BACKGROUND: Toxoplasma gondii is an intracellular opportunistic pathogenic protozoan that poses serious threats, particularly in immunocompromised individuals. In the absence of a robust prophylactic measure, the mitigation and management of toxoplasmosis present formidable challenges to public health. We recently found that GRA72 plays an important role in parasitophorous vacuole (PV) morphology, growth and virulence of T. gondii. However, whether gra72-deficient strain can be used as a vaccine remains unknown. METHODS: We first examined the attenuated virulence of gra72 gene knockout strain (PruΔgra72) and the parasite load in organs of the infected mice. Subsequently, we evaluated the immune-protective effects of the PruΔgra72 vaccination against challenge with various types of T. gondii tachyzoites and Pru cysts. Furthermore, levels of antibodies and cytokines induced by PruΔgra72 vaccination were examined. Statistical analysis was conducted by Student's t-test or Mantel-Cox log-rank test based on data obtained from three independent experiments with GraphPad Prism 8.0. RESULTS: We found that PruΔgra72 strain exhibited a significantly attenuated virulence even at the highest dose of 5 × 107 tachyzoites in Kunming mice model. The significant decrease of brain cyst burden and parasite load in the organs of the PruΔgra72-infected mice suggested its potentiality as a live-attenuated vaccine. Hence, we explored the protective immunity of PruΔgra72 vaccination against toxoplasmosis. Results showed that vaccination with 5 × 106 PruΔgra72 tachyzoites triggered a strong and sustained Th1-biased immune response, marked by significantly increased levels of anti-T. gondii IgG antibodies, and significantly higher levels of Th1 type cytokines (IL-2, IL-12 and IFN-γ) compared to that of Th2 type (IL-4 and IL-10). Vaccination with 5 × 106 PruΔgra72 tachyzoites in mice conferred long-term protection against T. gondii infection by less virulent tachyzoites (ToxoDB#9 PYS and Pru strains) and Pru cysts, provided partial protection against acute infection by high virulent Type I RH tachyzoites and significantly decreased brain cyst burden of chronically infected mice. CONCLUSIONS: The avirulent PruΔgra72 induced strong protective immunity against acute and chronic T. gondii infection and is a promising candidate for developing a safe and effective live-attenuated vaccine against T. gondii infection.

Even though catalytic asymmetric bifunctionalization of allenes has been extensively studied, almost all of the reported examples have been achieved in a two-component manner. In this study, we report a highly efficient asymmetric bifunctionalization of allenes with iodohydrocarbons and NH2-unprotected amino acid esters. The adopted chiral aldehyde/palladium combined catalytic system precisely governs the chemoselectivity, regioselectivity, and stereoselectivity of this three-component reaction. A wide range of substituted aryl iodides, allenes and amino acid esters can well participate in this reaction and deliver structurally diverse α,α-disubstituted α-amino acid esters with excellent experimental outcomes. One of the resulting products is utilized for the total synthesis of the molecule (S,R)-VPC01091.

Targeted protein degradation technology has gained substantial momentum over the past two decades as a revolutionary strategy for eliminating pathogenic proteins that are otherwise refractory to treatment. Among the various approaches developed to harness the body's innate protein homeostasis mechanisms for this purpose, lysosome targeting chimeras (LYTACs) that exploit the lysosomal degradation pathway by coupling the target proteins with lysosome-trafficking receptors represent the latest innovation. These chimeras are uniquely tailored to degrade proteins that are membrane-bound and extracellular, encompassing approximately 40% of all proteome. Several novel LYTAC formulas have been developed recently, providing valuable insights for the design and development of therapeutic degraders. This review delineates the recent progresses of LYTAC technology, its practical applications, and the factors that dictate target degradation efficiency. The potential and emerging trends of this technology are discussed as well. LYTAC technology offers a promising avenue for targeted protein degradation, potentially revolutionizing the therapeutic landscape for numerous diseases.

BACKGROUND: Wernicke encephalopathy is a neurological disorder caused by thiamine deficiency, commonly seen in alcoholic populations but also involving other circumstances that may lead to thiamine deficiency. The recognition of Wernicke encephalopathy often depends on clinicians' keen ability to detect its typical triad of features; however, most cases do not present with the full constellation of signs, which complicates the timely identification of Wernicke encephalopathy. CASE SUMMARY: This case report describes a patient with nasopharyngeal carcinoma who developed abnormal ocular function and ataxia following concurrent chemoradiotherapy, without a history of alcohol abuse. With the aid of radiological examinations, he received a timely diagnosis and treatment; however, his symptoms did not fully resolve during follow-up. CONCLUSION: For patients with malignant tumors exhibiting neurological symptoms, clinicians should consider the possibility of Wernicke encephalopathy and provide prophylactic thiamine therapy.

This study introduces a novel method for detecting and measuring transparent glass sheets using hyperspectral imaging (HSI). The main goal of this study is to create a conversion technique that can accurately display spectral information from collected images, particularly in the visible light spectrum (VIS) and near-infrared (NIR) areas. This technique enables the capture of relevant spectral data when used with images provided by industrial cameras. The next step in this investigation is using principal component analysis to examine the obtained hyperspectral images derived from different treated glass samples. This analytical procedure standardizes the magnitude of light wavelengths that are inherent in the HSI images. The simulated spectral profiles are obtained using the generalized inverse matrix technique on the normalized HSI images. These profiles are then matched with spectroscopic data obtained from microscopic imaging, resulting in the observation of distinct dispersion patterns. The novel use of images coloring methods effectively displays the thickness of the glass processing sheet in a visually noticeable way. Based on empirical research, changes in the thickness of the glass coating in the NIR-HSI range cause significant changes in the transmission of infrared light at different wavelengths within the NIR spectrum. This phenomenon serves as the foundation for the study of film thickness. The root mean square error inside the NIR area is impressively low, calculated to be just 0.02. This highlights the high level of accuracy achieved by the technique stated above. Potential areas of investigation that arise from this study are incorporating the proposed approach into the design of a real-time, wide-scale automated optical inspection system.

Based on previous experiments, we demonstrated puerarin inhibited the proliferation of BC T24 cells. To further explore the molecular mechanisms, whole transcriptome sequencing combined with bioinformatics analysis was performed. The results showed puerarin significantly inhibited T24 proliferation and pathway enrichment analysis of differentially expressed RNAs were mainly enriched in Cell cycle, PI3K/AKT, Ras family chromatin remodeling. lncRNAs and circRNAs may regulate miRNAs, thereby regulating the expression of ITGA1, PAK2 and UTRN. The predicted upstream transcription factor ERG and puerarin were well docked, which may be one of the underlying mechanisms by which puerarin inhibiting BC cells.

OBJECTIVE: Glioma is a central nervous system tumor arising from glial cells. Despite significant advances in diagnosis and treatment, most patients with high-grade gliomas have a poor prognosis. Many studies have shown that long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) may play important roles in the development, progression and treatment of many tumors, including gliomas. Molecularly targeted therapy may be a new direction for the adjuvant treatment of glioma. Therefore, we hope that by studying differentially expressed lncRNAs (DElncRNAs) in glioma, we can discover lncRNAs that can serve as biomarkers for glioma and provide better therapeutic modalities for glioma patients. METHODS: First, the expression of lncRNAs in 5 normal brain (NB) tissues and 10 glioma tissues was examined by RNA sequencing (RNA-seq). Next, we performed Kaplan-Meier analysis of data from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) database to assess the prognostic value of these variables. Finally, functional analysis of the DElncRNAs was performed by means of Gene Ontology (GO) enrichment and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) pathway analysis. RESULTS: RNA sequencing analysis revealed 85 upregulated miRNAs and 71 downregulated lncRNAs in low-grade glioma (LGG) and 50 upregulated lncRNAs and 70 downregulated lncRNAs in glioblastoma (GBM). Among them, AL355974.3 was the most upregulated lncRNA. LINC00632 was the most downregulated lncRNA. Second, LGG patients with higher AL355974.3 expression had worse overall survival according to Kaplan-Meier analysis of the TCGA database. Finally, bioinformatics analysis revealed that the target genes of these DElncRNAs were enriched in various biological processes and signaling pathways, such as cell metabolic and developmental processes. CONCLUSION: Our findings provide evidence that AL355974.3 may be a new biomarker for glioma.

BACKGROUND: The accurate selection of patients likely to respond to renal denervation (RDN) is crucial for optimizing treatment outcomes in patients with hypertension. This systematic review was designed to evaluate patient-specific factors predicting the RDN response. METHODS AND RESULTS: We focused on individuals with hypertension who underwent RDN. Patients were categorized based on their baseline characteristics. The primary outcome was blood pressure (BP) reduction after RDN. Both randomized controlled trials and nonrandomized studies were included. We assessed the risk of bias using corresponding tools and further employed the Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development, and Evaluation approach to assess the overall quality of evidence. A total of 50 studies were ultimately included in this systematic review, among which 17 studies were for meta-analysis. Higher baseline heart rate and lower pulse wave velocity were shown to be associated with significant antihypertensive efficacy of RDN on 24-hour systolic BP reduction (weighted mean difference, -4.05 [95% CI, -7.33 to -0.77]; weighted mean difference, -7.20 [95% CI, -9.79 to -4.62], respectively). In addition, based on qualitative analysis, higher baseline BP, orthostatic hypertension, impaired baroreflex sensitivity, and several biomarkers are also reported to be associated with significant BP reduction after RDN. CONCLUSIONS: In patients with hypertension treated with the RDN, higher heart rate, and lower pulse wave velocity were associated with significant BP reduction after RDN. Other factors, including higher baseline BP, hypertensive patients with orthostatic hypertension, BP variability, impaired cardiac baroreflex sensitivity, and some biomarkers are also reported to be associated with a better BP response to RDN.

BACKGROUND: Lung adenocarcinoma is a high-mortality rate cancer. Within this category, Lung mucinous adenocarcinoma (LMAC) is a rare and distinct subtype of lung adenocarcinoma necessitating further investigation. The study was launched to compare the difference of survival features between LMAC and lung non-mucinous adenocarcinoma (LNMAC) and to investigate the significance and demand for developing a new staging system tailored to LMAC. METHODS: This retrospective study assessed the suitableness of the current staging system for LMAC. It compared the overall survival (OS) between LMAC and LNMAC from 2004 to 2020 (LNMAC: 160,387; LMAC: 6,341) and instituted a novel classification framework for LMAC based on US population. Verification group consisting of patients from two Chinese medical centers from 2010 to 2018 (n = 392) was set to ascertain the applicability of this novel system. The primary endpoint was OS. To minimize the bias, propensity score match (PSM) was employed. Survival analysis and Log-rank test were executed to explore the survival features of LMAC. RESULTS: The results indicated that the existed staging system was not suitable for LMAC. Patients diagnosed with LMAC exhibited a superior OS compared to those with LNMAC in stage IA2 (P < 0.0001), IA3 (P < 0.0001), IB (P = 0.0062), IIA (P = 0.0090), IIB (P = 0.0005). In contrast, a worse OS in stage IVA (P = 0.0103) was found in LMAC patients. The novel classification system proposed for LMAC proved to be highly applicable and demonstrated substantial efficacy, as confirmed by the verification group. CONCLUSION: The newly established classification system was more effective for LMAC, but it necessitates large-scale verification to confirm its applicability and reliability.

Herein we report a photoredox/nickel-catalyzed cross-coupling of aryl bromides with 1,1,1,3,3,3-hexafluoroisopropanol for the construction of hexafluoroisopropyl aryl ethers. The mild reaction conditions employed allow for the applicability of a wide range of aryl and heteroaryl bromides. Late-stage functionalization and preliminary mechanistic studies have been demonstrated.

Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) remains the leading cause of cancer-related deaths. With the development of screening, patient selection and treatment strategies, patients' survival outcomes and living quality significantly improved. However, some patients still have local recurrence or residual tumors after receiving definitive therapies. Salvage surgery has been regarded as an effective option for recurrent or residual NSCLC, but its effectiveness remains undetermined. Furthermore, conversion surgery is a special type of salvage surgery for tumors converted from "initially unresectable" to "potentially resectable" status due to a favorable response to systemic treatments. Although conversion surgery is a promising curative procedure for advanced NSCLC, its concept and clinical value remain unfamiliar to clinicians. In this narrative review, we provided an overview of the safety and efficacy of salvage surgery, especially salvage surgery after sublobar resection in early-stage NSCLC. More importantly, we highlighted the concept and value of conversion surgery after systemic treatment in advanced NSCLC to gain some insights into its role in the treatment of lung cancer.

Cardiovascular disease remains the leading cause of mortality in women, yet it has not raised the awareness from the public. The pathogenesis of cardiovascular disease differs significantly between females and males concerning the effect of sex hormones. Estrogen and progestogen impact cardiovascular system through genomic and non-genomic effects. Before menopause, cardiovascular protective effects of estrogens have been well described. Progestogens were often used in combination with estrogens in hormone therapy. Fluctuations in sex hormone levels, particularly estrogen deficiency, were considered the specific risk factor in women's cardiovascular disease. However, considerable heterogeneity in the impact of hormone therapy was observed in clinical trials. The heterogeneity is likely closely associated with factors such as the initial time, administration route, dosage, and formulation of hormone therapy. This review will delve into the pathogenesis and hormone therapy, summarizing the effect of female sex hormones on hypertension, pre-eclampsia, coronary heart disease, heart failure with preserved ejection fraction, and cardiovascular risk factors specific to women.

BACKGROUND: The association of different body components, including lean mass and body fat, with the risk of death in acute coronary syndrome (ACS) patients are unclear. METHODS: We enrolled adults diagnosed with ACS at our center between January 2011 and December 2012 and obtained follow-up outcomes via telephone questionnaires. We used restricted cubic splines (RCS) with the Cox proportional hazards model to analyze the associations between body mass index (BMI), predicted lean mass index (LMI), predicted body fat percentage (BF), and the value of LMI/BF with 10-year mortality. We also examined the secondary outcome of death during hospitalization. RESULTS: During the maximum 10-year follow-up of 1398 patients, 331 deaths (23.6%) occurred, and a U-shaped relationship was found between BMI and death risk (P nonlinearity = 0.03). After adjusting for age and history of diabetes, the overweight group (24 ≤ BMI < 28 kg/m2) had the lowest mortality (HR = 0.53, 95% CI: 0.29-0.99). Predicted LMI and LMI/BF had an inverse linear relationship with a 10-year death risk (P nonlinearity = 0.24 and P nonlinearity = 0.38, respectively), while an increase in BF was associated with increased mortality (P nonlinearity = 0.64). During hospitalization, 31 deaths (2.2%) were recorded, and the associations of the indicators with in-hospital mortality were consistent with the long-term outcome analyses. CONCLUSION: Our study provides new insight into the "obesity paradox" in ACS patients, highlighting the importance of considering body composition heterogeneity. Predicted LMI and BF may serve as useful tools for assessing nutritional status and predicting the prognosis of ACS, based on their linear associations with all-cause mortality.

With the continuous development of identification technologies such as mass spectrometry,omics,and antibody technology,post-translational modification (PTM) has demonstrated increasing potential in medical research.PTM as a novel chemical modification method provides new perspectives for the research on diseases.Succinylation as a novel modification has aroused the interest of more and more researchers.The available studies about succinylation mainly focus on a desuccinylase named sirtuin 5.This enzyme plays a key role in modification and has been preliminarily explored in cardiovascular studies.This paper summarizes the influencing factors and regulatory roles of succinylation and the links between succinylation and other PTMs and reviews the research progress of PTMs in the cardiovascular field,aiming to deepen the understanding about the role of this modification and give new insights to the research in this field.

Background: The genus of Polypedates Tschudi, 1838 currently comprises 25 recognised species with four of these species reported in Yunnan, China. Dubois (1987) speculated the distribution of P.teraiensis in China; however, there was no study carried out to confirm its distribution in the region. New information: We herein describe P.teraiensis as a new national record, based on a specimen collected from Yunnan border region. Phylogenetically, our sequence clustered with the sequences of recognised P.teraiensis specimens from Bangladesh, Myanmar and India. The uncorrected pairwise distances between the specimens from China and other P.teraiensis localities was small, ranging from 0.0-0.7%, based on 16S rRNA gene. Therefore, we report P.teraiensis as a new species record for China.

Wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) is the predominant grain crop and plays a pivotal role in grain production in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region (XUAR), China. Its cultivated area constitutes approximately half of the total sown area of grain crops in XUAR, with 1.14 million hectares in 2021. Fusarium crown rot (FCR) of wheat, caused by Fusarium culmorum (W.G. Smith) Sacc., is one of the most devastating soil-borne diseases known to seriously reduce grain yield (Ma et al. 2024; Saad et al. 2023). In 2016, FCR of wheat, caused by F. culmorum, was firstly identified in Henan Province, China (Li et al. 2016). In June 2023, during the investigation of FCR of wheat in Aksu Prefecture, XUAR, FCR on winter wheat (cv. Xindong 20) was found (82.761349°E, 41.612202°N). The grain-filling period for winter wheat in early June coincided with a period of high temperatures and water demand in Aksu Prefecture. Approximately 8% of the Xindong 20 wheat plants exhibited symptoms of white heads and browning at the stem base, with the disease present in 82% of the wheat fields surveyed. To identify the pathogens, 20 samples of diseased stem basal tissue, each 0.5 cm in length, were collected and sterilized with 75% alcohol for 30s and 5% NaOCl solution for 2 min, followed by three rinses with sterile water. These samples were then plated onto potato dextrose agar (PDA) medium at 25°C for 5 days. A total of 17 isolates with consistent morphological characteristics were obtained using single-spore technique, with an isolation rate of 85%. The isolated strains exhibited rapid growth on PDA, producing fluffy, pale-yellow hyphae, and accumulating a pale-yellow to dark red pigment on the bottom of the medium. On carnation leaf agar (CLA), these strains formed orange colonies due to the aggregation of a large number of macroconidia. The macroconidia were short and thick, with three to four septa and rounded apical cell, averaging 31.94 to 40.96 × 5.62 to 6.71 µm (Magnification of ×400). Microconidia were not observed. These morphological characters were consistent with those of F. culmorum (Leslie and Summerell. 2006). Two isolates (D-9 and D-11) were selected for molecular identification. The EF-1α gene fragment was amplified using primers EF1/EF2 (5'-ATGGGTAAGGARGACAAGAC-3'/5'-GGARGTACCAGTSATCATG-3') as previously described by O'Donnell et al. (1998). The two 665 bp PCR products were sequenced and submitted to GenBank (GenBank Accession No: PP763247 and PP763248) with 99. 7% identity to the published F. culmorum sequences (e.g., OP985478, OP985477, MG195126, KX702638). The molecular identification was further confirmed by F. culmorum species-specific PCR primers FcOIF/FcOIR (Nicholson et al. 1998). The expected PCR products of 553 bp were produced only in F. culmorum. Strains D-9 and D-11 were used to conduct the pathogenicity experiment on 7-day-old winter wheat (cv. Xindong 20) using drip in the lower stem inoculation method with a 10-µl of 106 macroconidia ml-1 suspension, and the control 7-day-old winter wheat were treated with sterile water (Xu et al. 2017). The experiments were replicated five times in a greenhouse at temperatures ranging from 20℃ to 25℃. After 4 weeks, all inoculated wheat seedlings showed stem base browning or even death. No symptoms were observed on the control plants. The fungus was reisolated from all inoculated wheat plants by the method described above and identified by morphological and PCR amplification using F. culmorum species-specific primers FcOIF/FcOIR. No F. culmorum was isolated from the control wheat plants, fulfilling Koch's postulates. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report of F.culmorum causing FCR on winter wheat in XUAR, China. BACKGROUND: Intrauterine adhesions (IUA) are a challenging clinical problem in reproductive infertility. The most common causes are intrauterine surgery and abortions. We aimed to investigate whether early second-look office hysteroscopy can prevent IUA. METHODS: A single-center, prospective, two-armed, randomized controlled trial was designed to explore the efficacy of early office hysteroscopy after first-trimester induced abortion (suction dilatation and curettage [D&C]) and to further analyze fertility outcomes. Women aged 20-45 years undergoing suction D&C and desiring to conceive were recruited. Between October 2019 and September 2022, 66 women were enrolled, of whom 33 were allocated to group A (early hysteroscopy intervention). The women in intervention group A were planned to receive 2 times of hysteroscopies (early and late). In group B, women only underwent late (6 months post suction D&C) hysteroscopy. RESULTS: The primary outcome was the IUA rate assessed using office hysteroscopy 6 months after artificial abortion. Secondary outcomes included menstrual amount/durations and fertility outcomes. In intervention group A, 31 women underwent the first hysteroscopy examination, and 15 completed the second. In group B (late hysteroscopy intervention, 33 patients), 16 completed the hysteroscopic exam 6 months after an artificial abortion. Twenty-one women did not receive late hysteroscopy due to pregnancy. The IUA rate was 16.1% (5/31) at the first hysteroscopy in group A, and no IUA was detected during late hysteroscopy. Neither group showed statistically significant differences in the follow-up pregnancy and live birth rates. CONCLUSIONS: Early hysteroscopy following suction D&C can detect intrauterine lesions. IUA detected early by hysteroscopy can disappear on late examination and become insignificant for future pregnancies. Notably, the pregnancy outcomes showed a favorable trend in the early hysteroscopy group, but there were no statistically significant differences. The Cosmic Gems arc is among the brightest and highly magnified galaxies observed at redshift z ≈ 10.2 (ref. 1). However, it is an intrinsically ultraviolet faint galaxy, in the range of those now thought to drive the reionization of the Universe2-4. Hitherto the smallest features resolved in a galaxy at a comparable redshift are between a few hundreds and a few tens of parsecs (pc)5,6. Here we report JWST observations of the Cosmic Gems. The light of the galaxy is resolved into five star clusters located in a region smaller than 70 pc. They exhibit minimal dust attenuation and low metallicity, ages younger than 50 Myr and intrinsic masses of about 106M⊙. Their lensing-corrected sizes are approximately 1 pc, resulting in stellar surface densities near 105M⊙ pc-2, three orders of magnitude higher than typical young star clusters in the local Universe7. Despite the uncertainties inherent to the lensing model, they are consistent with being gravitationally bound stellar systems, that is, proto-globular clusters. We conclude that star cluster formation and feedback likely contributed to shaping the properties of galaxies during the epoch of reionization.

BACKGROUND AND AIMS: Despite the benefits of artificial intelligence in small-bowel (SB) capsule endoscopy (CE) image reading, information on its application in the stomach and SB CE is lacking. METHODS: In this multicenter, retrospective diagnostic study, gastric imaging data were added to the deep learning-based SmartScan (SS), which has been described previously. A total of 1069 magnetically controlled GI CE examinations (comprising 2,672,542 gastric images) were used in the training phase for recognizing gastric pathologies, producing a new artificial intelligence algorithm named SS Plus. A total of 342 fully automated, magnetically controlled CE examinations were included in the validation phase. The performance of both senior and junior endoscopists with both the SS Plus-assisted reading (SSP-AR) and conventional reading (CR) modes was assessed. RESULTS: SS Plus was designed to recognize 5 types of gastric lesions and 17 types of SB lesions. SS Plus reduced the number of CE images required for review to 873.90 (median, 1000; interquartile range [IQR], 814.50-1000) versus 44,322.73 (median, 42,393; IQR, 31,722.75-54,971.25) for CR. Furthermore, with SSP-AR, endoscopists took 9.54 minutes (median, 8.51; IQR, 6.05-13.13) to complete the CE video reading. In the 342 CE videos, SS Plus identified 411 gastric and 422 SB lesions, whereas 400 gastric and 368 intestinal lesions were detected with CR. Moreover, junior endoscopists remarkably improved their CE image reading ability with SSP-AR. CONCLUSIONS: Our study shows that the newly upgraded deep learning-based algorithm SS Plus can detect GI lesions and help improve the diagnostic performance of junior endoscopists in interpreting CE videos.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: Considering the pulse widths of picosecond and nanosecond lasers used in cutaneous laser surgery differ by approximately one order of magnitude, can nanosecond lasers produce the optical effect in human skin similar to laser-induced optical breakdown (LIOB) caused by picosecond lasers? METHODS: Cutaneous changes induced by a focused fractional nanosecond 1064-nm Nd:YAG laser were evaluated by VISIA-CR imaging, histological examination, and harmonic generation microscopy (HGM). RESULTS: A focused fractional nanosecond 1064-nm Nd:YAG laser can generate epidermal vacuoles or dermal cavities similar to the phenomenon of LIOB produced by picosecond lasers. The location and extent of photodisruption can be controlled by the laser fluence and focus depth. Moreover, laser-induced shock wave propagation and thermal degeneration of papillary collagen can be observed by HGM imaging. CONCLUSION: Focused fractional nanosecond lasers can produce an optical effect on human skin similar to LIOB caused by picosecond lasers. With techniques of application, the treatment can induce epidermal and dermal repair mechanisms in a tunable fashion to improve skin texture, wrinkles, scars, and dyspigmentation, without disrupting the epidermal surface.
