RESUMO

High harmonic generation (HHG) from gases and solids has been studied extensively. Whereas for liquids, it is far more challenging to understand the ultrafast dynamics with conventional methods. From a statistical perspective, we investigate the liquid-phase HHG theoretically by using a disordered linear chain. Our results reveal that (i) the harmonic spectra are characterized by a transition energy that separates the spectra into a low-energy region containing only odd harmonics and a high-energy region containing both even and odd harmonics with low yields; (ii) the transition energy depends on the fluctuation of structure and the field strength, but independent of the laser wavelength; (iii) the occurrence of dephasing is a natural result of the electron dynamics modulated by the long-range disorder. Furthermore, a simple formula is proposed to identify the transition energy, from which we correctly reproduce the experimental cutoff energies of HHG from liquid ethanol. Our results pave the way to better understand and control the HHG in liquids as another compact HHG source.

RESUMO

In this paper, cotton seed oil deodorizer distillate (CSODD), was recovered to obtain fatty acid sterol ester (FASE), which is one of the biological activated substances added as human therapeutic to lower cholesterol. Esterification reactions were carried out using Candida rugosa lipase as a catalyst, and the conversion of phytosterol was optimized using response surface methodology. The highest conversion (90.8 ± 0.4%) was reached at 0.84 wt% enzyme load, 1:25 solvent/CSODD mass ratio, and 44.2 °C after 12 H reaction. A kinetic model based on the reaction rate equation was developed to describe the reaction process. The activation energy of the reaction was calculated to be 56.9 kJ/mol and the derived kinetic parameters provided indispensable basics for further study. The optimization and kinetic research of synthesizing FASE from deodorizer distillate provided necessary information for the industrial applications in the near future. Experimental results showed that the proposed process is a promising alternative to recycle sterol esters from vegetable oil deodorizer distillates in a mild, efficient, and environmental friendly method.

RESUMO

This paper introduces a novel process for recovery and refining of L-lactic acid from a fermentation broth. The use of a solvent extraction step, in the novel approach, has significant impacts on the following centrifugal short-path distillation conditions (operating pressure, evaporator temperature and feed flow rate). As the conditions were varied, the l-lactic acid purity and yield in the distillate were monitored. For the purpose of comparison, a series of experiments were also carried out using the existing purification process. The results showed that both of the two processes can obtain l-lactic acid with a high purity around 91.3%, while the yield obtained using the novel process reached 61.73%, which was about 20.43% higher than that using the existing process. Additionally, multiple-pass distillation observed special attention by improving the yield up to 74.63%.
