RESUMO

Unified encoding questionnaires designed for special purposes were used to study the etiological importance of nutrition factors in the occurrence of peptic ulcer in workers of the locomotive teams at the Alma-Ata railway. The medico-information questionnaire consisted of 296 items. The processing of 898 questionnaires with the use of computer made it possible to discover a number of risk factors of the development of peptic ulcer in the given occupational group. The use of the method of balanced groups (paired copies) enabled one to specify certain factors promoting the occurrence of peptic ulcer in workers of the locomotive teams. The following factors turned out to be statistically significant: irregular meals (less than 3 times a day), living on cold food, the daily use of fried dishes, hurried meals, and hearty supper consisting of three courses. The data obtained may be of importance for the design of the methods preventing the disease under consideration.

RESUMO

A total of 156 patients with chronic enteritis have been examined for the bile lipid and bile acid composition, the small and large intestine proximal portions microflora, membranous digestion and absorption of the lipids, blood serum lipid composition; morphometry of the small intestine proximal portion mucosa has been carried out. The findings have been processed in correlation and regression analysis, that has revealed a number of relationships between these parameters. This helped specify some aspects in the pathogenesis of lipid metabolism disorders associated with the small intestine abnormalities and select the tests most valuable for the diagnosis and prognosis of the condition. The authors recommend a wider application of such analysis to clinical studies.

RESUMO

The microflora of the small and large intestines was studied in 105 patients with chronic enteritis. Significant amounts of various microorganisms were detected in the small intestine. The content of E. coli, bacteroids, bifidobacteria in feces diminished, while that of staphylococcus, enterococcus and fungi rose. The patients were given diet N 4 (intended for enteritis patients) containing lactic acid products (200 ml, 5 times/day, during 24 days); 38 patients received shubat, 30--koumiss and 37--kefir. Koumiss proved to be most effective in the treatment of intestinal dysbacteriosis. Shubat possessed a lower antibiotic activity. Kefir administration did not produce significant shifts in the intestinal microflora. Lactic acid products were ineffective in fungous and Proteus dysbacteriosis. Koumiss and shubat could be recommended for the therapy of certain types of intestinal dysbacteriosis, thus restricting the use of antibacterial drugs.

RESUMO

The intestinal absorption of vitamin B12 and its blood content have been proved to lower in patients with chronic enterocolitis. Dietetics including kumiss and shubat promotes normalization of vitamin B12 absorption (p less than 0.05), its blood content growth (p less than 0.05), the intestinal microflora becoming normal.

RESUMO

Supplementation of the diet of 290 patients with chronic active hepatitis with whole camel's (group 1), mare's (group 2) and cow's (group 3) milk flavoured marked improvement of the subjective and objective status. There was also an improvement or normalization of the characteristics of blood clinical and biochemical analyses, an improvement of renal function as shown by hepatography and scanning and of the immunological characteristics of the blood serum. It should be noted that the positive shifts in the clinical and laboratory findings were more remarkable in the patients of the first two groups.
