RESUMO

Oecanthus is a genus of cricket known for its distinctive chirping and distributed across major zoogeographical regions worldwide. This study focuses on Oecanthus rufescens, and conducts a comprehensive examination of its genome through genome sequencing technologies and bioinformatic analysis. A high-quality chromosome-level genome of O. rufescens was successfully obtained, revealing significant features of its genome structure. The genome size is 877.9 Mb, comprising ten pseudo-chromosomes and 70 other sequences, with a GC content of 41.38% and an N50 value of 157,110,771 bp, indicating a high level of continuity. BUSCO assessment results demonstrate that the genome's integrity and quality are high (of which 96.8% are single-copy and 1.6% are duplicated). Comprehensive genome annotation was also performed, identifying approximately 310 Mb of repetitive sequences, accounting for 35.3% of the total genome sequence, and discovering 15,481 tRNA genes, 4,082 rRNA genes, and 1,212 other noncoding genes. Furthermore, 15,031 protein-coding genes were identified, with BUSCO assessment results showing that 98.4% (of which 96.3% are single-copy and 1.6% are duplicated) of the genes were annotated.

RESUMO

The article describes two new species of Trigonidiidae Saussure, 1874, namely Pteronemobius yuani Ma & Wang sp. nov. and Metiochodes tianfuensis Ma, Yuan & Gu sp. nov. The former belongs to Pteronemobius Jacobson, 1904, and is similar to Pteronemobius gifuensis (Shiraki, 1911) but has a long and narrow epiphallic median lobe, and the outer posterior tibia is armed with three dorsal spurs; while the latter belongs to Metiochodes Chopard, 1932, which is similar to Metiochodes flavescens Chopard, 1932, but the epiphallic median lobe is concave. Here, we describe and illustrate these new species.

RESUMO

We discovery two new species (Trigonidium nigripes sp. nov. and Pteronemobius luojishanensis sp. nov.) of Trigonidiidae (Orthoptera: Grylloidea) from Sichuan Province, China. T. nigripes sp. nov. is distinct by its tegmen slightly bulging smooth and black, bearing false veins, degraded hindwings and similar wing venation of male and female, and P. luojishanensis sp. nov., is distinguished by its male ectoparamere of genitalia bifurcated and epiphallus relatively short. These species are described and illustrated in this article.

RESUMO

The abundance of insects in Burmese amber illustrates a highly diverse insect community of the mid-Cretaceous, but the records of crickets are relatively rare. Here, we erect two new genera with two new species, Birmanioecanthus haplostichus gen. et sp. nov. and Apiculatus cretaceus gen. et sp. nov., based on two new specimens from northern Myanmar amber. These new species can be assigned to the subfamily Oecanthinae (Orthoptera: Gryllidae) by their prognathous head, slender body and metatibiae, and protibiae with large tympana. These new findings are the first and earliest fossil record of tree crickets and shed light on the evolution of Oecanithinae.

RESUMO

The Landrevus species group includes four Velarifictorus species that are related to Landrevinae crickets (Velarifictoruselephas Gorochov, 1992, Velarifictorusbubalus Gorochov, 1992, Velarifictorusgradifrons Ingrisch, 1998, and Velarifictoruslandrevus Ma, Qiao & Zhang, 2019). A new species of the group is discovered in the Yunnan Province of China, and it is described and illustrated here. Velarifictorusyunnanensis Liu & Yin, 1993 is recognized as a junior synonym of Velarifictorusflavifrons Chopard, 1966. The morphological variety of V.flavifrons ectoparamere is documented and studied.

RESUMO

Based on both morphological characters and phylogenetic relationships, one new genus Progoniogryllus gen. nov. and two new species, Progoniogryllus rotundus sp. nov. and Progoniogryllus directus sp. nov., are proposed. The new genus is compared with similar genera of Gryllodes Saussure, 1874, Parasongella Otte, 1987, Callogryllus Sjstedt, 1910 and Goniogryllus Chopard. 1936 by morphological and phylogenetic methods. Based on the knowledge so far, the new genus is very close to Goniogryllus. All the new taxa are described and illustrated, and some information on mating behavior of the new was also provided.

RESUMO

The article revised Chinese Podoscirtinae species. Three new species of Aphonoides Chopard, 1940 were reported. Two species of the genera of Aphonoides Chopard, 1940 and Mistshenkoana Gorochov, 1990 were firstly recorded from China. Six synonyms of the genera of Zvenella Gorochov, 1988 and Phyllotrella Gorochov, 1988 were proposed. All species mentioned above and some relevant taxa were described and illustrated, and keys as well as distribution map were provided.

RESUMO

Duolandrevus species are brown, smooth and shiny, and armed with short tegmina. There are twelve species recorded from China. We redescribed five species of them and reported a new species, Duolandrevus longlouensis sp. n., discovered in Hainan Island, China. The new one belongs to the subgenus Eulandreus and is similar to Duolandrevus obsidianus He, 2019 and Duolandrevus dendrophilus (Gorochov, 1988), but differs from them in body size and details of tegmina and genitalia. Besides description and illustration of the five recorded species and one new species, keys and distribution map of Chinese bark crickets were provided.
