RESUMO

Ginsenoside Rg_3, an active component of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM), was used as the substitute for cholesterol as the membrane material to prepare the ginsenoside Rg_3-based liposomes loaded with dihydroartemisinin and paclitaxel. The effect of the prepared drug-loading liposomes on triple-negative breast cancer in vitro was evaluated. Liposomes were prepared with the thin film hydration method, and the preparation process was optimized by single factor experiments. The physicochemical properties(e.g., particle size, Zeta potential, and stability) of the liposomes were characterized. The release behaviors of drugs in different media(pH 5.0 and pH 7.4) were evaluated. The antitumor activities of the liposomes were determined by CCK-8 on MDA-MB-231 and 4T1 cells. The cell scratch test was carried out to evaluate the effect of the liposomes on the migration of MDA-MB-231 and 4T1 cells. Further, the targeting ability of liposomes and the mechanism of lysosome escape were investigated. Finally, H9c2 cells were used to evaluate the potential cardiotoxicity of the preparation. The liposomes prepared were spheroid, with uniform particle size distribution, the ave-rage particle size of(107.81±0.01) nm, and the Zeta potential of(2.78±0.66) mV. The encapsulation efficiency of dihydroartemisinin and paclitaxel was 57.76%±1.38% and 99.66%±0.07%, respectively, and the total drug loading was 4.46%±0.71%. The accumulated release of dihydroartemisinin and paclitaxel from the liposomes at pH 5.0 was better than that at pH 7.4, and the liposomes could be stored at low temperature for seven days with good stability. Twenty-four hours after administration, the inhibition rates of the ginsenoside Rg_3-based liposomes loaded with dihydroartemisinin(70 µmol·L~(-1)) and paclitaxel on MDA-MB-231 and 4T1 cells were higher than those of the positive control(adriamycin) and free drugs(P<0.01). Compared with free drugs, liposomes inhibited the migration of MDA-MB-231 and 4T1 cells(P<0.05). Liposomes demonstrated active targeting and lysosome escape. In particular, liposomes showed lower toxicity to H9c2 cells than free drugs(P<0.05), which indicated that the preparation had the potential to reduce cardiotoxicity. The findings prove that ginsenoside Rg_3 characterized by the combination of drug and excipient is an ideal substitute for lipids in liposomes and promoted the development of innovative TCM drugs for treating cancer.

BACKGROUND: Acute appendicitis in children refers to the acute inflammation of the appendix, which accounts for 20% ∼ 30% of cases of acute abdomen in pediatric surgery. OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to establish a decision tree model of complicated appendicitis in children using appendiceal ultrasound combined with an inflammatory index and evaluated its clinical efficacy in pediatric patients. METHODS: A total of 395 children admitted to the Emergency Department of the Shanghai Children's Hospital from January 2018 to December 2021 and diagnosed with appendicitis by postoperative pathology were retrospectively analyzed. According to the postoperative pathology, the children were divided into a complicated and non-complicated appendicitis group, respectively. Routine laboratory inflammatory indicators, including white blood cell count, N(%), neutrophil (Neu) count, Neu/lymphocyte ratio (NLR), C-reactive protein (CRP), and procalcitonin were collected from the two groups. Collecting data on ultrasound examination of the appendix includes whether the appendix diameter is thickened, whether the echogenicity of the mesenteric rim surrounding the appendix is enhanced, whether there is rich blood supply in the appendix, and whether there are fecaliths in the appendix lumen. The risk factors for complicated appendicitis were screened out by univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses, the binary logistic regression prediction and decision tree models were established, respectively, and the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve was used to verify the accuracy of the two prediction models. RESULTS: Binary logistic regression analysis showed that CRP, NLR, the presence of an appendicolith, and peripheral retina echo enhancement were independent risk factors for complicated appendicitis in children (P< 0.05). The decision tree model had an overall accuracy of 79%, an area under the ROC curve (AUC) of 0.809 (95% confidence interval [CI] 0.780-0.865), and sensitivity and specificity of 71.3% and 77.7%, respectively. The logistic regression model had an overall accuracy of 74.9%, an AUC value of 0.823 (95% CI, 0.765-0.853), a sensitivity value of 80.3%, and a specificity of 71.8%. CONCLUSION: This predictive model, based on ultrasound of the appendix combined with inflammatory markers, provides a useful method to assist pediatric emergency physicians in diagnosing childhood appendicitis. The decision tree model reflected the interaction of various indexes, and the model was simple, intuitive, and effective.

Herein, we demonstrated the unique advantage of a mechanochemical reaction to prepare a salt with hard and soft acid and base ions concurrently by solution synthesis owing to the soft acid preferring to combine with the soft base and vice versa. We prepared Bu4N1-xLixMnxPb1-xI3 (x = 0.011-0.14) by mechanochemical synthesis. The doping induced a structural phase transition at ∼342 K and much enhancement of ionic conduction above 342 K for all co-doped hybrids regarding Bu4NPbI3 because of the voids around the Mn2+/Li+ ions by doping.

RESUMO

With rapid urbanization, the increasing building stock, building operation energy consumption and the corresponding carbon emissions have become the important factors restricting the sustainable development of cities. To reduce energy consuming, it is necessary to explore the mechanisms underlying building's operational energy consumption and carbon emission. Although previous studies have analyzed the influencing factors and driving mechanism of urban building carbon emission from different perspectives, a systematical review of the relevant studies which could provide comprehensive guidance for building energy conservation and consumption reduction is fairly scarce. Following the Social-Economic-Natural Complex Ecosystem theory, we comprehensively discussed the driving mechanisms of the building's operational energy consumption and carbon emission. We further analyzed the various single-source driving mechanisms from the perspective of socio-economic, building feature, regional climate and microclimate conditions. Finally, we tackled the weaknesses of current researches and addressed the prospect for future development. The driving mechanism summarized in this work would contribute to the development of related research and support low carbon city construction.

PURPOSE: In this paper, based on the age, sex, disease type, and consultation time of dental emergency during COVID-19 epidemic, a comprehensive analysis of dental emergency management and prevention and control of COVID-19 was conducted. METHODS: A total of 739 emergency dental cases were collected from January 29 2020 to February 28 2020. They were divided into 3 groups,including adolescents (≤18 years), young adults (18 ~ 60 years), and elderly ( ≥60 years old). The data was analyzed using SPSS 21.0 software package. RESULTS: The ratio of male to female was 1.24∶1. There were 655 emergency cases during the day and 84 cases during the night. The types of diseases included pericoronitis (15.83%), apical periodontitis (14.21%), pulpitis (13.40%), periodontitis (12.31%), oral mucosal disease (12.18%), Oral and maxillofacial trauma (10.55%), oral and maxillofacial space infection (8.39%), dental disease in children (5.41%), oral and maxillofacial tumors (2.84%), temporomandibular joint dislocations and disorders (1.76%), and others (3.11%). CONCLUSIONS: Under the epidemic situation of the new coronavirus, as one of the high-risk departments, it is of great significance to enhance the clinical emergency skills and ability of emergency treatment, improve patients' oral health awareness, address the diagnosis and treatment of essential diseases, for the improvement the quality of dental medical care and the prevention and control of COVID-19 epidemic.

The zero/negative thermal expansion (ZTE/NTE), which is an intriguing physical property of solids, has been observed in a few families of materials. ZTE materials possess practical applications in specific circumstances such as space-related applications, engineering structures and precision instrument. Generally, NTE materials are used as additives to form a composite of the ZTE material with positive thermal expansion material. It is still a tremendous challenge to design new families of ZTE/NTE materials. Herein, we presented a temperature-dependent single crystal structure analysis in 110-300 K for a layered (NH4)2V3O8, which crystallizes in a tetragonal space group P4bm and comprises mixed valence [V3O82-]∞ monolayers and NH4+ residual in the interlayer spaces. Along the c-axis, (NH4)2V3O8 demonstrated uniaxial expansion behaviors, i.e., ZTE with αc = -1.10 × 10-6 K-1 in 110-170 K and NTE with αc = -16.25 × 10-6 K-1 in 170-220 K. Along the a-axis, (NH4)2V3O8 exhibited ZTE with αa = + 2.06 × 10-6 K-1 in 240-300 K. The mechanisms of ZTE and NTE were explored using structural analysis. The conduction of NH4+ ions in the interlayer space was studied, indicating that the conductivity rapidly rises with the expansion of interlayer space at temperatures of >293 K. This study discloses that layered vanadates are promising ZTE/NTE materials.

As a class of anionic oxoclusters of early transition metals in their highest oxidation states, polyoxometalates (POMs) show considerable structural versatility and unique chemical and physical properties, making them promising multifunctional materials. In this study, a Keggin-type POM has been achieved, with a formula of [(H2O)0.3@K6(H2O)12]H4.45[PV7.45Mo4.55O40]·11H2O (1), and its microcrystals and nanocrystals have been obtained, respectively. This POM was characterized by elemental analysis for C, H and N, ICP-MS, TG, PXRD, SEM, X-band EPR and XPS techniques. Single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis demonstrated that 1 shows a rare extended structure with a high-connected three-dimensional (3D) all inorganic network of a Keggin-type POM, built from {Mo4.55V7.45PO40}10.45- polyoxoanions and {(H2O)0.3@K6(H2O)12}6+ clusters with CsCl-type crystal structure. In addition, to the best of our knowledge, 1 shows the highest ratio of vanadium to molybdenum among Keggin-type POMs reported thus far. Most interestingly, 1 exhibits intrinsic proton conduction below the freezing point of water, with a proton conductivity of 6.90 × 10-7 S cm-1 at 249 K and further reaching 3.36 × 10-6 S cm-1 at 272 K and Ea = 0.44 eV at 249-272 K.

The purpose of this study was to test the hypothesis that the incidence of crochetage on the R wave in inferior limb leads can be used for the diagnosis of pediatric secundum atrial septal defect (ASD). Two hundred fifty-six children with secundum ASD (case cohort) and 256 age- and gender-matched children without heart disease (control cohort) were included in the study. Statistical analyses were performed to test the relationship between the ASD and the crochetage on the R wave with a single lead and three leads, respectively. The impact of incomplete right bundle branch block (IRBBB) and ASD diameter (≥ 5 and < 5 mm) on ASD diagnosis were also explored. Crochetage on the R wave was observed in all three inferior limb leads on 28.13% (72/256, 28 with IRBBB) of subjects with secundum ASD, while it was seen in only 2.73% (7/256, one with IRBBB) of control subjects (P < 0.001). Subgroup analysis showed that the incidence of R wave crochetage correlated with ASD size in both the single inferior limb lead (26.14%, 23/88 on ASD ≥ 5 mm vs. 10.71%, 18/168 on ASD < 5 mm; P = 0.001) and all three inferior limb leads (44.32%, 39/88 on ASD ≥ 5 mm vs. 19.64%, 33/168 on ASD < 5 mm; P < 0.001). Our findings suggest that crochetage on the R wave in inferior limb leads can serve as an independent marker for ASD diagnosis.

PURPOSE: To explore the application and effect of enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) in early rehabilitation of oral cancer patients after operation. METHODS: Ninety cases of oral cancer admitted from January 2016 to December 2017 were randomly divided into two groups. 45 cases of oral cancer in the experimental group received ERAS nursing after operation, and another 45 patients received routine nursing after operation. The sleep duration, pain and halitosis 3 days after operation; the first time to get out of bed, the length of hospitalization; and the level of albumin and other laboratory indicators 1 and 3 days after operation were observed. SPSS 17.0 software package was used for statistical analysis. RESULTS: After 1 day and 3 day of ERAS intervention, the nutritional index of the experimental group was lower than that of the control group. The time of first ambulation and the length of hospitalization were shorter than those of the control group. The average sleep time 3 days after operation was longer than that of the control group. The incidence of halitosis, wound infection and moderate pain was lower than that of the control group. The difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). CONCLUSIONS: ERAS nursing after oral cancer surgery can improve the comfort of patients, enhance the clinical outcome, promote rapid recovery of patients, with good clinical application prospects.

PURPOSE: To summarize the feasibility and advantages of C-shaped small incision for the treatment of benign lower posterior tumor of the parotid gland. METHODS: Forty-eight cases of benign lower posterior tumor of the parotid gland were treated with C-shaped small incision. The treatment outcomes were recorded and analyzed. RESULTS: The wound healed primarily in all 48 cases. The follow-up period was 1-5 years, and there was no recurrence of tumor and the shape of parotid region recovered well. The residual parotid tissue had certain secretory functions postoperatively. CONCLUSIONS: C-shaped small incision is an effective way of surgical treatment for lower posterior benign tumor of the parotid gland, which can reduce surgical trauma, shorten operation time, reduce facial scars, facial nerve injury, reduce tumor recurrence rate and preserve the function of the remaining parotid tissues.

The expansion of built-up area will cause stress effect on the regional natural ecological security pattern during urbanization process. Taking rapid expanding regions of four inland and coastal cities as study areas, including Tongzhou in Beijing, Zhengding in Hebei, Tanggu in Tianjin and Xiamen in Fujian, we constructed regional landscape stress indexes according to the principle of landscape ecology and comparatively analyzed the landscape pattern characteristics of rapid expanding regions and the differences of stress effect of artificial landscapes on four natural landscapes ecological security pattern in the process of rapid urbanization. Results showed that landscape erosion indexes of Tongzhou, Zhengding, Tanggu and Xiamen in 2015 were 1.039, 0.996, 1.239 and 0.945, respectively, which indicated that the natural landscapes were eroded significantly. Natural landscape types of those four regions presented different threatened levels. Among all natural landscape types, unused land and waters were worst threatened in Tongzhou, Zhengding and Tanggu, while in Xiamen cultivated land and waters showed the highest threat levels. The waters threat indexes of those four areas were all more than 0.743. Landscape isolation indexes of waters and unused land of the inland cities were greater than those of coastal cities, which meant water distribution of inland cities in the space was less gathered than that of coastal cities. Besides, compared with the other natural landscape, unused land and waters suffered the largest stress from artificial landscapes.

With solution culture, this paper studied the effects of silicon (Si) on the plant growth, Si content, photosynthetic rate, and transpiration rate of ginger (Zingiber officinale Rosc. ) cultivar, Laiwu big ginger. The results indicated that the biomass per plant and the leaf Si content were increased dramatically with increasing Si level in culture solution. In treatments T1 (1.0 mmol Si x L(-1)), T2 (1.5 mmol Si x L(-1)), and T3 (2.0 mmol Si x L(-1), the leaf Si content was increased 604.4%, 834.8%, and 1130.4%, and the biomass per plant was increased by 9.4%, 19.4%, and 22.8%, respectively, compared with the control. With increasing Si level, the leaf Mg2+ -AT-Pase and Ca2+ -ATPase activities, photosynthetic rate (Pn), and water use efficiency (WUE) increased, while the transpiration rate (Tr) decreased. At 11:00 o'clock, the Pn in treatments T1, T2, and T3 increased by 11.2%, 21.8%, and 28.2%, WUE increased by 23.1%, 55.9% and 54.8%, while Tr, decreased by 6.3%, 17.1% and 19.2%, respectively, compared with the control. Si also improved the leaf light saturation point (LSP), carboxylation efficiency (CE), and carotenoid content significantly, but had less effect on chlorophyll content. In our study, the suitable Si concentration for ginger was 1.5-2.0 mmol x L(-1).
