RESUMO

The crystal structure of the high-pressure phase of hexahydro-1,3,5-trinitro-1,3,5-triazine (gamma-RDX), which is stable above 4 GPa at room temperature, was investigated by using infrared spectroscopy and powder X-ray diffraction measurements followed by Rietveld refinements using a diamond anvil cell (DAC). Although gamma and alpha phases were found to belong to the same space group Pbca, they exhibited a different crystal packing. The molecular structure of the gamma phase exhibited the same conformation as that of the alpha phase; however, the torsion angles of N-NO2 changed marginally.

RESUMO

We studied hydrophilic photosensitizer ATX-S10Na(II) mediated photocytotoxicity against macrophage-like cell under pulsed irradiation. We found that photocytotoxicity suppression under high intensity irradiation was directly induced by a decrease in the Type-II photoreaction. We showed that this decrease was not attributable to absorption saturation with the high intensity irradiation. We found the cell lethality change from 70% to 13% with the pulse peak power density ranging from 0.29 MW/cm(2) to 1.36 MW/cm(2), at the light dose of 20 J/cm(2) and the pulse repetition rate at 40 Hz. To investigate the Type-II reaction, we measured the photobleaching, oxygen consumption and singlet oxygen luminescence of the photosensitizer solution. The transient absorption from the photosensitizer during the irradiation was measured with the pump-and-probe technique. We believe that the photocytotoxicity suppression induced by the high intensity irradiation might be useful for the treatment of depth-controlled photodynamic therapy without the wall damage of a hollow organ.

RESUMO

In the crystal structure of the title compound, [Fe(H(2)O)(6)](C(6)H(2)N(3)O(7))(2).2H(2)O, the centrosymmetric cationic iron complexes and picrate anions form separate stacks extending along the b axis. No picrate species ligate to the metal cation. Picrate ions are linked to one another in the stack via short intermolecular C.C contacts of 3.083 (4) and 3.055 (4) A. Variable-temperature X-ray diffraction measurements performed between room temperature and 93 K showed a linear decrease of the lattice parameters, suggesting that there is no phase transition.
