Objective: Previous studies have suggested diet was associated with depressive symptoms. We aimed to develop and validate Dietary Depression Index (DDI) based on dietary prediction of depression in a large Chinese cancer screening cohort.Methods: In the training set (n = 2729), we developed DDI by using intake of 20 food groups derived from a food frequency questionnaire to predict depression as assessed by Patient Health Questionnaire-9 based on the reduced rank regression method. Sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value, and negative predictive value were used to assess the performance of DDI in evaluating depression in the validation dataset (n = 1176).Results: Receiver operating characteristic analysis was constructed to determine the best cut-off value of DDI in predicting depression. In the study population, the DDI ranged from -3.126 to 1.810. The discriminative ability of DDI in predicting depression was good with the AUC of 0.799 overall, 0.794 in males and 0.808 in females. The best cut-off values of DDI for depression prediction were 0.204 overall, 0.330 in males and 0.034 in females. DDI was a validated method to assess the effects of diet on depression.Conclusion: Among individual food components in DDI, fermented vegetables, fresh vegetables, whole grains and onions were inversely associated, whereas legumes, pickled vegetables and rice were positively associated with depressive symptoms.

Objective: To estimate decadal trends in the prevalence of metabolic syndrome (MetS) in economically developed regions in China and its association with city economic levels. Methods: Using a comprehensive Chinese healthcare database, repeated cross-sectional studies were conducted on adults who had annual health check-ups from 2012 to 2021 in 4 economically developed cities. MetS was defined by the criteria of the Chinese Diabetes Society in 2013. The crude prevalence of MetS adjusted for sex and age was reported. The association between prevalence, calendar year, and city gross domestic product (GDP) per capita was analyzed by regression model. Results: 158 274 participants aged 18 years and older were included. The unadjusted prevalence of MetS increased from 15.5% (95% CI: 14.2%-16.8%) to 20.0% (95% CI: 19.5%-20.5%) from 2012 to 2021. The adjusted overall prevalence has increased steadily from 12.8% to 20.8% after controlling age and sex (P < .001). Male and older age groups had a higher MetS prevalence. In the regression model of the association between the MetS prevalence, calendar year, and city GDP per capita, calendar year had a positive association with the prevalence (P < .001, 95% CI: 0.648-1.954) and city GDP per capita had a negative association (P = .030, 95% CI: -0.136 to -0.007). Conclusion: The MetS prevalence increased steadily in the economically developed regions in China among the health check-up population during 2012-2021. The MetS prevalence is shown to be negatively associated with GDP per capita in the study population.

Pd(OAc)2/Nixantphos or CoI2/Nixantphos catalyzed allylic substitutions with weakly acidic C(sp)3-H bonds of azaarylmethylamines are described. This method facilitates access to various kinds of heteroaryl rings containing homoallylamines (39 examples, 30-98% yields) with excellent functional group tolerance and diastereoselectivity. Compared with the Pd/Nixantphos complex, the Co/Nixantphos catalysis could obtain the cyclic products with good to excellent diastereoselectivities. Importantly, the CoI2/(R,R)-Me-Duphos catalyzed reactions exhibit moderate enantioselectivity. Additionally, the scalability of this transformation is successfully demonstrated.

Despite the remarkable clinical efficacy of cancer immunotherapy, considerable patients fail to benefit from it due to primary or acquired resistance. Tumours frequently hijack diverse epigenetic mechanisms to evade immune detection, thereby highlighting the potential for pharmacologically targeting epigenetic regulators to restore the impaired immunosurveillance and re-sensitise tumours to immunotherapy. Herein, we demonstrated that KDM4-targeting chemotherapeutic drug JIB-04, epigenetically triggered the tumour-intrinsic innate immune responses and immunogenic cell death (ICD), resulting in impressive antitumour effects. Specifically, JIB-04 induced H3K9 hypermethylation through specific inhibition of the KDM4 family (KDM4A-D), leading to impaired DNA repair signalling and subsequent DNA damage. As a result, JIB-04 not only activated the tumour-intrinsic cyclic GMP-AMP synthase (cGAS)-STING pathway via DNA-damage-induced cytosolic DNA accumulation, but also promoted ICD, releasing numerous damage-associated molecular patterns. Furthermore, JIB-04 induced adaptive resistance through the upregulation of programmed death-ligand 1 (PD-L1), which could be overcome with additional PD-L1 blockade. In human tumours, KDM4B expression was negatively correlated with clinical outcomes, type I interferon signatures, and responses to immunotherapy. In conclusion, our results demonstrate that targeting KDM4 family can activate tumour-intrinsic innate sensing and immunogenicity, and synergise with immunotherapy to improve antitumour outcomes.

Few cancers can be targeted efficiently by engineered T cell strategies. Here, we show that γδ T cell antigen receptor (γδ TCR)-mediated cancer metabolome targeting can be combined with targeting of cancer-associated stress antigens (such as NKG2D ligands or CD277) through the addition of chimeric co-receptors. This strategy overcomes suboptimal γ9δ2 TCR engagement of αß T cells engineered to express a defined γδ TCR (TEGs) and improves serial killing, proliferation and persistence of TEGs. In vivo, the NKG2D-CD28WT chimera enabled control only of liquid tumors, whereas the NKG2D-4-1BBCD28TM chimera prolonged persistence of TEGs and improved control of liquid and solid tumors. The CD277-targeting chimera (103-4-1BB) was the most optimal co-stimulation format, eradicating both liquid and solid tumors. Single-cell transcriptomic analysis revealed that NKG2D-4-1BBCD28TM and 103-4-1BB chimeras reprogram TEGs through NF-κB. Owing to competition with naturally expressed NKG2D in CD8+ TEGs, the NKG2D-4-1BBCD28TM chimera mainly skewed CD4+ TEGs toward adhesion, proliferation, cytotoxicity and less exhausted signatures, whereas the 103-4-1BB chimera additionally shaped the CD8+ subset toward a proliferative state.

Whether motor inhibition impacts the motor interference effect of dangerous objects is controversial. Previous studies have manipulated task type and found that dangerous objects elicited increased motor inhibition compared to safe objects in the reachability judgment task but not in the categorization task. However, it was still unclear why motor inhibition was reduced for dangerous objects in the categorization task. We speculated that the activation strength of object affordance might modulate the occurrence of motor inhibition. To test this hypothesis, the present study designed a prime-target grasping consistency judgment task and manipulated target grips (power grip vs. precision grip), target dangerousness (dangerous vs. safe), and Go/NoGo (Go vs. NoGo). The results showed that under the condition of high activation strength of the target affordance (i.e., power grip targets), processing dangerous targets evoked increased motor inhibition (reflected by a more negative frontal N2 component) compared to safe targets and produced a motor interference effect in reaction time (RT). In contrast, under the condition of low target affordance activation strength (i.e., precision grip targets), processing dangerous targets facilitated RT compared to safe targets, with no difference found between the dangerous and safe conditions in the frontal N2 component. Furthermore, compared to safe objects, dangerous objects attracted more attention and recruited more cognitive resources to select appropriate responses to them. This study extended the findings of previous studies on the motor interference effect by highlighting the importance of activation strength for eliciting motor inhibition based on the prime-target consistency judgment task.

OBJECTIVE: To determine the efficacy of venlafaxine combined with agomelatine in elderly patients with depression and observe the changes in S-100 calcium binding protein B (S-100B) and glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) before and after treatment. METHODS: The data of 142 elderly patients with depression treated in Affiliated Hospital of Gansu Medical College between January 2020 and January 2022 were retrospectively studied. Among the patients, 62 treated with venlafaxine were assigned to a control group, and 80 treated with agomelatine combined with venlafaxine were assigned to an observation group. In addition, 50 patients with suspected meningitis who were treated in Affiliated Hospital of Gansu Medical College over the same time span were enrolled into a normal group. The two groups of patients were compared in terms of clinical efficacy after treatment and the changes in S100B and GFAP before and after treatment. The diagnostic value of S100B and GFAP in patients with depression was explored. Additionally, the changes in Repeatable Battery for the Assessment of Neuropsychological Status (RBANS) score before and after treatment were compared between the two groups, and the adverse drug reaction rate was also compared. RESULTS: The patient group showed higher cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) levels of S100B and GFAP than the control group (P < 0.001). The areas under the curve (AUC) of CSF S100B and GFAP for diagnosing depression were 0.833 and 0.925, respectively, and the AUC of the combination of the two was 0.967, which was larger than that of CSF S100B or GFAP alone (P < 0.001). Additionally, the control group showed lower clinical efficacy than the observation group (P < 0.001). After treatment, the observation group exhibited lower CSF levels of S100B and GFAP than the control group (P < 0.001), and demonstrated higher RBANS score than the control group (P < 0.001). The difference in adverse drug reaction rate was not significant between the control group and the observation group (P > 0.05). CONCLUSION: S100B and GFAP can be used as diagnostic indicators of depression. Agomelatine plus venlafaxine are superior to venlafaxine alone in the treatment of depression. The combination can contribute to better S100B and GFAP levels, and take a more obvious role in alleviating disease symptoms, thereby improving the cognitive function and overall well-being of patients.

Chronic inflammation plays a central role in the progression from esophageal precancerous lesions (EPLs) to esophageal squamous-cell cancer (ESCC). However, few studies have investigated the relationship between the overall inflammatory potential of diets and EPLs and ESCC. We aimed to study the association between the Dietary Inflammatory Index (DII) and EPLs and ESCC. As part of the National Cohort of Esophageal Cancer (NCEC) in China, 3967 residents (1993 men and 1974 women) aged from 40 to 69 years living in Yanting County received free gastroscopy screenings from 2017 to 2019. Dietary intake during the past year was assessed at enrollment of the cohort before screening and DII scores were calculated based on 28 food parameters. EPLs (classified into mild, moderate, and severe dysplasia) and ESCC were histologically confirmed by biopsy. Multivariable logistic regression was used to examine the associations of DII scores with EPLs and ESCC. A total of 312 participants were diagnosed with EPLs (226 with mild dysplasia, 40 with moderate dysplasia, and 46 with severe dysplasia) and 72 were diagnosed with ESCC. A statistically significant positive association was observed between DII scores and overall EPLs (ORT3 vs. T1 = 1.45, 95%CI = 1.01-2.09); the association was similar but not statistically significant for mild dysplasia (ORone-unit-increment = 1.11, 95%CI = 0.95-1.34) and for moderate and severe dysplasia combined (ORone-unit-increment = 1.15, 95%CI = 0.87-1.51). The association with ESCC was similar in magnitude but not significant, likely due to the small number of cases. In this cross-sectional study of a population in China at high risk of ESCC, DII scores were positively associated with odds of EPLs and ESCC. Consumption of anti-inflammatory foods may be beneficial to prevent EPLs and ESCC.

OBJECTIVE: To assess whether there is sufficient evidence of a difference in efficacy between subgingival air polishing (SubAP) and subgingival debridement as periodontal support treatment. The systematic review protocol was registered in the PROSPERO database under no. CRD42020213042. METHODS: A comprehensive search was conducted using eight online databases to develop straightforward clinical questions and search strategies, from their inception to 27 January 2023. The references of identified reports were also retrieved for inclusion in the analysis. The risk-of-bias of the included studies was evaluated using the Revised Cochrane Risk-of-Bias tool (RoB 2). A meta-analysis was performed on five clinical indicators using the Stata 16 software. RESULTS: Twelve randomized controlled trials were ultimately included, and most included studies had varying degrees of risk-of-bias. The results of the meta-analysis indicated that there was no significant difference between SubAP and subgingival scaling in terms of improving probing depth (PD), clinical attachment loss (CAL), plaque index (PLI), and bleeding on probing% (BOP%). The results of the visual analogue scale score analysis indicated that SubAP produced less discomfort than did subgingival scaling. DISCUSSION: SubAP can provide better treatment comfort than subgingival debridement. There was no significant difference in the efficacy of the two modalities in improving PD, CAL, and BOP% in supportive periodontal therapy. CONCLUSION: Currently, evidence for assessing the difference in the efficacy of SubAP and subgingival debridement in improving the PLI is insufficient, and further high-quality clinical studies are needed.

The present study adopted a primed target grasping-categorization task and selected pictures of animals as target stimuli to investigate whether motor inhibition influences the motor interference effect of dangerous animals. The results identified more positive P2 and P3 amplitudes accompanied by larger delta event-related synchronization in the dangerous condition than in the neutral condition, suggesting that compared to neutral animal targets, dangerous animal targets attracted increased attentional resources in early processing and that subjects recruited more cognitive resources to process dangerous animal targets than neutral animal targets. Moreover, the results identified larger theta event-related synchronization (reflecting motor inhibition) in the dangerous condition than in the neutral condition. Thus, the results suggested that prepared motor responses were inhibited to avoid touching dangerous animal targets in the current task, supporting that motor inhibition influences the motor interference effect of dangerous animals based on a primed target grasping-categorization task.

In the production process of puree cans such as chestnuts cans, it is easy to browning due to excessive heating, which causes a lot of waste every year. The heat and mass transfer model of Chinese Chestnut Puree was established through the finite element method. The model simulated the change process of the temperature field, heat flow velocity field and F value during the production of Chinese Chestnut Puree. After comparing and confirming the effectiveness of the model through the thermal penetration test, the model was used to adjust and optimize the production process. For #9121 cans, the two-stage sterilization method was adopted. Through the sterilization method at 10-65-48-14/118-110°C, a sterilization effect equivalent to that of the original process at 10-86-24/121°C was achieved, the browning problem of the product was alleviated, and the product quality was improved. This practice can also provide a reference for canning enterprises to adjust their production processes in the future.

PURPOSE OF REVIEW: Previous literature reviews summarized the associations between individual foods or food groups and lung cancer risk, but the relationship between dietary patterns and lung cancer risk has received less attention. We conducted a systematic review and meta-analyses of observational studies on the associations between dietary patterns and lung cancer risk. RECENT FINDINGS: PubMed, Embase, and Web of Science were systematically searched from inception to February 2023. Random-effects models were used to pool relative risks (RR) on associations with at least two studies. Twelve studies reported on data-driven dietary patterns, and 17 studies reported on a priori dietary patterns. A prudent dietary pattern (high in vegetables, fruit, fish, and white meat) tended to be associated with a lower risk of lung cancer (RR = 0.81, 95% confidence interval [CI] = 0.66-1.01, n = 5). In contrast, Western dietary patterns, characterized by higher intakes of refined grains and red and processed meat, were significantly positively associated with lung cancer (RR = 1.32, 95% CI = 1.08-1.60, n = 6). Healthy dietary scores were consistently associated with a lower risk of lung cancer (Healthy Eating Index [HEI]: RR = 0.87, 95% CI = 0.80-0.95, n = 4; Alternate HEI: RR = 0.88, 95% CI = 0.81-0.95, n = 4; Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension: RR = 0.87, 95% CI = 0.77-0.98, n = 4; Mediterranean diet: RR = 0.87, 95% CI = 0.81-0.93, n = 10) while the dietary inflammatory index was associated with a higher risk of lung cancer (RR = 1.14, 95% CI = 1.07-1.22, n = 6). Our systematic review indicates dietary patterns characterized by a higher intake of vegetables and fruits, a lower intake of animal products, and anti-inflammation may be associated with a reduced risk of lung cancer.

BACKGROUND: Chronic digestive diseases (CDDs) and depression shared major pathogeneses. We aimed to prospectively examine the bidirectional incidence associations between depressive symptoms and CDDs and explore biologically and behaviorally relevant mediators in the bidirectional associations. METHODS: Multivariable-adjusted Cox proportional hazard models were used to examine baseline depressive symptoms in relation to incident CDDs among 10,974 adults and the relation of baseline CDDs with new-onset elevated depressive symptoms among 7489 participants in the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study of nationally representative middle-aged and older adults. Elevated depressive symptoms were defined as the 10-item Center for Epidemiologic Studies Depression scale (CES-D-10) score at or higher than 10 and CDDs (except for tumor and cancer) were determined by self-reported physician diagnoses. Causal mediation analysis was performed to assess the mediated effects of a priori selected blood biomarkers and lifestyle factors in the bidirectional associations. RESULTS: Prevalence of elevated depressive symptoms and nonmalignant CDDs at baseline was 33.05 % and 17.8 % respectively. During a mean of 5.47 years of follow-up, elevated depressive symptoms significantly increased hazard of CDDs by 1.66 folds (95%CI = 1.49-1.84). Having CDDs at baseline was associated with a 27 % (95%CI = 16 %-39 %) increased hazard of developing elevated depressive symptoms. Shorter sleeping duration at night nominally significantly mediated 8.76 % of the association between depressive symptoms and incident CDDs while no significant mediators were identified in the converse association. LIMITATIONS: Limited mediator information and inadequately long follow-up may reduce chance of identifying significant mediators. CONCLUSIONS: Depressive symptoms and CDDs were mutual independent risk factors. Early screening and management of depressive symptoms and sleep disturbance are suggested in the prevention of CDDs and related comorbidities.

BACKGROUND: Trisomy 21, an extra copy of human chromosome 21 (HSA21), causes most Down's syndrome (DS) cases. Individuals with DS inevitably develop Alzheimer's disease (AD) neuropathological phenotypes after middle age including amyloid plaques and tau neurofibrillary tangles. Ubiquitin Specific Peptidase 25 (USP25), encoding by USP25 gene located on HSA21, is a deubiquitinating enzyme, which plays an important role in both DS and AD pathogenesis. However, the regulation of USP25 remains unclear. OBJECTIVE: We aimed to determine the regulation of USP25 by specificity protein 1 (SP1) in neuronal cells and its potential role in amyloidogenesis. METHODS: The transcription start site and promoter activity was identified by SMART-RACE and Dual-luciferase assay. Functional SP1-responsive elements were examined by EMSA. USP25 expression was examined by RT-PCR and immunoblotting. Student's t-test or one-way ANOVA were applied or statistical analysis. RESULTS: The transcription start site of human USP25 gene was identified. Three functional SP1 responsive elements in human USP25 gene were revealed. SP1 promotes USP25 transcription and subsequent USP25 protein expression, while SP1 inhibition significantly reduces USP25 expression in both non-neuronal and neuronal cells. Moreover, SP1 inhibition dramatically reduces amyloidogenesis. CONCLUSION: We demonstrates that transcription factor SP1 regulates USP25 gene expression, which associates with amyloidogenesis. It suggests that SP1 signaling may play an important role in USP25 regulation and contribute to USP25-mediated DS and AD pathogenesis.

INTRODUCTION: To estimate the up-to-date prevalence of chronic kidney disease among the health check-up population in economically developed areas of China using estimated glomerular filtration rate, urinary albumin creatinine ratio, and kidney ultrasound. METHODS: Healthcare data from 38,093 subjects in 10 megalopolises of China who had an annual health check-up in 2021 were used. The overall and stratified prevalence of chronic kidney disease by sex, age, region and comorbidity group was reported. The association between chronic kidney disease and covariates of demographics, and comorbidities were analyzed in the multivariable-adjusted logistic regression model. RESULTS: A total of 3837 CKD cases were detected meeting any of the three CKD diagnostic criteria, with a crude prevalence of 10.1% in the study population. Using one criterion of decreased glomerular filtration rate, albuminuria and kidney structural abnormalities alone detected 204 (5.3%), 3289 (85.7%) and 563 (14.7%) cases, respectively. The addition of kidney ultrasound detected 427 (11.1%) structural abnormality cases without decreased GFR and albuminuria. The most common abnormalities were renal masses, hydronephrosis due to obstruction and congenital anomalies of kidney and urinary tract. Female, older age, low city-tier, hypertension, diabetes, obesity, hypertriglyceridemia as well as early disease stages such as pre-hypertension, impaired fasting glucose and overweight were significantly associated with chronic kidney disease. CONCLUSION: Kidney ultrasound helps to amplify the detection of CKD patients, which is a supplement to kidney function and urine protein.

OBJECTIVE: As some articles have highlighted the role of microRNA-92a (miR-92a) in myocardial ischemia-reperfusion injury (MI/RI), this article aimed to investigate the effect of miR-92a on Sevoflurane (Sevo)-treated MI/RI via regulation of Krüppel-like factor 4 (KLF4). METHODS: An MI/RI rat model was established by ligating the left anterior descending coronary artery. The cardiac function, pathological changes of myocardial tissues, inflammatory response, oxidative stress and cardiomyocyte apoptosis in MI/RI rats were determined. KLF4 and miR-92a expression was detected in the myocardial tissue of rats, and the target relationship between miR-92a and KLF4 was confirmed. RESULTS: Sevo treatment alleviated myocardial damage, inflammatory response, oxidative stress response, and cardiomyocyte apoptosis, and improved cardiac function in MI/RI rats. miR-92a increased and KLF4 decreased in the myocardial tissue of MI/RI rats. KLF4 was targeted by miR-92a. Downregulation of miR-92a or upregulation of KLF4 further enhanced the effect of Sevo treatment on MI/RI. CONCLUSION: This study suggests that depletion of miR-92a promotes upregulation of KLF4 to improve cardiac function, reduce cardiomyocyte apoptosis and further enhance the role of Sevo treatment in alleviating MI/RI.

BACKGROUND: Chronic inflammation is implicated in cancer prognosis and can be modulated by diet. We examined associations between post-diagnosis dietary inflammatory potential and mortality outcomes among post-menopausal women diagnosed with cancer in the Women's Health Initiative (WHI). METHODS: Energy-adjusted dietary inflammatory index scores (E-DII) were calculated from dietary and supplemental intake data collected on the first food frequency questionnaire following the diagnosis of primary invasive cancer for 3434 women in the WHI. Cox proportional hazards models were used to estimate hazard ratios (HR) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) for risk of death from any cause, cancer, cardiovascular disease (CVD) and other causes by post-diagnosis quartiles of E-DII. Subgroup analyses by cancer stage and grade were performed. RESULTS: There were 1156 deaths after a median 13 years of follow-up from the date of a cancer diagnosis. In the multivariable-adjusted analyses, a more anti-inflammatory diet plus supplements after cancer diagnosis was associated with lower all-cause mortality, cancer mortality, CVD mortality and mortality from other causes with HRsQ1vs.Q4 ranging from 0.47 to 0.68 (all P-trends < 0.05). Associations were stronger for cancers diagnosed at more distant stages or moderately differentiated grades. CONCLUSION: A more anti-inflammatory diet plus supplements after a cancer diagnosis may improve survival for post-menopausal cancer survivors.

The association between diet quality and all-cause mortality in Chinese population is unclear. We aimed to study the associations of three a priori diet quality indices-including the Diet Quality Index-International (DQI-I), Chinese Healthy Eating Index (CHEI), and energy-adjusted Dietary Inflammatory Index (E-DII)-and their included components with all-cause mortality. We used baseline data from the 2004, 2006, 2009, and 2011 waves of the China Health and Nutrition Survey (CHNS). We used a multivariable-adjusted Cox model to examine the associations between DQI-I, CHEI, and E-DII with all-cause mortality. During a mean of 7 years of follow-up, a total of 461 deaths occurred among 12,914 participants. For DQI-I, there were significant inverse associations with mortality for the variety score (HRQ4 vs. Q1 = 0.69, 95%CI = 0.52-0.92) and overall balance score (HR>0 vs. 0 = 0.81, 95%CI = 0.66-0.91). The adequacy score of CHEI was associated with 40% less risk of all-cause mortality (HRQ4 vs. Q1 = 0.60, 95%CI = 0.43-0.84). E-DII was not associated with mortality. An estimated 20.1%, 13.9%, and 31.3% of total mortality would be averted if the DQI-I variety score, DQI-I overall balance score, and CHEI adequacy score improved from the bottom to the top quartile, respectively. Improving diet quality, especially improving diet variety and adequacy, and having a more balanced diet may reduce all-cause mortality in Chinese adults.

It is unclear whether diet-associated inflammation is related to the development of anxiety disorders. We aimed to investigate the association between energy-adjusted dietary inflammatory index (E-DII) scores and the incidence of anxiety disorders, and explore the joint effects of E-DII scores with other inflammatory lifestyles in enhancing anxiety risk. In the UK Biobank Study of 96,679 participants, baseline E-DII scores were calculated from the average intake of at least two 24 h dietary recalls. Multivariable-adjusted Cox models were used to evaluate the associations between E-DII scores and the incidence of total anxiety disorders, and primary types and subtypes; additive and multiplicative interactions of a pro-inflammatory diet and seven inflammatory lifestyles were examined. After a median follow-up of 9.4 years, 2785 incident cases of anxiety disorders occurred. Consuming a pro-inflammatory diet was significantly associated with a higher risk of total anxiety disorders (HRQ4vsQ1 = 1.12, 95% CI = 1.00-1.25), and positive associations were consistently identified for primary types and subtypes of anxiety disorders, with HRs ranging from 1.08 to 1.52, and were present in women only. Both additive and multiplicative interactions of current smoking and a proinflammatory diet on total anxiety risk were identified. A proinflammatory diet was associated with a higher incidence of anxiety disorders, and current smoking may synergize with a proinflammatory diet to promote anxiety risk, particularly among women.

Organo-silanes, germanes, and stannanes are considered to be conducive to the development of cross-coupling reactions because they are stable, nontoxic, and easy to handle. Using feedstock toluenes, one-pot direct benzylic C-H silylations, germylations, and stannylations are developed. Simply combining toluenes, LiN(SiMe3)2/CsCl, and R3MCl (M = Si, Ge, Sn) generates a diverse array of bench-stable benzyl silanes, germanes, and stannanes (38 examples, 53-90% yields). The syntheses developed here are easy to access on scale.
