RESUMO

BACKGROUND: HIV-1 CRF65_cpx strain carries drug-resistant mutations, which raises concerns about its potential for causing virologic failure. The CRF65_cpx ranks as the fourth most prevalent on Hainan Island, China. However, the origin and molecular epidemiology of CRF65_cpx strains in this area remain unclear. This study aims to estimate the spatial origins and dissemination patterns of HIV-1 CRF65_cpx in this specific region. METHODS: Between 2018 and 2021, a total of 58 pol sequences of the CRF65_cpx were collected from HIV-positive patients on Hainan Island. The available CRF65_cpx pol sequences from public databases were compiled. The HIV-TRACE tool was used to construct transmission networks. The evolutionary history of the introduction and dissemination of HIV-1 CRF65_cpx on Hainan Island were analyzed using phylogenetic analysis and the Bayesian coalescent-based approach. RESULTS: Among the 58 participants, 89.66% were men who have sex with men (MSM). The median age was 25 years, and 43.10% of the individuals had a college degree or above. The results indicated that 39 (67.24%) sequences were interconnected within a single transmission network. A consistent expansion was evident from 2019 to 2021, with an incremental annual addition of four sequences into the networks. Phylodynamic analyses showed that the CRF65_cpx on Hainan Island originated from Beijing (Bayes factor, BF = 17.4), with transmission among MSM on Hainan Island in 2013.2 (95%HPD: 2012.4, 2019.5), subsequently leading to an outbreak. Haikou was the local center of the CRF65_cpx epidemic. This strain propagated from Haikou to other locations, including Sanya (BF > 1000), Danzhou (BF = 299.3), Chengmai (BF = 27.0) and Tunchang (BF = 16.3). The analyses of the viral migration patterns between age subgroups and risk subgroups revealed that the viral migration directions were from "25-40 years old" to "17-24 years old" (BF = 14.6) and to "over 40 years old" (BF = 17.6), and from MSM to heterosexuals (BF > 1000) on Hainan Island. CONCLUSION: Our analyses elucidate the transmission dynamics of CRF65_cpx strain on Hainan Island. Haikou is identified as the potential hotspot for CRF65_cpx transmission, with middle-aged MSM identified as the key population. These findings suggest that targeted interventions in hotspots and key populations may be more effective in controlling the HIV epidemic.

RESUMO

Vitiligo is one of the common chronic autoimmune skin diseases in clinic, which is characterized by localized or generalized depigmentation and seriously affects the physical and mental health of patients. At present, the pathogenesis of vitiligo is not clear; mainly, heredity, autoimmunity, oxidative stress, melanocyte (MC) self-destruction, and the destruction, death, or dysfunction of MCs caused by various reasons are always the core of vitiligo. Regulatory cell death (RCD) is an active and orderly death mode of cells regulated by genes, which widely exists in various life activities, plays a pivotal role in maintaining the homeostasis of the organism, and is closely related to the occurrence and development of many diseases. With the deepening of the research and understanding of RCD, people gradually found that there are many different forms of RCD in the lesions and perilesional skin of vitiligo patients, such as apoptosis, autophagy, pyroptosis, ferroptosis, and so on. Different cell death modes have different mechanisms in vitiligo, and different RCDs can interact and regulate each other. In this article, the mechanism related to RCD in the pathogenesis of vitiligo is reviewed, which provides new ideas for exploring the pathogenesis and targeted treatment of vitiligo.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Clinical data are limited in patients with vitiligo with or without autoimmune thyroid disease. OBJECTIVES: The objective of the study was to investigate the clinical features and basic data of patients with vitiligo, especially those with autoimmune thyroid disease. METHODS: The study was a single-center retrospective study. A total of 1305 patients with vitiligo from June 2018 to May 2023 were included, and the clinical characteristics and basic information of the patients were recorded in detail. RESULTS: We identified an association between sex (odds ratio [OR]: 2.380; 95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.772-1.198), vitiligo duration (OR: 1.449; 95% CI: 1.076-1.952), skin involvement exceeding 5% of the body surface area (OR: 3.764; 95% CI: 2.134-6.640), negative emotions (OR: 3.076; 95% CI: 2.292-4.127), vitiligo type (OR: 1.974; 95% CI: 1.096-3.555), family history of AITD (OR: 4.979; 95% CI: 2.687-9.225), and family history of AD (OR: 2.418; 95% CI: 1.410-4.146) and patients with vitiligo. CONCLUSIONS: For patients with statistically significant associated risk factors, differential diagnosis and early intervention should be performed.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Bowen's disease (BD), also known as squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) in situ, should be treated actively. One of the therapy options, photodynamic (PDT) therapy, although an effective measure for the treatment, has a poor patient prognosis if not combined with other treatment options. Therefore, we propose the combination of electrodesiccation (ED) therapy and PTD in the treatment of large BD patches. METHOD: A retrospective study, comprising 11 cases of BD with large tumor areas, was conducted to analyze various aspects, such as curative effects, cosmetic effects, patient satisfaction, improvement in the quality of life, and adverse reactions, by combining ED with PTD. RESULT: The recurrence rate of BD patients treated with a combination of ED and PTD was 0% after one year with a satisfactory cosmetic degree (scar score was 1.91) and a high patient satisfaction (7.91). After treatment, the patients' quality of life was significantly improved (DLQI average was 20.08 and 4) and the difference was statistically significantly different. Also, the average healing time was 13.33 days. Adverse reactions were mainly pain and the incidence of infection was extremely low. CONCLUSION: ET combined with PDT is effective in the treatment of BD with large patches and has the advantages of fast healing, less scar formation, and a good cosmetic effect.

RESUMO

Carbon-coated metal chalcogenide composites have been demonstrated as one type of promising anode material for sodium-ion batteries (SIBs). However, combining carbon materials with micronanoparticles of metal chalcogenide always involve complicated processes, such as polymer coating, carbonization, and sulfidation/selenization. To address this issue, herein, we reported a series of carbon-coated FexSey@CN (FexSey = FeSe2, Fe3Se4, Fe7Se8) composites prepared via the thermodynamic transformation of a crystalline organic hybrid iron selenide [Fe(phen)2](Se4) (phen = 1,10-phenanthroline). By pyrolyzing the bulk crystals of [Fe(phen)2](Se4) at different temperatures, FexSey microrods were formed in situ, where the nitrogen-doped carbon layers were coated on the surface of the microrods. Moreover, all the as-prepared FexSey@CN composites exhibited excellent sodium-ion storage capabilities as anode materials in SIBs. This work proves that crystalline organic hybrid metal chalcogenides can be used as a novel material system for the in situ formation of carbon-coated metal chalcogenide composites, which could have great potential in the application of electrochemical energy storage.

RESUMO

Imidazolium-based ionic liquids have been widely applied in the synthesis of organic hybrid chalcogenidometalates, while the other types of ionic liquids are rarely tried. Reported here is the first application of a pyridinium-based ionic liquid in the preparation of two main-group heterometallic selenides featuring isomorphic three-dimensional frameworks. Of particular interest is that three gallium-tin selenides possessing another type of three-dimensional framework have been prepared by replacing the pyridinium-based ionic liquid with imidalolium-based ionic liquids under the same reaction conditions.
