[Autopsy case of intravascular lymphomatosis with pancreatic carcinoma].

We report an autopsy case of intravascular lymphomatosis (IVL) that arose after radiation therapy and chemotherapy for an inoperable pancreatic carcinoma. A 66-year-old man who suffered from diabetes mellitus and pancreatic carcinoma presented with aggressive progression of consciousness disturbance and high fever. The laboratory findings disclosed marked thrombocytopenia, hypercalcemia, and elevated serum PTH-related peptide. The patient soon died of ventricular fibrillation due to uncontrollable hypercalcemia. Postmortem examination with immunohistochemical analysis revealed a well-differentiated tubular adenocarcinoma in the pancreatic body as well as an accumulation of neoplastic B-lymphocytes in small vessels throughout the body without systemic lymphadenopathy. To our knowledge, double neoplasms including IVL are extremely rare.

[Analysis on deformity of disk associated with internal derangement of TMJ].

Internal derangement of temporomandibular joint has been studied mainly arthrographically about disk position, but it was reported that morphologic alterations and histo-chemical changes of disk were frequently observed in joints with internal derangement. The aim of this investigation was to study the relationship between deformity of disk and the kind of internal derangement of TMJ (anterior disk displacement with or without reduction). We analysed arthrographically the configuration of anterior displaced disk according to the criteria of Westesson. Deformity of disk was seen in 35 joints in 60 joints (58.3%) associated with anterior disk displacement with reduction, and 51 joints in 66 joints (77.3%) without reduction. Statistically significant difference existed between the distribution of disk configuration in with-reduction and without-reduction. We analysed the relationship between distribution of disk configuration and age, clicking period and locking period. In cases long suffering from clicking and locking, no-deformed disk were seen, and any certain type of deformed disk did not increase. From above results it was suggested that there was a strong relationship between distribution of disk configulation and types of anterior disk displacement (with or without reduction).

Recurrence of 49-base decamers, nonomers, and octamers within mouse C mu gene of Ig heavy chain and its primordial building block.

Within the published 2,168-base-long mouse C mu gene of Ig heavy chain consisting of four coding and four noncoding segments, 2 base decamers, 8 nonomers, and 39 octamers recurred. Recurring base heptamers (about 100) and hexamers (about 350) were simply too numerous to merit individual identification. In spite of extensive overlaps between these recurring base decamers to hexamers, they occupied nearly the entire length of mouse Ig C mu gene. As with other genes of the beta-sheet-forming beta 2-microglobulin family, the Ig C mu gene (flanking and intervening noncoding sequences included) is not a unique sequence but rather it is degenerate repeats of the 45-base-long primordial building-block sequence uniquely its own. This primordial building block must originally have specified the 15-amino-acid-residue-long primordial arm of beta-sheet-forming loops, the characteristics of the beta 2-microglobulin family of polypeptides.
