitting without b=0 data, which is particularly so for PF.

RESUMO

A fluorescent probe for specific biorecognition was prepared by a facile method in which amphiphilic random copolymers were encapsulated with hydrophobic upconversion nanoparticles (UCNPs). This method quickly converted the hydrophobic UCNPs to hydrophilic UNCPs. Moreover, the self-folding ability of the amphiphilic copolymers allowed the formation of molecular imprinting polymers with template-shaped cavities. LiYF4:Yb3+/Tm3+@LiYF4:Yb3+ UCNP with up-conversion emission in the visible light region was prepared; this step was followed by the synthesis of an amphiphilic random copolymer, poly(methacrylate acid-co-octadecene) (poly(MAA-co-OD)). Combining the UCNPs and poly(MAA-co-OD) with the templates afforded a micelle-like structure. After removing the templates, UCNPs encapsulated with the molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP) (UCNPs@MIP) were obtained. The adsorption capacities of UCNPs@MIP bound with albumin and hemoglobin, respectively, were compared. The results showed that albumin was more easily bound to UCNPs@MIP than to hemoglobin because of the effect of protein conformation. The feasibility of using UCNPs@MIP as a fluorescent probe was also studied. The results showed that the fluorescence was quenched when hemoglobin was adsorbed on UCNPs@MIP; however, this was not observed for albumin. This fluorescence quenching is attributed to Förster resonance energy transfer (FRET) and overlap of the absorption spectrum of hemoglobin with the fluorescence spectrum of UCNPs@MIP. To our knowledge, the encapsulation approach for fabricating the UCNPs@MIP nanocomposite, which was further used as a fluorescent probe, might be the first report on specific biorecognition.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVES: This study aims to: (i) evaluate the outcome of patients with Harrington class III lesions who were treated according to Harrington classification; (ii) propose a modified surgical classification for Harrington class III lesions; and (iii) assess the efficiency of the proposed modified classification. METHODS: This study composes two phases. During phase 1 (2006 to 2011), the clinical data of 16 patients with Harrington class III lesions who were treated by intralesional excision followed by reconstruction of antegrade/retrograde Steinmann pins/screws with cemented total hip arthroplasty (Harrington/modified Harrington procedure) were retrospectively reviewed and further analyzed synthetically to design a modified surgical classification system. In phase 2 (2013 to 2019), 62 patients with Harrington class III lesions were classified and surgically treated according to our modified classification. Functional outcome was assessed using the Musculoskeletal Tumor Society (MSTS) 93 scoring system. The outcome of local control was described using 2-year recurrence-free survival (RFS). Owing to the limited sample size, we considered P < 0.1 as significant. RESULTS: In phase 1, the mean surgical time was 273.1 (180 to 390) min and the mean intraoperative hemorrhage was 2425.0 (400.0 to 8000.0) mL, respectively. The mean follow-up time was 18.5 (2 to 54) months. Recurrence was found in 4 patients and the 2-year RFS rate was 62.4% (95% confidence interval [CI] 31.6% to 93.2%). The mean postoperative MSTS93 score was 56.5% (20% to 90%). Based on the periacetabular bone destruction, we categorized the lesions into two subgroups: with the bone destruction distal to or around the inferior border of the sacroiliac joint (IIIa) and the bone destruction extended proximal to inferior border of the sacroiliac joint (IIIb). Six patients with IIIb lesions had significant prolonged surgical time (313.3 vs 249.0 min, P = 0.022), massive intraoperative hemorrhage (3533.3 vs 1760.0 mL, P = 0.093), poor functional outcome (46.7% vs 62.3%, P = 0.093), and unfavorable local control (31.3% vs 80.0%, P = 0.037) compared to the 10 patients with IIIa lesions. We then modified the surgical strategy for two subgroup of class III lesions: Harrington/modified Harrington procedure for IIIa lesions and en bloc resection followed by modular hemipelvic endoprosthesis replacement for IIIb lesions. Using the proposed modified surgical classification, 62 patients in the phase 2 study demonstrated improved surgical time (245.3 min, P = 0.086), intraoperative hemorrhage (1466.0 mL, P = 0.092), postoperative MSTS 93 scores (65.3%, P = 0.067), and 2-year RFS rate (91.3%, P = 0.002) during a mean follow-up time of 19.9 (1 to 60) months compared to those in the phase 1 study. CONCLUSION: The Harrington surgical classification is insufficient for class III lesions. We proposed modification of the classification for Harrington class III lesions by adding two subgroups and corresponding surgical strategies according to the involvement of bone destruction. Our proposed modified classification showed significant improvement in functional outcome and local control, along with acceptable surgical complexity in surgical management for Harrington class III lesions.

RESUMO

Scientific determination of energy and environmental efficiency and productivity is the key foundation of green development policy-making. The hyperbolic distance function (HDF) model can deal with both desirable output and undesirable output asymmetrically, and measure efficiency from the perspective of "increasing production and reducing pollution". In this paper, a nonparametric linear estimation method of an HDF model including uncontrollable index and undesirable output is proposed. Under the framework of global reference, the changes of energy environmental efficiency and productivity and their factorization of 107 resource-based cities in China from 2003 to 2018 are calculated and analyzed. With the classification of resource-based cities by resource dependence (RD) and region, we discuss the feature in green development quality of those cities. The results show that: (1) On the whole, the average annual growth rate of energy and environmental productivity of resource-based cities in China is 2.6%, which is mainly due to technological changes. The backward of relative technological efficiency hinders the further growth of productivity, while the scale diseconomy is the main reason for the backward of relative technological efficiency. (2) For the classification of RD, the energy and environmental efficiency of the high-dependent group are significantly lower than the other two, and the growth of productivity of the medium-dependent group is the highest. (3) In terms of classification by region, the energy and environmental efficiency of the eastern region is the highest, and that of the middle and western regions is not as good as that of the eastern and northeastern regions. The middle region shows the situation of "middle collapse" in both static efficiency and dynamic productivity change, and the main reason for its low productivity growth is the retreat of relatively pure technical efficiency. This conclusion provides practical reference for the classification and implementation of regional energy and environmental policies.

RESUMO

As satellite communications provide ubiquitous coverage, they play a key role in providing Internet connectivity in remote or marginalized areas, so as to enable the vision of a truly global connectivity of the Internet of Things (IoT). However, these areas often lack reliable electricity supply. Thus, this paper proposes a satellite internet access point powered by solar energy, so that a stable Internet connection can be provided. The access point provides Wi-Fi coverage so that sensors, IoT, and devices can connect to the access point using the Wi-Fi, a common wireless technology. Our design took some cost-saving measures to make it affordable and selected the components that require minimal maintenance operations. The satellite access point costs about USD $500, and can provide four days of Internet connectivity without solar energy.

RESUMO

Emerging economies face the challenge of increasing labor costs but also provide an opportunity to promote environmental governance and green development. Based on the perspectives of impetus and capability, the effects of rising labor costs and market environment on green technological innovation are investigated in this study. The empirical studies used the data of high-pollution firms in China from 2009 to 2018. Results demonstrate that rising labor costs deteriorates high-pollution firm performance, while highly competitive industries are affected more than other industries. Meanwhile, the influence of rising labor costs on green technological innovation has a threshold effect which illustrates an "inversely U-shaped" variation trend with the increase of degree of market monopoly. The labor costs will make biggest impact on the green technological innovation in the moderately concentrated market environment. Basing from these results, this study provides the following suggestions for emerging economies' green development: Take rising labor cost as an opportunity to advance technological progress to the green direction, establish a sound market competition environment, and develop green finance to reduce the financing constraints of green technological innovation.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Over the past 20 years, magnetic resonance receiving coil technology has developed rapidly. The traditional, commercial knee joint coil has a fixed mechanical structure. To meet the imaging needs of most patients, it is necessary to ensure that the mechanical geometry of the coil is as large as possible. Therefore, different quality images can be obtained by filling coefficients under loads of knees of different sizes. Lufkin et al. [1] have demonstrated that the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of coil imaging is directly proportional to its filling coefficient, which is S/N≈QL*η. Thus, the pursuit of an optimal coil filling coefficient is an important way to improve the coil imaging quality. OBJECTIVE: This study combines wearable concepts and coil development techniques and applies flexible and elastic materials to coil designs. METHODS: We used an elastic material instead of the traditional fixed mechanical structure to develop a 1.5T 5-channel knee joint receiving coil that can be attached to knee joints of different sizes within a certain range, allowing the coil to achieve a maximum filling coefficient under the loads of knees of different sizes. RESULTS: Compared to commercial 8-channel knee coils, the phantom test and clinical knee joint imaging demonstrated that the SNR of the developed coil increased by four times in the shallow layer and two times in the deep layer, under different load conditions. CONCLUSION: This high SNR performance demonstrates potential for the realization of high resolution and fast imaging sequences in knee imaging.

RESUMO

We have developed an efficient method for direct formation of epoxide groups from carbon(sp2)-carbon(sp3) single bonds of ß-keto esters; the reaction is mediated by the water-soluble hypervalent iodine(V) reagent AIBX (5-trimethylammonio-1,3-dioxo-1,3-dihydro-1λ5-benzo[d][1,2]iodoxol-1-ol anion). On the basis of the results of density functional theory calculations and experimental studies, we propose that the reaction proceeds by a two-stage mechanism involving dehydrogenation of the ß-keto ester substrates and epoxidation of the resulting enone intermediates. The rate-limiting step is abstraction of the ß'-C-H (calculated free energy of activation, 24.5 kcal/mol).

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To introduce a new classification of Enneking type IV pelvic tumors involving the sacrum and a corresponding system of standardized surgical approaches and procedures for resection of such tumors, and to investigate the feasibility and therapeutic effect of the new system. METHODS: Data on 59 patients treated between February 2003 and February 2013 by standardized surgical approaches and procedures were retrospectively reviewed. The study subjects comprised 28 male and 31 female patients with a mean age at diagnosis of 36 years (range, 2-72 years). There are four subtypes in the new classification: (i) subtype IVa, neoplasms invading the ipsilateral sacral wing; (ii) subtype IVb, neoplasms invading the ipsilateral sacral foramina; (iii) subtype IVc, neoplasms invading the contralateral sacral foramina; and (iv) subtype IVd, neoplasms invading the whole of the sacrum. Standardized surgical approaches and procedures were devised for en-bloc resection for each subtype with adequate margins. RESULTS: Adequate margins were achieved in 43/59 patients (72.9%). The mean operation time was 5.0 h and the mean intraoperative blood loss 2157 mL. At the final follow-up, 27/53 patients (50.9%) who had been followed up were alive and in complete remission. The mean Musculoskeletal Tumor Society 93 score was 17.4 (58%) of a possible 30 points. The mean functional score for patients who had undergone a pelvic zone II resection was 15.2, compared with 19.0 for those with an intact pelvic zone II. CONCLUSIONS: The proposed standardized protocols should help orthopaedic surgeons to achieve adequate margins, manage risk, achieve better oncologic and functional outcomes, and minimize perioperative complications when treating massive pelvic tumors involving the sacrum.

RESUMO

In order to predict effects of climate changing on growth, quality and grain yields of spring wheat, a field experiment was conducted to investigate the effects of air temperature increases (0 °C, 1.0 °C, 2.0° C and 3.0°) and precipitation variations (decrease 20%, unchanging and increase 20%) on grain yields, quality, diseases and insect pests of spring wheat at the Dingxi Arid Meteorology and Ecological Environment Experimental Station of the Institute of Arid Meteorology of China Meteorological Administration (35°35' N ,104°37' E). The results showed that effects of precipitation variations on kernel numbers of spring wheat were not significant when temperature increased by less than 2.0° C , but was significant when temperature increased by 3.0° C. Temperature increase enhanced kernel numbers, while temperature decrease reduced kernel numbers. The negative effect of temperature on thousand-kernel mass of spring wheat increased with increasing air temperature. The sterile spikelet of spring wheat response to air temperature was quadratic under all precipitation regimes. Compared with control ( no temperature increase), the decreases of grain yield of spring wheat when air temperature increased by 1.0°C, 2.0°C and 3.0°C under each of the three precipitation conditions (decrease 20%, no changing and increase 20%) were 12.1%, 24.7% and 42.7%, 8.4%, 15.1% and 21.8%, and 9.0%, 15.5% and 22.2%, respectively. The starch content of spring wheat decreased and the protein content increased with increasing air temperature. The number of aphids increased when air temperature increased by 2.0°C , but decreased when air temperature increased by 3.0°CT. The infection rates of rust disease increased with increasing air temperature.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the semen quality and its influencing factors in preconception males in Nanjing area so as to provide some evidence for working out effective intervention measures. METHODS: Totally 687 men receiving preconceptional physical examination were enrolled in this study. A questionnaire survey was conducted among the subjects along with an analysis of their semen quality. RESULTS: The median of sperm concentration was 63.3 x 10(6)/ml (95% CI [19.88-119] x 10(6)/ml). The median of grade a sperm was 33.03% (95% CI [19.38-55.05]%), that of grade a + b sperm was 52.08% (95% CI [39.53-69.37]%), and that of teratosperm was 91.75% (95% CI [69-100]%). The median concentration of seminal plasma PMN-elastase was 195.55 ng/ml (95% CI [76.16-3330.38] ng/ml) and that of seminal plasma zinc was 7.62 µmol/L (95% CI [1.5-23, 45] µmol/L). The positive rates of Ureaplasma urealyticum (UU), Chlamydia trachomatis (CT), and Gardnerella vaginalis (GV) were 42.4%, 0.3%, and 2.4%, respectively. The median of sperm DNA fragmentation index (DFI) of those whose wives had a history of adverse pregnancy was 20.25% (95% CI [2.15-68.25]%). Multivariate logistic regression analysis suggested that mental stress (OR 1.567, 95% CI [1.081-2.27]) and sedentariness (OR 1.772, 95% CI [1.211-2.592]) were independent risk factors for asthenospermia. CONCLUSION: The sperm quality of preconception males in Nanjing area is not encouraging, and it can be improved by changing undesirable lifestyle and reducing mental stress.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Large extracompartmental limb soft-tissue sarcoma with juxta-articular bone involvement poses major challenges in disease management. Radical resection of sarcoma frequently requires concomitant bone resection and reconstruction. We describe the clinical outcomes of endoprosthetic reconstruction and the complications associated with this procedure. METHODS: Thirty patients with soft-tissue sarcomas with local juxta-articular bone involvement in an extremity underwent surgery at our center between May 2004 and October 2011, 20 for primary sarcomas and 10 for local recurrences. Clinical data from those patients were analyzed retrospectively. The bone affected included the proximal femur (10 cases), the distal femur (nine cases), the proximal humerus (eight cases), the proximal tibia (two cases), or the total femur (one case). Wide excision of the tumor and the bone tissue involved was performed on every patient, followed by reconstruction of the subsequent defect using tumor endoprosthesis. All patients underwent regular follow-up for an average of 25 (range, 3-84) mo. RESULTS: Three patients had poor wound healing. Implant fractures leading to additional revisions occurred in two cases. Local tumor recurrence developed in four patients. There were 15 patients with lung metastases, and 11 patients died of disseminated metastases. In the latest follow-up, 14 patients survived free of disease and five were alive with tumors. The mean Musculoskeletal Tumor Society functional analysis for proximal femur, distal femur, proximal tibia, proximal humerus, and total femur were 90%, 82%, 73%, 71%, and 60%, respectively. The 2- and 5- y survival rates were 61.6% and 30.0%, respectively. CONCLUSIONS: Endoprosthetic reconstruction could yield satisfactory results as a wide excision and limb salvage therapeutic strategy for patients with large extracompartmental soft-tissue sarcomas with juxta-articular bone involvement. Acceptable complications occurred in the present report.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the different surgical options for tibia metastatic disease and to evaluate the survival prognostic factors, postoperation function and complications. METHODS: A retrospective evaluation of 16 patients treated for tibia metastatic disease between Jan. 2000 and Feb. 2013 was conducted at our center. The underlying histology of the lesions showed metastatic lung carcinoma (five),breast carcinoma (three), bladder carcinoma (two), unknown (two), renal cell carcinoma, colon carcinoma, hepatic cellular cancer and lymphoma (one each). The locations of these lesions were proximal in 11 patients (with one patient having two synchronous lesions in the proximal metaphysis on both sides), diaphyseal in 4 patients, and distal metaphyseal in two patients. One patient presented with a pathologic fracture, and the risk of impending pathologic fracture of the remainders was evaluated by Mirels scoring system. Of all the 16 patients, 15 were treated surgically (with 16 operations performed). Six of them were reconstructed with proximal tibial replacement, 9 underwent curettage and cementation (with or without inner-fixations), and 1 patient had lower third calf amputation. We employed VAS scoring system to evaluate the pain intensity of the lesions before and after operation. The post-operation function was assessed by MSTS scoring system. The survival rate was described by Kaplan-Meier survival curve. RESULTS: Fourteen of all the patients were followed-up and enrolled in the research. The median postoperative survival was 7 months (1-72 months). The mean half year survival rate and 2-year survival rate were 57.14% and 8.9% respectively. The mean Mirels score was 9.8 ± 1.0. The mean VAS score before the operation was 7.62 ± 1.03, which turned out to be 1.36 ± 0.86 after the operation. The mean MSTS score for the endoprosthesis and curettage was 21.0 ± 0.63 and 23.1 ± 1.25 respectively. CONCLUSION: The mobidity of tibia metastatic diseases is very low.Surgical intervention, combined with the application of bisphosphonate and postoperative radiotherapy, is absolutely necessary for the treatment of tibial metastatic disease, contributing to an improved quality of life and limb function.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To establish a surgical classification system for metastases of proximal femur and discuss the therapeutic strategy with retrospective analysis and literature review. METHODS: The data of 99 patients who underwent a total of 102 operations for femoral metastatic lesions from January 2003 to December 2011 was analyzed. There were 50 males and 49 females, and the median age was 56 years (range 15-87 years). The most common diagnosis was lung cancer (30 cases), followed by breast cancer (17 cases). All femoral lesions were divided into 4 types (I-IV) with different anatomic site and biomechanic characteristic. The patients with various surgical reconstruction mode and postoperative follow-up data were recorded. RESULT: There were 65 side who received widely or marginal resection and 37 side who received intralesional resection. The patients were operated with bipolar hip prosthesis (n = 3), ordinary total hip replacement (THR) (n = 10), bipolar tumor prosthesis (n = 48), THR with tumor prosthesis (n = 8), intramedullary nailing (n = 21), and plate/screw (n = 12). The estimated survival for the 99 patients was 10.3 months. Type I, II, III and IV patients with postoperative American Society of bone and soft tissue tumors-93 rating were 86.5%, 77.3%, 81.3% and 69.1%. Patients with type IV were worse compared with the other 3 groups (t = 4.763, P = 0.031). The 10 operations were followed by complications of any kind. Complication rate of patients with type IV were 3/12, and it was significantly higher than the other 3 groups of patients (χ(2) = 4.018, P = 0.045). CONCLUSIONS: The classifications and corresponsive surgical methods for upper femur metastases had some superiority in hinting prognosis and guiding treatment.

RESUMO

Tobacco mosaic virus (TMV) causes significant losses in many economically important crops. Contaminated soils may play roles as reservoirs and sources of transmission for TMV. In this study we report the development of an immunocapture real-time RT-PCR (IC-real-time RT-PCR) assay for direct detection of TMV in soils without RNA isolation. A series of TMV infected leaf sap dilutions of 1:101, 1:102, 1:103, 1:104, 1:105 and 1:106 (w/v, g/mL) were added to one gram of soil. The reactivity of DAS-ELISA and conventional RT-PCR was in the range of 1:102 and 1:103 dilution in TMV-infested soils, respectively. Meanwhile, the detection limit of IC-real-time RT-PCR sensitivity was up to 1:106 dilution. However, in plant sap infected by TMV, both IC-real-time RT-PCR and real-time RT-PCR were up to 1:106 dilution, DAS-ELISA could detect at least 1:103 dilution. IC-real-time RT-PCR method can use either plant sample extracts or cultivated soils, and show higher sensitivity than RT-PCR and DAS-ELISA for detection of TMV in soils. Therefore, the proposed IC-real-time RT-PCR assay provides an alternative for quick and very sensitive detection of TMV in soils, with the advantage of not requiring a concentration or RNA purification steps while still allowing detection of TMV for disease control.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To establish a rabbit model of abdominal compartment syndrome (ACS) induced by prolonged intra-abdominal hypertension (IAH) and evaluate the therapeutic effect of somatostatin on ACS. METHODS: Twelve New Zealand rabbits were randomized equally into normal saline (NS) group and somatostatin group. ACS model was established by intra-abdominal bleeding (IAB) and intra-abdominal infusion with nitrogen gas to achieve an intra-abdominal pressure of 15 mmHg. The hemodynamics (SP, HR, CVP), hepatic function (ALT), renal function (BUN), antioxidation level (SOD, MDA) and blood electrolyte level (pH, [Na(+)], [Cl(-)], [CaNa(2+)], [KNa(+)]) of the rabbits were recorded 1-6 h after establishment of IAH. RESULTS: Prolonged IAH caused decreased hemodynamic functions and antioxidation level as well as hyperkalemia and hypocalcemia (P<0.05), but these changes showed no significant differences between NS group and somatostatin group. CONCLUSION: Prolonged IAH causes cardiovascular function damages in rabbits possibly related to acidosis, electrolyte disturbances, and oxidative damage due to tissue ischemia and hypoxia. Somatostatin produces no obvious protective effects against the occurrence and progression of ACS.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To explore the incidence of postoperative venous thromboembolism (VTE) in adult patients with primary bone tumor undergoing knee operation and evaluate its efficacy and safety in the prevention of VTE. METHODS: For this prospective, randomized and negative-control single-center trial, a total of 100 eligible patients were selected and randomly divided into observation and control groups. Observation group (rivaroxaban): the first rivaroxaban tablet was taken in the first 24 hours after operation. Rivaroxaban was administered daily every 24 hours up to Day 14. CONTROL GROUP: no anticoagulant was taken postoperatively. RESULTS: Efficacy indictors: 6 cases of DVT (an incidence of 12%) occurred in the observation group versus 15 (30%) in the control group. Significant statistical difference existed between two groups (P < 0.05). Furthermore, neither pulmonary embolism nor death was found in either group. Safety indicators:a total of 3 bleeding (1 major and 2 non-major) cases occurred in observation group versus a total of 2 bleeding (no major and 2 non-major) cases in control group. No significant statistical difference existed in bleeding events (P > 0.05). The total incidence of adverse effect was 6% (3/50) in the observation group. The drainage volume of the observation group was a little more than that of the control group. But no significant statistical difference existed in drainage duration (P > 0.05). And there was almost no change in the coagulation system by laboratory examination after oral administration. CONCLUSION: With an excellent safety profile and a low incidence of adverse effects, Rivaroxaban is effective and safe in the prevention of VTE in adult patients with primary bone tumor undergoing knee operation.
