RESUMO

A neurogenic dysphagia is dysphagia caused by problems with the central and peripheral nervous systems, is particularly prevalent in conditions such as Parkinson's disease and stroke. It significantly impacts the quality of life for affected individuals and causes additional burdens, such as malnutrition, aspiration pneumonia, asphyxia, or even death from choking due to improper eating. Physical therapy offers a non-invasive treatment with high efficacy and low cost. Evidence supporting the use of physical therapy in dysphagia treatment is increasing, including techniques such as neuromuscular electrical stimulation, sensory stimulation, transcranial direct current stimulation, and repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation. While initial studies have shown promising results, the effectiveness of specific treatment regimens still requires further validation. At present, there is a lack of scientific evidence to guide patient selection, develop appropriate treatment regimens, and accurately evaluate treatment outcomes. Therefore, the primary objectives of this review are to review the results of existing research, summarize the application of physical therapy in dysphagia management, we also discussed the mechanisms and treatments of physical therapy for neurogenic dysphagia.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: We conducted an updated coordinate-based meta-analysis (CBMA) to determine the most prominent and robust white matter (WM) abnormalities in ADHD based on tract-based spatial statistics (TBSS) findings. METHOD: The seed-based d mapping (SDM) software was applied to compare regional fractional anisotropy (FA) alterations in ADHD. Subgroup meta-analyses in the pure ADHD without comorbidity subgroup, the children and adolescents subgroup, and the adults subgroup were also explored, respectively. Meta-regression analysis was subsequently used to examine potential correlations between demographics and FA changes. RESULTS: Only one cluster in the splenium of corpus callosum (CC) exhibited age-related FA decrease in ADHD individuals in the pooled meta-analysis. The adults ADHD subgroup revealed two clusters with reduced FA lied in the splenium and body of CC. CONCLUSION: This updated CBMA confirmed the WM abnormalities in the splenium of CC in ADHD, and improved our understanding of the pathogenesis of this neurodevelopmental disorder.

RESUMO

Objective: This study aimed to investigate whether anxiety mediates the relationship between negative life events and nonsuicidal self-injury (NSSI) in adolescents and whether this mediating role is moderated through social support. Methods: The model consisted of an anonymous questionnaire survey of 506 Chinese adolescents (253 boys and 253 girls, mean age 15.11 years (SD = 1.83, range 11-18 years)). Self-designed questionnaires were used to collect demographic data. The frequency of NSSI, state anxiety, and social support degree of adolescents was assessed by the Adolescent Life Events Scale, the Chinese version of the Beck Anxiety Inventory, and the social support scale, respectively. Results: Negative life events were significantly and positively correlated with anxiety and the frequency of NSSI, and anxiety was significantly and positively correlated with the frequency of NSSI. The positive association between negative life events and the frequency of NSSI among adolescents was mediated by anxiety after controlling for demographic variables. Furthermore, this mediated relationship was moderated by social support. Conclusion: Anxiety was a potential mechanism linking negative life events to NSSI in adolescents and low social support important risk factor for amplifying this indirect effect. Our findings provide an empirical basis for reducing NSSI in adolescents.

RESUMO

In this paper, all measurement and calculation data and their preparation process are presented in detail, which supplements the information published in this co-submission are related to the article "Characterization of the Pore Wetting Process of Equal-Sized Granular Coals based on LF-NMR" [1]. This includes the preparation and component analysis of samples, surface contact angle measurement, analysis of original T2 spectrum and wetting pore size distribution (W-PSD) conversion calculation process. Hence the reader can use the data for their validations and analysis. LF-NMR experiments were conducted for the granular coal pore wetting characterization at the large-diameter MacroMR12-150H-I imaging and analysis system, of Suzhou Niumai Corporation in Jiangsu Province, China. Combined with contact angle measurement, which used the JY-PHb contact angle test instrument, we analyzed the pore wetting process in porous media and its characterization method.

RESUMO

Hypertrophic scar (HPS) formation is a debilitating condition that results in pain, esthetic symptom and loss of tissue function. So far, no satisfactory therapeutic approach has been available for HPS treatment. In this study, we discovered that a natural small molecule, kaempferol, could significantly inhibit HPS formation in a mechanical load-induced mouse model. Our results also demonstrated that kaempferol remarkably attenuated collagen synthesis, proliferation and activation of fibroblasts in vitro and in vivo. Western blot analysis further revealed that kaempferol significantly down-regulated Smad2 and Smad3 phosphorylation in a dose-dependent manner. At last, we found that such bioactivity of kaempferol which resulted from the inhibition of TGF-ß1/Smads signaling was induced by the selective binding of kaempferol to TGF-ß receptor type I (TGFßRI). These findings suggest that kaempferol could be developed into a promising agent for the treatment of HPS or other fibroproliferative disorders.

RESUMO

Intrahepatic foreign bodies are extremely rare before 6 months of age. We reported a case of a 5-month-old boy with a needle-like foreign body in the liver. The foreign body was incidentally found in the right hepatic lobe on the x-ray image. He was asymptomatic, with neither a history of swallowing a needle nor an abdominal cutaneous scar. Three-dimensional reconstruction of spiral computed tomographic scan showed an intrahepatic needle, close to the base of the heart, with its proximal end close to the gallbladder fossae. Because of the localization of the needle and subsequent risks of complications, surgical removal was recommended. At laparotomy, a tiny scar was recognized in the upper surface of the right lobe of the liver, confirming the migration route. Postoperative course was uneventful, and the child was discharged on postoperative day 10 and is thriving perfectly 2 months after surgery. We reviewed the clinical issues of intrahepatic foreign bodies and briefly discussed its approach and implications.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To study the relationship between rs6267 polymorphism of catechol-O-methyltransferase (COMT) gene and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). METHODS: One hundred and fourteen children with ADHD and 76 normal volunteers were enrolled. Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) techniques were used for detecting COMT rs6267 polymorphism. The behavioral problems were assessed by Child Behavior Checklist (CBCL). RESULTS: There were no significant differences in the COMT genotype distribution and allele frequencies between the ADHD and normal control groups. The frequencies of thinking problems (1.7±1.9 vs 1.0±0.9) and disciplinary problems (4.5±3.7 vs 2.2±1.4) in ADHD children carrying genotype G/G were significantly higher than those in children carrying G/T (P<0.05). CONCLUSIONS: COMT rs6267 polymorphism may not contribute to susceptibility to ADHD. However, there might be an association between rs6267 polymorphism and some clinical characters of ADHD.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To study the family rearing pattern of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) with or without anxiety disorder and to explore its risk factors. METHODS: 9495 children and their parents were sampled at random in Hunan province, using two-stage investigation. Those who were diagnosed ADHD and the normal control filled out Egna Minnen av Barndoms Uppfostran and family adaptability and cohesion scale by themselves. RESULTS: The comparison of factors as: actual family cohesion, parents' punishments, rejection, mother's excessive protection, intervention and father's excessive protection were significantly different between ADHD with or without anxiety disorder and normal children (P < 0.05). The comparison of parents' punishments, rejection, excessive protection and intervention were obviously different between ADHD with anxiety disorder and simple ADHD (P < 0.05). Mother's rejection was the influencing factor of simple ADHD, with OR as 1.122. Ideal family cohesion, mother's rejection and father's punishments were the influencing factors of ADHD with anxiety disorder, with OR as 0.966, 1.215 and 1.089 respectively. CONCLUSION: There were some problems in the parental rearing pattern of ADHD with or without anxiety disorder. Mother's rejection, father's punishments and ideal family cohesion were suggested to be correlated with ADHD and anxiety disorder.
