RESUMO

This study aimed to investigate the contemporary status and influencing factors of foot self-care behavior in diabetic foot amputation patients. A total of 250 patients with diabetic foot amputation were included. The general information questionnaire, Chinese Version of the Nottingham Assessment of Function Footcare (CNAFF), Knowledge of Diabetic Foot Questionnaire, and The Third Version of the Diabetes Attitude Scale were used to investigate the status and influencing factors of foot self-care behavior in patients with diabetic foot amputation. From our sample, the Chinese version of Nottingham foot care behavior score was 68.32 ± 10.35 points, which showed that the foot self-care behavior of patients with diabetic foot amputation is at a medium level. Multiple linear regression analysis showed that education level, the knowledge of how to choose shoes and socks, the knowledge of self-care for feet, the need for special training in education, and the patient's autonomy in diabetes care were the main factors influencing foot self-care behavior of patients with diabetic foot amputation (P < 0.05). The total variation of CNAFF score was 49%. The results of this study show that the level of foot care of diabetic amputees must be improved, and medical staffs need to take targeted intervention measures to help patients improve their self-care behavior after amputation, thereby reducing the recurrence rate of diabetic feet and improving their quality of life.

RESUMO

Polygonatum cyrtonema Hua is a perennial herb of the Asparagaceae family that is used for both dietary and medicinal purposes in China. In September 2019, a new leaf spot disease on Po. cyrtonema was detected which is currently widespread in Huaihua, Hunan Province, China. Pathogenic fungi were isolated and purified from samples of diseased tissue that were collected for morphological and molecular phylogenetic studies. The pathogen was identified using multi-locus (ITS, TEF-1, TUB2) phylogenies, as well as morphological characters, and was found to be clustered but separately divergent from species of Pestalotiopsis. However, there were significant morphological differences between the pathogen and similar species. The pathogen was finally identified as a new species that was designated Pestalotiopsis xuefengensis. This is the first report of P. xuefengensis serving as the causal agent of gray leaf spot on Po. cyrtonema. This study will provide useful information for the diagnosis and management of this disease.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Obesity and related diseases have become one of the leading causes of death worldwide, which has been linked to biopsychosocial effects such as type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, various cancers, depression, and weight stigma. Episodic future thinking (EFT) has been found to support the development of changes in health behaviors. However, the effectiveness of EFT in enhancing weight loss behavior and health outcomes is not well supported. OBJECTIVE: To establish implementation options for the EFT intervention, and critically synthesize the data that assesses the impact of EFT on weight loss behavior and health outcomes. METHODS: Searches were performed across 5 Chinese and 9 English databases systematically from inception to March 2023. Randomized controlled trials, written in English or Chinese were included. Two independent reviewers evaluated all relevant studies, who also assessed the risk of bias, and extracted the data. Meta-analyses were conducted using Review Manager 5.4.1. The quantity of evidence's certainty was assessed using the Risk bias assessment tool RoB2 (revised version 2019). This study was registered in PROSPERO. RESULTS: A total of 1740 participants were included, and 18 studies were eligible for inclusion. Meta-analysis reported a statistically significant effect size favoring EFT on delay discounting (AUC) (MD = 0.1, 95 % CI: [0.02, 0.17], P = 0.01; I2 = 73 %), delay discounting (K) (MD = -0.85, 95 % CI: [-1.44, -0.26], P = 0.005; I2 = 77 %), energy intake (MD = -107.59, 95 % CI: [-192.21, -22.97], P = 0.01; I2 = 57 %), grocery purchased (SMD: -0.91, 95 % CI:[-1.48, -0.34], P = 0.002; I2 = 63 %), and BMI (MD = -2.73, 95 % CI: [-5.13, -0.32], P = 0.03; I2 = 0 %, two studies). CONCLUSIONS: EFT was found to have favorable effects on delay discounting, energy intake, grocery purchased, and BMI of individuals. The presence of high heterogeneity is evident in most of the outcomes. The modalities of EFT intervention are still in the exploratory phase, there is no consensus on the valence, context type, longest delay time, and practice strategy, and it needs to be further explored for different populations. It is anticipated that additional well-designed studies will continue developing high-quality evidence in this field.

RESUMO

Polygonatum cyrtonema Hua, a perennial plant of the Asparagaceae family, is an important herb in Chinese medicine and is mainly grown in the Chinese provinces of Guizhou, Hunan, Yunnan, Anhui, and Zhejiang (Chen et al. 2021). In June 2021, a new case of leaf spot disease was detected in an 80 m2 plantation of P. cyrtonema on Xuefeng Mountain, Huaihua City, Hunan Province (27°17'30″N, 110°24'20″E). It infected almost 40% of the total planted area. Initially, irregular light brown spots appeared on the leaves, gradually turning dark brown and coalescing to form large necrotic areas, after which the affected plant turned yellow and eventually died. Ten disease samples were collected from ten plants in the plantation area. The leading edge of necrotic tissues were rinsed with sterile water and then disinfected with 3% hydrogen peroxide for 30 s, followed by 75% ethanol for 90 s, and rinsed three times with sterile water. Samples were then placed on water agar plates and incubated in the dark in a constant temperature incubator at 28 ℃ for 3-5 days. After mycelial growth was observed in the media, the hyphae were transferred to potato dextrose agar plates and incubated for 3-5 days at 28 ℃ in the dark. Ultimately, 12 purified fungal isolates were obtained, some of which were morphologically similar, including 10 that were Alternaria (83.3% isolation rate). Three representative isolates (HJYB1, HJYB2, and HJYB3) were selected for further study. The initial colonies were grayish green with white fluffy mycelia on the surface and a prominent white rim, which became brown with dense, cottony aerial mycelia as the colonies matured. The conidia were obpyriform or ellipsoidal, pale to dark brown, with 0-4 transverse and 0-3 longitudinal septa, some with a short cylindrical beak at the tip. They measured 11.826-28.873 × 6.231-26.018 µm (n = 100). To further confirm the identity of the isolates, their rDNA internal transcribed spacer region (ITS), ß-microtubulin (TUB2) and translation elongation factor-1 (TEF-1) genes were amplified and sequenced using the ITS4/ITS5, TUB2F/R and EF-526F/1567R primers, respectively (Hong et al. 2006). The sequences were submitted to GenBank (ITS: OR513924, OR513964, OR519874; TUB2: OR526928, OR533421, OR526929; TEF: OR526926, OR533420, OR526927). A concatenated phylogenetic tree of the three genes showed that the isolate clustered significantly with Alternaria alternata. Based on morphological identification and phylogenetic tree analysis, the isolate was identified as A. alternata. We carried out pathogenicity tests on four uniformly growing P. cyrtonema plants. Three of these plants were used as experimental plants and one as a control. For each plant, three young leaves were selected and inoculated with 6 × 6 mm PDA blocks, while sterile PDA blocks were used as controls. The treated plants were subjected to 10 days of stable temperature in a climatic chamber set at 28°C, 80% constant relative humidity and 12 hours of light per day. The pathogenic lesions appeared and the pathogens re-isolated from the diseased leaves showed similar morphological characteristics to representative isolates and were confirmed as A. alternata by DNA sequencing, thus fulfilling Koch's postulates. A. alternata is the major causal agent of leaf spot on P. sibiricum (Zou et al. 2023) and Agrimonia pilosa (Jiang et al. 2023). As far as we know, leaf necrosis caused by A. tenuissima has been found on P. cyrtonema (Li et al. 2020). To our knowledge, this is the first report of A. alternata causing leaf spot disease in P. cyrtonema. These findings form the basis for the management of this leaf spot disease.

RESUMO

In response to Cd, Pb, and Cu pollution in acid mine drainage (AMD), a multigroup cellulose material (TCIS) containing thiol (-SH), carboxyl (-COOH), and imine (-C = N) groups was prepared through oxidation and grafting reactions. At pH 5, the maximum Cd(II), Pb(II), and Cu(II) adsorption performances of TCIS were 53.60, 120.6, and 36.01 mg/g, respectively. In the binary system, the interaction between metal ions was mainly inhibited by competitive adsorption. Cu(II) exhibited the most fierce inhibitory effect and had a relatively stable adsorption performance. In the ternary system, the adsorption order was Cu(II) > Cd(II) > Pb(II). In density functional theory (DFT) calculations, we combined the molecular electrostatic potentials, binding energies, differential charges, and total potentials to illustrate the competitive behavior of metal ions at different binding sites. Moreover, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and DFT analysis revealed that the adsorption process of TCIS was dominated by the above functional groups, which caused competitive adsorption among Cd(II), Pb(II), and Cu(II).

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To understand the occupational stress and sub-health level of pharmaceutical marketers in Northeast China, and to analyze their influencing factors and the impact of occupational stress on sub-health. METHODS: From October to December in 2016, we conducted a questionnaire survey about occupational stress and sub-health status of 698 women and 454 men pharmaceutical marketers aged from 22 to 58 years old in northeast China. RESULTS: The rate of occupational stress was 86. 9%. The top 3 stressors with higher scores were the pressure brought about by the intensification of social competition(2. 90±1. 017), the higher standards of job assessment and the great efforts needed by individuals(2. 90±0. 959). The detection rate of sub-health was 82. 1%. There were statistically differences in the rate of sub-health detection among the groups of different genders(χ~2=4. 726, P=0. 030) and different business types(χ~2=7. 961, P=0. 047). There were statistically significant differences in the rate of different ages(χ~2=9. 534, P=0. 009), different marital status(χ~2=7. 010, P=0. 008), different working years(χ~2=18. 082, P<0. 001), and different stress groups(χ~2=152. 565, P<0. 001). Multivariate analysis showed that occupational stress is the key factor affecting sub-health. Mild stress(OR=0. 076, 95%CI 0. 040-0. 143)and moderate stress(OR=0. 348, 95%CI 0. 189-0. 641)are the protected factors of sub-health. CONCLUSION: The occupational stress rate and sub-health detection rate of medical marketers were both higher. Relieving the pressure of pharmaceutical marketers effectively can improve their sub-health status.
