RESUMO

The investigation of 55 patients with chronic adrenocortical insufficiency has shown an increase in the intensity of lipid peroxidation against a background of blood plasma alpha-tocopherol (the main endogenous antioxidant) concentration. The use of vitamin E in multimodality treatment together with substitution hormone therapy resulted in the normalization of indices of lipid peroxidation and antioxidant system necessitating the incorporation of the drug in therapeutic measures in chronic adrenocortical insufficiency.

RESUMO

A study was made of the state of microcirculation and oxygen balance of tissues in 51 patients with chronic adrenocortical insufficiency with various degrees of severity of disease during decompensation and compensation. Methods of biomicroscopy of the eye conjunctival vessels using a photoslit tube and polarography on the LP-7 apparatus were employed. Considerable disorders of microcirculation and tissue oxygen balance in patients with Addison's disease depending on a degree of severity of disease indicated a great role of the adrenocortical hormones in maintaining homeostatic stability and body vital activity.

RESUMO

A study was made of CVS function in 48 patients with Addison's disease by submaximum bicycle ergometry to specify and improve the existing criteria of assessment of a degree of gravity of disease and the working capacity of patients before and after hormonal substitution therapy. According to the results of bicycle ergometry, the working capacity of these patients was lowered, the total volume of work done, loading power, and maximum oxygen consumption were also lowered. The data obtained can be used for assessment of therapeutic efficacy and in medical labor examination to determine the working capacity of patients with hypocorticism.

RESUMO

Hepatic and gall bladder bile of healthy persons (8) and of patients with severe form of diabetes mellitus (17) was studied. Paer chromatography was applied for determination of cholic, chenodeoxycholic, deoxycholic bile acids and their conjugates with glycin and taurine. An absolute content and percentage of glycodeoxycholic and glycochenodeoxycholic bile acids were increased, and glycochenodeoxycholic acid content and taurates proportion were decreased in the gall bladder and hepatic bile of diabetic patients. The data obtained pointed to disturbed hepatic function in severe diabetes mellitus; it was expressed in suppression of bile acids synthesis and conjugation, and also in depression of transformation of deoxycholic into cholic acid.
