Metal-organic framework mixed-matrix membrane-based extraction combined HPLC for determination of bisphenol A in milk and milk packaging.

The residues of bisphenol A (BPA) in milk packaging may transfer to milk, adversely affecting the human endocrine system. Consequently, to analyse or monitor BPA, it is imperative to develop rapid and effective approaches to BPA extraction from milk and milk packing as BPA is usually present in trace levels. Herein, we developed a rapid, simple, and low-cost dispersive-membrane-solid-phase-extraction (DME) for BPA with MIL-101(Cr) mixed-matrix-membrane (MMM). The MMM had large surface area (1322.09 m2/g) and pore volume (0.65 cm3/g), possessed great extraction efficiency of BPA, and kept more than 90% extraction efficiency after 20 times of reuse. Using the developed MIL-101(Cr)-MMM-based DME coupled with HPLC-fluorescence detector, we received an adequate linearity in the range of 0.1 âˆ¼ 50 µg/L BPA and a limit of detection as low as 16 ng/L under optimized conditions. The recoveries of BPA in milk and milk bottles were from 74.2% to 110.6%, with RSDs less than 9.4%.

Next-generation sequencing yields the complete chloroplast genome of Abies kawakamii.

Abies kawakamii is endemic to the island of Taiwan and has been listed as a threatened species in the Red List. In present study, we reported the complete chloroplast genome of A. kawakamii. The chloroplast genome is 121,290 bp in size. It was composed of 114 genes and they were 68 peptide-encoding genes, 35 tRNA genes, four rRNA genes, six open reading frames and one pseudogene. Loss of ndh genes was identified in the genome of A. kawakamii. Inverted repeat sequences include trnS-psaM-ycf12-trnG and trnG-ycf12-psaM-trnS were recognized in 52-kb inversion points. The phylogenetic analysis confirms that the Abies species are strongly supported as monophyletic. The complete plastome of A. kawakamii will provide potential genetic resources for further conservation and management strategies.

Cu(I)-catalyzed asymmetric chlorination of ß-keto esters in the presence of chiral phosphine-Schiff base type ligands.

Chiral phosphine-Schiff base type ligand L8 prepared from (R)-(-)-2-(diphenylphosphino)-1,1'-binaphthyl-2'-amine was found to be a fairly effective ligand for Cu(I)-promoted enantioselective chlorination of ß-keto esters to give the corresponding products in high yields and with moderate enantioselectivities.

Palladium(II)-catalyzed ring enlargement of 2-(arylmethylene)cyclopropylcarbinols: strong effect of substituent electronic nature on the reaction pathway.

In the presence of Pd(II) catalyst and copper(II) bromide, 2-(arylmethylene)cyclopropylcarbinols undergo ring enlargement to deliver (arylcyclobutenyl)carbinols or hydrogenated furans in good yields under mild conditions; mechanisms accounting for the distinct products have been proposed on the basis of control and deuterium labeling experiments.
