RESUMO

The imago stage of Echinococcus multilocularis development (prior to maturation of parasite oocysts) has been described in the intestine of golden hamsters infected by parenteral penetration of an Alveococcus agent and given hydrocortisone subcutaneously for 3 days before the infection and on the day of the infection, mean total drug dose being about 250 mg/kg. The number of helminths developed on days 8-35 of postinvasion ranged from 432 to 1863, their length was 1.0 to 4.0 mm and the number of segments did not exceed 2. Oocyst maturation was noted on day 20 of postinvasion. High oocyst invasiveness was confirmed by a biological test on 32 cotton rats aged 1-1.5 months who were administered parenterally 2-3 helminths containing 86 to 284 oocysts. All the rats died of severe hepatic alveococcosis on days 24-43 of postinfection.

RESUMO

The current state of immunodiagnostic and immunopreventive trends in parasitology and prospects for their development are analysed. The prospects of immunodiagnosis seem to be in increased sensitivity and specificity of tests by improving the methods and using the achievements of biotechnology in the manufacturing of high quality antigenic and antibody reagents. The development of immunoprevention of parasitoses can be stimulated by further studies of the mechanisms of a protective immune response, ways of its enhancement, search for natural and design of synthetic protective antigens and elaboration of new methods of their biological transport. The importance of the studies of local immunity phenomena is stressed for the development of new effective methods of immunodiagnosis and immunoprevention of socially valuable human parasitoses.

RESUMO

High molecular fractions were obtained by gradual membrane diafiltration and their antigenic and enzymatic (carboxylesterase) activity were analyzed. Degree of the fractions' homogeneity was determined by high performance liquid chromatography. Active antigenic complexes were discovered in fractions with m. m. over 300.000 and 100.000 = 300.000.

RESUMO

Protein content, antigenic activity, presence of enzymatic (carboxylesterase) activity and fractional content were determined by high performance liquid chromatography in 6 samples of echinococcal fluid from cysts isolated from sheep, cattle and pigs. Significant differences between the contents of above-mentioned characteristics in various echinococcal fluid samples were observed. The highest content of diagnostically valuable components was revealed in cysts isolated from sheeps' liver. Authors come to the conclusion on the necessity of choosing criteria of assessment of echinococcal fluid samples' fitness for echinococcosis diagnosis.
