RESUMO

A wideband low-scattering metasurface with optical transparency and flexibility is proposed by using the combination of phase cancellation and absorption mechanisms. Electromagnetic (EM) diffusion is achieved through the random phase distribution design of the two coding elements. The enhanced energy absorption can be obtained in a wide spectrum by using indium tin oxide (ITO) with suitable sheet resistance in the supercells. The experimental results show that the radar cross section (RCS) reductions of less than -10 dB under the planar and conformal cases are in 6.65-19.40 GHz and 6.11-17.37 GHz, corresponding relative bandwidth are 97.89% and 95.91%, respectively. Both theoretical analysis and simulated results are good accordance with the experiment. Furthermore, the analyses of the surface current, EM field distribution and power loss density are given to explain the hybrid RCS reduction mechanism. The proposed composite transparent flexible coding metasurface (CTFCM) maintains good angular stability within 0°-60° oblique incidence and has polarization insensitivity. The CTFCM has excellent flexibility and high optical transparency, which provides a way to reduce RCS in a wider band and has important application potential for stealth aircraft cockpit and transparent radome.

RESUMO

Six 8-oxoprotoberberines were synthesized collectively in four steps with acceptable yields (14-19%), of which the products 8-oxopalmatine, 8-oxopseudopalmatine, 8-oxoberberine, and 8-oxopseudoberberine come from nature. The synthetic route was featured with the In(OTf)3-catalyzed cyclization and Heck coupling. Moreover, the syntheses of the natural products berberine, canadine, and iambertine were achieved via various reductions from 8-oxoberberine, which provided a concise approach to the syntheses of this kind of alkaloids.

RESUMO

Mitosis is a complicated and ordered process with high energy demands and metabolite fluxes. Cytosolic creatine kinase (CK), an enzyme involved in ATP homeostasis, has been shown to be essential to chromosome movement during mitotic anaphase in sea urchin. However, it remains elusive for the molecular mechanism underlying the recruitment of cytosolic CK by the mitotic apparatus. In this study, Fam96b/MIP18, a component of the MMXD complex with a function in Fe/S cluster supply, was identified as a brain-type CK (CKB)-binding protein. The binding of Fam96b with CKB was independent of the presence of CKB substrates and did not interfere with CKB activity. Fam96b was prone to oligomerize via the formation of intermolecular disulfide bonds, while the binding of enzymatically active CKB could modulate Fam96b oligomerization. Oligomerized Fam96b recruited CKB and the MMXD complex to associate with the mitotic spindle. Depletion of Fam96b or CKB by siRNA in the HeLa cells led to mitotic defects, which further resulted in retarded cell proliferation, increased cell death and aberrant cell cycle progression. Rescue experiments indicated that both Fam96b oligomerization and CKB activity were essential to the proper formation of mitotic spindle. These findings suggest that Fam96b may act as a scaffold protein to coordinate the supply and homeostasis of ATP and Fe/S clusters during mitosis.

RESUMO

Asymmetric total synthesis of neobraclactone C was finished for the first time using the convergent synthetic strategy in 22 steps in the longest linear sequence from known materials. The key steps include a steric hindrance/hydrogen bond dual-controlled Heck arylation of α,ß-unsaturated ketone to construct hemiketal and cis-alkenyl in one step and a CeCl3-catalyzed tricycle formation.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Children are disproportionately affected by climate change while evidence regarding their adaptive behavior and relevant influencing factors is limited. OBJECTIVES: We attempted to investigate health-related adaptive behavior towards climate change for primary school children in China and explore potential influencing factors. METHODS: We conducted a survey of 8322 primary school children in 12 cities across China. Knowledge, attitude, risk perception, and adaptive behavior scores for children were collected using a designed questionnaire. Weather exposures of cities were collected from 2014 to 2018. We applied a multiple linear regression and mixed-effect regression to assess the influencing factors of adaptive behavior. We also used the structural equation model (SEM) to validate the theoretical framework of adaptive behavior. RESULTS: Most children (76.1%) were aware of climate change. They mainly get information from television, smartphones, and the Internet. A 1 score increase in knowledge, attitude, and risk perception was associated with 0.210, 0.386, and 0.160 increase in adaptive behavior scores, respectively. Females and children having air conditioners or heating systems at home were positively associated with adaptive behavior. Exposure to cold and rainstorms increased the adaptive behavior scores, while heat exposure had the opposite effects. The SEM showed that knowledge was positively associated with attitude and risk perception. Knowledge, attitude, and risk perception corresponded to 31.6%, 22.8%, and 26.1% changes of adaptive behavior, respectively. CONCLUSION: Most primary school children in China were aware of climate change. Knowledge, attitude, risk perception, cold, and rainstorm exposure were positively associated with health-related adaptive behavior towards climate change.

RESUMO

Background: Many studies have shown that various kinds of diseases were associated with the variation of ambient temperature. However, there's only a scrap of evidence paying attention to the link between temperature and skin diseases, and no relevant national research was performed in China. Objective: This study aimed to quantify the effect of heat on skin diseases and identify the vulnerable populations and areas in China. Methods: Daily meteorological data, air pollutant data and outpatient data were collected from in 18 sites of China during 2014-2018. A time-series study with distributed lag nonlinear model and multivariate meta-analysis was applied to analyze the site-specific and pooled associations between daily mean temperature and daily outpatient visits of skin diseases by using the data of warm season (from June to September). Stratified analysis by age, sex and climate zones and subtypes of skin diseases were also conducted. Results: We found a positive linear relationship between the ambient temperature and risk of skin diseases, with a 1.25% (95%CI: 0.34%, 2.16%) increase of risk of outpatient visits for each 1 °C increase in daily mean temperature during the warm season. In general, groups aged 18-44 years, males and people living in temperate climate regions were more susceptible to high temperature. Immune dysfunction including dermatitis and eczema were heat-sensitive skin diseases. Conclusions: Our findings suggested that people should take notice of heat-related skin diseases and also provided some references about related health burden for strategy-makers. Targeted measures for vulnerable populations need to be taken to reduce disease burden, including monitoring and early warning systems, and sun-protection measures.

RESUMO

What is already known on this topic? The health risk caused by high-temperatures depends on the interaction between high temperature exposure and the sensitivity and adaptability of the affected populations. What is added by this report? A comprehensive assessment model was established by principal component analysis using the data of 19 cities, 15 provincial-level administrative divisions and used to identify regional characteristics and major influencing factors of health vulnerability to extreme heat in China. What are the implications for public health practice? The results of the health vulnerability assessment could effectively identify the regions highly vulnerable to extreme heat in China and provide scientific evidence for the development of adaptive measures and resource allocation plans.

RESUMO

N-Fluorobenzenesulfonimide (NFSI) was identified for the first time as a highly effective Ag(i)-catalyst attenuator in the annulation of a tryptamine-derived ynesulfonamide to azepino[4,5-b]indole derivatives. Substrate tolerances were examined thoroughly and a plausible mechanism was proposed. The interaction between the Ag(i) catalyst and NFSI was probed by density functional theory (DFT) calculations. This study provided a highly efficient method to synthesize azepino[4,5-b]indole derivatives.

RESUMO

A multifaceted gold(i)-catalyzed aromaticity-driven double 6-endo cascade cyclization strategy to synthesize both 12H-benzo[a]xanthen-12-ones and benzo[a]acridin-12(7H)-ones, whose core motifs xanthone and acridone both exist as important scaffolds in an immense number of bioactive compounds, was developed. The scopes of this strategy were examined by using a batch of synthetic 1,3-diphenylprop-2-yn-1-one substrates. To probe the mechanism of this cyclization a control experiment for synthesizing intermediates was performed. Thus, a putative mechanism was determined according to this experiment and previous studies.

RESUMO

A microwave-irradiated solvent-free pinacol rearrangement of hydrobenzoin substrates catalyzed by a combination of N-fluorobenzenesulfonimide and FeCl3·6H2O was developed. Its selectivity was first investigated by density functional theory (DFT) calculations. Then the functional group tolerance was examined by synthesizing a series of substrates designed based on the insight provided by the DFT calculations. The application of the methodology was demonstrated by the efficient one-pot synthesis of (±)-latifine and (±)-cherylline, both are 4-aryltetrahydroisoquinoline alkaloids isolated from Amaryllidacecae plants.

RESUMO

Ynamides, as versatile synthetic precursors, have attracted much attention from synthetic chemists and sparked the development of a number of methodologies for the construction of various structures. 1H-Pyrrolo[2,3-d]carbazole is a core scaffold of a series of monoterpene indole alkaloids found in Kopsia, Strychnos, and Aspidosperma, for example. In this study, 1H-pyrrolo[2,3-d]carbazole derivatives were synthesized by a Brønsted acid-catalyzed tandem cyclization starting from tryptamine-based ynamides. This strategy prevented Wagner-Meerwein rearrangement by instantaneous intramolecular nucleophilic trapping of the indoleninium to afford a tetracyclic indoline via an in situ-formed enol species induced by the formation of a more stable conjugate diene moiety. The functional group tolerances were investigated by using a series of readily available substrates. A plausible mechanism has been proposed based on the evidence of the capture of the hemiaminal intermediate. Lastly, a Büchi ketone, which is the pivotal intermediate in the synthesis of the indole alkaloid vindorosine, was synthesized by utilizing our newly developed methodology.

RESUMO

A cascade [3,3]-sigmatropic rearrangement/aromatization strategy to the synthesis of 2-(3-methylbenzofuran-2-yl)phenol derivatives was developed and applied to the collective syntheses of seven 2-arylbenzofuran-containing natural products, namely glycybenzofuran, glycyuralin E, lespedezol A1, puerariafuran, 7,2',4'-trihydroxy-3-benzofurancarboxylic acid, coumestrol, and 4'-O-methylcoumestrol. Among them, the total syntheses of glycybenzofuran, glycyuralin E, puerariafuran, 7,2',4'-trihydroxy-3-benzofurancarboxylic acid, and 4'-O-methylcoumestrol were reported for the first time. The practicality of this novel strategy in preparation of the key intermediates was demonstrated by performing the reaction on gram scale and by synthesizing a series of natural products with 2-(3-methylbenzofuran-2-yl)phenol scaffolds in a common strategy.

RESUMO

Regulation of mRNA fates can alter the gene-expression profile promptly and specifically. Deadenylation is a process of which the poly(A) tail is degraded by deadenylases. By regulating mRNA turnover, deadenylases are involved in various vital cellular processes including stress responses. However, it is unclear whether deadenylases play a role in the adaption/tolerance of extremophiles. In this research, we cloned the deadenylase caf1 from Dunaliella salina (dscaf1), a unicellular green alga with exceptional halotolerance. In silicon analysis indicated that compared with the mesophilic alga Chlamydomonas reinhardtii caf1, dscaf1 promoter contained more elements responsive to abiotic stresses. Dscaf1 had an extremely high expression level under hypersaline conditions. When the D. salina cells were subject to stress shock, a two-stage response was observed for dscaf1 expression. The mRNA level of dscaf1 had an immediate 2-4 fold increase and followed by an ∼10 fold increase after hyperosmotic, heat or UV treatment, while had an about 3 fold increase quickly followed by an abrupt decrease after hypoosmotic or cold shock. The dissimilarity in dscaf1 expression patterns suggested that DsCaf1 is a stress-responsive deadenylase with the ability to regulate fates of a specific group of mRNAs for a certain type of stress.
