RESUMO

Heparan sulfate (HS) meshes within the glycocalyx on cell surfaces have protein recognition ability and have been crucial for gaining insights into vital bioprocesses, such as viral infection, cancer development, and inflammation. The protein recognition ability is determined by the mesh property and compositions of HS, although little attention has been paid to the effect of the mesh property on the recognition. An in-depth specificity study of protein-HS-mesh recognition is essential to illustrate related biological functions. Here, ordered porous layer interferometry is applied to study the interaction behavior between mimicked HS meshes and lactoferrin (LF). Our work aimed at mimicking HS meshes with heparin, a widely used substitute of HS, and analyzing the specific LF-heparin-mesh interaction mechanism by inhibiting the nonspecific interaction in a blended sample. We found that the counterion release-based electrostatic interaction is dominant in the specific LF-heparin-mesh recognition. Furthermore, we detail the contributions of nonspecific and specific interactions to the recognition. We illustrate that the concentrated charge distribution of the proteins appears to be primarily related to this robust, specific recognition.

Type 1 diabetes (T1D) is a specific autoimmune disease related to genetic and autoimmune factors. Recent studies have found that the intestinal flora is one of the important environmental factors in the development of T1D. The gut microbiota is the largest microbiota in the human body and has a significant impact on material and energy metabolism. Related studies have found that the intestinal floras of T1D patients are unbalanced. Compared with normal patients, the abundance of beneficial bacteria is reduced, and various pathogenic bacteria are significantly increased, affecting the occurrence and development of diabetes. Medicinal and food homologous traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) has a multicomponent, multitarget, and biphasic regulatory effect. Its chemical composition can increase the abundance of beneficial bacteria, improve the diversity of the intestinal flora, reduce blood sugar, and achieve the purpose of preventing and treating T1D by regulating the intestinal flora and its metabolites. Therefore, based on a review of T1D, intestinal flora, and TCM derived from medicine and food, this review describes the relationship between T1D and the intestinal flora, as well as the research progress of TCM interventions for T1D through regulation of the intestinal flora. Medicine and food homologous TCM has certain advantages in treating diabetes and regulating the intestinal flora. It can be seen that there is still great research space and broad development prospects for the treatment of diabetes by regulating the intestinal flora with drug and food homologous TCM.

Attributing to their broad pharmacological effects encompassing anti-inflammation, antitoxin, and immunosuppression, glucocorticoids (GCs) are extensively utilized in the clinic for the treatment of diverse diseases such as lupus erythematosus, nephritis, arthritis, ulcerative colitis, asthma, keratitis, macular edema, and leukemia. However, long-term use often causes undesirable side effects, including metabolic disorders-induced Cushing's syndrome (buffalo back, full moon face, hyperglycemia, etc.), osteoporosis, aggravated infection, psychosis, glaucoma, and cataract. These notorious side effects seriously compromise patients' quality of life, especially in patients with chronic diseases. Therefore, glucocorticoid-based advanced drug delivery systems for reducing adverse effects have received extensive attention. Among them, prodrugs have the advantages of low investment, low risk, and high success rate, making them a promising strategy. In this review, we propose the strategies for the design and summarize current research progress of glucocorticoid-based prodrugs in recent decades, including polymer-based prodrugs, dendrimer-based prodrugs, antibody-drug conjugates, peptide-drug conjugates, carbohydrate-based prodrugs, aliphatic acid-based prodrugs and so on. Besides, we also raise issues that need to be focused on during the development of glucocorticoid-based prodrugs. This review is expected to be helpful for the research and development of novel GCs and prodrugs.

Purpose: This study aimed to explore the clinical characteristics and evaluate the different types of thyroid dysfunction in babies with neonatal hyperthyroidism. Methods: The clinical data of 19 neonates with hyperthyroidism admitted to the Children's Hospital of Chongqing Medical University between January 2012 and April 2021 were retrospectively analyzed. Results: Fifteen (78.9%) infants were born to mothers with Graves' disease. Eleven (57.9%) infants were premature; two babies were born at small for gestational age. The age at diagnosis ranged from 3 to 34 days, with a mean of 18.53 ± 6.85 days. The majority of the babies presented with goiter (84.2%) and tachycardia (94.7%) after birth. Nine (47.4%) of them presented with abnormal weight gain, seven (36.8%) presented with stare or ocular protrusion, six (31.6%) presented with hyperexcitability, four (21.1%) presented with jaundice and liver dysfunction, two (10.5%) presented with sweating, one (5.3%) presented with fever, and one case presented without any symptoms. Transient hyperthyroidism was the main thyroid dysfunction in our study. Overt hyperthyroidism was diagnosed in 13 (68.4%) neonates. Another three babies (15.8%) presented with hyperthyroidism with slightly elevated free triiodothyronine levels, normal thyroxine (T4) levels, and low thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) levels. Normal thyroid hormone levels with low TSH levels were observed in three (15.8%) neonates. Ten children were treated with antithyroid drugs. Eighteen children recovered normal thyroid function at 1-3 months of age; one baby in the study group required further levothyroxine supplementation due to primary hypothyroidism (HT). One child was found to have developmental delay at 2 years of age during follow-up. Conclusions: Our study highlights the need for prolonged monitoring of thyroid function in suspected patients. A single normal screening for hyperthyroidism or the absence of a maternal history of hyperthyroidism cannot exclude this disease.

This research presents an innovative reflective fiber optic probe structure, mutinously designed to detect H7N9 avian influenza virus gene precisely. This innovative structure skillfully combines multimode fiber (MMF) with a thin-diameter seven-core photonic crystal fiber (SCF-PCF), forming a semi-open Fabry-Pérot (FPI) cavity. This structure has demonstrated exceptional sensitivity in light intensity-refractive index (RI) response through rigorous theoretical and experimental validation. The development of a quasi-distributed parallel sensor array, which provides temperature compensation during measurements, has achieved a remarkable RI response sensitivity of up to 532.7 dB/RIU. The probe-type fiber optic sensitive unit, expertly functionalized with streptavidin, offers high specificity in detecting H7N9 avian influenza virus gene, with an impressively low detection limit of 10-2 pM. The development of this biosensor marks a significant development in biological detection, offering a practical engineering solution for achieving high sensitivity and specificity in light-intensity-modulated biosensing. Its potential for wide-ranging applications in various fields is now well-established.

Background: Limited research has explored the association between dietary soy products and colorectal polyps and adenomas, with insufficient attention given to cooking methods and subtypes of polyps. This study aimed to comprehensively assess the relationship between soy intake, its cooking methods, and the risk of colorectal polyps and adenomas within a high-incidence population of colorectal cancer (CRC) in China. Methods: Data were derived from 14,903 participants aged 40-80 years, enrolled in the extended Lanxi Pre-colorectal Cancer Cohort (LP3C) between March 2018 and December 2022. This cross-sectional study is based on the participants' baseline information. Long-term dietary information was collected through a validated food frequency questionnaire (FFQ), and colorectal polyps and adenomas were identified through electronic colonoscopy. Employing multivariate logistic regression, results were expressed as odds ratios (ORs) with their corresponding 95% confidence intervals (95% CIs). Results: 4,942 cases of colorectal polyps and 2,678 cases of adenomas were ascertained. A significant positive association was found between total soy intake and the occurrence of polyps/adenomas. Considering cooking methods, a notable increase in polyp risk was associated with the consumption of fried soys while no association was detected for boiled or marinated soys. Furthermore, total soy intake demonstrated associations with large and multiple polyps, polyps Yamade-typed less than II, and polyps across all anatomical subsites. Conclusion: Within the high-risk CRC population in China, increased soy product intake was linked to a higher risk of polyps, primarily attributed to the consumption of fried soys. This suggests that modifying cooking methods to avoid fried soys may serve as a preventive strategy for colorectal polyps.

To improve the efficiency of the methanol oxidation reaction (MOR) in direct methanol fuel cells (DMFCs), it is essential to develop catalysts with high catalytic activity. However, constructing polyatomic doped carbon nanomaterials and understanding the interaction mechanisms between dopant elements remain significant challenges. In this study, we propose nitrogen-doped carbon nanobox (CNB) derived from Zeolitic Imidazolate Framework-67 (ZIF-67) crystals as precursors to serve as carriers for highly efficient platinum nanoparticles (Pt NPs). We synthesized platinum/poly(3,4-propylenedioxythiophene)/carbon nanobox (Pt/PProDOT/CNB) composites by wrapping CNB around PProDOT films via in situ oxidative polymerization. This unique structural design provides several advantages to the catalyst, including a large active surface area, numerous accessible electrocatalytic active centers, an optimized electronic structure, and good electronic conductivity. The Pt/PProDOT/CNB composites demonstrated excellent methanol oxidation performance, with a remarkable mass activity (MA) of 1639.9 mA mg-1Pt and a high electrochemical active surface area (ECSA) of 160.8 m2/g. Furthermore, the catalyst exhibited good CO resistance and outstanding durability.

BACKGROUND: Areca nut polyphenols (AP) that extracted from areca nut, have been demonstrated for their potential of anti-fatigue effects. However, the underlying mechanisms for the anti-fatigue properties of AP has not been fully elucidated to date. Previous studies have predominantly concentrated on single aspects, such as antioxidation and anti-inflammation, yet have lacked comprehensive multi-dimensional analyses. PURPOSE: To explore the underlying mechanism of AP in exerting anti-fatigue effects. METHODS: In this study, we developed a chronic sleep deprivation-induced fatigue model and used physiological, hematological, and biochemical indicators to evaluate the anti- fatigue efficacy of AP. Additionally, a multi-omics approach was employed to reveal the anti-fatigue mechanisms of AP from the perspective of microbiome, metabolome, and proteome. RESULTS: The detection of physiology, hematology and biochemistry index indicated that AP markedly alleviate mice fatigue state induced by sleep deprivation. The 16S rRNA sequencing showed the AP promoted the abundance of probiotics (Odoribacter, Dubosiella, Marvinbryantia, and Eubacterium) and suppressed harmful bacteria (Ruminococcus). On the other hand, AP was found to regulate the expression of colonic proteins, such as increases of adenosine triphosphate (ATP) synthesis and mitochondrial function related proteins, including ATP5A1, ATP5O, ATP5L, ATP5H, NDUFA, NDUFB, NDUFS, and NDUFV. Serum metabolomic analysis revealed AP upregulated the levels of anti-fatigue amino acids, such as taurine, leucine, arginine, glutamine, lysine, and l-proline. Hepatic proteins express levels, especially tricarboxylic acid (TCA) cycle (CS, SDHB, MDH2, and DLST) and redox-related proteins (SOD1, SOD2, GPX4, and PRDX3), were significantly recovered by AP administration. Spearman correlation analysis uncovered the strong correlation between microbiome, metabolome and proteome, suggesting the anti-fatigue effects of AP is attribute to the energy homeostasis and redox balance through gut-liver axis. CONCLUSION: AP increased colonic ATP production and improve mitochondrial function by regulating gut microbiota, and further upregulated anti-fatigue amino acid levels in the blood. Based on the gut-liver axis, AP upregulated the hepatic tricarboxylic acid cycle and oxidoreductase-related protein expression, regulating energy homeostasis and redox balance, and ultimately exerting anti-fatigue effects. This study provides insights into the anti-fatigue mechanisms of AP, highlighting its potential as a therapeutic agent.

The study utilized 5-ALA-PDT to treat patients with CIN or VaIN and assessed their clinical response, HPV clearance, and influencing factors after photodynamic therapy (PDT). This study involved 56 patients who received 5-ALA-PDT in a single center from May 2020 to March 2022, including 12 patients with CIN, 30 patients with VaIN, and 14 patients with both CIN and VaIN. Follow-up were conducted within 6 and 12 months after treatment to evaluate the clinical effectiveness of PDT. The assessment criteria included histological response (ER, elimination rate, RR, regression rate) and HPV clearance. Additionally, factors that could potentially influence the outcomes were analyzed. After PDT, the histological response showed an ER of 48.2% (27/56) and a RR of 80.4% (45/56) within 6 months of follow-up. The elimination rate increased to 69.6% (39/56) within 12 months, along with a regression rate of 82.1% (46/56). The rates of HPV clearance were observed to be 37.5% (21/56) and 44.6% (25/56) within 6 and 12 months, respectively. The study also revealed that HPV clearance significantly influenced histologic elimination within 6 months (p < 0.001) and histologic regression within 12 months (p < 0.01). Furthermore, premenopausal women exhibited a higher HPV clearance rate compared to postmenopausal women (61.5% vs. 30.0%, p = 0.036). 5-ALA PDT can be considered as an available option for the treatment of lower genital squamous intraepithelial lesions. The efficacy of its histologic response depends on HPV clearance. Additionally, it has been found that premenopausal women may benefit more from this treatment.

Ultrafast electron pulses, generated through femtosecond photoexcitation in nanocathode materials, introduce high-frequency characteristics and ultrahigh temporal-spatial resolution to vacuum micro-nano electronic devices. To advance the development of ultrafast electron sources sensitive to polarized light, we propose an ultrafast pulsed electron source based on a vertical few-layer graphene cold cathode. This source exhibits selective electron emission properties for varying polarization angles, with high switching ratios of 277 (at 0°) and 235 (at 90°). The electron emission of the graphene evolves from cosine to sine as the polarization angle increases from 0° to 90°. The variation of electron emission current with polarization angle is intrinsically related to light absorption, local field enhancement, and photothermal conversion efficiency. A physical mechanism model and semiempirical expression were presented to reveal the MPP and PTE mechanisms at different polarization angles. This tunable conversion between mechanisms indicates potential applications in tunable ultrafast optoelectronic devices.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE: Doxorubicin is widely used in the treatment of malignant tumours, but doxorubicin-induced cardiotoxicity severely limits its clinical application. Spexin is a neuropeptide that acts as a novel biomarker in cardiovascular disease. However, the effects of spexin on doxorubicin-induced cardiotoxicity is unclear. EXPERIMENTAL APPROACH: We established a model of doxorubicin-induced cardiotoxicity both in vivo and in vitro. Levels of cardiac damage in mice was assessed through cardiac function assessment, determination of serum cardiac troponin T and CKMB levels and histological examination. CCK8 and PI staining were used to assess the doxorubicin-induced toxicity in cultures of cardiomyocytes in vitro. Ferroptosis was assessed using FerroOrange staining, determination of MDA and 4-HNE content and ferroptosis-associated proteins SLC7A11 and GPX4. Mitochondrial membrane potential and lipid peroxidation levels were measured using TMRE and C11-BODIPY 581/591 probes, respectively. Myocardial autophagy was assessed by expression of P62 and Beclin1. KEY RESULTS: Spexin treatment improved heart function of mice with doxorubicin-induced cardiotoxicity, and attenuated doxorubicin-induced cardiotoxicity by decreasing iron accumulation, abnormal lipid metabolism and inhibiting ferroptosis. Interestingly, doxorubicin caused excessive autophagy in cardiomyocyte in culture, which could be alleviated by treatment with spexin. Knockdown of Beclin 1 eliminated the protective effects of spexin in mice with DIC. CONCLUSION AND IMPLICATIONS: Spexin ameliorated doxorubicin-induced cardiotoxicity by inhibiting excessive autophagy-induced ferroptosis, suggesting that spexin could be a drug candidate against doxorubicin-induced cardiotoxicity. Beclin 1 might be critical in mediating the protective effect of spexin against doxorubicin-induced cardiotoxicity.

Purpose: It is difficult to differentiate between primary central nervous system lymphoma and primary glioblastoma due to their similar MRI findings. This study aimed to assess whether pharmacokinetic parameters derived from dynamic contrast-enhanced MRI could provide valuable insights for differentiation. Methods: Seventeen cases of primary central nervous system lymphoma and twenty-one cases of glioblastoma as confirmed by pathology, were retrospectively analyzed. Pharmacokinetic parameters, including Ktrans, Kep, Ve, and the initial area under the Gd concentration curve, were measured from the enhancing tumor parenchyma, peritumoral parenchyma, and contralateral normal parenchyma. Statistical comparisons were made using Mann-Whitney U tests for Ve and Matrix Metallopeptidase-2, while independent samples t-tests were used to compare pharmacokinetic parameters in the mentioned regions and pathological indicators of enhancing tumor parenchyma, such as vascular endothelial growth factor and microvessel density. The pharmacokinetic parameters with statistical differences were evaluated using receiver-operating characteristics analysis. Except for the Wilcoxon rank sum test for Ve, the pharmacokinetic parameters were compared within the enhancing tumor parenchyma, peritumoral parenchyma, and contralateral normal parenchyma of the primary central nervous system lymphomas and glioblastomas using variance analysis and the least-significant difference method. Results: Statistical differences were observed in Ktrans and Kep within the enhancing tumor parenchyma and in Kep within the peritumoral parenchyma between these two tumor types. Differences were also found in Matrix Metallopeptidase-2, vascular endothelial growth factor, and microvessel density within the enhancing tumor parenchyma of these tumors. When compared with the contralateral normal parenchyma, pharmacokinetic parameters within the peritumoral parenchyma and enhancing tumor parenchyma exhibited variations in glioblastoma and primary central nervous system lymphoma, respectively. Moreover, the receiver-operating characteristics analysis showed that the diagnostic efficiency of Kep in the peritumoral parenchyma was notably higher. Conclusion: Pharmacokinetic parameters derived from dynamic contrast-enhanced MRI can differentiate primary central nervous system lymphoma and glioblastoma, especially Kep in the peritumoral parenchyma.

Spent lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) have emerged as a major source of waste due to their low recovery rate. The physical disposal of spent LIBs can lead to the leaching of their contents into the surrounding environment. While it is widely agreed that hazardous substances such as nickel and cobalt in the leachate can pose a threat to the environment and human health, the overall composition and toxicity of LIB leachate remain unclear. In this study, a chemical analysis of leachate from spent LIBs was conducted to identify its primary constituents. The ecotoxicological parameters of the model organism, rotifer Brachionus asplanchnoidis, were assessed to elucidate the toxicity of the LIB leachate. Subsequent experiments elucidated the impacts of the LIB leachate and its representative components on the malondialdehyde (MDA) level, antioxidant capacity, and enzyme activity of B. asplanchnoidis. The results indicate that both the LIB leachate and its components are harmful to individual rotifers due to the adverse effects of stress-induced disturbances in biochemical indicators, posing a threat to population development. The intensified poisoning phenomenon under combined stress suggests the presence of complex synergistic effects among the components of LIB leachate. Due to the likely environmental and biological hazards, LIBs should be strictly managed after disposal. Additionally, more economical and eco-friendly recycling and treatment technologies need to be developed and commercialized.

STUDY OBJECTIVE: To assess the association of intraoperative hypotension with long-term survivals in older patients after major noncardiac surgery mainly for cancer. DESIGN: A secondary analysis of databases from three randomized trials with long-term follow-up. SETTING: The underlying trials were conducted in 17 tertiary hospitals in China. PATIENTS: Patients aged 60 to 90 years who underwent major noncardiac thoracic or abdominal surgeries (≥ 2 h) in a single center were included in this analysis. EXPOSURES: Restricted cubic spline models were employed to determine the lowest mean arterial pressure (MAP) threshold that was potentially harmful for long-term survivals. Patients were arbitrarily divided into three groups according to the cumulative duration or area under the MAP threshold. The association between intraoperative hypotension exposure and long-term survivals were analyzed with the Cox proportional hazard regression models. MEASUREMENTS: Our primary endpoint was overall survival. Secondary endpoints included recurrence-free and event-free survivals. MAIN RESULTS: A total of 2664 patients (mean age 69.0 years, 34.9% female sex, 92.5% cancer surgery) were included in the final analysis. MAP < 60 mmHg was adopted as the threshold of intraoperative hypotension. Patients were divided into three groups according to duration under MAP < 60 mmHg (<1 min, 1-10 min, and > 10 min) or area under MAP <60 mmHg (< 1 mmHg⋅min, 1-30 mmHg⋅min, and > 30 mmHg⋅min). After adjusting confounders, duration under MAP < 60 mmHg for > 10 min was associated with a shortened overall survival when compared with the < 1 min patients (adjusted hazard ratio [HR] 1.31, 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.09 to 1.57, P = 0.004); area under MAP < 60 mmHg for > 30 mmHg⋅min was associated with a shortened overall survival when compared with the < 1 mmHg⋅min patients (adjusted HR 1.40, 95% CI 1.16 to 1.68, P < 0.001). Similar associations exist between duration under MAP < 60 mmHg for > 10 min or area under MAP < 60 mmHg for > 30 mmHg⋅min and recurrence-free or event-free survivals. CONCLUSIONS: In older patients who underwent major noncardiac surgery mainly for cancer, intraoperative hypotension was associated with worse overall, recurrence-free, and event-free survivals.

This study explored the mechanism of l-lysine intervention in wheat gluten protein (WG) gel formation under a microwave (MW) field. The results showed that the MW treatment had higher ζ-potential values at the same heating rate. After adding l-lysine, the solution conductivity and dielectric loss were significantly increased. Moreover, the WG gel strength enhanced 4.40% under the MW treatment. The Fourier spectra showed that the α-helix content was decreased 13.78% with the addition of lysine. The ultraviolet absorption spectra and fluorescence spectra indicated that MW irradiation impacted the interactions between WG molecules more effectively than the water bath heating, promoting the denaturation and unfolding of the protein structure. In addition, scanning electron microscopy analysis showed that the incorporation of lysine promoted an ordered network structure formation of the protein, which enhanced the gel properties. This indicated that the zwitterion of l-lysine played a regulatory role in the aggregation of proteins in the MW field.

Yersinia pestis has recently evolved into a highly lethal flea-borne pathogen through the pseudogenization of extensive genes and the acquisition of exogenous plasmids. Particularly noteworthy are the newly acquired pPCP1 and pMT1 plasmids, which encode the virulence determinants Pla and Yersinia murine toxin (Ymt), crucial for subcutaneous infection and survival within flea vector of Y. pestis, respectively. This study reveals that Pla can cleave Ymt at K299 both in vivo and in vitro. Y. pestis expressing YmtK299A displays enhanced in vitro biofilm formation and increased blood survival, indicating significant roles of Pla-mediated Ymt cleavage in these phenotypes. Intriguingly, although both the ancestral form of Pla and the prevalent Pla-I259T variant in modern Y. pestis strains are capable of cleaving Ymt at K299, the cleavage efficiency of Pla-I259T is only half that of the ancestral variant. In subcutaneous infection, mice infected with Δymt::ymt-K299A show significantly prolonged survival compared to those infected with Δymt::ymt. Similarly, infection with Δpla::pla-I259T also results in extended survival compared to Δpla::pla infection. These data demonstrate that the I259T substitution of Pla mitigates the enhanced virulence of Y. pestis in mice caused by Pla-mediated Ymt cleavage, thereby prolonging the survival period of infected animals and potentially conferring advantages on the transmission of Y. pestis to the next host. These findings deepen our understanding of the intricate interplay between two newly acquired plasmids and shed light on the positive selection of the Pla-I259T mutation, providing new insights into the virulence dynamics and transmission mechanisms of Y. pestis. IMPORTANCE: The emergence of Y. pestis as a highly lethal pathogen is driven by extensive gene pseudogenization and acquisition of exogenous plasmids pPCP1 and pMT1. However, the interplay between these two plasmids during evolution remains largely unexplored. Our study reveals intricate interactions between Ymt and Pla, two crucial virulence determinants encoded on these plasmids. Pla-mediated cleavage of Ymt significantly decreases Y. pestis survival in mouse blood and enhances its virulence in mice. The prevalent Pla-I259T variant in modern strains displays reduced Ymt cleavage, thereby extending the survival of infected animals and potentially increasing strain transmissibility. Our findings shed light on the nuanced evolution of Y. pestis, wherein reduced cleavage efficiency is a positive selection force, shaping the pathogen's natural trajectory.

The impedance matching of absorbers is a vital factor affecting their microwave absorption (MA) properties. In this work, we controllably synthesized Material of Institute Lavoisier 88C (MIL-88C) with varying aspect ratios (AR) as a precursor by regulating oil bath conditions, followed by one-step thermal decomposition to obtain carbon-coated iron-based composites. Modifying the precursor MIL-88C (Fe) preparation conditions, such as the molar ratio between metal ions and organic ligands (M/O), oil bath temperature, and oil bath time, influenced the phases, graphitization degree, and AR of the derivatives, enabling low filler loading, achieving well-matched impedance, and ensuring outstanding MA properties. The MOF-derivatives 2 (MD2)/polyvinylidene Difluoride (PVDF), MD3/PVDF, and MD4/PVDF absorbers all exhibited excellent MA properties with optimal filler loadings below 20 wt% and as low as 5 wt%. The MD2/PVDF (5 wt%) achieved a maximum effective absorption bandwidth (EAB) of 5.52 GHz (1.90 mm). The MD3/PVDF (10 wt%) possessed a minimum reflection loss (RLmin) value of - 67.4 at 12.56 GHz (2.13 mm). A symmetric gradient honeycomb structure (SGHS) was constructed utilizing the high-frequency structure simulator (HFSS) to further extend the EAB, achieving an EAB of 14.6 GHz and a RLmin of - 59.0 dB. This research offers a viable inspiration to creating structures or materials with high-efficiency MA properties.
