RESUMO

Writing spatial information on ultrafast all-optical switching is essential for constructing ultrafast processing units in photonic applications, such as optical communication and computing networks. However, most methods ignore the fabrication and imaging of controllable switching area, limiting its spatial information and the further design in ultrafast devices. Here, we propose a method to spatially write in ultrafast all-optical switching based on MAPbI3 perovskite with nanocone structure and visualize the switching effect in arbitrary designed area. Due to the light confinement effect of nanocone fabrication using a fs laser, the light is strongly absorbed by perovskite and reach saturable absorption. It leads to ultrafast broadband transmittance change with 25 fs switching time and 10% modulation depth in nanocone perovskite area. Our preparation method offers high efficiency, performance, and flexibility for the spatial writing of ultrafast all-optical switching, which is promising for developing ultrafast all-optical networks and the next generation of communication technology.

RESUMO

HYPOTHESIS: Achieving rapid capillary wetting is highly desirable in nature and industries. Previous endeavors have primarily concentrated on passive wetting strategies through surface engineering. However, these approaches are inadequate for high-viscosity fluids due to the significant viscous resistance, especially for non-Newtonian fluids. In contrast, forced wetting emerges as a promising method to address the challenges associated with achieving rapid wetting of non-Newtonian fluids in capillaries. EXPERIMENTS: To investigate the forced wetting behavior of viscoelastic fluids in capillaries, we employ Xanthan Gum (XG) aqueous solutions as target fluids with the storage modulus significantly exceeding the loss modulus. We utilize smooth glass capillaries connected to a syringe pump to achieve high moving speeds of up to 1 m/s. FINDINGS: Our experiments reveal a significant distinction in the power-law exponent that governs the scaling relationship between the dynamic contact angle and velocity for viscoelastic fluids compared to Newtonian fluids. This exponent is considerably smaller and varies based on the concentration of viscoelastic fluids and the diameter of the capillaries. We suggest that the viscosity dominates the wetting dynamics of viscoelastic fluids, manifested by the contact line morphology-dependent behavior. This insight has significant implications for microfluidics and drug injectability.

RESUMO

Micro-supercapacitors (MSCs) represent a pressing requirement for powering the forthcoming generation of micro-electronic devices. The simultaneous realization of high-efficiency synthesis of electrode materials and precision patterning for MSCs in a single step presents an ardent need, yet it poses a formidable challenge. Herein, a unique shaped laser-induced patterned electron synchronization excitation strategy has been put forward to photochemical synthesis RuO2 /reduced graphene oxide (rGO) electrode and simultaneously manufacture the micron-scale high-performance MSCs with ultra-high resolution. Significantly, the technique represents a noteworthy advancement over traditional laser direct writing (LDW) patterning and photoinduced synthetic electrode methods. It not only improves the processing efficiency for MSCs and the controllability of laser-induced electrode material but also enhances electric fields and potentials at the interface for better electrochemical performance. The resultant MSCs exhibit excellent area and volumetric capacitance (516 mF cm-2 and 1720 F cm-3 ), and ultrahigh energy density (0.41 Wh cm-3 ) and well-cycle stability (retaining 95% capacitance after 12000 cycles). This investigation establishes a novel avenue for electrode design and underscores substantial potential in the fabrication of diverse microelectronic devices.

RESUMO

Bioelectronic medicine is a rapidly growing field where targeted electrical signals can act as an adjunct or alternative to drugs to treat neurological disorders and diseases via stimulating the peripheral nervous system on demand. However, current existing strategies are limited by external battery requirements, and the injury and inflammation caused by the mechanical mismatch between rigid electrodes and soft nerves. Here we report a wireless, leadless, and battery-free ferroelectret implant, termed NeuroRing, that wraps around the target peripheral nerve and demonstrates high mechanical conformability to dynamic motion nerve tissue. As-fabricated NeuroRing can act as an ultrasound receiver that converts ultrasound vibrations into electrostimulation pulses, thus stimulating the targeted peripheral nerve on demand. This capability is demonstrated by the precise modulation of the sacral splanchnic nerve to treat colitis, providing a framework for future bioelectronic medicines that offer an alternative to non-specific pharmacological approaches.

RESUMO

Downsizing electrode architectures have significant potential for microscale energy storage devices. Asymmetric micro-supercapacitors play an essential role in various applications due to their high voltage window and energy density. However, efficient production and sophisticated miniaturization of asymmetric micro-supercapacitors remains challenging. Here, we develop a maskless ultrafast fabrication of multitype micron-sized (10 × 10 µm2) micro-supercapacitors via temporally and spatially shaped femtosecond laser. MXene/1T-MoS2 can be integrated with laser-induced MXene-derived TiO2 and 1T-MoS2-derived MoO3 to generate over 6,000 symmetric micro-supercapacitors or 3,000 asymmetric micro-supercapacitors with high-resolution (200 nm) per minute. The asymmetric micro-supercapacitors can be integrated with other micro devices, thanks to the ultrahigh specific capacitance (220 mF cm-2 and 1101 F cm-3), voltage windows in series (52 V), energy density (0.495 Wh cm-3) and power density (28 kW cm-3). Our approach enables the industrial manufacturing of multitype micro-supercapacitors and improves the feasibility and flexibility of micro-supercapacitors in practical applications.

RESUMO

Ultratransparent electrodes have attracted considerable attention in optoelectronics and energy technology. However, balancing energy storage capability and transparency remains challenging. Herein, an in situ strategy employing a temporally and spatially shaped femtosecond laser is reported for photochemically synthesizing of MXene quantum dots (MQDs) uniformly attached to laser reduced graphene oxide (LRGO) with exceptional electrochemical capacitance and ultrahigh transparency. The mechanism and plasma dynamics of the synthesis process are analyzed and observed at the same time. The unique MQDs loaded on LRGO greatly improve the specific surface area of the electrode due to the nanoscale size and additional edge states. The MQD/LRGO supercapacitor has high flexibility and durability, ultrahigh energy density (2.04 × 10-3  mWh cm-2 ), long cycle life (97.6% after 12 000 cycles), and excellent capacitance (10.42 mF cm-2 ) with both high transparency (transmittance over 90%) and high performance. Furthermore, this method provides a means of preparing nanostructured composite electrode materials and exploiting quantum capacitance effects for energy storage.

RESUMO

Ubiquitous biological processes exhibit the ability to achieve spontaneous directionally guided droplet transport. Maskless three-dimensional (3D) fabrication of various miniature bionic structures, a method applicable to various materials, is subject to processing method limitations. This remains a large obstacle to realizing self-driven, continuous, and controllable unidirectional liquid spreading. Thus, we present a flexible maskless 3D method for fabricating bionic unidirectional liquid spreading surfaces by using a phase spatially shaped femtosecond laser. The laser can be transformed from having Gaussian distributions to having 3D bionic structure field distributions. Furthermore, we fabricated Syntrichia caninervis bionic structures with a spiculate end for unidirectional water spreading; 1 µL droplets had a 16 mm flow length on Si surfaces when the S. caninervis single structure was 34 (length), 8 (width), and 12 µm (height). Furthermore, various bionic structures-Nepenthes, cactus, and moth structures-were fabricated on Si, SiO2, and Ti. We also demonstrated the measurability of two-dimensional (S-shaped) curved flows on Si wafers as well as 3D curved flows on a Ti pipe turning 120° within 2320 ms. Our method can realize high-efficiency maskless 3D processing of various materials and structures (especially asymmetric structures); it is both flexible and fast, effectively expanding the processing capacity of micro-/nanostructures on patterned surfaces. This is of great significance to various domains such as microfluids, fog collection, and chemical reaction control.

RESUMO

Micro-supercapacitors are promising miniaturized energy storage devices that have attracted considerable research interest. However, their widespread use is limited by inefficient microfabrication technologies and their low energy density. Here, a flexible, designable micro-supercapacitor can be fabricated by a single pulse laser photonic-reduction stamping. A thousand spatially shaped laser pulses can be generated in one second, and over 30,000 micro-supercapacitors are produced within 10 minutes. The micro-supercapacitor and narrow gaps were dozens of microns and 500 nm, respectively. With the unique three-dimensional structure of laser-induced graphene based electrode, a single micro-supercapacitor exhibits an ultra-high energy density (0.23 Wh cm-3), an ultra-small time constant (0.01 ms), outstanding specific capacitance (128 mF cm-2 and 426.7 F cm-3) and a long-term cyclability. The unique technique is desirable for a broad range of applications, which surmounts current limitations of high-throughput fabrication and low energy density of micro-supercapacitors.

RESUMO

Molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) micro/nanostructures are desirable for tuning electronic properties, developing required functionality, and improving the existing performance of multilayer MoS2 devices. This work presents a useful method to flexibly microprocess multilayer MoS2 flakes through femtosecond laser pulse direct writing, which can directly fabricate regular MoS2 nanoribbon arrays with ribbon widths of 179, 152, 116, 98, and 77 nm, and arbitrarily pattern MoS2 flakes to form micro/nanostructures such as single nanoribbon, labyrinth array, and cross structure. This method is mask-free and simple and has high flexibility, strong controllability, and high precision. Moreover, numerous oxygen molecules are chemically and physically adsorbed on laser-processed MoS2, attributed to roughness defect sites and edges of micro/nanostructures that contain numerous unsaturated edge sites and highly active centers. In addition, electrical tests of the field-effect transistor fabricated from the prepared MoS2 nanoribbon arrays reveal new interesting features: output and transfer characteristics exhibit a strong rectification (not going through zero and bipolar conduction) of drain-source current, which is supposedly attributed to the parallel structures with many edge defects and p-type chemical doping of oxygen molecules on MoS2 nanoribbon arrays. This work demonstrates the ability of femtosecond laser pulses to directly induce micro/nanostructures, property changes, and new device properties of two-dimensional materials, which may enable new applications in electronic devices based on MoS2 such as logic circuits, complementary circuits, chemical sensors, and p-n diodes.
