RESUMO

Given the threat to human health posed by the abuse of tetracycline (TC), the development of a portable, on-site methods for highly sensitive and rapid TC detection is crucial. In this work, we initially synthesized europium-doped silicon nanoparticles (SiEuNPs) through a facile one-pot microwave-assisted method. Due to its blue-red dual fluorescence emission (465 nm/627 nm), which was respectively attributed to the silicon nanoparticles and Eu3+, SiEuNPs were designed as a ratiometric fluorescent sensor for TC detection. For the dual-signal reverse response mechanism: TC quenched the blue emission from silicon nanoparticles through inner filter effect (IFE), and enhanced the red emission through "antenna effect" (AE) between TC and Eu3+, the nanoprobe was able to detect TC within a range of 0.2-10 µM with a limit of detection (LOD) of 10.7 nM. Notably, the equilibrium detection time was only 1 min, achieving rapid TC detection. Furthermore, TC was also measured in real samples (tap water, milk and honey) with recoveries ranging from 95.7 % to 117.0 %. More importantly, a portable smartphone-assisted on-site detection platform was developed, enabling real-time qualitative identification and semi-quantitative analysis of TC based on fluorescence color changes. This work not only provided a novel doped silicon nanoparticles strategy, but also constructed a ratiometric sensing platform with dual-signal reverse response for intuitive and real-time TC detection.

RESUMO

In this work, we used a simple ultrasonic stripping method to synthesize a bimetal MOFs at room temperature as a nanoenzyme with peroxidase-like (POD-like) activity. Through bimetal MOFs catalytic Fenton-like competitive reaction, thiamphenicol can be quantitatively dual-mode detected by fluorescence and colorimetry. It realized the sensitive detection of thiamphenicol in water, and the limits of detection (LOD) were 0.030 nM and 0.031 nM, and the liner ranges were 0.1-150 nM and 0.1-100 nM, respectively. The methods were applied to river water, lake water and tap water samples, and with satisfactory recoveries between 97.67% and 105.54%.

RESUMO

AIM: To compare the clinical outcomes of wavefront guided femtosecond LASIK (WFG LASIK) and conventional femtosecond LASIK (NWFG LASIK) in eyes with myopia and myopia astigmatism. METHODS: This was a retrospective, nonrandomized, comparative investigation enrolling 236 eyes of 122 patients (18-50y) with low & moderate and high myopia. The WFG group including 97 eyes (50 patients) undergone WFG LASIK and the NWFG group including 139 eyes (72 patients) undergone conventional LASIK. Mean efficacy index, high order aberrations (HOAs), pupil size and the quality of visual questionnaire were evaluated 6mo postoperatively. RESULTS: There is no difference between WFG group (-0.054±0.049 in logMAR) and NWFG group (-0.040±0.056) in uncorrected distance visual acuity (UDVA) postoperatively. The myopia astigmatism is higher in WFG group than that in NWFG group (P<0.05). However, the mean efficacy index (MEI) in the WFG group (1.09±0.106) is better than that in the NWFG group (1.036±0.124; P<0.001). Increased HOAs were observed in NWFG group (0.30±0.196) than that in WFG group (0.146±0.188; P<0.001). The pupil size is larger in WFG group (5.15±0.76 mm) than that in NWFG group (4.32±0.52 mm). The patients are satisfied with the clinical surgery, yet WFG group showed better visual quality using the questionnaire survey. Meanwhile, high myopia would result in worse MEI, HOAs and visual quality than low & moderate myopia. CONCLUSION: WFG and NWFG FS-LASIK are both effective and safe procedures to correct low & moderate and high myopia, but WFG FS-LASIK gives a better postoperative MEI, aberrometric control and predictable outcome. Meanwhile, WFG FS-LASIK is better than NWFG FS-LASIK in correction of myopia astigmatism. Low & moderate myopia allow better clinical outcomes than high myopia using any surgical method.

RESUMO

A field growing/non-growing season asymmetric warming experiment (C: control, i.e., no warming in the entire year; GLNG: growing season warming lower than non-growing season warming; GHNG: growing season warming higher than non-growing season warming) was conducted in an alpine meadow of the Northern Tibetan Plateau in early June 2015. The effects of growing/non-growing season asymmetric warming on the normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI), soil adjusted vegetation index (SAVI), aboveground biomass (AGB) and gross primary production (GPP) in 2015-2017 were examined. The 'GLNG' and 'GHNG' treatments significantly increased the annual mean air temperature (Ta) by 2.95 °C and 2.76 °C, and the vapor pressure deficit (VPD) by 0.23 kPa and 0.28 kPa but significantly reduced the annual mean soil moisture (SM) by 0.02 m3 m-3 and 0.02 m3 m-3 respectively; however, changes in the annual mean Ta, VPD and SM were the same between the 'GLNG' and 'GHNG' treatments over the three years in 2015-2017. There were no significant differences in the SAVI and GPP among the 'C', 'GLNG' and 'GHNG' treatments over the three growing seasons in 2015-2017. The 'GLNG' and 'GHNG' treatments did not significantly affect the NDVI and AGB compared to 'C', whereas the NDVI and AGB under the 'GLNG' treatment were significantly greater than those under the 'GHNG' treatment over the three growing seasons in 2015-2017. The significant differences in NDVI and AGB between the 'GLNG' and 'GHNG' treatments may be attributed to the different effects under the 'GLNG' and 'GHNG' treatments on the non-growing season Ta, growing season water availability and soil nitrogen availability. Therefore, the non-growing season with a higher warming magnitude may have stronger effects on the aboveground plant production than did the growing season with a higher warming magnitude in the alpine meadow of the Northern Tibetan Plateau.

RESUMO

AIM: To investigate the effect of gold nanoparticles on retinal angiogenesis in vitro and in vivo, and to reveal the possible mechanism. METHODS: Seed growth method was used to synthesize gold nanoparticles (GNPs). The size, zeta potential, absorption spectrum and morphology of GNPs were identified using Malvern Nano-ZS, multimode reader (BioTek synergy2) and transmission electron microscope. Cell viability was analyzed using cell counting kit-8 method and cell growth was assessed with EdU kit. Transwell chamber was used to investigate cell migration. Tube formation method was used to assess the angiogenic property in vitro. Oxygen induced retinopathy (OIR) model was used to investigate the effect of GNPs on retinal angiogenesis. Confocal microscope and Western blot were used to study the possible mechanism of GNPs inhibited angiogenesis. RESULTS: The GNPs synthesized were uniform and well dispersed. GNPs of 10 µg/mL and 20 µg/mL were able to inhibit human umbilical vein endothelial cells proliferation (50% and 72% separately, P<0.001), migration (54% and 83% separately, P<0.001) and tube formation (52% and 90% separately, P<0.001). Further data showed that GNPs were able to improve the retinopathy in an OIR model. The possible mechanism might be that GNPs were able to induce autophagy significantly (P<0.05). CONCLUSION: The present study suggests that GNPs are able to inhibit retinal neovascularization in vitro and in vivo. GNPs might be a potential nanomedicine for the treatment of retinal angiogenesis.
