RESUMO

In combustion research, laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS) has been widely employed in local equivalence ratio measurement. However, the potential temperature gradients in the probe volume can significantly affect the shape of induced plasmas, resulting in unstable measurement locations. In this work, we improved the stability of measurement locations by modulating the laser pulse duration. In a hot-cold gas flow interface with large temperature gradients, when using the original laser pulse with a full width at half maximum (FWHM) of 4 ns, the locations of initial plasma core were insensitive to gradient variations; however, the plasma expansion behaviors differed significantly after 3 ns. The hot spots of plasmas diverged bi-directionally under high temperature, resulting in two-lobe structures and unstable measurement locations. After the laser pulse was modulated to a shorter duration using a pressure chamber, the plasma expansion was suppressed which constrained the plasma volume. Specifically, using a modulated pulse with a FWHM of 1.9 ns, the two-lobe structure was eliminated across the interface, and the standard deviation of measurement locations was reduced to 0.27 mm. The measured equivalence ratios across the interface showed favorable agreement with the simulation.

RESUMO

Situated in the north of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, the Qaidam Basin experiences limited precipitation and significant evaporation. Despite these conditions, it stands out as one of the most densely distributed lakes in China. The formation of these lakes is controversial: whether the lake water primarily originates from local precipitation or external water sources. To address this issue, this paper explores the recharge sources of lakes in the Qaidam Basin and the circulation patterns of groundwater from a remote sensing perspective. Based on deep learning networks, we optimized the soft object regions of the Object-Contextual Representations Network (OCRNet) and proposed the Remote·Sensing Adaptive-Improved OCRNet (RSA-IOCRNet). Compared with seven other networks, RSA-IOCRNet obtained better experimental results and was used to construct an area sequence of 16 major lakes in the Qaidam Basin. Combined with multi-source data, the comprehensive analysis indicates no significant correlation between climatic factors and lake changes, while an obvious correlation between lakes and groundwater changes in the eastern Qaidam, consisting with the results of the field survey. Deep-circulating groundwater recharges numerous Qaidam lakes through upwelling from fault zones, such as Gasikule Lake and Xiaochaidan Lake. Groundwater in the Qaidam Basin is more depleted in hydrogen-oxygen isotope characteristics than surface water in the basin, but similar to some river water in the endorheic Tibetan Plateau. This indicates that Tibetan seepage water, estimated at approximately 540 billion m3/a, is transported through the Qaidam Basin via deep circulation. Moreover, it rises to recharge the groundwater and lakes within this basin through fracture zones, extending to various arid and semi-arid regions such as Taitema Lake. This work provides a new perspective on the impact of deep groundwater on lakes and water circulation in these areas.

RESUMO

Multi-exciton generation by multi-photon absorption under low-energy photons can be thought a reasonable method to reduce the risk of optical damage, especially in photoelectric quantum dot (QD) devices. The lifetime of the multi-exciton state plays a key role in the utilization of photon-induced carriers, which depends on the dynamics of the exciton generation process in materials. In this paper, the exciton generation dynamics of the photon absorption under low-frequency light in CdSe QDs are successfully detected and studied by the temporal resolution transient absorption (TA) spectroscopy method. Since the cooling time of hot excitons extends while the rate of auger recombination is accelerated when incident energy is increased, the filling time of defect states is irregular, and exciton generation experiences a transition from single-photon absorption to multi-photon absorption. This result shows how to change the excitation. Optical parameters can prolong the lifetime of excitons, thus fully extracting excitons and improving the photoelectric conversion efficiency of QD optoelectronic devices, which provides theoretical and experimental support for the development of QD optoelectronic devices.

RESUMO

Circadian genes play an important role in the field of drug metabolism. Flavin-containing monooxygenase 3 is a well-known phase I enzyme which participates in metabolism of many exogenous and endogenous substances, especially production of trimethylamine N-oxide. Here, we aimed to decipher diurnal rhythms of flavin-containing monooxygenase 3 expression and activity, and explore the regulation mechanism by clock genes. Our results showed that its mRNA and protein exhibited robust diurnal rhythms in mouse liver and cell lines. Consistently, significant alterations were observed for in vitro microsomal N-oxidation rates of procainamide, which kept in line with its protein expression at different time in wild-type and reverse erythroblastosis virus α knockout mice. Further, flavin-containing monooxygenase 3 was negatively regulated by E4 promoter-binding protein 4 in AML12 and Hepa1-6 cells, while it was positively influenced by reverse erythroblastosis virus α and brain and muscle ARNT-like protein-1. Moreover, luciferase reporter assays and electrophoretic mobility shift assays showed E4 promoter-binding protein 4 inhibited the transcription of flavin-containing monooxygenase 3 by binding to a D-box1 element (-1606/-1594 bp), while brain and muscle ARNT-like protein-1 positively activated the transcription via direct binding to three E-boxes (-863/-858 bp, -507/-498 bp, and -115/-104 bp) in this enzyme promoter. Taken together, this study would be helpful to reveal the mechanism of clock-controlled drug metabolism and facilitate the practice of chrono-therapeutics.

RESUMO

Oxidative stress and inflammation responses are closely related to the occurrence and development of many diseases. Therefore, anti-oxidation and anti-inflammation have become hot spots in the treatment of diseases. A series of novel resveratrol derivatives which hybrid with benzoylhydrazines were designed, synthesized and assessed for their in vitro antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activity. Initially, the antioxidant abilities of resveratrol derivatives were investigated by DPPH, ABTS radical scavenging and FRAP assays. RAW 264.7 macrophages are routinely used to evaluate the antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities of drugs, so we used it to construct cell models of oxidative stress and inflammation. Among all the derivatives, compound 5 exhibited superior ROS- and NO-inhibitory activities. The molecular mechanism detected by Western blotting showed that compound 5 could significantly activate the Nrf2 signaling pathway and up-regulate the expression of HO-1 to resist oxidative stress stimulated by H2O2. At the same time, it could down-regulate the expression of apoptosis-related proteins Caspase3 and PARP, alleviating cells damage and apoptosis. In addition, compound 5 dose-dependently inhibited the activation of NF-κB p65/iNOS and MAPKs signaling pathway.

RESUMO

The aim of this study is to systematically evaluate the effects of quality nursing on wound infections and postoperative complications in patients undergoing cardiothoracic surgery. Computerised searches of the PubMed, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, Embase, China Biomedical Literature Database, China National Knowledge Infrastructure and Wanfang databases were conducted from database inception to October 2023 for randomised controlled trials (RCTs) on the application of quality nursing to patients undergoing cardiothoracic surgery. The studies were screened and evaluated by two researchers based on the inclusion and exclusion criteria, and data were extracted from the included studies. Stata software (version 17.0) was used for all analyses performed. A total of 18 RCTs and 1742 patients were included, including 972 in the quality nursing group and 870 in the routine nursing group. The analysis revealed that compared with routine nursing, patients undergoing cardiothoracic surgery who received quality nursing care were significantly less likely to experience postoperative wound infections (OR = 0.31, 95% CI: 0.19-0.51, p < 0.001) and complications (OR = 0.24. 95% CI: 0.17-0.33, p < 0.001). The implementation of quality nursing in clinical care after cardiothoracic surgery can effectively reduce the incidence of wound infections and postoperative complications, and is worthy of promotion and clinical application.

RESUMO

The main objectives of neuromorphic engineering are the research, modeling, and implementation of neural functioning in the human brain. We provide a hardware solution that can replicate such a nature-inspired system by merging multiple scientific domains and is based on neural cell processes. This work provides a modified version of the original Fitz-Hugh Nagumo (FHN) neuron using a simple 2V term called Hybrid Piece-Wised Base-2 Model (HPWBM), which accurately reproduces numerous patterns of the original neuron model. With reduced terms, we suggest modifying the original nonlinear term to achieve high matching accuracy and little computing error. Time domain and phase portraits are used to validate the proposed model, which shows that it can reproduce all of the FHN model's properties with high accuracy and little mistake. We provide an effective digital hardware approach for large-scale neuron implementations based on resource-sharing and pipelining strategies. The Hardware Description Language (HDL) is used to construct the hardware on an FPGA as a proof of concept. The recommended model hardly uses 0.48 percent of the resources on a Virtex 4 FPGA board, according to the results of the hardware implementation. The circuit can run at a maximum frequency of 448.236 MHz, according to the static timing study.

RESUMO

Ginsenoside CK, a kind of rare ginsenoside transformed from protopanaxadiol saponins extracted from the genus Panax, has been proven to possess favorable bioactivities such as anti-inflammatory, anti-cancer, anti-diabetes, and hepatoprotective effects. The current study is targeted to determine the effect of ginsenoside CK on hepatitis induced by concanavalin A (Con A). Mice were treated with different dosages of ginsenoside CK for 7 days, and Con A (15 mg/kg) was intravenously injected to induce autoimmune hepatitis (AIH) after the last administration. The results demonstrated that pretreatment with ginsenoside CK (40 mg/kg) could obviously ameliorate the increase in serum indicators related to liver function such as AST, ALT, and ALP, and hepatic lesions induced by Con A. Meanwhile, ginsenoside CK suppressed hepatocyte apoptosis, which was observed in pathological data, and immunoblotting results showed that the expression of Bax, Bcl-2, and other proteins was regulated by CK. Furthermore, the release of inflammatory cytokines such as tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) and IL-6 in mice with AIH were lowered by the administration of 40 mg/kg of ginsenoside CK. Furthermore, ginsenoside CK elevated the gene expression of Nrf2 and Sirt1 and augmented downstream target genes such as HO-1. In addition, a significant inhibition effect of the TLR4/NF-κB signal was observed in 40 mg/kg CK-pretreated mice compared with the model group. To sum up, the results indicated that ginsenoside CK has a notable hepatoprotective effect against AIH by activating Sirt1/Nrf2 and suppressing the TLR4/NF-κB signaling pathway.

RESUMO

Point cloud registration is widely used in autonomous driving, SLAM, and 3D reconstruction, and it aims to align point clouds from different viewpoints or poses under the same coordinate system. However, point cloud registration is challenging in complex situations, such as a large initial pose difference, high noise, or incomplete overlap, which will cause point cloud registration failure or mismatching. To address the shortcomings of the existing registration algorithms, this paper designed a new coarse-to-fine registration two-stage point cloud registration network, CCRNet, which utilizes an end-to-end form to perform the registration task for point clouds. The multi-scale feature extraction module, coarse registration prediction module, and fine registration prediction module designed in this paper can robustly and accurately register two point clouds without iterations. CCRNet can link the feature information between two point clouds and solve the problems of high noise and incomplete overlap by using a soft correspondence matrix. In the standard dataset ModelNet40, in cases of large initial pose difference, high noise, and incomplete overlap, the accuracy of our method, compared with the second-best popular registration algorithm, was improved by 7.0%, 7.8%, and 22.7% on the MAE, respectively. Experiments showed that our CCRNet method has advantages in registration results in a variety of complex conditions.

RESUMO

In Phi29-α-hemolysin (α-HL) nanopore sequencing systems, a strong electrochemical signal is dependent on a high concentration of salt. However, high salt concentrations adversely affect polymerase activity. Sequencing by synthesis (SBS) requires the use of phi29 polymerase without exonuclease activity to prevent the degradation of modified nucleotide tags; however, the lack of exonuclease activity also affects polymerase processivity. This study aimed to optimize phi29 polymerase for improved salt tolerance and processivity while maintaining its lack of exonuclease activity to meet the requirements of nanopore sequencing. Using salt tolerance compartmentalized self-replication (stCSR) and a microfluidic platform, we obtained 11 mutant sites with enhanced salt tolerance attributes. Sequencing and biochemical analyses revealed that the substitution of conserved amino acids such as G197D, Y369E, T372N, and I378R plays a critical role in maintaining the processivity of exonuclease-deficient phi29 polymerase under high salt conditions. Furthermore, Y369E and T372N have been identified as important determinants of DNA polymerase binding affinity. This study provides insights into optimizing polymerase processability under high-salt conditions for real-time polymerase nanopore sequencing, paving the way for improved performance and applications in nanopore sequencing technologies.

RESUMO

In this study, we aimed to explore the potential targets and functional mechanisms of Rk1 combined with Rg5 (Rk1+Rg5) against type II diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Network pharmacology and molecular docking were used to predict and verify the targets and signaling pathways of Rk1+Rg5 against T2DM. The results were further confirmed by a db/db mouse model and a model using PA-induced L6 cells. According to network pharmacology, a total of 250 core targets of Rk1+Rg5 towards T2DM were identified; the insulin resistance signaling pathways were enriched by KEGG. Results of molecular docking indicated good binding affinity of Rk1 and Rg5 to Akt1. In vivo and in vitro studies further showed that Rk1+Rg5 is an inhibitor of skeletal muscle insulin resistance. The results showed that Rk1+Rg5 significantly improved the hyperglycemic state of db/db mice, alleviated dyslipidemia, and promoted skeletal muscle glucose uptake. This phenomenon was closely related to the alleviation of the insulin resistance in skeletal muscles. Finally, the combination activated the Akt signaling pathway and promoted GLUT4 translocation to the cell membrane for glucose uptake. Altogether, our findings, for the first time, demonstrate that the combination of Rk1 and Rg5 could be beneficial for anti-T2DM, possibly involving ameliorated insulin resistance.

RESUMO

Food allergy (FA) is acknowledged as a significant public health and food safety issue, due to its manifestation as an amplified immune reaction to food antigens. Recently, probiotics within Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium have been highlighted as a promising strategy against allergic disease by modulating the balance of Th1/Th2 responses. However, the allergy-alleviating effects of probiotic Leuconostoc mesenteroides strains are unknown. Therefore, this study investigated the potentials of eleven L. mesenteroides strains on the Th1/Th2 balance in vitro by evaluating the expression patterns of interferon-gamma (IFN-γ) (Th1 cytokine) and interleukin-4 (IL-4) (Th2 cytokine) in mesenteric lymph node-derived lymphocytes from ovalbumin (OVA)-sensitized mice. Among strains, WHH1141 incubation caused the highest IFN-γ/IL-4 ratio. Oral administration of WHH1141 (1 × 109  CFU/mL) in the OVA-induced FA mouse model for 40 days improved the weight loss and FA pathological symptoms and normalized the serum immunoglobulin E levels. Meanwhile, the OVA-induced elevated gene expressions of cytokines (IL-4, IL-5, and IL-13) and tight-junction proteins (ZO-1 and Occludin) and levels of cytokines (IL-4, IL-5, and IL-13) and histamine in the jejunum were restored by WHH1141. Furthermore, WHH1141 reversed the reduced gut microbial diversity and short-chain fatty acid (SCFA) levels, specifically increased Bacteroidota abundance, and decreased Firmicutes abundance in OVA-induced mice. Overall, these findings suggest that WHH1141 exerts FA-alleviating effects on OVA-induced mice, which is involved with the inhibition of the jejunal Th2 immune responses and the modulation of gut microbiome composition and SCFA productions. PRACTICAL APPLICATION: Leuconostoc mesenteroides WHH1141 with FA-alleviating potentials may be considered a promising approach in the mitigation of FA symptoms.

RESUMO

A series of pleuromutilin analogs containing substituted benzoxazole were designed, synthesised, and assessed for their antibacterial activity both in vivo and in vitro. The MIC of the synthesised derivatives was initially assessed using the broth dilution method against four strains of Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA ATCC 43300, S. aureus ATCC 29213, clinical isolation of S. aureus AD3 and S. aureus 144). Most of the synthesised derivatives displayed prominent in vitro activity (MIC ≤ 0.5 µg/mL). Compounds 50 and 57 exhibited the most effective antibacterial effect against MRSA (MIC = 0.125 µg/mL). Furthermore, the time-kill curves showed that compounds 50 and 57 had a certain inhibitory effect against MRSA in vitro. The in vivo antibacterial activity of compound 50 was evaluated further using a murine thigh model infected with MRSA (-1.24 log10CFU/mL). Compound 50 exhibited superior antibacterial efficacy to tiamulin. It was also found that compound 50 did not display significant inhibitory effect on the proliferation of RAW 264.7 cells. Molecular docking study revealed that compound 50 can effectively bind to the active site of the 50S ribosome (the binding free energy -7.50 kcal/mol).

RESUMO

A series of pleuromutilin derivatives containing benzimidazole were designed, synthesized, and evaluated for their antibacterial activities against Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) in this study. The in vitro antibacterial activities of the synthesized derivatives against four strains of S. aureus (MRSA ATCC 43300, S. aureus ATCC 29213, S. aureus 144, and S. aureus AD3) were determined by the broth dilution method. Among these derivatives, compound 58 exhibited superior in vitro antibacterial effect against MRSA (minimal inhibitory concentration [MIC] = 0.0625 µg/mL) than tiamulin (MIC = 0.5 µg/mL). Compound 58 possessed a faster bactericidal kinetic and a longer post-antibiotic effect time against MRSA than tiamulin. Meanwhile, at 8 µg/mL concentration, compound 58 did not display obviously cytotoxic effect on the RAW 264.7 cells. In addition, compound 58 (-2.04 log10 CFU/mL) displayed superior in vivo antibacterial efficacy than tiamulin (-1.02 log10 CFU/mL) in reducing MRSA load in mice thigh infection model. In molecular docking study, compound 58 can successfully attach to the 50S ribosomal active site (the binding free energy is -8.11 kcal/mol). Therefore, compound 58 was a potential antibacterial candidate for combating MRSA infections.

RESUMO

Clinical observations show that the current spinal fusion with internal fixation has a nonfusion rate of 5%-35%; however, methods to promote spinal fusion are limited. This study aimed to investigate the role of SDF-1-induced directional chemotaxis of BMSCs in bone marrow chimera spinal intervertebral fusion mouse model. BMSCs were isolated from bone marrow and identified by detecting CD44/CD34 positive cells. BMSCs (GFP-BMSCs) were labeled with GFP for tracking in vivo. Mice were inoculated with GFP-BMSCs to construct bone marrow chimera spinal intervertebral fusion model, which were divided into BM-SIF model, BM-SIF+SDF-1, BM-SIF+SDF-1-Anta group. The callus area of intervertebral fusion site was detected by radiology. HE staining was used to detect trabeculae formation. Expressions of osteogenic molecules and fibroblast markers were detected by RT-PCR and Western blotting. GFP-BMSCs showed obvious osteogenic and adipogenic differentiation ability, according to oil-red O and alizarin-red staining. Bone marrow chimera spinal intervertebral fusion mouse model was successfully established, with efficient localization of GFP-BMSCs at intervertebral fusion site. SDF-1 significantly promoted bone trabeculae formation in callus at intervertebral fusion site. SDF-1 significantly increased osteogenic molecules transcription/expression in callus at intervertebral bone graft fusion site of mice; however, SDF-1-Anta (AMD3100) significantly decreased osteogenic molecules transcrition/expression, compared to those of mice from the BM-SIF model group (p < 0.05). SDF-1 markedly induced and SDF-1-Anta significantly decreased fibroblast proliferations in the callus at the intervertebral fusion site of mice, compared to those of mice from the BM-SIF model group (p < 0.05). SDF-1 enhanced expression of Wnt10b and ß-catenin in callus at intervertebral fusion site of mice compared to mice of the BM-SIF model group (p < 0.05). In conclusion, SDF-1 induced directional chemotaxis of BMSCs to the intervertebral fusion site and promoted osteogenic differentiation in bone marrow chimera spinal intervertebral fusion mice by regulating Wnt/ß-catenin pathway and modulating the proliferation of BMSCs.

RESUMO

STUDY DESIGN: Retrospective Upright MRI Study. OBJECTIVES: Determine the relationship between lumbar disc herniation and presence of the nerve root sedimentation sign on upright kinematic MRI patients. METHODS: T2-weighted axial upright kMRI images of 100 patients with the presence of disc herniation in at least 1 lumbar disc between L1/L2 and L5/S1 were obtained. Sedimentation sign, spinal canal anterior-posterior (AP) diameter, disc height, disc herniation size, type of herniation, and zone of herniation were evaluated. A positive sedimentation sign was defined as having either the majority of nerve roots running ventrally or centrally in the canal or conglomeration of the nerve roots at the mid-disc level. Herniation types were defined as either no herniation, disc bulge, protrusion, extrusion, or sequestration. Zones of herniation were categorized as either central, lateral, or far lateral. RESULTS: The kappa value of intra-observer reliability was .915. The kappa value of disc levels with a negative sedimentation sign were seen more frequently (n = 326, 65.2%) than those with a positive sedimentation sign (n = 174, 34.8%). The spinal canal AP diameter was significantly decreased at the L3/L4 and L4/L5 level in patients with a positive sedimentation sign. Discs with a positive sedimentation sign had a larger average size of disc herniation compared to those with a negative sign at all levels. A relationship between positivity of the sedimentation sign and disc herniation type was significant at L2/L3, L3/L4, and L4/L5. CONCLUSIONS: Patients with a positive sedimentation sign were seen to have larger disc herniations and more severely degenerated discs.

RESUMO

Objective: The central mechanism of acupuncture for primary dysmenorrhea was explored by summarizing the changes in different regional networks of the brain induced by acupuncture stimulation by analyzing the existing studies. Methods: The original studies were collected and selected from three English databases such as PubMed and four Chinese databases as China Knowledge Network (CNKI). The main keyword clusters are neuroimaging, acupuncture, and primary dysmenorrhea. Results: The literature review yielded 130 possibly qualified studies, and 23 articles fulfilled the criteria for inclusion. Regarding the type of acupuncture studies, 6 moxibustion studies and 17 manual acupuncture studies for primary dysmenorrhea were included. Based on functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), perfusion-weighted imaging (PWI), and positron emission tomography-computer tomography techniques (PET-CT), one or more analysis methods such as amplitude of low-frequency fluctuations (ALFF), regional homogeneity (ReHo), functional connectivity (FC), and independent components analysis (ICA) were used. The results are summarized. To summarize the high-frequency brain area alterations observed in patients with acupuncture-induced primary dysmenorrhea were the anterior cingulate gyrus, thalamus, insula, precentral gyrus, middle frontal gyrus, postcentral gyrus, putamen, and cerebellum. Conclusion: The results suggest that the mechanism of acupuncture in the treatment of primary dysmenorrhea is the involvement of networks regulating different areas of the brain in the analgesic effects of acupuncture. The brain regions involved in primary dysmenorrhea acupuncture analgesia were mainly located in the pain matrix, default mode network, salience network, and limbic system.

RESUMO

Previous studies have shown that superior developmental feedback (SDF) has a mixed impact on employees' long-term development, but its effect on job satisfaction (JS) has been generally ignored. Therefore, this study proposes and tests a model based on the conservation of resources theory to shed light on how feedback from a leader or superior may increase employees' JS. In this study, researchers analyzed responses from a two-stage questionnaire distributed to 296 employees to test the proposed hypotheses using MPlus 7.4 software. The results show that employee resilience (ER) partially mediates the link between SDF and JS. The results also indicate that the relationship between SDF and ER is strengthened by job complexity (JC). The results provide novel avenues for further study and practice in the areas of SDF and JS.

RESUMO

Background: The number of people suffering from dementia is increasing rapidly in China. Early identification, referral, and intervention for dementia patients within communities are important to public health. However, these measures could be impacted by misconceptions about dementia and associated psychiatric stigma from community health professionals and relatives of dementia patients. Methods: A cross-sectional survey was conducted on 249 participants, which included community doctors, community nurses, and relatives of diagnosed and suspected dementia patients in Guiyang, China. Participants were recruited through convenient sampling. The Chinese version of Dementia Knowledge Assessment Scale (DKAS) and the Perceived Psychiatric Stigma Scale (PPSS) were used to evaluate the participants' knowledge of dementia and dementia-related psychiatric stigma. Results: A total of 249 participants completed the questionnaire. The participants had moderate overall knowledge of dementia and the associated psychiatric stigma. Participants who were ≥45 years old, had a low level of education, had a low monthly income, or gained knowledge of dementia through non-media channels had lower awareness of dementia and stronger psychiatric stigma. In the "Communication & behavior" subscale of DKAS, all participants had a low level of awareness. Relatives of diagnosed and suspected dementia patients had higher total PPSS and "Marital preclusion" subscale scores than community doctors and nurses but lower psychiatric stigma based on the PPSS "Self-deprecation" subscale score. Conclusions: Despite their profession, community doctors and nurses did not show an absolute advantage over relatives of diagnosed and suspected dementia patients in the dementia knowledge, and they even showed higher psychiatric stigma in some subscales. The self-deprecation subscale is related to the identification with negative labels such as "people with a mental illness are the weak". This study shows that reducing stigma on the "Self-deprecation" subscale should be a core component of training and educational programs targeted at improving dementia knowledge among community health service providers.

RESUMO

Cost-effective electrochemical water splitting technology hinges on the development of efficient and durable catalysts for oxygen evolution reaction (OER). Spinel oxides (formula: AxB3-xO4) are structurally stable for real applications. Much effort has been devoted to improving the catalytic activity. Here, we report a eutectic dealloying strategy to activate the porous spinel NiFe2O4 nanowires with up to four metal cation substitutions. As-obtained spinel NiFeXO4 (X = Fe, Ni, Al, Mo, Co, Cr) delivers a benchmark current density of 10 mA·cm-2 at an overpotential of only 195 mV, outperforming most spinel phase OER electrocatalysts and comparable to the state-of-the-art NiFe hydroxides. It is stable for over 115 h of electrolysis. Aberration-corrected transmission electron microscopy, high-resolution electron energy loss spectroscopy, and atomic-scale strain mappings reveal that the multivalent cation substitutions result in substantial lattice distortion and significant electronic coupling of metal 3d and O 2p orbitals for increased covalency. Further theoretical calculations suggest that the NiFeXO4 are stabilized by the high configurational entropy, and their synergy favors the absorption of H2O molecules and lowers the adsorption energy barrier of the OOH* intermediate. The improved intrinsic activity together with the highly nanoporous structures contribute to the appealing apparent catalytic performances. The work demonstrates an effective approach for the synthesis of stable multicomponent spinel oxides and highlights the effectiveness of the multication substitution strategy for producing highly durable and active spinel catalysts, which meet multiplexed structure and superior property requirements in practical applications.
