RESUMO

To determine the suitable planting density and row spacing of short-season cotton suitable for machine picking in the Yellow River Basin of China, we conducted a two-year field experiment in Dezhou during 2018-2019. The experiment followed a split-plot design, with planting density (82500 plants·hm-2 and 112500 plants·hm-2) as the main plots and row spacing (equal row spacing of 76 cm, wide-narrow row spacing of 66 cm+10 cm, equal row spacing of 60 cm) as the subplots. We examined the effects of planting density and row spacing on growth and development, canopy structure, seed cotton yield and fiber quality of short-season cotton. The results showed that plant height and LAI under high density treatment were significantly greater than those under low density treatment. The transmittance of the bottom layer was significantly lower than under low density treatment. Plant height under 76 cm equal row spacing was significantly higher than that under 60 cm equal row spacing, while that under wide-narrow row spacing (66 cm +10 cm) was significantly smaller than that under 60 cm equal row spacing in peak bolling stage. The effects of row spacing on LAI varied between the two years, densities, and growth stages. On the whole, the LAI under the wide-narrow row spacing (66 cm+10 cm) was higher, with the curve declining gently after the peak, and it was higher than that in the two cases of equal row spacing in the harvest time. The change in transmittance of the bottom layer presented the opposite trend. Density, row spacing, and their interaction had significant effects on seed cotton yield and its components. In both years, seed cotton yield was the highest (3832 kg·hm-2 in 2018, 3235 kg·hm-2 in 2019) under wide-narrow row spacing (66 cm+10 cm), and it was more stable at high densities. Fiber quality was less affected by density and row spacing. To sum up, the optimal density and row spacing of short-season cotton were as follows: density with 112500 plants·hm-2 and wide-narrow row spacing (66 cm+10 cm).

RESUMO

INTRODUCTION: To analyze the clinicopathological characteristics, immunohistochemistry, genotyping and prognosis of patients in the multicenter GIST data in Inner Mongolia, China. METHODS: Retrospective analysis was performed on GIST data from January 2013 to January 2018 in Inner Mongolia. Descriptive statistics were used to analyze the clinical characteristics of GIST patients. The Chi-square test was performed on the modified NIH criteria by age distribution, and Kaplan-Merie method was used for survival analysis. RESULTS: A total of 804 patients were included in the GIST database in Inner Mongolia, with a male to female ratio of 1.1102:1. The most common location was the gastric (465). Mitotic count ≤5/50HPFs was found in 67.3 % patients. There were 276 patients with tumor diameter of 2-5 cm and 354 patients with tumor diameter of 5.1-10 cm.The modified NIH criteria was mainly of intermediate risk (210) and high risk (342). The recurrence and metastasis of patients were related to the tumor location, mitotic index, tumor size, and modified NIH criteria. All patients were followed up for 1-10 years, in which 63.1 % of them were followed up for at least three years. The 3-year survival rates of patients with modified NIH criteria of very low risk, low risk, intermediate risk, and high risk were 100 %, 100 %, 100 %, and 96.3 %, respectively. CONCLUSIONS: The incidence of GIST in middle-aged and elder people in Inner Mongolia is high, and the long-term prognosis of patients after surgical treatment is good, which can objectively reflect the incidence, diagnosis and treatment of GIST in Inner Mongolia.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the association between blood pressure and all-cause mortality in Shanxi, China. METHODS: The '2002 China Nutrition and Health Survey' baseline data in Shanxi province was used. A retrospective investigation was performed in 2015. The effects of SBP and DBP on the all-cause mortality were analyzed using the Cox regression model. The hazard ratio ( HR) and 95% confidence interval ( CI) were estimated by the sex and age groups. RESULTS: The follow-up rate was 76.52% over 13 years, while the cumulative mortality rate for all participants was 917.12/100,000 person-years. The mortality rose with an increasing SBP ( χ 2 trend = 270.537, P < 0.001) or DBP level ( χ 2 trend = 57.240, P < 0.001). After adjustment for the confounding factors, a significant association between mortality and high SBP (≥ 160 mmHg) and high DBP (≥ 100 mmHg), with adjusted HR ranging from 1.405- to 2.179-fold for SBP and 1.550- to 2.854-fold for DBP, was noted. Significant HRs for most DBP subgroups were found in > 60-year-old participants. Males with DBP ≥ 100 mmHg had a significantly higher mortality, with an HR (95% CI) of 2.715 (1.377-5.351). CONCLUSION: Adults with SBP > 160 mmHg and DBP > 100 mmHg had a higher mortality risk. Sex and age difference was noted in both DBP and mortality risk.

RESUMO

The present study aimed to investigate early risk factors for hyperlipidemic acute pancreatitis (HLAP) in order to open up novel routes for its prevention and treatment. Demographics, laboratory data obtained within 48 h, enhanced computed tomography (CT) imaging data and the modified CT severity index (MCTSI) for 111 patients with HLAP who were assessed at Ordos Central Hospital (Ordos, China) between January 2015 and October 2017 were retrospectively analyzed. Of these, 17 patients progressed to infectious pancreatic necrosis (IPN) and 14 patients progressed to organ failure (OF), the occurrence of which were the study outcomes. The patients were divided into pairs groups: IPN and non-IPN, as well as OF and non-OF, and differences between the groups were determined regarding various clinicopathological parameters. Furthermore, univariate and multivariate regression analyses were performed to identify parameters associated with the risk of progression to IPN or OP. On univariate analysis, the following parameters were deemed as being significantly associated with the risk of IPN: Serum calcium ions, C-reactive protein (CRP), extent of necrosis, procalcitonin (PTC) and the MCTSI. Furthermore, calcium ions, red cell distribution width (RDW), extent of necrosis and the MCTSI were significantly associated with the risk of OF on univariate analysis. Multivariate logistic regression analysis for these parameters then indicated that CRP (P=0.014), RDW (P=0.025) and the extent of necrosis (P=0.022) were significant and independent predictors of progression; thus, these are early risk factors for patients with HLAP. Receiver operating characteristic curves were generated to evaluate the predictive value of these factors, and the area under the curve for the three parameters was 0.863 [95% confidence interval (CI), 0.646-0.886], 0.727 (95% CI, 0.651-0.803) and 0.833 (95% CI, 0.739-0.936), respectively. Therefore, CRP, RDW and the extent of necrosis are early predictive indexes for the risk of progression in HLAP.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the efficacy of pressure reduction by peritoneal catheterization in patients with malignant ascites-induced abdominal compartment syndrome (ACS). METHODS: Clinical data of 29 patients with malignant ascites-induced ACS from October 2002 to October 2008 were analyzed retrospectively. Intra-abdominal pressure (IAP) was reduced by peritoneal catheterization. Changes of intra-abdominal pressure and ascites volume were observed during treatment. Clinical signs and urinary volume were monitored. RESULTS: IAP was less than 25 cm H(2)O in 2 cases, 25 to 35 cm H(2)O in 21 cases, more than 35 cm H(2)O in 6 cases. IAP decreased significantly after drainage of 1000 to 1500 ml of ascites, then IAP curve leveled off. With all the ascites drained, IAP maintained at 11 to 12 cm H(2)O and at 6 to 8 cm H(2)O after 24 hours. Blood pressure was stable without significant changes before and after IAP reduction (P>0.05). The breathing rate and heart rate were improved, and 24 h urinary volume increased significantly after IAP reduction (P<0.01). CONCLUSION: Early peritoneal catheterization can improve the cardiac, pulmonary, and renal function in malignant ascites-induced ACS.

RESUMO

The performance of electrostatic precipitators (ESPs) is affected by factors such as the geometric configurations, the charge conditions and the fluid flow and the particulate flow characteristics. In this paper, a theoretical model is presented to study the particle transport in the collecting channel of a laboratory-scale single-stage multi-wire ESP. The employed model is validated by comparing its predictions with published experimental data and other theoretical prediction models. The particle size distribution is represented by a lognormal function, and the effects of the geometric parameters of ESPs on collection efficiency under different charge conditions are calculated and analyzed. The results confirm that the collection efficiency of ESPs can be enhanced by employing large-sized corona wire under the same average current density or corona power ratio, while the opposite rule is shown under the same electric field strength.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the association between birth defects and dietary nutrient intake in a high risk area of China. METHODS: A dietary survey was performed and serum folic acid was measured in women whose pregnancy was affected by neural tube defects (NTDs) or unaffected by any birth defects (BDs) in Zhongyang and Jiaokou Counties in Shanxi Province of China. RESULTS: The local average consumption of foods including dark green vegetables, fruits, fat and meat, and nutrient intake (e.g., energy, protein, retinol, riboflavin, vitamin E, and selenium) were lower than the national average level. In women of childbearing age, these regions, the intake of nutrients was much lower than the recommended nutrient intake (9%-77%). The case-control dietary nutrition study of women whose pregnancy was affected by BDs (including NTDs and congenital heart defects) demonstrated that, in early pregnancy, adequate nutrition (i.e., eating meat, fresh vegetables, fruit more than once a week) was a protective factor, while eating germinated potatoes was a risk factor. The geometrical mean (p5-p95) of serum folic acid in women with NTD birth defects was 9.6 nmol/L (3.6, 23.03), which was significantly lower than that in normal women (14.03 nmol/L). CONCLUSION: Women of childbearing age in the two counties of Shanxi Province, China, have a marked insufficient intake of some nutrients, especially folic acid, zinc, vitamins A and B12. This nutrient deficiency may be an important risk factor for the high prevalence of birth defects in these regions. Therefore, adequate dietary nutrition in early pregnancy can prevent BDs.
