RESUMO

Unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) sprayers are widely utilized in commercial aerial application of plant protection products (PPPs) in East Asian countries due to their high flexibility, high efficiency and low cost, but spray drift can lead to low utilization of UAV sprayers application, environmental pollution and bystander exposure risk. Droplet size and spray volume are critical factors affecting spray drift. Currently, the high temperature and humidity environment under the influence of the tropical monsoon climate brings new challenges for UAV sprayers. Therefore, in this study, pesticides were simulated with seduction red solution, and spraying trials were conducted using the DJI commercial T40 UAV sprayers for a typical tropical crop, coconut. In this study, the spray drift distribution of droplets on the ground and in the air, as well as the bystander exposure risk, were comparatively analyzed using droplet size (VF, M, and C) and spray volume (75 L/hm2 and 60 L/hm2) as trial variables. The results indicated that the spray drift characteristics of UAV sprayers were significantly affected by droplet size and spray volume. The spray drift percentage was negatively correlated with the downwind distance and the sampling height. The smaller the droplet size, the farther the buffer zone distance, up to more than 30 m, and the cumulative drift percentage is also greater, resulting in a significant risk of spray drift. The reduction in spray volume helped to reduce the spray drift, and the cumulative drift percentage was reduced by 73.87 % with a droplet size of M. The region of the body where spray drift is deposited the most on bystanders is near chest height. This study provides a reference for the rational and safe use of multirotor UAV sprayers application operations in the tropics and enriches the spray drift database in the tropics.

RESUMO

Based on self-determination theory and adopting a person-oriented approach, we aimed to investigate the latent profiles of adolescent students' basic psychological needs and their associations with personal characteristics (gender, socioeconomic status) as well as school functioning (school affect, burnout, academic achievement). Latent profile analyses based on a group of 1521 Chinese high school students identified four need profiles: low satisfaction/moderate frustration, high satisfaction/low frustration, average all, and moderate satisfaction/high frustration. Furthermore, there were significant differences in students' school functioning among the four latent profiles. Specifically, students with moderate to high levels of need frustration were most likely to experience maladaptive school functioning, regardless of their need satisfaction level. Additionally, gender and socioeconomic status were significant predictors of profile membership. The findings of this study can assist educators in gaining a better understanding of the diverse patterns of psychological needs among students and help them to implement targeted interventions.

RESUMO

This study aims to investigate the moderating effects of various distance measures on the relationship between relative pandemic severity and bilateral tourism demand. After confirming its validity using actual hotel and air demand measures, we leveraged data from Google Destination Insights to understand daily bilateral tourism demand between 148 origin countries and 109 destination countries. Specifically, we estimated a series of fixed-effects panel data gravity models based on the year-over-year change in daily demand. Results show that a 10% increase in seven-day smoothed COVID-19 cases led to a 0.0658% decline in year-over-year demand change. The moderating distance measures include geographic, cultural, economic, social, and political distance. Results show that long-haul tourism demand was less affected by a destination's pandemic severity relative to tourists' place of origin. The moderating effect of national cultural dimensions indulgence versus constraints was also confirmed. Lastly, a discussion and implications for international destination marketing are provided.

RESUMO

The purpose of this contribution is to compute the popular Malmquist productivity index while adding a component representing plant capacity utilisation. In particular, this is-to the best of our knowledge-the first empirical application estimating both input- and output-oriented Malmquist productivity indices in conjunction with the corresponding input- and output-oriented plant capacity utilisation measures. Our empirical application focuses on a provincial data set of tourism activities in China over the period 2008-2016. The results contain the output- and input-oriented Malmquist productivity indices, some Spearman rank correlations between both, a t-test whether these indices differ from unity, and some bootstrapping analysis.
