RESUMO

In order to optimize the application effect of induction heating (IH) tundishes, a four-channel IH tundish is taken as the research object. Based on numerical simulation methods, the influence of different relative placement angles of induction heaters and channels on the electromagnetic field, flow field and temperature field of the tundish is investigated. We focus on comparing the magnetic flux density (B) and electromagnetic force (EMF) distribution of the channel. The results show that regardless of the relative placement angle between the heater and the channel, the distribution of B in the central circular cross-section of the channel is eccentric. When the heater rotates around channel 1 towards the bottom of the tundish, the distribution of B in the central circular cross-section of the channel changes from a horizontal eccentricity to a vertical one. Through the analysis of the B contour in the longitudinal section of the channel, the difference in effective magnetic flux density area (ΔAB) between the upper and lower parts of the channel can be obtained, thereby quantitatively analyzing the distribution of B in this section. The distribution pattern of ΔAB is consistent with the distribution pattern of the electromagnetic force in the vertical direction (FZ) of the channel centerline. The ΔAB and FZ of channel 1 gradually increase as the heater rotates downwards, while those of channel 2 reach their maximum value at a rotation angle of 60°. Compared to the conventional placement, when the heater rotation angle is 60°, the outlet flow velocities at channel 1 and channel 2 decrease by 15% and 12%, respectively. However, the outlet temperature at channel 2 increases by 1.96 K, and the molten steel flow at the outlet of channel 1 and channel 2 no longer exhibits significant downward flow. This shows that when the heater rotation angle is 60°, it has a dual advantage. On the one hand, it is helpful to reduce the erosion of the molten steel on the channel and the bottom of the discharging chamber, and on the other hand, it can more effectively exert the heating effect of the induction heater on the molten steel in the channel. This presents a new approach to enhance the application effectiveness of IH tundish.

RESUMO

There is yet no scientific consensus, and for now, on how to choose the optimal interpolation method and its parameters for mapping soil-borne organic pollutants. Take the polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) for instance, we present the comparison of some classic interpolation methods using a high-resolution soil monitoring database. The results showed that empirical Bayesian kriging (EBK) has the highest accuracy for predicting the total PCB concentration, while root mean squared error (RMSE) in inverse distance weighting (IDW) is among the highest in these interpolation methods. The logarithmic transformation of non-normally distributed data contributed to enhance considerably the semivariogram for modeling in kriging interpolation. The increasing of search neighborhood reduced IDW's RMSE, but slightly affected in ordinary kriging (OK), while both of them resulted in over smooth of prediction map. The existence of outliers made the difference between two points increase sharply, and thereby weakening spatial autocorrelation and decreasing the accuracy. As predicted error increased continuously, the prediction accuracy of different interpolation methods reached unanimity gradually. The attempt of the assisted interpolation algorithm did not significantly improve the prediction accuracy of the IDW method. This study constructed a standardized workflow for interpolation, which could reduce human error to reach higher interpolation accuracy for mapping soil-borne PCBs.

RESUMO

To conduct a precise health risk assessment of heavy metals (HMs) in soil, it is imperative to ascertain the primary sources of potential health risks. In this study, we conducted comprehensive measurements of HMs, specifically focusing on the accumulation of Cu, Cd, Sb, Zn, and Pb in local soil, which may pose threats to environmental quality. To achieve our objective, we employed a method that combines positive matrix factorization with a health risk assessment model to quantify the health risks associated with specific sources. The results obtained from the geo-accumulation index indicate that the majority of HMs found in the local soil are influenced by anthropogenic activities. Among these sources, local industrial-related activities contributed the largest proportion of HMs to the soil at 34.7%, followed by natural sources at 28.7%, mining and metallurgy-related activities at 28.2%, and traffic-related activities at 8.40%. Although the non-carcinogenic and carcinogenic risks associated with individual HMs were found to be below safety thresholds, the cumulative health risks stemming from total HMs exceeded safety limits for children. Moreover, the unacceptable health risks for children originating from industrial-related activities, natural sources, and mining and metallurgy-related activities were primarily concentrated in proximity to mining sites and industrial areas within the local region. This investigation furnishes valuable insights that can aid governmental authorities in formulating precise control policies to mitigate health threats posed by soils in polymetallic mining areas.

RESUMO

Sycamore leaf biochar (PSAC) was prepared by a two-step phosphoric acid-assisted hydrothermal carbonization combined with a short-time activation method. The characterization results showed that the introduction of phosphoric acid molecules and thermal activation resulted in a substantial increase in the specific surface area (994.21 m2/g) and microporous capacity (0.307 cm3/g) of PSAC. The batch adsorption results showed that the adsorption process of PSAC on bisphenol A (BPA) was best described by the pseudo-second-order kinetic model and Sips isothermal model, with a maximum adsorption capacity of 247.42 mg/g. The adsorption of BPA onto PSAC was determined to be a spontaneous endothermic process. The equilibrium adsorption capacity of PSAC exhibited an upward trend with increasing initial BPA concentration and temperature while decreasing with higher adsorbent dosage and pH value. Coexisting cations and humic acids in water have little impact on the adsorption performance of PSAC for BPA. The adsorption mechanism of BPA by PSAC was mainly governed by pore filling and hydrogen bonding interactions, π-π interactions, and intraparticle diffusion. Furthermore, PSAC demonstrated good reusability by its sustained adsorption capacity of BPA, which remained at 82.6% of the initial adsorption capacity even after four adsorption-desorption cycles. These findings highlight the potential of utilizing low-cost sycamore leaf biochar as an effective adsorbent for the removal of the endocrine disruptor BPA.

RESUMO

Deciphering the temporal patterns of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in sediment cores, and the effect mechanism of sedimentary organic matter (OM) and regional development model on PAHs are crucial for pollution control and environmental management. Herein, sediment core was collected from Chenhu international wetland in Wuhan, central China. Meanwhile, historical trend and source of PAHs and sedimentary OM were presented, respectively. Result demonstrated that the most significant growth of PAHs (increased by 158.8%) was attributed to the significant enhancement of traffic emission (5.57 times), coal combustion (4.59 times), and biomass burning (8.09 times). Similarly, the percentage of phytoplankton (stage Ⅲ: 37.9%; stage Ⅳ: 31.2%) and terrestrial C3 plants (stage Ⅲ: 24.6%; stage Ⅳ: 29.2%) to sedimentary OM hold the dominant position after the stage Ⅱ. The obvious shifts of historical trend and sources in PAHs were highly related to economic development models (r = 0.72, p < 0.001) and sedimentary OM (r = 0.82, p < 0.001). It demonstrated that eutrophication of lake accelerated the burial of PAHs. Redundancy analysis results suggested that TOC was dominating driver of sedimentary PAHs (16.56%) and phytoplankton occupied 9.58%. To further confirm the significant role of economic development models, three different historical trends of PAHs in different regions of China were presented. The result of this study provides the new insight into the geochemistry mechanism of lake sedimentary OM and PAHs. Meanwhile, the relationship of regional development model and sedimentary PAHs was highlighted in this study. Significantly, the main environmental implications of this study are as follows: (1) lake eutrophication of phytoplankton OM accelerated the burial of PAHs in lake sediment; (2) economic development models and energy structure significantly influence the sedimentary PAHs. This study highlights the coupling relationship between OM burial and PAHs sedimentation, and the importance of accelerating the transformation of economic energy structure.

RESUMO

This study presented the mixture of biochar and soil for removal of bisphenol A (BPA) to assess environmental remediation ability. Using phoenix tree leaves as biomass and phosphoric acid as activator, after one-step hydrothermal and short-term activation, the eventual solid product was phosphoric acid hydrothermal activated carbon (HPC). The characterizations showed that HPC had the high specific surface (994.21 m2·g-1), and large unsaturated esters and hydroxyl groups. The saturated adsorption capacities of batch and column adsorption for the addition of 0.5% HPC to soil were 0.790 mg·g-1 and 67.23 mg·kg-1, while to the natural soil were 0.236 mg·g-1 and 8.75 mg·kg-1, respectively. The adsorption kinetics and thermodynamic analysis indicated that the adsorption process utilizing HPC incorporated into soil was a chemical reaction rate-controlled, physical-dominated multilayer adsorption, and spontaneous endothermic. Also, batch adsorption experiments and analysis were performed under different pH levels, HPC contents, organic acid concentrations, and cationic strengths. Successively, fixed-bed column experiments were carried out with and without the HPC; the results showed that the wide mass transfer zone led to the effective fixation of BPA, and the organic acid had no obvious effect on the fixation of BPA when the 1.0% HPC mixed with soil. Finally, through characterizations and data analysis, the enhanced adsorption of BPA by HPC mixed with soil mainly relied on π-π interaction, hydrogen bonding, followed by electrostatic attraction and pore filling.

RESUMO

Pharmaceutical and personal care products (PPCPs) are an important group of emerging contaminants that may threaten organisms at trace concentrations. However, research on the occurrence of PPCPs in urban lakes in China is still scarce. In this study, 15 PPCPs in the Tangxun Lake and the Donghu Lake were collected using the diffusive gradients in thin-films (DGT) technique and analyzed by high performance liquid chromatography tandem-mass spectrometry (HPLC-MS/MS). Thirteen of the 15 targeted PPCPs were detected in the Tangxun Lake, and all PPCPs were detected in the Donghu Lake, with total concentrations ranging from 160 to 730 ng/L (average: 401 ng/L) and 187 to 1933 ng/L (average: 653 ng/L), respectively. Bisphenol A (BPA) was the dominant PPCP, followed by disinfectants in both lakes. The total concentrations of PPCPs in the Donghu Lake were higher than those in the Tangxun Lake. The spatial distribution characteristics of PPCPs in the two lakes were different, with higher total concentrations in the eastern part than in the western part of the Tangxun Lake spatially and higher in the north-western part than in the south-eastern part of the Donghu Lake. The results of the risk assessment showed that BPA and estrone posed high risks to the aquatic environment (RQ ≥ 1), while triclosan and estriol presented a medium risk (0.1 ≤ RQ < 1) in some sites. This study was the first attempt to apply DGT for providing vital data on the evaluation of the ecological risk of PPCPs in the two largest lakes in China, and attention should be paid to the long-term ecological effects caused by the occurrence of PPCPs in lakes.

RESUMO

Wang Lake Wetland is an important habitat for many fish and migratory birds. To explore the effect of periodic hydrological changes on the transfer and ecological risk of OCPs in the multimedia system of the wetland, eight sampling sites were selected for collecting soil (SS), sediment (SD) and water, to acquire dissolved phase (DP) and suspended particulate matter (SPM) samples during low- and high-flow periods. The results indicated that OCPs are pervasive in the various media of Wang Lake Wetland, and there was a significant temporal variability in concentration of ∑23OCPs in the SPM samples. Several OCPs exist certain ecological risks to aquatic organisms, but higher level of OCPs do not always equal to higher ecological risk. The residues of OCPs are largely attributed to their historical use, but recent inputs of some of them are still non-ignorable. The relatively higher values of organic carbon normalized partition coefficient (KOC) for SPM-W (KOC(SPM-W)) were obtained, which reflected the more frequent exchange of OCPs in the SPM samples. The sediment of the Wang Lake Wetland is likely to be a sink for several OCPs with high n-octanol/water partition coefficient (KOW) (e.g., DDTs and its metabolites), and high-temperature and rainfall-driven changes may promote the migration of OCPs with low KOW to the DP.

RESUMO

The desorption mechanism of heavy metals (HMs) in soil around the mining region are complex and affected by multiple pollution sources, including sewage discharge and atmospheric deposition. Meanwhile, pollution sources would change soil physical and chemical properties (mineralogy and organic matter), thus affecting the bioavailability of HMs. This study aimed to investigate the pollution source of HMs (Cd, Co, Cu, Cr, Mn, Ni, Pb, and Zn) in soil near mining, and further evaluate influence mechanism of dust fall on HMs pollution in soil by desorption dynamics processes and pH-dependence leaching test. Result presented that dust fall is the primary pollution source to HMs accumulation in soil. Additionally, the result of mineralogical analysis in dust fall revealed that quartz, kaolinite, calcite, chalcopyrite, and magnetite are the major mineralogical phases by XRD and SEM-EDS. Meanwhile, the abundance of kaolinite and calcite in dust fall is higher than in soil, which is the primary reason of higher acid-base buffer capacity of dust fall. Correspondingly, the weakened or disappeared of hydroxyl after the adding acid extraction (0-0.4 mmol· g-1) demonstrated that hydroxyl is the main participants of HMs absorption in soil and dust fall. These combined findings suggested that atmospheric deposition not only increases the pollution loading of HMs in soil, but also changes the mineral phase composition of soil, which would increase the adsorption capacity and bioavailability of HMs in soil. This is very remarkable that heavy metals in soil influenced by dust fall pollution could be released preferentially when soil pH is changed. The present results of this study would provide efficient and scientific targeted strategies for pollution control of HMs in soil near mining areas.

RESUMO

FeSiAl is a commonly used soft magnetic material because of its high resistivity, low core loss, and low cost. In order to systematically study the effect of epoxy resin (EP) on the insulated coating and pressing effect of FeSiAl magnetic powders, six groups of composite powders and their corresponding soft magnetic powder cores (SMPCs) were prepared by changing the content of EP, and the soft magnetic properties of the powders and SMPCs were characterized. The results showed that FeSiAl powders exhibited good sphericity and morphology. The Ms of FeSiAl/EP composite powders was between 117.4-124.8 emu·g-1 after adding (0.3, 0.5, 0.7, 1, 1.5, and 2 wt. %) EP. The permeability µe of SMPCs increased first and then decreased with the increase in EP content. Among them, when the EP content was 1 wt. %, the corresponding SMPCs had the highest µe and excellent DC bias performance (63%, 100 Oe). In the whole test frequency range (50~1000 kHz), SMPCs with 1 wt. % EP content had the lowest core loss (1733.9 mW·cm-3 at 20 mT and 1000 kHz). After that, the loss separation study in the low-frequency range (50~250 kHz) was conducted, and the hysteresis loss and eddy current loss of SMPCs with 1 wt. % EP content were also the lowest. In addition, SMPCs also exhibited the best overall performance when the EP content was 1 wt. %. The results of this study can guide the design of composite insulation coating schemes and promote the development of soft magnetic materials for medium and high frequency applications.

RESUMO

Steel casing pipes used in the construction of deep oil wells usually require both high strength and corrosion-resistant behavior. Due to the exploration of deep H2S-bearing oil reservoirs, sulfide stress cracking (SSC) is becoming an increasingly serious concern for casing steel. The nonmetallic inclusions in the steel are among the key reasons for its service failure. The rare earth element Ce can be used to modify the inclusions in casing steel and improve its SSC resistance. Here, taking C110 grade casing steel (the highest class currently in service) as the investigated object, the modification behavior of Ce inclusions in the steel and the effect of the addition of Ce in varying amounts (0.01, 0.024, and 0.042 wt.%) on the modified products were studied through high-temperature tube furnace experiments and thermodynamic calculations. The results showed that Ce had an obvious modification effect on the CaO·Al2O3 inclusions in casing steel, and the diffusion of dissolved Ce in the steel was the limiting step of the modification reaction. With the extension of reaction time, the sequence describing the modification of inclusions in the steel was determined as follows: CaO·Al2O3 → CeAlO3 → Ce2O3/Ce2O2S. The final stable product after modification depended on the amount of Ce added. With 0.01 wt.% Ce, the stable phase in molten steel was Ce2O3; on the other hand, upon adding ≥0.024 wt.% Ce, the stable phase became Ce2O2S. In addition, the thermodynamic stability of Ce2O3 decreased, and it was transformed into CeAlO3, Ce2O2S, Ce2S3, and CeS during solidification. On the basis of our results and the considerations for smooth casting, the addition of a proper amount of a rare earth element is suggested for industrial trials, following the achievement of a significant and surprising improvement in the qualified rate of SSC resistance for the final steel products. The relevant mechanism is also analyzed.

RESUMO

Despite the decrease in anthropogenic emissions, haze episodes were still frequent in the Fenwei Plain, which was identified as one of the three key areas for air pollution control. Herein, PM2.5 samples were collected to investigate the influence of festival effect during the Chinese Spring Festival from February 2rd to 13th, 2019, in Linfen on the Fenwei Plain. The characteristics of element pollution, enrichment factor, source apportionment, regional transport of PM2.5, and health risk assessment were discussed. Meanwhile, the simulated lung fluid method (SLF) was carried out to accurately assess the inhalation risks of heavy metals (HMs). Results indicated that the average concentration of PM2.5 was 195.6 µg·m-3 during the studying period. Road fugitive dust (15.6%), firework burning source (25.6%), industrial emission (30.5%), and coal combustion (28.3%) were identified by positive matrix factorization (PMF) modeling. Using the HYSPLIT trajectory model, air masses from the central Shaanxi, southern Hebei, and northern Henan were the dominant transport paths during the Spring Festival, which contributed 21.9 and 41.2% of total trajectories, respectively. The findings that high PSCF and CWT levels were found in central Shaanxi, southern Hebei, and northern Henan were confirmed. The SLF mean bioaccessibility (%) of the solubility of particulate metals was in order of Mn > Ni > Sb > Ba > Zn > Pb > Cr. However, the carcinogenic risk value of Cr was the highest, exceeding the maximum acceptable risk. The present study provided important information for further analyzing the air pollution cause of Fenwei Plain.

RESUMO

In this paper, a mold electromagnetic stirring (M-EMS) model was established to investigate the behavior of M-EMS for round bloom castings under different conditions, and an electromagnetic-flow-heat transfer-solidification coupling model was established to explore the problem of eccentric stirring for various formats of round blooms. The results show that the magnetic flux density decreased with the increase in the current frequency, but the electromagnetic torque increases first and then decreases with it, and the same structure of M-EMS for round blooms has the same optimal current frequency at any current intensity. The electromagnetic torque and electromagnetic force both increase as a quadratic function of the current intensity, and the electromagnetic torque, which drives the steel flow, can directly characterize the real M-EMS performance. The mold copper tube has a significant magnetic shielding effect on M-EMS, the stirring intensity decreases rapidly as the tube thickness increases, and the optimal stirring frequency decreases as well. In fact, the deviation between the stirrer center and the geometric center of the strand can result in the eccentric stirring phenomenon. When blooms with a section size of Φ350 mm are produced by Φ650 mm SMS-Concast casting machine, the upper region of the inner arc side and the lower region of the outer arc side are subject to a stronger washing effect, which makes the temperature of the inner and outer arcs show alternating differences. The jet flow from the five-port nozzle can suppress the difference in initial solidification symmetry between the inner and outer arcs of round blooms caused by eccentric stirring. This paper reveals the magnetic shielding effect of the mold copper tube and the magnetic field loss of the air between the stirrer and the inner and outer arcs of the copper, which lead to the stirring intensity and the eccentric stirring phenomenon.

RESUMO

Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and heavy metals (HMs) are persistent environmental issues. Secondary emissions are produced as a result of climate change and human activity. To observe spatio-temporal variations of PAHs and HMs and to discuss the sources as well as the source or sink of PAHs for sediment and peat, twelve surface sediment and surface water sites were chosen along the direction of the flow to down hole in the Dajiuhu area, simultaneously, surface peat and water samples were collected in peatland. Samples were continuously taken for three years (Sep. 2018, Sep. 2019, and Sep. 2020, respectively). The results showed that PAHs and HMs are common in sediment and peat. PAHs concentration is generally higher in peat and water, while HMs concentration is relatively higher in water and relatively low in sediment and peat, and the ecological risk of sediment was low. HMs in sediment are mainly affected by rock weathering, while PAHs are mainly affected by atmospheric deposition, biomass and coal combustion and vehicle emission. HMs and PAHs can be used as an indicator of rock weathering and human activity in Dajiuhu area, respectively. A water-sediment fugacity analysis revealed that peat is a sink for PAHs, confirming that it has a high capacity for adsorbing organic contaminants, and that sediments are secondary sources of PAHs that can release them into water. Attention should be paid to the increased fugacity fraction (ff) value in peatland, indicating that peat might be converted from a sink to a source of PAHs.

RESUMO

To develop accurate air pollution control policies, it is necessary to determine the sources of different types of fugitive dust in mining and metallurgy areas. A method integrating principal component analysis and a positive matrix factorization model was used to identify the potential sources of heavy metals (HMs) in five different types of fugitive dust. The results showed accumulation of Mn, Fe, and Cu can be caused by natural geological processes, which contributed 38.55% of HMs. The Ni and Co can be released from multiple transport pathways and accumulated through local deposition, which contributed 29.27%. Mining-related activities contributed 20.11% of the HMs and showed a relatively high accumulation of As, Sn, Zn, and Cr, while traffic-related emissions contributed the rest of the HMs and were responsible for the enrichment in Pb and Cd. The co-applied source-identification models improved the precision of the identification of sources, which revealed that the local geological background and mining-related activities were mainly responsible for the accumulation of HMs in the area. The findings can help the government develop targeted control strategies for HM dispersion efficiency.

RESUMO

This study aimed to assess the pollution levels, sources, and human health risks of heavy metals in street dust from a typical industrial district in Wuhan City, Central China. In total, 47 street dust samples were collected from the major traffic arteries and streets around Wuhan Iron and Steel (Group) Company (WISC) in Qingshan District, Wuhan. The concentrations of heavy metals (Cr, Mn, Ni, Zn, Fe, Cu, and Cd) in street dust were determined by atomic absorption spectroscopy. Results indicated that the mean concentrations of Zn (249.71 mg/kg), Cu (51.15 mg/kg), and Cd (0.86 mg/kg) in street dust were higher than their corresponding soil background values in Hubei Province. Heavy metal enrichment is closely related to urban transportation and industrial production. The pollution level of heavy metals in street dust was assessed using the geo-accumulation method (Igeo) and potential ecological risk assessment (PERI). Based on the Igeo value, Cr, Mn, Fe, and Ni showed no pollution, Zn and Cu showed light to moderate contamination, and Cd showed moderate contamination. The PERI values of heavy metals in street dust ranged between 76.70 and 7027.28, which represents a medium to high potential ecological risk. Principal component analysis showed that the sources of heavy metals in street dust were mainly influenced by anthropogenic activities. Among the studied metals, Cu, Cr, Zn, Fe, and Mn mainly come from industrial processes, while Ni and Cd come from traffic exhaust. The non-carcinogenic risk indexes of heavy metals for children and adults are ranked as Cr > Cu > Ni > Cd > Zn. The health risks to children through the different exposure pathways are higher than those for adults. Hand-to-mouth intake is the riskiest exposure pathway for non-carcinogenic risk. In addition, Cr, Ni, and Cd do not pose a carcinogenic risk for the residents.

RESUMO

FeSiBCCr amorphous powders were produced by a novel gas-water combined atomization process, and the corresponding MPCs (magnetic powder cores) were subsequently fabricated by phosphating treatment (0.4~1.6 wt.%), cold pressing (550~2350 MPa), and annealing (423~773 K), respectively. The results showed that the powders had high circularity, excellent thermal stability (ΔT = 59 K), and high saturation magnetization (0.83 T), which could provide raw powders for high-performance MPCs. With increasing phosphoric acid concentrations, despite the increase in DC-bias%, the uniformity of the insulation layers deteriorated, which led to a decrease in permeability and an increase in core loss. With increasing compaction pressures, the core loss increased continuously, and the permeability and DC-bias% first increased and then decreased. When annealing below the crystallization temperature, with increasing annealing temperatures, the permeability increased, and the core loss and DC-bias% decreased continuously. Under the optimized process of 0.4 wt.% phosphating concentration, 550 MPa pressure, and 773 K annealing temperature, the MPCs had a permeability of 21.54 ± 1.21, DC-bias% of 90.3 ± 0.2, and a core loss (Bm = 50 mT, f = 100 kHz) of 103.0 ± 26.3 mW cm-3. The MPCs had excellent high-frequency low-loss characteristics and showed great application potential under the development trends of high current, high power, and high frequency of electronic components.

RESUMO

The 7th Military World Games held in Wuhan (WH) in Oct 2019 provided an opportunity to clarify the impact of short-term control measures on air quality. Fine particulate matters (PM2.5) were collected in WH, Huangshi (HS), and Huanggang (HG) during the control (Oct 13-28, 2019) and non-control periods (Oct 29- Nov 5, 2019). The results showed that air quality was good during the control period, with the concentrations of PM2.5 and gaseous pollutants being below the Grade Ⅱ of China Ambient Air Quality Standard. Concentrations of PM2.5 and its major chemical components in the control period were significantly lower than those in the non-control period, with reductions ranging from 17% (trace elements) to 46% (elemental carbon). However, higher contributions of secondary components such as SO42-, NO3-, NH4+ and secondary organic carbon (SOC) to PM2.5 were observed during the control period, suggesting the important role of secondary transformation. Potential source contribution function (PSCF) of PM2.5 showed that the main source regions were potentially located in surrounding cities Hubei Province, but regional transport can't be ignored. Six sources were identified by positive matrix factorization (PMF) for both control and non-control period. The contributions of combustion emissions and vehicle emissions were amplified in the control period, while the contribution of construction dust increased significantly when the control measures ended. Emission reductions contributed more to PM2.5 concentration decrease in WH (55%) than that in HS (51%) and HG (49%), which was consistent with the stricter control measures implemented in WH. These results indicated that short-term controls were effective at lowering PM2.5 concentration. However, the elevated contributions of secondary aerosols and the influence of regional transport on the study areas also need to be paid attention for air quality improvement in the future.

RESUMO

Stringent pollution control measures are generally applied to improve air quality, especially in the Spring Festival in China. Meanwhile, human activities are reduced significantly due to nationwide lockdown measures to curtail the COVID-19 spreading in 2020. Herein, to better understand the influence of control measures and meteorology on air pollution, this study compared the variation of pollution source and their health risk during the 2019 and 2020 Spring Festival in Linfen, China. Results revealed that the average concentration of PM2.5 in 2020 decreased by 39.0% when compared to the 2019 Spring Festival. Organic carbon (OC) and SO42- were the primary contributor to PM2.5 with the value of 19.5% (21.1%) and 23.5% (25.5%) in 2019 (2020) Spring Festival, respectively. Based on the positive matrix factorization (PMF) model, six pollution sources of PM2.5 were indicated. Vehicle emissions (VE) had the maximum reduction in pollution source concentration (28.39 µg· m-3), followed by dust fall (DF) (11.47 µg· m-3), firework burning (FB) (10.39 µg· m-3), coal combustion (CC) (8.54 µg· m-3), and secondary inorganic aerosol (SIA) (3.95 µg· m-3). However, the apportionment concentration of biomass burning (BB) increased by 78.7%, indicating a significant increase in biomass combustion under control measures. PAHs-lifetime lung cancer risk (ILCR) of VE, CC, FB, BB, and DF, decreased by 44.6%, 43.2%, 34.1%, 21.3%, and 2.0%, respectively. Additionally, the average contribution of meteorological conditions on PM2.5 in 2020 increased by 20.21% compared to 2019 Spring Festival, demonstrating that meteorological conditions played a crucial role in located air pollution. This study revealed that the existing control measures in Linfen were efficient to reduce air pollution and health risk, whereas more BB emissions were worthy of further attention. Furthermore, the result was conducive to developing more effective control measures and putting more attention into unfavorable meteorological conditions in Linfen.

RESUMO

Cracking con-rod is an advanced high-precision connecting structure based on brittle expansion, breaking and reconnection of steel, to solve the problem of assembly circle missing. High carbon micro-alloyed steel C70S6, as a dominant material for the production of cracking con-rod, has extremely strict requirements on non-metallic inclusions in steel and microstructure stability. Continuous casting tundish plays an important role in removing large-sized inclusions and stabilizing casting quality. Aiming at the inconsistent casting quality of C70S6 steel produced by a three-strand asymmetric tundish and the frequent occurrence of slag entrapment problems in Xining Special Steel, the tundish structure was optimized by means of physical modelling combined with numerical simulation, and the quality of the bloom castings and subsequent hot-rolled products before and after optimization were compared based on volume production. The results show that a new flow control design to the tundish can effectively improve the consistency of its metallurgical effect for each of the three strands and the following overall product quality, in which the flow field and temperature field in the tundish are more uniform. This is due to the adoption of a vortex inhibitor and an optimized wall structure according to the measured RTD curve, ink trajectory and numerical simulation on the 3-D streamline contours and temperature distribution in the tundish. The peak concentration of outlet 1 is decreased from 6.5 before optimization to less than 2.0 after optimization, which means the elimination or alleviation of the local short-circuit flow. The maximum temperature difference of C70S6 molten steel measured at the outlets of the tundish three strands is decreased from 2-5 °C to 1-3 °C, which is in good agreement with the numerical simulation results. The difference in columnar crystal ratio of the corresponding bloom castings is decreased from 2.27-3.17% to 1.26-1.85%, and the consistency of central carbon segregation index is also significantly improved. In addition, the difference in oxygen content among the three strand blooms is decreased from 1.7-3.5 ppm to 0.8-1.9 ppm. As a result, the overall mechanical properties and microstructure stability of the hot-rolled products are improved statistically, in which the hardness fluctuation is decreased from 84 HBW to 60 HBW, the inclusion grade of types B + C + D + Ds is reduced to 1.105, and the occurrence rate of Ds dropped to 0.118%. Accordingly, the failure rate of the cracking con-rod is controlled stably within 4‱, and the fracture is generally smoother than that before tundish optimization. In summary, the flow field optimization to a multi-strand asymmetric tundish has a clear effect on improving the overall quality of its bloom castings and rolled products, which should be paid more attention industrially. Meanwhile, the present study provides a reliable theoretical and experimental reference for the improvement of metallurgical effects of an asymmetric-typed tundish commonly used in special steel production.
