RESUMO

This study aimed to develop and internally validate a nomogram model for assessing the risk of intraoperative hypothermia in patients undergoing video-assisted thoracoscopic (VATS) lobectomy. This study is a retrospective study. A total of 530 patients who undergoing VATS lobectomy from January 2022 to December 2023 in a tertiary hospital in Wuhan were selected. Patients were divided into hypothermia group (n = 346) and non-hypothermia group (n = 184) according to whether hypothermia occurred during the operation. Lasso regression was used to screen the independent variables. Logistic regression was used to analyze the risk factors of hypothermia during operation, and a nomogram model was established. Bootstrap method was used to internally verify the nomogram model. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve was used to evaluate the discrimination of the model. Calibration curve and Hosmer Lemeshow test were used to evaluate the accuracy of the model. Decision curve analysis (DCA) was used to evaluate the clinical utility of the model. Intraoperative hypothermia occurred in 346 of 530 patients undergoing VATS lobectomy (65.28%). Logistic regression analysis showed that age, serum total bilirubin, inhaled desflurane, anesthesia duration, intraoperative infusion volume, intraoperative blood loss and body mass index were risk factors for intraoperative hypothermia in patients undergoing VATS lobectomy (P < 0.05). The area under ROC curve was 0.757, 95% CI (0.714-0.799). The optimal cutoff value was 0.635, the sensitivity was 0.717, and the specificity was 0.658. These results suggested that the model was well discriminated. Calibration curve has shown that the actual values are generally in agreement with the predicted values. Hosmer-Lemeshow test showed that χ2 = 5.588, P = 0.693, indicating that the model has a good accuracy. The DCA results confirmed that the model had high clinical utility. The nomogram model constructed in this study showed good discrimination, accuracy and clinical utility in predicting patients with intraoperative hypothermia, which can provide reference for medical staff to screen high-risk of intraoperative hypothermia in patients undergoing VATS lobectomy.

BACKGROUND: Tracheal tube cuff pressure will increase after pneumoperitoneum when the cuff is inflated with air, high pressure can cause tracheal mucosal damage. This prospective trial aimed to assess if inflating with normal saline or lidocaine can prevent increase of tracheal tube cuff pressure and tracheal mucosal damage in laparoscopic surgeries with general anesthesia. Whether changes of tracheal tube cuff transverse diameter (CD) can predict changes of tracheal tube cuff pressure. METHODS: Ninety patients scheduled for laparoscopic resection of colorectal neoplasms under general anesthesia were randomly assigned to groups air (A), saline (S) or lidocaine (L). Endotracheal tube cuff was inflated with room-temperature air in group A (n = 30), normal saline in group S (n = 30), 2% lidocaine hydrochloride injection in group L (n = 30). After intubation, tracheal tube cuff pressure was monitored by a calibrated pressure transducers, cuff pressure was adjusted to 25 cmH2O (T0.5). Tracheal tube cuff pressure at 15 min after pneumoperitoneum (T1) and 15 min after exsufflation (T2) were accessed. CD were measured by ultrasound at T0.5 and T1, the ability of ΔCD (T1-0.5) to predict cuff pressure was accessed. Tracheal mucous injury at the end of surgery were also recorded. RESULTS: Tracheal tube cuff pressure had no significant difference among the three groups at T1 and T2. ΔCD had prediction value (AUC: 0.92 [95% CI: 0.81-1.02]; sensitivity: 0.99; specificity: 0.82) for cuff pressure. Tracheal mucous injury at the end of surgery were 0 (0, 1.0) in group A, 0 (0, 1.0) in group S, 0 (0, 0) in group L (p = 0.02, group L was lower than group A and S, p = 0.03 and p = 0.04). CONCLUSIONS: Compared to inflation with air, normal saline and 2% lidocaine cannot ameliorate the increase of tracheal tube cuff pressure during the pneumoperitoneum period under general anesthesia, but lidocaine can decrease postoperative tracheal mucosa injury. ΔCD measured by ultrasound is a predictor for changes of tracheal tube cuff pressure. TRIAL REGISTRATION: Chinese Clinical Trial Registry, identifier: ChiCTR2100054089, Date: 08/12/2021.

The three-dimensional genome structure organized by CTCF is required for development. Clinically identified mutations in CTCF have been linked to adverse developmental outcomes. Nevertheless, the underlying mechanism remains elusive. In this investigation, we explore the regulatory roles of a clinically relevant R567W point mutation, located within the 11th zinc finger of CTCF, by introducing this mutation into both murine models and human embryonic stem cell-derived cortical organoid models. Mice with homozygous CTCFR567W mutation exhibit growth impediments, resulting in postnatal mortality, and deviations in brain, heart, and lung development at the pathological and single-cell transcriptome levels. This mutation induces premature stem-like cell exhaustion, accelerates the maturation of GABAergic neurons, and disrupts neurodevelopmental and synaptic pathways. Additionally, it specifically hinders CTCF binding to peripheral motifs upstream to the core consensus site, causing alterations in local chromatin structure and gene expression, particularly at the clustered protocadherin locus. Comparative analysis using human cortical organoids mirrors the consequences induced by this mutation. In summary, this study elucidates the influence of the CTCFR567W mutation on human neurodevelopmental disorders, paving the way for potential therapeutic interventions.

OBJECTIVES: This study investigated the effectiveness of a deep convolutional neural network (CNN) in diagnosing and staging caries lesions in quantitative light-induced fluorescence (QLF) images taken by a self-manufactured handheld device. METHODS: A small toothbrush-like device consisting of a 400 nm UV light-emitting lamp with a 470 nm filter was manufactured for intraoral imaging. A total of 133 cases with 9,478 QLF images of teeth were included for caries lesion evaluation using a CNN model. The database was divided into development, validation, and testing cohorts at a 7:2:1 ratio. The accuracy, sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value, negative predictive value, and area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC) were calculated for model performance. RESULTS: The overall caries prevalence was 19.59%. The CNN model achieved an AUC of 0.88, an accuracy of 0.88, a specificity of 0.94, and a sensitivity of 0.64 in the validation cohort. They achieved an overall accuracy of 0.92, a sensitivity of 0.95 and a specificity of 0.55 in the testing cohort. The model can distinguish different stages of caries well, with the best performance in detecting deep caries followed by intermediate and superficial lesions. CONCLUSIONS: Caries lesions have typical characteristics in QLF images and can be detected by CNNs. A QLF-based device with CNNs can assist in caries screening in the clinic or at home. BACKGROUND: Complicated appendicitis is associated with high morbidity, mortality, and healthcare costs. However, the relationship of preoperative in-hospital delay >24 hours with complicated appendicitis and postoperative morbidity remains unclear. This meta-analysis investigated the effects of preoperative in-hospital delay on complicated appendicitis and postoperative morbidity in patients with acute appendicitis. MATERIALS AND METHODS: This study adheres to the PRISMA 2020 and AMSTAR 2 guidelines. The PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, and Web of Science databases up to October 14, 2023 (updated on March 16, 2024) were searched for randomized controlled trials (RCTs) and observational studies that evaluated the effect of preoperative in-hospital delays of >24 hours on acute appendicitis. Odds ratios (OR) and 95% confidence intervals were also determined. RESULTS: We yielded 18,130 records, of which 28 studies (512,881 patients) were included in the meta-analysis. The risk of bias was considered serious, moderate, and low for 24, 3, and 1 study, respectively. Although preoperative in-hospital delays of >24 hours were not associated with a higher risk of surgical site infection (OR 1.04, 95% CI 0.97, 1.12, P=0.25), in-hospital delays of >24 hours was a risk factor for complicated appendicitis (OR 1.60, 95% CI 1.25, 2.05, P=0.0002), and postoperative complications (OR 1.51, 95% CI 1.30, 1.75, P<0.00001). In addition, an in-hospital delay of >24 hours before surgery increased the OR of postoperative mortality (OR 1.81, 95% CI 1.33, 2.45, P=0.0001). The sensitivity analyses also confirmed the robustness of our results. CONCLUSIONS: An in-hospital delay of >24 hours is a risk factor for complicated appendicitis, postoperative complications, and mortality. Given the subsequent adverse outcomes of in-hospital delays, appendectomy should not be delayed for >24 hours.

Denitrifying phosphorus removal (DPR), which is dominated by denitrifying polyphosphate-accumulating organisms (DPAOs), is a promising process for nitrogen and phosphorus removal. Denitrifying glycogen-accumulating organisms (DGAOs) and DPAOs typically coexist in the DPR sludge, complicating the study of DPAOs' denitrification capacity. In this study, two reactors were fed with nitrate and nitrite during the anoxic phase to cultivate nitrate-DPR and nitrite-DPR sludge. Both reactors yielded high and low DGAO abundance sludges, enabling the evaluation of the denitrification capacity of DPAOs. For the nitrate-DPR sludge, the nitrite reduction rate was 1.63 times higher than the nitrate reduction rate when DPAOs were the primary denitrifiers. For the nitrite-DPR sludge, the reduction rate of nitrite was more than three times that of nitrate, irrespective of DGAO abundance. These findings indicated that DPAOs preferred nitrite to nitrate and were well suited to reduce nitrite rather than reduce nitrate to supply nitrite.

BACKGROUND: Glioma is the most common primary brain tumor with high mortality and disability rates. Recent studies have highlighted the significant prognostic consequences of subtyping molecular pathological markers using tumor samples, such as IDH, 1p/19q, and TERT. However, the relative importance of individual markers or marker combinations in affecting patient survival remains unclear. Moreover, the high cost and reliance on postoperative tumor samples hinder the widespread use of these molecular markers in clinical practice, particularly during the preoperative period. We aim to identify the most prominent molecular biomarker combination that affects patient survival and develop a preoperative MRI-based predictive model and clinical scoring system for this combination. METHODS: A cohort dataset of 2,879 patients was compiled for survival risk stratification. In a subset of 238 patients, recursive partitioning analysis (RPA) was applied to create a survival subgroup framework based on molecular markers. We then collected MRI data and applied Visually Accessible Rembrandt Images (VASARI) features to construct predictive models and clinical scoring systems. RESULTS: The RPA delineated four survival groups primarily defined by the status of IDH and TERT mutations. Predictive models incorporating VASARI features and clinical data achieved AUC values of 0.85 for IDH and 0.82 for TERT mutations. Nomogram-based scoring systems were also formulated to facilitate clinical application. CONCLUSIONS: The combination of IDH-TERT mutation status alone can identify the most distinct survival differences in glioma patients. The predictive model based on preoperative MRI features, supported by clinical assessments, offers a reliable method for early molecular mutation prediction and constitutes a valuable scoring tool for clinicians in guiding treatment strategies.

Background: Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most prevalent cardiac arrhythmia encountered in clinical practice, and it is associated with an increased risk of mortality, stroke, and peripheral embolism. The risk of stroke in AF is heterogeneous and dependent on underlying clinical conditions included in current risk stratification schemes. Recently, the CHA2DS2-VASc score has been incorporated into guidelines to encompass common stroke risk factors observed in routine clinical practice. The aim of this study was to study the predictive value of CHA2DS2-VASc score on the prognosis of patients with AF to determine the correlation of major complications including cerebral infarction and intracranial hemorrhage in patients with AF with oral anticoagulant and antiplatelet aggregation drugs and to identify the risk factors for all-cause mortality. Methods: A prospective study was conducted on 181 patients with AF who underwent physical examinations at Hai'an Qutang Central Hospital from January 2020 to December 2020. The patient's general condition, chronic disease history, CHA2DS2-VASc [congestive heart failure, hypertension, age ≥75 years (doubled), diabetes, stroke (doubled), vascular disease, age 65 to 74 years, and sex category (female)] score, left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF), lipid metabolism, and oral anticoagulant and antiplatelet aggregation medication during physical examination were recorded. By using telephone meetings to complete the follow-up, we tracked the patient's cerebral infarction, intracranial hemorrhage, and survival status within 2 years of follow-up, statistically analyzed the relationship between AF complications and medication, and grouped patients with AF based on the CHA2DS2-VASc score to evaluate its predictive ability for mortality outcomes in these patients. Results: The patients were divided into four groups according to the medication situation, and the incidence of cerebral infarction in the combination group was significantly lower than that in the non-medication group (0.0% vs. 19.2%; P<0.01). The incidence of intracranial hemorrhage in the combination group was significantly higher than that in the non-drug group (13.8% vs. 0.0%; P<0.01). The logistic regression model indicated that patients with a history of cerebral infarction had an increased risk of death compared to those without a history of cerebral infarction [odds ratio (OR) =7.404; 95% confidence interval (CI): 2.255-24.309]. After grouping according to the CHA2DS2-VASc score, we found that there was a significant difference in the 2-year survival rate between patients with CHA2DS2-VASc score <5 and those with a score ≥5 (P<0.01). The characteristic curve analysis of the participants showed that the CHA2DS2-VASc score had good predictive ability for all-cause mortality in patients with AF (area under the curve =0.754), with a cutoff value of 4, a sensitivity of 62.50%, a specificity of 86.06%, and a 95% CI of 0.684-0.815. Conclusions: The CHA2DS2-VASc score demonstrated high predictive value for all-cause mortality in patients with AF.

RNA silencing, a conserved gene regulatory mechanism, is critical for host resistance to viruses. Liquid-liquid phase separation (LLPS) is an important mechanism in regulating various biological processes. Emerging studies suggest RNA helicases play important roles in microRNA (miRNA) production through LLPS. In this study, we investigated the functional role of RNA helicase 20 (RH20), a DDX5 homolog in Arabidopsis thaliana, in RNA silencing and plant resistance to viruses. Our findings reveal that RH20 localizes in both the cytoplasm and nucleus, with puncta formation in the cytoplasm exhibiting liquid-liquid phase separation behavior. We demonstrate that RH20 plays positive roles in plant immunity against viruses. Further study showed that RH20 interacts with Argonaute 2 (AGO2), a key component of the RNA silencing pathway. Moreover, RH20 promotes the accumulation of both endogenous and exogenous small RNAs (sRNAs). Overall, our study identifies RH20 as a novel phase separation protein that interacting with AGO2, influencing sRNAs accumulation, and enhancing plant resistance to viruses.

OBJECTIVE: Relational job characteristics include perceived social worth and perceived social influence. Good relational job characteristics mean that nurses have high prosocial behavior. The purpose of this study was to explore the potential profile of nurses' relational job characteristics, influencing factors and their differences in turnover intention and subjective well-being, thus finding the most suitable clinical relationship job characteristics. METHODS: A cross-sectional survey was conducted among 1013 clinical nurses using the general demographic data questionnaire, Relational Job Characteristics scale, Turnover Intention Questionnaire and Campbell index of well-being. A latent profile analysis was performed to explore relational job characteristics latent profiles. Multinomial logistic regression analysis was conducted to examine the predictors of profile membership, and a one-way analysis of variance was applied to compare the turnover intention and subjective well-being in each latent profile. RESULTS: Five latent profiles were identified and labeled 'High prosocial job characteristics' profile (20.7%), 'Moderate prosocial job characteristics' profile (41.7%), 'High social worth-low social impact perceived' profile (6.3%), 'Low social worth-high social impact perceived' profile (18.8%) and 'Low prosocial job characteristics' profile (12.5%). Factors affecting the different types of nurse relationship job characteristics include age, marital status, hospital department, nursing years, professional title and hospital position. Among them, chief nurse, nurses with more than 20 years of nursing experience and obstetrics and gynecology nurses were more likely to be 'high prosocial job characteristics' profile. The turnover intention of nurses in 'high prosocial job characteristics' profile was significantly lower than that of other profiles, and their subjective well-being was significantly higher than that of other profiles. CONCLUSION: Improving nurses' perception of social worth and social impact on clinical work can improve nurses' prosocial behavior and subjective well-being, and reduce their turnover intention. Nursing managers or policy makers can formulate targeted intervention measures according to the influencing factors of potential profiles.

Homocysteine thiolactone (HTL), a toxic metabolite of homocysteine (Hcy) in hyperhomocysteinemia (HHcy), is known to modify protein structure and function, leading to protein damage through formation of N-Hcy-protein. HTL has been highly linked to HHcy-associated cardiovascular and neurodegenerative diseases. The protective role of HTL hydrolases against HTL-associated vascular toxicity and neurotoxicity have been reported. Although several endogeneous enzymes capable of hydrolyzing HTL have been identified, the primary enzyme responsible for its metabolism remains unclear. In this study, three human carboxylesterases were screened to explore new HTL hydrolase and human carboxylesterase 1 (hCES1) demonstrates the highest catalytic activity against HTL. Given the abundance of hCES1 in the liver and the clinical significance of its single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs), six common hCES1 nonsynonymous coding SNP (nsSNPs) variants were examined and characterized for their kinetic parameters. Variants E220G and G143E displayed 7.3-fold and 13.2-fold lower catalytic activities than its wild-type counterpart. In addition, the detailed catalytic mechanism of hCES1 for HTL hydrolysis was computational investigated and elucidated by Quantum mechanics/molecular mechanics (QM/MM) molecular dynamics (MD) method. The function of residues E220 and G143 in sustaining its hydrolytic activity of hCES1 was analyzed, and the calculated energy difference aligns well with experimental-derived results, supporting the validity of our computational insights. These findings provide insights into the potential protective role of hCES1 against HTL-associated toxicity, and warrant future studies on the possible association between specific genetic variants of hCES1 with impaired catalytic function and clinical susceptibility of HTL-associated cardiovascular and neurodegenerative diseases.

Foveal and peripheral vision are two distinct modes of visual processing essential for navigating the world. However, it remains unclear if they engage different neural mechanisms and circuits within the visual attentional system. Here, we trained macaques to perform a free-gaze visual search task using natural face and object stimuli and recorded a large number of 14588 visually responsive neurons from a broadly distributed network of brain regions involved in visual attentional processing. Foveal and peripheral units had substantially different proportions across brain regions and exhibited systematic differences in encoding visual information and visual attention. The spike-LFP coherence of foveal units was more extensively modulated by both attention and visual selectivity, thus indicating differential engagement of the attention and visual coding network compared to peripheral units. Furthermore, we delineated the interaction and coordination between foveal and peripheral processing for spatial attention and saccade selection. Finally, the search became more efficient with increasing target-induced desynchronization, and foveal and peripheral units exhibited different correlations between neural responses and search behavior. Together, the systematic differences between foveal and peripheral processing provide valuable insights into how the brain processes and integrates visual information from different regions of the visual field. Significance Statement: This study investigates the systematic differences between foveal and peripheral vision, two crucial components of visual processing essential for navigating our surroundings. By simultaneously recording from a large number of neurons in the visual attentional neural network, we revealed substantial variations in the proportion and functional characteristics of foveal and peripheral units across different brain regions. We uncovered differential modulation of functional connectivity by attention and visual selectivity, elucidated the intricate interplay between foveal and peripheral processing in spatial attention and saccade selection, and linked neural responses to search behavior. Overall, our study contributes to a deeper understanding of how the brain processes and integrates visual information for active visual behaviors.

Goal-directed visual attention is a fundamental cognitive process that enables animals to selectively focus on specific regions of the visual field while filtering out irrelevant information. However, given the domain specificity of social behaviors, it remains unclear whether attention to faces versus non-faces recruits different neurocognitive processes. In this study, we simultaneously recorded activity from temporal and frontal nodes of the attention network while macaques performed a goal-directed visual search task. V4 and inferotemporal (IT) visual category-selective units, selected during cue presentation, discriminated fixations on targets and distractors during the search, but were differentially engaged by face and house targets. V4 and IT category-selective units also encoded fixation transitions and search dynamics. Compared to distractors, fixations on targets reduced spike-LFP coherence within the temporal cortex. Importantly, target-induced desynchronization between the temporal and prefrontal cortices was only evident for face targets, suggesting that attention to faces differentially engaged the prefrontal cortex. We further revealed bidirectional theta influence between the temporal and prefrontal cortices using Granger causality, which was again disproportionate for faces. Finally, we showed that the search became more efficient with increasing target-induced desynchronization. Together, our results suggest domain specificity for attending to faces and an intricate interplay between visual attention and social processing neural networks.

Visual attention and object recognition are two critical cognitive functions that significantly influence our perception of the world. While these neural processes converge on the temporal cortex, the exact nature of their interactions remains largely unclear. Here, we systematically investigated the interplay between visual attention and object feature coding by training macaques to perform a free-gaze visual search task using natural face and object stimuli. With a large number of units recorded from multiple brain areas, we discovered that units exhibiting visual feature coding displayed a distinct attentional response profile and functional connectivity compared to units not exhibiting feature coding. Attention directed towards search targets enhanced the pattern separation of stimuli across brain areas, and this enhancement was more pronounced for units encoding visual features. Our findings suggest two stages of neural processing, with the early stage primarily focused on processing visual features and the late stage dedicated to processing attention. Importantly, feature coding in the early stage could predict the attentional effect in the late stage. Together, our results suggest an intricate interplay between visual feature and attention coding in the primate brain, which can be attributed to the differential functional connectivity and neural networks engaged in these processes.

Lightweight ablative thermal protection materials (TPMs), which can resist long-term ablation in an oxidizing atmosphere, are urgently required for aerospace vehicles. Herein, carbon fabric/phenol-formaldehyde resin/siloxane aerogels (CF/PFA/SiA) nanocomposite with interpenetrating network multiscale structure was developed via simple and efficient sol-gel followed by atmospheric pressure drying. The ternary networks structurally interpenetrating in macro-, micron-, and the nanoscales, chemically cross-linking at the molecular scale, and silica layer generated by in situ heating synergistically bring about low density (∼0.3 g cm-3), enhanced mechanical properties, thermal stability, and oxidation resistance, and a low thermal conductivity of 81 mW m-1 K-1. More intriguingly, good thermal protection with near-zero surface recession at 1300 °C for 300 s and remarkable thermal insulation with a back-side temperature below 60 °C at 20 mm thickness. The interpenetrating network strategy can be extended to other porous components with excellent high-temperature properties, such as ZrO2 and SiC, which will facilitate the improvement of lightweight ablative TPMs. Moreover, it may open a new avenue for fabricating multifunctional binary, ternary, and even multiple interpenetrating network materials.

OBJECTIVE: This study aims to use structural equation modeling to explore the pathways and effect sizes of factors influencing the adherence of postoperative patients with digestive tract tumor to oral nutritional supplements, providing a theoretical basis for future nursing intervention measures. METHODS: A total of 300 postoperative patients with digestive tract tumor within 30 days after surgery were conveniently sampled. Surveys were conducted using a General Information Questionnaire, Morisky Medication Adherence Scale, Digestive System Tumor Patient Nutrition Knowledge-Attitude-Behavior Questionnaire, Multidimensional Social Perception Scale, Beliefs about Medical Questionnaire, and General Self-Efficacy Scale. Structural equation modeling was employed to analyze the factors and pathways affecting adherence with oral nutritional supplements. RESULTS: The adherence score of postoperative patients with digestive tract tumor to oral nutritional supplements was 1.61 ± 1.38. The structural equation model had a good fit (χ2/df = 2.685, GFI = 0.930, CFI = 0.913, AGFI = 0.887, IFI = 0.915, and RMSEA = 0.075). Nutrition knowledge, social support, medication beliefs, and self-efficacy were found to be factors influencing adherence with oral nutritional supplements in postoperative patients with digestive tract tumor, with total effects of 0.539, 0.264, 0.215, and 0.180, respectively. Nutrition knowledge indirectly affected adherence through self-efficacy and medication beliefs, while social support indirectly affected adherence through self-efficacy. CONCLUSION: Adherence with oral nutritional supplements in postoperative patients with digestive tract tumor is at a low level. Improving social support, enhancing patients nutrition knowledge, increasing self-efficacy, and strengthening medication beliefs are effective ways to improve patient adherence.

Cardiac arrest is a global health issue causing more deaths than many other diseases. Hypothermia therapy is commonly used to treat secondary brain injury resulting from cardiac arrest. Previous studies have shown that CIRP is induced in specific brain regions during hypothermia and inhibits mitochondrial apoptotic factors. However, the specific mechanisms by which hypothermia-induced CIRP exerts its anti-apoptotic effect are still unknown. This study aims to investigate the role of Cold-inducible RNA-binding protein (CIRP) in mitochondrial-associated endoplasmic reticulum membrane (MAM)-mediated Ca2+ transport during hypothermic brain resuscitation.We constructed a rat model of cardiac arrest and resuscitation and hippocampal neuron oxygen-glucose deprivation/reoxygenation model. We utilized shRNA transfection to interfere the expression of CIRP and observe the effect of CIRP on the structure and function of MAM.Hypothermia induced CIRP can reduce the apoptosis of hippocampal neurons, and improve the survival rate of rats. Hypothermia induced CIRP can reduce the expressions of calcium transporters IP3R and VDAC1 in MAM, reduce the concentration of calcium in mitochondria, decrease the expression of ROS, and stabilize the mitochondrial membrane potential. Immunofluorescence and immunocoprecipitation showed that CIRP could directly interact with IP3R-VDAC1 complex, thereby changing the structure of MAM, inhibiting calcium transportation and improving mitochondrial function in vivo and vitro.Both in vivo and in vitro experiments have confirmed that hypothermia induced CIRP can act on the calcium channel IP3R-VDAC1 in MAM, reduce the calcium overload in mitochondria, improve the energy metabolism of mitochondria, and thus play a role in neuron resuscitation. This study contributes to understanding hypothermia therapy and identifies potential targets for brain injury treatment.

In-situ construction of solid electrolyte interfaces (SEI) is an effective strategy to enhance the reversibility of zinc (Zn) anodes. However, in-situ SEI to afford high reversibility under high current density conditions (≥ 20 mA cm-2) is highly desired yet extremely challenging. Herein, we propose a dual reaction strategy of spontaneous electrostatic reaction and electrochemical decomposition for the in-situ construction of SEI, which is composed of organic-rich upper layer and inorganic-rich inner layer. Particularly, in-situ SEI performs as "growth binder" at small current density and "orientation regulator" at high current density, which significantly suppresses side reactions and dendrite growth. The in-situ SEI affords the record-breaking reversibility of Zn anode under practical conditions, Zn//Zn symmetric cells can stably cycle for over 1300 h and 400 h at current densities of 50 mA cm-2 and 100 mA cm-2, respectively, showcasing an exceptional cumulative capacity of 67.5 Ah cm-2. Furthermore, the practicality of this in-situ SEI is verified in Zn//PANI pouch cells with high mass loading of 25.48 mg cm-2. This work provides a universal strategy to design advanced SEI for practical Zn-ion batteries.

The combination of all-inorganic perovskites (PVSKs) and polymers allows for free-standing flexible optoelectronic devices. However, solubility difference of the PVSK precursors and concerns over the compatibility between polymer carriers and PVSKs imply a great challenge to incorporate different kinds of PVSKs into polymer matrices by the same manufacturing process. In this work, PVSK precursors are introduced into poly(2-hydroxyethyl acrylate) (PHEA) hydrogels in sequence, in which the PVSK-gel composites are achieved with full-color emissions by simply varying the precursor species. Moreover, it is found that CsBr has a higher interaction energy with the (111) plane of CsPbBr3 than the (110) plane; thus, the CsPbBr3 crystals with a shape of truncated cube and tetragon are observed during the CsPbBr3-Cs4PbBr6 phase transition over time. The PVSK-gel composites feature excellent bendability, elasticity, and stretchable deformation (tensile strain > 500%), which allows for 3D printing emissive customized stereoscopic architectures with shape-memory features.
