RESUMO

Changes in the atmospheric CO2 concentration influence plant growth and development by affecting the morphological structure and photosynthetic performance. Despite evidence for the macro-effects of elevated CO2 concentrations on plant morphology and yield in tomato, the gene regulatory network and key genes related to cross-regulation have not been reported. To identify the hub genes and metabolic pathways involved in the response of tomato to CO2 enrichment, weighted gene co-expression network analysis was conducted using gene expression profiles obtained by RNA sequencing. The role of the photosynthesis-related gene Soly720 (Solyc01g007720) in CO2-enriched tomato plants was explored. Tomato plants responded to CO2 enrichment primarily through RNA-related pathways and the metabolism of amino acids, fatty acids, and carbohydrates. The hub genes in co-expression networks were associated with plant growth and development, including cellular components and photosynthesis. Compared to wild-type plants, transgenic plants overexpressing the Soly720 gene exhibited 13.4%, 5.5%, 8.9%, and 4.1% increases in plant height, stem diameter, leaf length, and leaf width, respectively, under high-CO2 conditions. The morphological improvements in transgenic plants were accompanied by enhancement of photosynthetic performance in terms of chlorophyll contents, photosynthetic characteristics, and key enzyme activities. This study elucidates the response network of tomato to CO2 enrichment and demonstrates the regulatory role of Soly720 in photosynthesis under high-CO2 conditions.

Mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue 1 (MALT1) regulates inflammation and T helper (Th) cell differentiation, which may participate in the progression of Stanford type A aortic dissection (TAAD). This study intended to assess the association of MALT1 expression with prognosis in TAAD patients. In this prospective study, MALT1 expression was measured by reverse transcription-quantitative polymerase chain reaction assay from peripheral blood samples in 100 TAAD patients and 100 non-AD controls (non-AD patients with chest pain) before treatment. Besides, Th1, Th2, and Th17 cells of TAAD patients before treatment were measured by flow cytometry assay, and their 30-day mortality was recorded. MALT1 expression was ascended in TAAD patients vs. non-AD controls (P < 0.001). In TAAD patients, elevated MALT1 expression was linked with hypertension complication (P = 0.009), increased systolic blood pressure (r = 0.291, P = 0.003), C-reactive protein (CRP) (r = 0.286, P = 0.004), and D-dimer (r = 0.359, P < 0.001). Additionally, MALT1 expression was positively correlated with Th1 cells (r = 0.312, P = 0.002) and Th17 cells (r = 0.397, P < 0.001), but not linked with Th2 cells (r = -0.166, P = 0.098). Notably, the 30-day mortality of TAAD patients was 28.0%. MALT1 expression [odds ratio (OR) = 1.936, P = 0.004], CRP (OR = 1.108, P = 0.002), D-dimer (OR = 1.094, P = 0.003), and surgery timing (emergency vs. selective) (OR = 8.721, P = 0.024) independently predicted increased risk of death within 30 days in TAAD patients. Furthermore, the combination of the above-mentioned independent factors had an excellent ability in predicting 30-day mortality with the area under curve of 0.949 (95% confidence interval: 0.909-0.989). MALT1 expression relates to increased Th1 cells, Th17 cells, and 30-day mortality risk in TAAD patients.

Objective    To examine the effect of Human Amnion-Derived Multipotent Progenitor (AMP) cells and their novel ST266 secretome on neointimal hyperplasia after arterial balloon injury in rats.Material and Methods    Sprague-Dawley male rats were randomly divided into four groups (n=7): Control (PBS) group, systemic ST266 group, systemic AMP group and local AMP implant group. Neointimal hyperplasia was induced in the iliac using a 2F Fogarty embolectomy catheter. After surgery, the rats in the ST266 group were treated with 0.1, 0.5, or 1ml ST266 iv daily. In the systemic AMP groups, a single dose (SD) of 0.5 ×106 or 1×106 AMP cells was injected via the inferior vena cava after arterial balloon injury. In local AMP implant groups, 1×106, 5×106, or 20×106 AMP cells were implanted in 300 µl Matrigel (Mtgl) around the iliac artery after balloon injury. The iliac arteries were removed for histologic analysis at 28 days after the surgery. Re-endothelialization index was measured at 10 days after balloon injury.Results    ST266 (1 ml) group had a lower level of the Neointima / Neointima+Media ratio (N / N+M) 0.3±0.1 vs 0.5±0.1, p=0.004) and luminal stenosis (LS) percentage (18.2±1.9 % vs 39.2±5.8 %, p=0.008) compared with the control group. Single-dose AMP (1×106) decreased LS compared to the control group (19.5±5.4 % vs 39.2±5.8 %, p=0.033). Significant reduction in N / N+M were found between implanted AMPs (20×106) and the control group (0.4±0.1 vs 0.5±0.1, p=0.003) and the Mtgl-only group (0.5±0.1, p=0.007). Implanted AMPs (20×106) decreased the LS compared with both the control (39.2±5.8 %, p=0.001) and Mtgl-only group (37.5±8.6 %, p=0.016). ST266 (1 ml) significantly increased the re-endothelialization index compared to the control (0.4±0.1 vs 0.1±0.1, p=0.002).Conclusion    ST266 and AMP cells reduce neointimal formation and increase the re-endothelialization index after arterial balloon injury. ST266 is potentially a novel, therapeutic agent to prevent vascular restenosis in human.

The effect of magnesium (Mg) content on the microstructure, mechanical properties, and cytocompatibility of degradable Zn-0.5Mn-xMg (x = 0.05 wt%, 0.2 wt%, 0.5 wt%) alloys was investigated. The microstructure, corrosion products, mechanical properties, and corrosion properties of the three alloys were then thoroughly characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), electron back-scattered diffraction (EBSD), and other methods. According to the findings, the grain size of matrix was refined by the addition of Mg, while the size and quantity of Mg2Zn11 phase was increased. The Mg content could significantly improve the ultimate tensile strength (UTS) of the alloy. Compared with the Zn-0.5Mn alloy, the UTS of Zn-0.5Mn-xMg alloy was increased significantly. Zn-0.5Mn-0.5Mg exhibited the highest UTS (369.6 MPa). The strength of the alloy was influenced by the average grain size, the solid solubility of Mg, and the quantity of Mg2Zn11 phase. The increase in the quantity and size of Mg2Zn11 phase was the main reason for the transition from ductile fracture to cleavage fracture. Moreover, Zn-0.5Mn-0.2Mg alloy showed the best cytocompatibility to L-929 cells.

Zinc (Zn) alloys are being developed as the degradable biomaterial. However, the corrosion mechanism of Zn in the gastrointestinal environment is seldom investigated and needs to be addressed. In this study, the impacts of enzymes on the degradation of pure Zn via electrochemical measurements and immersion were investigated. Pepsin and pancreatin affected the degradation of pure Zn. In contrast with the solutions without enzymes, the degradation rates declined with the addition of enzymes in solutions. However, localized corrosion was observed because the adsorption of pepsin was not a perfect barrier to prevent corrosion. The adsorbed pancreatin protected the samples from corrosion mainly at the initial stage of immersion. With immersion in the simulated intestinal fluid, adsorption and desorption of pancreatin occurred simultaneously on the sample surface. These findings allow the development of Zn alloy-implanted devices for the digestive tract as well as the understanding of the Zn corrosion mechanism in the gastrointestinal environment.

BACKGROUND: The indications and outcome of surgery for Acute type A aortic dissection (ATAAD) in elderly patients are still debated, especially when they were above 80 years old.  Case presentation: This report describes the case of an octogenarian patient with ATAAD who underwent total arch replacement (TAR) combined with stented elephant trunk (SET) implantation. CONCLUSION: Emergent surgery should be performed on the ATAAD octogenarians without serious preoperative complications. Acceptable outcomes could be received by total arch replacement combined with SET implantation.

Existing compression methods typically focus on the removal of signal-level redundancies, while the potential and versatility of decomposing visual data into compact conceptual components still lack further study. To this end, we propose a novel conceptual compression framework that encodes visual data into compact structure and texture representations, then decodes in a deep synthesis fashion, aiming to achieve better visual reconstruction quality, flexible content manipulation, and potential support for various vision tasks. In particular, we propose to compress images by a dual-layered model consisting of two complementary visual features: 1) structure layer represented by structural maps and 2) texture layer characterized by low-dimensional deep representations. At the encoder side, the structural maps and texture representations are individually extracted and compressed, generating the compact, interpretable, inter-operable bitstreams. During the decoding stage, a hierarchical fusion GAN (HF-GAN) is proposed to learn the synthesis paradigm where the textures are rendered into the decoded structural maps, leading to high-quality reconstruction with remarkable visual realism. Extensive experiments on diverse images have demonstrated the superiority of our framework with lower bitrates, higher reconstruction quality, and increased versatility towards visual analysis and content manipulation tasks.

BACKGROUND: Our goal is to investigate a new practical dissection classification system, including type of dissection, location of the tear of the primary entry, and malperfusion. METHODS: The outcome of 151 patients with aortic dissection between January 2019 and May 2020 retrospectively were analyzed. All cases were classified with the Stanford dissection classification (A and B) by adding type non-A non-B. They were then further classified by the new classification system, including location of the primary Entry (E) and Malperfusion (M). All cases were followed up for six months. RESULTS: The distribution of 151 patients was 53.0%, 27.8%, and 19.2%, respectively, in type A, B, and non-A non-B. The in-hospital mortality rate was 8.8%, 2.4%, and 3.4% in type A, B, and non-A non-B (P < 0.05) and postoperative neurological complications occurred in 33.8%, 7.1%, and 13.8% in type A, B, and non-A non-B (P < 0.05). Total arch replacement was performed in 53.8%, 4.8%, and 13.8% in type A, B, and non-A non-B. The in-hospital mortality rate was 12.0%, 10.4%, and 8.5% in type E1, E2 and E3, while it was 20.0%, 10.4%, and 8.5% in type M1, M2 and M3 (P < 0.05). CONCLUSIONS: The new practical dissection classification system is useful as a supplement to the Stanford dissection classification by regarding the extent of the disease process, aiding in decision-making about the operative indication and plan, and helping in anticipating prognosis.

OBJECTIVE: This study evaluated the early and late outcomes of non-total aortic arch replacement for acute Stanford A aortic dissection. METHODS: 131 cases of acute Stanford Type A aortic dissection with no rupture admitted to our hospital from January 2016 to December 2019 were selected for non-total aortic arch replacement. According to different surgical methods, 51 patients with tear-oriented ascending/hemiarch replacement were included in Group A, and 80 patients who underwent total arch replacement surgery were enrolled in Group B. The perioperative indicators, 30-day mortality rate, and the incidence of postoperative complications were compared between the two groups, and the survival rate of patients were compared by follow-up after discharge. RESULTS: The cardiopulmonary bypass time, cardiac perfusion time, invasive ventilation and ICU hospitalization in Group A were critically shorter than those in Group B (P<0.05). The incidence of transient cerebral dysfunction in Group A was substantially lower than that in Group B (P<0.05). The difference of comparison in perioperative mortality, incidence of permanent neurological dysfunction, and incidence of acute kidney and liver damage between the two groups was statistically insignificant (P>0.05). In addition, the two groups had statistically insignificant difference in survival during postoperative follow-up (P>0.05). CONCLUSION: For acute Stanford type A aortic dissection without rupture in aortic arch, the non-total aortic arch replacement has simple surgical method with high perioperative safety and long-term efficacy that similar to total arch replacement.

Human pose transfer (HPT) is an emerging research topic with huge potential in fashion design, media production, online advertising and virtual reality. For these applications, the visual realism of fine-grained appearance details is crucial for production quality and user engagement. However, existing HPT methods often suffer from three fundamental issues: detail deficiency, content ambiguity and style inconsistency, which severely degrade the visual quality and realism of generated images. Aiming towards real-world applications, we develop a more challenging yet practical HPT setting, termed as Fine-grained Human Pose Transfer (FHPT), with a higher focus on semantic fidelity and detail replenishment. Concretely, we analyze the potential design flaws of existing methods via an illustrative example, and establish the core FHPT methodology by combing the idea of content synthesis and feature transfer together in a mutually-guided fashion. Thereafter, we substantiate the proposed methodology with a Detail Replenishing Network (DRN) and a corresponding coarse-to-fine model training scheme. Moreover, we build up a complete suite of fine-grained evaluation protocols to address the challenges of FHPT in a comprehensive manner, including semantic analysis, structural detection and perceptual quality assessment. Extensive experiments on the DeepFashion benchmark dataset have verified the power of proposed benchmark against start-of-the-art works, with 12%-14% gain on top-10 retrieval recall, 5% higher joint localization accuracy, and near 40% gain on face identity preservation. @#[摘 要] 目的:探讨lncRNA FLJ26245在前列腺癌组织和细胞中的表达及其对PC-3细胞增殖与迁移能力的影响及其分子机制。方法:选用2017年3月至2019年5月在洛阳中心医院手术切除的52例前列腺癌及相应的癌旁组织标本,以及前列腺细胞系LNCaP、C4-2B、PC-3、DU-145和正常前列腺上皮细胞RWPE-1,用qPCR法检测前列腺癌组织和细胞中FLJ26245的表达水平。分别将FLJ26245 mimic和阴性对照质粒(lncR-NC)转染到PC-3细胞中,用MTT法、细胞划痕愈合实验分别检测细胞的增殖和迁移能力。生物信息学技术预测和双荧光素酶基因报告实验验证FLJ26245与miR-200a-3p、酪氨酸磷酸酶受体G(PTPRG)三者之间的靶向关系。用qPCR和WB法分别检测FLJ26245下游基因及增殖与迁移相关蛋白的表达。结果:FLJ26245在前列腺癌组织和细胞中的表达水平分别显著低于癌旁组织(P<0.01)和RWPE-1细胞(P<0.01或P<0.05),以PC-3细胞中的表达水平为最低(P<0.01)。FLJ26245过表达可明显抑制PC-3细胞的增殖和迁移能力(P<0.05或P<0.01)。FLJ26245可与miR-200a-3p靶向结合,miR-200a-3p可与PTPRG靶向结合(均P<0.01)。FLJ26245过表达的PC-3细胞中miR-200a-3p表达水平显著降低(P<0.01)、PTPRG mRNA和蛋白表达水平均明显升高(均P<0.01),细胞中增殖和迁移相关蛋白cyclin A、CDK2和Twist、N-cadherin均显著降低(均P<0.01)。结论:FLJ26245在前列腺癌组织及细胞中均低表达,其可能通过miR-200a-3p/PTPRG轴调控前列腺癌PC-3细胞的增殖与迁移能力。

OBJECTIVE: To compare the efficiency and security of the balloon dilators versus fascial dilators in percutaneous nephrolithotripsy (PCNL), We compared the difference of intraoperative and postoperative parameters of patients using these two different methods of expansion and having no significant statistic differences in peroperative parameters. METHODS: This is a retrospective analysis of 134 patients undergoing PCNL with upper urinary calculi from January 2012 to January 2014 in Luoyang Central Hospital affiliated to Zhengzhou University. These patients meeting the inclusion criteria were divided into two groups: the group of balloon dilators (group A) and the group of fascial dilators (group B). Two groups were compared for success rate of first expansion, clearance of stone, duration of surgery, intraoperative hemorrhage, blood transfusion rate, postoperative hospitalization and the incidence of complications. RESULT: In Group A, a total of 91 patients (51 men and 40 women, mean age 51.22±8.96 years, ranged from 28 to 68 years, the calculi maximum diameter from 0.9 to 4.5cm, 28 cases with a history of gravel, mean Body mass index 24.20±2.34, 73 cases with hydronephrosis and 26 cases with underlying diseases such as hypertension, diabetes and the like) undergoing PCNL were retrospectively reviewed. Similarly, In Group B, a total of 43 patients (28 men and 15 women, mean age 49.64±10.62 years, ranged from 15 to 70 years, the calculi maximum diameter from 1.1 to 5.2cm, 18 cases with a history of gravel, mean Body mass index 24.40±2.70, 38 cases with hydronephrosis and 14 cases with underlying diseases such as hypertension, diabetes and the like) undergoing PCNL were retrospectively reviewed. Our results showed that there was a statistically significant better outcome in Group A than in Group B in terms of success rate of first exploration, duration of operation, intraoperative hemorrhage, postoperative hospitalization and the incidence of complications. Additionally, there was no statistically significant difference with respect to clearance of stone and incidence of blood transfusion in the two groups. CONCLUSION: Balloon dilators had shorter operation time, less bleeding, higher success rate of first expansion, less postoperative complications and shorter postoperative hospitalization than fascial dilators in PCNL.

The prognostic role of chromophobe renal cell carcinoma (ChRCC) is still controversial. Here, we report on a patient who lived with tremendous non-progressed renal malignant tumour for eight years. The 32-year-old patient presented to our hospital with a huge renal tumour. Computed tomography (CT) scan showed a tumour 12 cm in diameter at the upper pole of the right kidney. Trans-abdominal laparoscopic right radical nephrectomy was performed. Histopathological examination confirmed this tumour to be a ChRCC. The phenomenon of long-term non-progressed renal malignant tumour will help us further understand the characteristics of ChRCC.

Based on the statistical analysis of operational energy consumption and its influential factors from data of 599 Chinese WWTPs in 2006, it is noticed that the most influential factors include treatment technology adopted, treated sewage amount, removed pollutants amount, etc. Using the conclusion above, this paper sets up an integrated system of operational energy performance assessment for municipal wastewater treatment plants. Combining with result from on-spot research and model simulation, the calculating method of benchmark value and score of 7 energy efficiency indicators grouped into 3 levels is stated. Applying the assessment system to three plants, its applicability and objectivity are proved and suggestions to improve energy performance are provided.
