RESUMO

Exploring the spatial distribution characteristics of tourist attractions and the influencing factors is of significant importance for destination development, yet little relevant research has been conducted. This study explores the spatial patterns and determinants of tourist attractions using Hubei Province of China as a case based on the POI (Points of Interest) data, combined with standard deviation ellipse, GeoDetector method and so on. The results show that: (1) The distribution of tourist attractions in Hubei Province is concentrated in Wuhan and Huanggang. (2) The overall spatial patterns of tourist attractions in Hubei Province show a trend of "overall dispersion, partial concentration", with the direction of northwest-southeast. (3) The permanent population, passenger traffic volume, per capita GDP, and the added value of the tertiary industry are the primary factors influencing the spatial distribution of tourist attractions in Hubei Province. Additionally, topography and river systems factors also impact their distribution. This study provides critical information for theory and practice in terms of tourism resources optimization.

RESUMO

Core-shell structures exhibit a number of distinct absorptive properties that make them attractive tools for use in a range of industrial contexts including pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, cosmetics, and food/agriculture. Several recent studies have focused on the development and fabrication of zein-based core-shell structures for a range of functional material deliveries. However, no recent review article has evaluated the fabrication of such core-shell structures for food-based applications. In this paper, we therefore survey current approaches to fabricating different zein-based platforms including particles, fibers, films, and hydrogels that have appeared in a variety of functionally relevant applications. In addition, we highlight certain challenges and future research directions in this field, thereby providing a novel perspective on zein-based core-shell structures.

Recently, phosphorylation has been applied to peptides to enhance their physiological activity, taking advantage of its modification benefits and the extensive study of functional peptides. In this study, water-soluble peptides (WSPs) of sea cucumber ovum were phosphorylated in order to improve the latter's calcium binding capacity and calcium absorption. Enzymatic hydrolysis methods were screened via ultraviolet-visible absorption spectroscopy (UV-Vis), the fluorescence spectrum, and calcium chelating ability. Phosphorylated water-soluble peptides (P-WSPs) were characterized via high-performance liquid chromatography, the circular dichroism spectrum, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), UV-Vis spectroscopy, surface hydrophobicity, and fluorescence spectroscopy. The phosphorus content, calcium chelation rate and absorption rate were investigated. The results demonstrated that phosphorylation enhanced the calcium chelating capacity of WSPs, with the highest capacity reaching 0.96 mmol/L. Phosphate ions caused esterification events, and the carboxyl, amino, and phosphate groups of WSPs and P-WSPs interacted with calcium ions to form these bonds. Calcium-chelated phosphorylated water-soluble peptides (P-WSPs-Ca) demonstrated outstanding stability (calcium retention rates > 80%) in gastrointestinal processes. Our study indicates that these chelates have significant potential to develop into calcium supplements with superior efficacy, bioactivity, and stability.

Full waveform inversion (FWI) is recognized as a leading data-fitting methodology, leveraging the detailed information contained in physical waveform data to construct accurate, high-resolution velocity models essential for crosshole surveys. Despite its effectiveness, FWI is often challenged by its sensitivity to data quality and inherent nonlinearity, which can lead to instability and the inadvertent incorporation of noise and extraneous data into inversion models. To address these challenges, we introduce the scale-aware edge-preserving FWI (SAEP-FWI) technique, which integrates a cutting-edge nonlinear anisotropic hybrid diffusion (NAHD) filter within the gradient computation process. This innovative filter effectively reduces noise while simultaneously enhancing critical small-scale structures and edges, significantly improving the fidelity and convergence of the FWI inversion results. The application of SAEP-FWI across a variety of experimental and authentic crosshole datasets clearly demonstrates its effectiveness in suppressing noise and preserving key scale-aware and edge-delineating features, ultimately leading to clear inversion outcomes. Comparative analyses with other FWI methods highlight the performance of our technique, showcasing its ability to produce images of notably higher quality. This improvement offers a robust solution that enhances the accuracy of subsurface imaging.

During enteric nervous system (ENS) development, pioneering wavefront enteric neural crest cells (ENCCs) initiate gut colonization. However, the molecular mechanisms guiding their specification and niche interaction are not fully understood. We used single-cell RNA sequencing and spatial transcriptomics to map the spatiotemporal dynamics and molecular landscape of wavefront ENCCs in mouse embryos. Our analysis shows a progressive decline in wavefront ENCC potency during migration and identifies transcription factors governing their specification and differentiation. We further delineate key signaling pathways (ephrin-Eph, Wnt-Frizzled, and Sema3a-Nrp1) utilized by wavefront ENCCs to interact with their surrounding cells. Disruptions in these pathways are observed in human Hirschsprung's disease gut tissue, linking them to ENS malformations. Additionally, we observed region-specific and cell-type-specific transcriptional changes in surrounding gut tissues upon wavefront ENCC arrival, suggesting their role in shaping the gut microenvironment. This work offers a roadmap of ENS development, with implications for understanding ENS disorders.

As a result of the spontaneous movement of molecules, liquid-liquid biopolymer segregative phase separation takes place in an aqueous solution. The efficacy of this type of separation can be optimized under conditions where variables such as pH, temperature, and molecular concentrations have minimal impact on its dynamics. Recently, interest in the applications of biopolymers and their segregative phase separation-associated molecular stratification has increased, particularly in the food industry, where these methods permit the purification of specific particles and the embedding of microcapsules. The present review offers a comprehensive examination of the theoretical mechanisms that regulate the liquid-liquid biopolymers aqueous solution segregative phase separation, the factors that may exert an impact on this procedure, and the importance of this particular separation method in the context of food science. These discussion points also address existing difficulties and future possibilities related to the use of segregative phase separation in food applications. This highlights the potential for the design of novel functional foods and the enhancement of food properties.

Objective: To review postoperative necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC) in patients with jejunoileal atresia (JIA) and to explore the potential risk factors related to the concurrence of NEC. Methods: Patients diagnosed with JIA who received surgical treatment from January 2016 to June 2021 were enrolled. Demographics, viral infection of the fetus, transfusion within 48 hours before NEC, sepsis before JIA repair, pathological and anatomical classification of JIA, combined malformation, occurrence time of NEC after the operation, treatment, and prognosis of patients were analyzed. Patients were divided into NEC group and non-NEC group, and all patients were followed up for 3-6 months to observe for complications. Results: A total of 180 patients with JIA were included, of whom 12 were diagnosed with NEC after surgery and 1 patient with NEC died during follow-up. The average age, birth weight, gestational age, proportion of premature infants, proportion of preoperative infections, and pathological classification of JIA did not significantly differ between the two groups. The probability of patients with proximal jejunal atresia (PJA) in the NEC group (58.3%) was higher than that in the non-NEC group (22.6%) (p=0.011), and patients with PJA had longer parenteral nutrition time than patients without PJA (26.64±9.21 days vs 15.11±6.58 days, p<0.001). Conclusion: PJA was more likely to be associated with concurrent NEC after surgery, which is a highly NEC-related risk factor inherent in JIA.

OBJECTIVE AND DESIGN: Hirschsprung disease-associated enterocolitis (HAEC) is a common life-threatening complication of Hirschsprung disease (HSCR). We aimed to investigate the effectiveness, long-term safety and the underlying mechanisms of Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) based therapy for HAEC. MATERIAL OR SUBJECTS: Specimens from HSCR and HAEC patients were used to assess the inflammatory condition. Ednrb knock-out mice was used as HAEC model. MSCs was intraperitoneally transplanted into HAEC mice. The therapy effects, long-term outcome, safety and toxicity and the mechanism of MSCs on the treatment of HAEC were explored in vivo and in vitro. RESULTS: Intestinal M1 macrophages infiltration and severe inflammation condition were observed in HAEC. After the injection of MSCs, HAEC mice showed significant amelioration of the inflammatory injury and inhibition of M1 macrophages infiltration. The expression levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines (TNF-α and IFN-γ) were decreased and anti-inflammatory cytokines (IL-10 and TGF-ß) were increased. In addition, we found that effective MSCs homing to the inflamed colon tissue occurred without long-term toxicity response. However, COX-2 inhibitor could diminish the therapeutic effects of MSCs. Using MSCs and macrophages co-culture system, we identified that MSCs could alleviate HAEC by inhibiting M1 macrophages activation through COX-2-dependent MAPK/ERK signaling pathway. CONCLUSIONS: MSCs ameliorate HAEC by reducing M1 macrophages polarization via COX-2 mediated MAPK/ERK signaling pathway, thus providing novel insights and potentially promising strategy for the treatment or prevention of HAEC.

Background: HER2-positive molecular breast cancer subtypes are characterized by high aggressiveness and malignancy, and their metastasis and mortality rates are among the highest of all types of breast cancer. The use of anti-HER2-targeted agents in neoadjuvant therapy has significantly improved the prognosis of patients with HER2-positive breast cancer. In this study, we investigated the efficacy and safety of a neoadjuvant Chinese THP regimen (docetaxel, trastuzumab biosimilar TQB211 plus the pertuzumab biosimilar TQB2440 or pertuzumab) for ER/PR-negative and HER2-positive breast cancer in China. Method: All enrolled patients received the THP regimen (T: docetaxel 75 mg/m2 per cycle; H: trastuzumab biosimilar TQB211 8 mg/kg in the first cycle and 6 mg/kg maintenance dose in cycles 2 to 4; P: pertuzumab biosimilar TQB2440 or pertuzumab 840 mg in the first cycle, maintenance dose 420 mg in cycles 2 to 4) every 3 weeks for 4 cycles. The biosimilar TQB2440 pertuzumab and pertuzumab were randomly assigned to patients. Docetaxel, TQB211, and TQB2440 were all developed by Chiatai Tianqing. The primary endpoint was the complete pathological response (pCR) in the breast, and the secondary endpoint was cardiac safety. Results: Of the 28 eligible patients, 19 (67.9%) achieved tpCR. The tpCR rate was higher than in the NeoSphere trial (pCR63.2%) and the PEONY study (tpCR52.5%). The adverse events that occurred most frequently were leukopenia and neutropenia, with incidence rates of 82.1% and 75.0%, respectively. Of these, grade 3 leukopenia and neutropenia occupied 46.4% and 35.7%. Other grade 3 or higher adverse events were bone marrow suppression (7.1%), lymphopenia (3.6%), and anemia (3.6%). There were no events of heart failure in patients and no patient died during the neoadjuvant phase. Conclusion: Domestic dual-target HP has a more satisfactory efficacy and safety in the neoadjuvant phase of treatment. Starch, a natural polymer, has a complex internal structure. Some starches, such as corn and wheat starches, have well-developed surface pores and internal channels. These channel structures are considered crucial in connecting surface stomata and internal cavities and have adequate space for loading guest molecules. After processing or modification, the starch-containing channel structures can be used for food and drug encapsulation and delivery. This article reviews the formation and determination of starch internal channels, and the influence of different factors (such as starch species and processing conditions) on the channel structure. It also discusses relevant starch preparation methods (physical, chemical, enzymatic, and synergistic), and the encapsulation effect of starch containing internal channels on different substances. In addition, the role of internal channels in regulating the starch digestion rate and other aspects is also discussed here. This review highlights the significant multifunctional applications of starch with a channel structure.

In the field of CO2 capture utilization and storage (CCUS), recent advancements in active-source monitoring have significantly enhanced the capabilities of time-lapse acoustical imaging, facilitating continuous capture of detailed physical parameter images from acoustic signals. Central to these advancements is time-lapse full waveform inversion (TLFWI), which is increasingly recognized for its ability to extract high-resolution images from active-source datasets. However, conventional TLFWI methodologies, which are reliant on gradient optimization, face a significant challenge due to the need for complex, explicit formulation of the physical model gradient relative to the misfit function between observed and predicted data over time. Addressing this limitation, our study introduces automatic differentiation (AD) into the TLFWI process, utilizing deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch to automate gradient calculation using the chain rule. This novel approach, AD-TLFWI, not only streamlines the inversion of time-lapse images for CO2 monitoring but also tackles the issue of local minima commonly encountered in deep learning optimizers. The effectiveness of AD-TLFWI was validated using a realistic model from the Frio-II CO2 injection site, where it successfully produced high-resolution images that demonstrate significant changes in velocity due to CO2 injection. This advancement in TLFWI methodology, underpinned by the integration of AD, represents a pivotal development in active-source monitoring systems, enhancing information extraction capabilities and providing potential solutions to complex multiphysics monitoring challenges.

This research aimed to construct an emulsifier by the Maillard reaction at various times using cod fish skin collagen peptide (CSCP) and ι-carrageenan (ι-car) to stabilize an Antarctic krill oil (AKO) emulsion. This emulsion was then investigated for physicochemical stability, oxidative stability, and gastrointestinal digestibility. The emulsion stability index and emulsifying activity index of Maillard reaction products (MRPs) were increased by 36.32 % and 66.30 %, respectively, at the appropriate graft degree (25.58 %) compared with the mixture of ι-car and CSCP. In vitro digestibility suggested the higher release of free fatty acids (FFAs) of 10d-MRPs-AKO-emulsion, and the highest bioavailability of AST in 10d-MRPs-AKO was found to be 28.48 %. The findings of this study showed the potential of MRPs to improve peptide function, serve as delivery vehicles for bioactive chemicals, and possibly serve as a valuable emulsifier to be used in the food industry.

In recent years, the global prevalence of childhood overweight and obesity has surged. Bisphenol A (BPA), prevalent in the manufacture of polycarbonate plastics and epoxy resins, is associated with this escalating obesity pattern. Both early life stages and pregnancy emerge as pivotal windows of vulnerability. This review systematically evaluates human studies to clarify the nexus between prenatal BPA exposure and offspring obesity. Our extensive literature search covered databases like PubMed, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, Embase, and Scopus, encompassing articles from their inception until July 2023. We utilized the Newcastle-Ottawa Scale (NOS) to evaluate the methodological rigor of the included studies, the Oxford Center for Evidence-Based Medicine Levels of Evidence Working Group (OCEBM) table to determine the level of the evidence, and the Grades of Recommendation, Assessment, Development, and Evaluation (GRADE) guidelines to evaluate the certainty of the evidence with statistical significance. We centered on primary studies investigating the link between urinary BPA levels during pregnancy and offspring obesity. Our analysis included thirteen studies, with participant counts ranging from 173 to 1124 mother-child dyads. Among them, eight studies conclusively linked prenatal BPA exposure to increased obesity in offspring. Evaluation metrics for the effect of prenatal BPA on offspring obesity comprised BMI z-score, waist circumference, overweight/obesity classification, aggregate skinfold thickness, body fat percentage, and more. Present findings indicate that prenatal BPA exposure amplifies offspring obesity risk, with potential effect variations by age and gender. Therefore, further research is needed to explore the causal link between prenatal BPA exposure and obesity at different developmental stages and genders, and to elucidate the underlying mechanisms.

BACKGROUND: Neoadjuvant trastuzumab/pertuzumab (HP) plus chemotherapy for HER2-positive breast cancer (BC) achieved promising efficacy. The additional cardiotoxicity still existed. Brecan study evaluated the efficacy and safety of neoadjuvant pegylated liposomal doxorubicin (PLD)/cyclophosphamide and sequential nab-paclitaxel based on HP (PLD/C/HP-nabP/HP). PATIENTS AND METHODS: Brecan was a single-arm phase II study. Eligible patients with stages IIA-IIIC HER2-positive BC received 4 cycles of PLD, cyclophosphamide, and HP, followed by 4 cycles of nab-paclitaxel and HP. Definitive surgery was scheduled after 21 days for patients completing treatment or experiencing intolerable toxicity. The primary endpoint was the pathological complete response (pCR). RESULTS: Between January 2020 and December 2021, 96 patients were enrolled. Ninety-five (99.0%) patients received 8 cycles of neoadjuvant therapy and all underwent surgery with 45 (46.9%) breast-conserving surgery and 51 (53.1%) mastectomy. The pCR was 80.2% (95%CI, 71.2%-87.0%). Four (4.2%) experienced left ventricular insufficiency with an absolute decline in LVEF (43%-49%). No congestive heart failure and ≥grade 3 cardiac toxicity occurred. The objective response rate was 85.4% (95%CI, 77.0%-91.1%), including 57 (59.4%) complete responses and 25 (26.0%) partial responses. The disease control rate was 99.0% (95%CI, 94.3%-99.8%). For overall safety, ≥grade 3 AEs occurred in 30 (31.3%) and mainly included neutropenia (30.2%) and asthenia (8.3%). No treatment-related deaths occurred. Notably, age of >30 (P = .01; OR = 5.086; 95%CI, 1.44-17.965) and HER2 IHC 3+ (P = .02; OR = 4.398; 95%CI, 1.286-15.002) were independent predictors for superior pCR (ClinicalTrials.gov Identifier NCT05346107). CONCLUSION: Brecan study demonstrated the encouraging safety and efficacy of neoadjuvant PLD/C/HP-nabP/HP, suggesting a potential therapeutic option in HER2-positive BC.

BACKGROUND: Cholangitis is common in patients with biliary atresia following Kasai portoenterostomy (KPE). The prompt use of empiric antibiotics is essential due to the lack of identified microorganisms. The authors aimed to validate a severity grading system to guide empiric antibiotic therapy in the management of post-KPE cholangitis. MATERIALS AND METHODS: This multicenter, prospective, randomized, open-label study recruited patients with post-KPE cholangitis and was conducted from January 2018 to December 2019. On admission, patients were categorized into mild, moderate, and severe cholangitis according to the severity grading system. Patients in the mild cholangitis group were randomized to receive cefoperazone sodium tazobactam sodium (CSTS) or meropenem (MEPM). Patients with severe cholangitis were randomized to treatment with MEPM or a combination of MEPM plus immunoglobulin (MEPM+IVIG). Patients with moderate cholangitis received MEPM. RESULTS: The primary endpoint was duration of fever (DOF). Secondary outcomes included blood culture, length of hospital stay, incidence of recurrent cholangitis, jaundice clearance rate, and native liver survival (NLS). For mild cholangitis, DOF, and length of hospital stay were similar between those treated with CSTS or MEPM (all P >0.05). In addition, no significant difference in recurrence rate, jaundice clearance rate, and NLS was observed between patients treated with CSTS and MEPM at 1-month, 3-month, and 6-month follow-up. In patients with moderate cholangitis, the DOF was 36.00 (interquartile range: 24.00-48.00) h. In severe cholangitis, compared with MEPM, MEPM+IVIG decreased DOF and improved liver function by reducing alanine aminotransferase, aspartate aminotransferase, gamma-glutamyl transferase, and direct bilirubin at 1-month follow-up. However, recurrence rate, jaundice clearance rate, and NLS did not differ significantly between MEPM+IVIG and MEPM at 1-month, 3-month, and 6-month follow-up. CONCLUSIONS: In patients with post-KPE cholangitis, MEPM is not superior to CSTS for the treatment of mild cholangitis. However, MEPM+IVIG treatment was associated with better short-term clinical outcomes in patients with severe cholangitis.

Human milk (HM) has been associated with a lower risk of necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC). However, the association of precise HM proportion with the outcome of NEC remains unclear. A total of 77 cases and 154 matched controls were included in this study. The samples were divided into three groups based on the HM proportion of the total enteral intake before NEC onset: ≥70% (HHM), <70% (LHM), and 0% (NHM). The study cohort did not show a significant association between different HM proportions and NEC risk. The adjusted odds ratio (OR) for the highest versus the lowest intake was 0.599. In the prognosis of NEC, different HM proportions significantly affected weight gain, the timing of NEC onset, diagnosis time, hospitalization cost, and the severity of NEC (p < 0.05). Our findings support the beneficial effects of HM on reducing NEC in preterm infants, particularly when a greater proportion of HM of the total enteral intake is included in their feeding. Additionally, the study indicates that preterm infants fed with lower proportions of HM of the total enteral feeding are more prone to experiencing severe cases of NEC.

Background: Human milk (HM) is a proven optimal food for preterm infants. Methods: We conducted a literature search in the Web of Science, PubMed, and Scopus databases. The methodological quality of the included articles and the certainty of evidence were assessed according to the Newcastle-Ottawa Scale and the Grading of Recommendations, Assessment, Development, and Evaluation (GRADE) tool, respectively. Results: Twelve studies were included in the review. Among the clinical findings, the effect of different proportions of HM of the total enteral feeding on health outcomes in preterm infants was divided into six primary outcomes: physical growth, length of stay, morbidity of any disease, all-cause mortality, feeding-related outcomes, and other health outcomes. The studies presented a high risk of bias for most of the domains. The certainty of the evidence was considered low or very low. Conclusions: The findings reiterated that greater proportions of HM positively affect the health outcomes of preterm infants. Overall, when the HM accounts for at least 20% of the total enteral intake, it has an effect on health outcomes in preterm infants. If the proportion of HM reaches 50%, the incidence and severity of necrotizing enterocolitis, as well as the time to reach enteral feeds, will be reduced. Increasing the proportion of HM in enteral feeding should be considered a priority in the feeding strategy for preterm infants in clinical practice.

Bisphenol A (BPA) is an endocrine-disrupting chemical substance responsible for the composition of polycarbonate plastics and epoxy resins. Early life and pregnancy are important windows of susceptibility. This review aimed to conduct a systematic assessment of human studies to comprehensively describe the association between prenatal BPA exposure and neonatal health outcomes. Literature was searched in Cochrane Library, Embase, PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science published before November 2022, and were selected according to clear inclusion and exclusion criteria. The Newcastle-Ottawa scale (NOS) and Grades of Recommendation, Assessment, Development, and Evaluation guidelines (GRADE) were followed to grade the methodological quality of studies and the certainty of the evidence respectively. As a result, a total of 22259 participants from 45 trials were included. And the potential associations of prenatal exposure to BPA and neonatal health outcomes were mainly shown in four aspects: gestational age/preterm birth, physical health at birth, the incidence of systemic abnormalities or diseases, and other health outcomes. Although the certainty of the evidence was low to very low, the methodological quality of the included studies was high. Prenatal BPA exposure tended to have negative effects on most of the health outcomes in neonates but showed inconsistent results on physical health at birth. This systematic review is the first to comprehensively synthesize the existing evidence on the association between prenatal BPA exposure and neonatal health outcomes. In the future, further studies are still needed to verify these effects and elucidate the underlying mechanisms.

The synthesis of octenyl-succinylated chitosan with different degrees of substitution resulting from chemical modification of chitosan and controlled addition of octenyl succinic acid was investigated. The modified products were characterized using 1H NMR, FTIR, and XRD, and the degree of substitution was also determined. The properties of the modified chitosan oligosaccharide in solution were evaluated by surface tension and dye solubilization, finding that the molecules self-assembled when they are above the critical aggregation concentration. The two methods yielded consistent results, showing that the self-assembly was reduced with higher levels of substitution. The antimicrobial activity of the octanyl-succinylated chitosan oligosaccharide (OSA-COS) derivatives against Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, and Fusarium oxysporum f.sp cucumerinum was investigated by the Oxford cup method. While the acetylated COS derivatives were not significantly effective against either E coli or S. aureus, they showed significant antifungal activity toward F. oxysporum that was superior to that of COS. The modified product was found to form a stable emulsion when mixed with whey protein isolate. The emulsion formed by the highly substituted derivatives have a certain stability and loading efficiency, which can be used for the encapsulation and delivery of astaxanthin.
