RESUMO

Olefin/paraffin separations are among the most energy-intensive processes in the petrochemical industry, with ethylene being the most widely consumed chemical feedstock. Adsorptive separation utilizing molecular sieving adsorbents can optimize energy efficiency, whereas the size-exclusive mechanism alone cannot achieve multiple olefin/paraffin sieving in a single adsorbent. Herein, an unprecedented sieving adsorbent, BFFOUR-Cu-dpds (BFFOUR = BF4-, dpds = 4,4'-bipyridinedisulfide), is reported for simultaneous sieving of C2-C4 olefins from their corresponding paraffins. The interlayer spaces can be selectively opened through stronger guest-host interactions induced by unsaturated C = C bonds in olefins, as opposed to saturated paraffins. In equimolar six-component breakthrough experiments (C2H4/C2H6/C3H6/C3H8/n-C4H8/n-C4H10), BFFOUR-Cu-dpds can simultaneously divide olefins from paraffins in the first column, while high-purity ethylene ( > 99.99%) can be directly obtained through the subsequent column using granular porous carbons. Moreover, gas-loaded single-crystal analysis, in-situ infrared spectroscopy measurements, and computational simulations demonstrate the accommodation patterns, interaction bonds, and energy pathways for olefin/paraffin separations.

RESUMO

Ultraconserved elements (UCEs) are the most conserved regions among the genomes of evolutionarily distant species and are thought to play critical biological functions. However, some UCEs rapidly evolved in specific lineages, and whether they contributed to adaptive evolution is still controversial. Here, using an increased number of sequenced genomes with high taxonomic coverage, we identified 2191 mammalian UCEs and 5938 avian UCEs from 95 mammal and 94 bird genomes, respectively. Our results show that these UCEs are functionally constrained and that their adjacent genes are prone to widespread expression with low expression diversity across tissues. Functional enrichment of mammalian and avian UCEs shows different trends indicating that UCEs may contribute to adaptive evolution of taxa. Focusing on lineage-specific accelerated evolution, we discover that the proportion of fast-evolving UCEs in nine mammalian and 10 avian test lineages range from 0.19% to 13.2%. Notably, up to 62.1% of fast-evolving UCEs in test lineages are much more likely to result from GC-biased gene conversion (gBGC). A single cervid-specific gBGC region embracing the uc.359 allele significantly alters the expression of Nova1 and other neural-related genes in the rat brain. Combined with the altered regulatory activity of ancient gBGC-induced fast-evolving UCEs in eutherians, our results provide evidence that synergy between gBGC and selection shaped lineage-specific substitution patterns, even in the most constrained regulatory elements. In summary, our results show that gBGC played an important role in facilitating lineage-specific accelerated evolution of UCEs, and further support the idea that a combination of multiple evolutionary forces shapes adaptive evolution.

RESUMO

We incorporate the strong Allee effect and fear effect in prey into a Leslie-Gower model. The origin is an attractor, which implies that the ecological system collapses at low densities. Qualitative analysis reveals that both effects are crucial in determining the dynamical behaviors of the model. There can be different types of bifurcations such as saddle-node bifurcation, non-degenerate Hopf bifurcation with a simple limit cycle, degenerate Hopf bifurcation with multiple limit cycles, Bogdanov-Takens bifurcation, and homoclinic bifurcation.

RESUMO

In this work, we first modify a Lotka-Volterra predator-prey system to incorporate an opportunistic predator and weak Allee effect in prey. The prey will be extinct if the combined effect of hunting and other food resources of predator is large. Otherwise, the dynamic behaviour of the system is extremely rich. A series of bifurcations such as saddle-node bifurcation, Hopf bifurcation, and Bogdanov-Takens bifurcation can happen. The validity of the theoretical results are supported with numerical simulations.

RESUMO

One-step separation of C2H4 from ternary C2H2/C2H4/C2H6 hydrocarbon mixtures is of great significance in the industry but is challenging due to the similar sizes and physical properties of C2H2, C2H4, and C2H6. Here, we report an anion-pillared hybrid ultramicroporous material, CuTiF6-TPPY, that has the ability of selective recognition of C2H4 over C2H2 and C2H6. The 4,6-connected fsc framework of CuTiF6-TPPY exhibits semi-cage-like one-dimensional channels sustained by porphyrin rings and TiF62- pillars, which demonstrates the noticeably enhanced adsorption of C2H2 and C2H6 over C2H4. Dynamic breakthrough experiments confirm the direct and facile high-purity C2H4 (>99.9%) production from a ternary gas mixture of C2H2/C2H6/C2H4 (1/9/90, v/v/v) under ambient conditions. Computational studies and in situ infrared reveal that the porphyrin moieties with large π-surfaces form multiple van der Waals interactions with C2H6; meanwhile, the polar TiF62- pillars form C-H•••F hydrogen bonding with C2H2. In contrast, the recognition sites for C2H4 in the framework are less marked.

RESUMO

The CRISPR/Cas9 system has been used in a wide range of applications in the production of gene-edited animals and plants. Most efforts to insert genes have relied on homology-directed repair (HDR)-mediated integration, but this strategy remains inefficient for the production of gene-edited livestock, especially monotocous species such as cattle. Although efforts have been made to improve HDR efficiency, other strategies have also been proposed to circumvent these challenges. Here we demonstrate that a homology-mediated end-joining (HMEJ)-based method can be used to create gene-edited cattle that displays precise integration of a functional gene at the ROSA26 locus. We found that the HMEJ-based method increased the knock-in efficiency of reporter genes by eightfold relative to the traditional HDR-based method in bovine fetal fibroblasts. Moreover, we identified the bovine homology of the mouse Rosa26 locus that is an accepted genomic safe harbor and produced three live-born gene-edited cattle with higher rates of pregnancy and birth, compared with previous work. These gene-edited cattle exhibited predictable expression of the functional gene natural resistance-associated macrophage protein-1 (NRAMP1), a metal ion transporter that should and, in our experiments does, increase resistance to bovine tuberculosis, one of the most detrimental zoonotic diseases. This research contributes to the establishment of a safe and efficient genome editing system and provides insights for gene-edited animal breeding.

RESUMO

A mononuclar six-coordinate dysprosium complex was synthesized and structurally and magnetically characterized. X-ray structural analyses show trigonal-prismatic coordination geometry of the DyIII center. Slow relaxation of magnetization in the absence of a direct-current field and magnetic hysteresis up to 3.0 K could be observed, indicating its single-ion-magnet behavior. Arrhenius fitting and ab initio calculations suggest that the magnetic relaxation process may not occur through the Orbach process at high temperatures under the experimental conditions.

RESUMO

Flow-injection chemiluminescence was applied to determine the trace polyhydroxy phenol in environment (soil and water). Based on the comparison of several different chemiluminescence systems and optimization, an alkaline luminol-NaIO4 system for determinating polyhydroxy phenol was chosen. During the process of polyhydroxy phenol determination, the effect of dissolved humic acid (HA) on the determination of phenol by this chemiluminescence system was also considered, which generally coexists in soil and water widely. Thus the present work provided the reference for the determination of the real samples coming from soil or water. An obvious restraining effect of humic acid on the chemiluminescence signal obtained by the luminol-NaIO4-polyhydroxy phenol system was found, which shows a linear relationship with the concentration of HA in a certain range, the linear equation is y = 70.36x + 540.1, the correlation coefficient is 0. 9954, the linear range is between 3-15 mg x L(-1), the limitation of detection is 0.749 mg x L(-1), and the relative standard deviation (RSD) is 1.08% when the concentration of HA is 6 mg x L(-1). The possible working mechanism of humic acid here is discussed and deduced.
