RESUMO

Atmospheric exposure is an important pathway of accumulation of lead (Pb) in Oryza sativa L. grains. In this study, source contributions of soil, early atmospheric exposure, and late atmospheric exposure, along with their bioaccumulation ratios were examined both in the pot and field experiments using stable Pb isotope fingerprinting technology combined with a three-compartment accumulation model. Furthermore, genotype differences in airborne Pb accumulation among four field-grown rice cultivars were investigated using the partial least squares path model (PLS-PM) linking rice Pb accumulation to agronomic traits. The findings revealed that during the late growth period, the air-foliar-grain transfer of Pb was crucial for rice Pb accumulation. Approximately 69-82% of the Pb found in polished rice was contributed by atmospheric source, with more than 80% accumulating during the late growth stage. The air accumulation ratios of rice grains were genotype-specific and estimated to be 0.364-1.062 m3/g during the late growth. Notably, grain size exhibited the highest standardized total effects on the airborne Pb concentrations in the polished rice, followed by leaf Pb and the upward translocation efficiency of Pb. The present study indicates that mitigating the health risks associated with Pb in rice can be achieved by controlling atmospheric Pb levels during the late growth stage and choosing Japonica inbred varieties characterized by large grain size.

RESUMO

STUDY DESIGN: Systematic review and meta-analysis. OBJECTIVE: There is some controversy about the effects of calcitonin (CT) on lumbar spinal stenosis (LSS). This systematic review and meta-analysis is to assess the strength of the evidence supporting the use of CT in the treatment of patients with LSS. MATERIAL AND METHOD: We performed an electronic search depicting randomized controlled trials (RCTs) through 4 databases from the date of database creation to January 2023. 3 different researchers conducted independent literature screening, data extractions, and quality assessments. The outcome measures included visual analogue scale (VAS), walking distance, and oswestry disability index (ODI). Meta-analysis and trial sequence analysis (TSA) were carried out using RevMan 5.4, Stata 16.0, and TSA 0.9. GRADE 3.6 was used to evaluate the evidence quality. RESULTS: We accepted 9 studies with 496 participants. The meta-analysis revealed that CT offered no significant improvement in VAS, walking distance, or ODI in patients with LSS. CONCLUSION: There is no evidence that CT has a benefit in patients with LSS, either alone or in combination with other treatments, or depending on the route of administration, according to the systematic review and meta-analysis of relevant RCTs.

RESUMO

Chronic psychological stress contributes to the occurrence of cancer and activates the renin-angiotensin system (RAS). However, the mechanisms by which RAS promotes the progression of breast cancer (BRCA) under chronic psychological stress are remain unknown. In this study, we observed elevated levels of Angiotensin II (Ang II) in both serum and BRCA tissue under chronic stress, leading to accelerated BRCA growth in a mouse model. An antihypertensive drug, candesartan (an AT1 inhibitor), effectively attenuated Ang II-induced cell proliferation and metastasis. Utilizing mass spectrometry and weighted gene co-expression network analysis (WGCNA), we identified fibronectin 1 (FN1) as the hub protein involved in chronic stress-Ang II/AT1 axis. Focal adhesion pathway was identified as a downstream signaling pathway activated during the progression of chronic stress. Depletion of FN1 significantly attenuated Ang II-induced proliferation and metastasis of BRCA cells. Poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase 1 (PARP1) was found to bind to the DNA promoter of FN1, leading to the transcription of FN1. Ang II upregulated PARP1 expression, resulting in increased FN1 levels. Recombinant FN1 partially restored the progress of BRCA malignancy induced by the Ang II/PARP1 pathway. In vivo, candesartan reversed the progressive effect of chronic psychological stress on BRCA. In clinical samples, Ang II levels in both serum and tumor tissues are higher in stressed patients compared to control patients. Serum Ang II levels were positively correlated with chronic stress indicators. In conclusion, our study demonstrated that chronic psychological stress accelerates the malignancy of BRCA, and the AT1 inhibitor candesartan counteracts these effects by suppressing the Ang II-AT1 axis and the downstream PARP1/FN1/focal adhesion pathway.

RESUMO

Breast cancer is the most common cancer in the world, with metastasis being one of the leading causes of death among patients. The acidic environment of breast cancer tissue promotes tumor cell invasion and migration by inducing epithelial-mesenchymal transformation (EMT) in tumor cells, but the exact mechanisms are not yet fully understood. This study investigated the expression of acid-sensitive ion channel 1a (ASIC1a) in breast cancer tissue samples and explored the mechanisms by which ASIC1a mediates the promotion of EMT in breast cancer cells in an acidic microenvironment through in vivo and in vitro experiments. The results showed that first, the expression of ASIC1a was significantly upregulated in breast cancer tissue and was correlated with the TNM (tumor node metastasis) staging of breast cancer. Furthermore, ASIC1a expression was higher in tumors with lymph node metastasis than in those without. Second, the acidic microenvironment promoted [Ca2+ ]i influx via ASIC1a activation and regulated the expression of ß-catenin, Vimentin, and E-cadherin, thus promoting EMT in breast cancer cells. Inhibition of ASIC1a activation with PcTx-1 could suppress EMT in breast cancer cells. Finally, in vivo studies also showed that inhibition of ASIC1a could reduce breast cancer metastasis, invasion, and EMT. This study suggests that ASIC1a expression is associated with breast cancer staging and metastasis. Therefore, ASIC1a may become a new breast cancer biomarker, and the elucidation of the mechanism by which ASIC1a promotes EMT in breast cancer under acidic microenvironments provides evidence for the use of ASIC1a as a molecular target for breast cancer treatment.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To determine the clinical efficacy of different manipulation in the treatment of cervical instability in young people, and to analyze the risk factors of relapse of cervical instability in young people. METHODS: From March 2021 to June 2022, the clinical data of 120 young patients with cervical instability were retrospectively analyzed. According to the different treatment methods, they were divided into rotation group (60 cases, 3 cases of loss) and tendon group (60 cases, 5 cases of loss). There were 25 males and 32 females in rotation-traction manipulation group;age ranged from 22 to 44 years old with a median of 28 years old;course of disease ranged from 0.17 to 120 months with amedian of 22 months. There were 22 males and 33 females in tendon-regulating manipulation group;age ranged from 21 to 42 years old with a median of 27 years old;course of disease ranged from 0.23 to 180 months with a median of 24 months. Both groups were treated for 2 weeks, once every other day for 7 times, and were followed up for 1 year. The clinical efficacy of the two groups was evaluated, and the visual analogue scale (VAS), neck disability index (NDI) were observed before and after treatment. One year after the course of treatment, patients with effective treatment were followed up to make statistics on recurrence. Patients with recurrence were included in the recurrence group, while those without recurrence were included in the non-recurrence group. Factors that may affect symptom recurrence were analyzed, and univariate and multivariate Logistic regression analysis were performed. RESULTS: The 13 patients who failed the treatment (4 cases in the rotation-traction manipulation group and 9 cases in the tendon-regulating manipulation group) were not followed up. All the 99 patients who were effective in treatment were followed up ranged from 303 to 406 days with a median of 359 days. No complications occurred in all patients. There were significant differences in VAS and NDI between the two groups after treatment and before treatment (P<0.05), and there were significant differences in VAS and NDI between the two groups after treatment (P<0.05). Ninety-nine patients achieved follow-up, 56 (56.57%) relapsed and 43 (43.43%) did not. Univariate correlation analysis showed that NDI index, the time spent at the desk every day, the time spent using electronic products every day and angular displacement of anterior flexion before treatment in the relapse group were significantly higher than those in the non-relapse group (P<0.05). Logistic regression analysis showed that the time spent at the desk every day [OR=2.447, 95%CI(1.255, 4.771)], the time spent using electronic products every day [OR=1.892, 95%CI(1.066, 3.358)] and the angular displacement of anterior flexion of the cervical before treatment [OR=1.246, 95%CI(1.045, 1.485) ]were the risk factors for relapse. CONCLUSION: Both rotation-traction manipulation and tendon-regulating manipulation can effectively treat cervical instability in young people, and rotation-traction manipulation has more advantages than tendon-regulating manipulation in improving cervical pain and cervical dysfunction in patients. The time spent at the desk every day, the time spent using electronic products every day, and the increase of cervical flexion angle displacement will increase the risk of relapse in patients.

RESUMO

Clinical efficacy is the basis for the development of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM), and the evaluation of clinical efficacy of TCM has always been the focus of attention. The technical and methodological difficulties in the evaluation process often restrict the generation of high-level evidence. Therefore, methodological research should be deepened and innovative practice should be carried out to study the application of scientific research methods in the evaluation of the advantages of TCM. After more than ten years of development, the clinical efficacy evaluation of TCM, on the basis of the initially classic placebo randomized controlled trials, has successively carried out a series of meaningful attempts and explorations in N-of-1 trials, cohort studies, case-control studies, cross-sectional studies, real world studies, narrative medicine studies, systematic evaluation, and other aspects, laying the foundation for the transformation of TCM from "experience" to "evidence". This paper focused on the clinical efficacy evaluation of TCM, summarized the main connotation and development status of efficacy evaluation indicators, standards, and methods, and put forward corresponding countermeasures and suggestions for the problems of indicator selection, standard formulation, and methodology optimization in the research process. It is clear that scientific and objective evaluation of the efficacy of TCM is an urgent problem to be solved at present.

RESUMO

Amid the modernization and internationalization of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM), the safety of TCM has attracted much attention. At the moment, the government, scientific research teams, and pharmaceutical enterprises have made great efforts to explore methods and techniques for clinical safety evaluation of TCM. Although considerable achievements have been made, there are still many problems, such as the non-standard terms of adverse reactions of TCM, unclear evaluation indicators, unreasonable judgment methods, lack of evaluation models, out-of-date evaluation standards, and unsound reporting systems. Therefore, it is urgent to further deepen the research mode and method of clinical safety evaluation of TCM. Based on the current national requirements for the life-cycle management of drugs, this study focused on the problems in the five dimensions of clinical safety evaluation of TCM, including normative terms, evaluation modes, judgment methods, evaluation standards, and reporting systems, and proposed suggestions on the development of a life-cycle clinical safety evaluation method that conformed to the characteristics of TCM, hoping to provide a reference for future research.

RESUMO

A modified QuEChERS method coupled with high performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (HPLC-MS/MS) was established for residue analysis of 39 pollutants (34 commonly used multi-class pesticides and 5 metabolites) in medlar matrices (fresh, dried, and medlar juice). Samples were extracted using water with 0.1 % formic acid: acetonitrile (5: 10, v/v). The phase-out salts and five different cleanup sorbents (including N-propyl ethylenediamine (PSA), octadecyl silane bonded silica gel (C18), graphitized carbon black (GCB), Carbon nanofiber (C-Fiber) and MWCNTs) were investigated to improve the purification efficiency. The Box-Behnken Design (BBD) study was employed for an optimal solution of the volume of extraction solvent, phase-out salt, and the purification sorbents for the analytical method. The average recoveries of the target analytes in the three medlar matrices ranged from 70 % to 119 % with relative standard deviations (RSDs) of 1.0 %-19.9 %. Screening of market samples (fresh and dried medlars) collected from the major producing regions in China showed that 15 pesticides and metabolites were detected in the samples at concentrations of 0.01-2.22 mg/kg, and none of which exceeded the maximum residue limits (MRLs) set in China. The results showed that the risk of food safety by consumption of medlar products caused by the use of pesticides was low. The validated method could be used for rapid and accurate screening of multi-class multi-pesticide residues in Medlar for food safety.

RESUMO

Forchlorfenuron (CPPU) is a plant growth regulator widely applied on kiwifruit to improve yield, however, there are rarely reports on its effects on the nutrients of kiwifruits. Based on UHPLC-Q-TOF-MS, the effects of CPPU on metabolism profile and nutrient substances of two kiwifruit varieties during development were investigated by non-targeted metabolomics. A total of 115 metabolites were identified, and 29 differential metabolites were confirmed and quantified using certified reference standards. Metabolic profile indicated that CPPU promoted kiwifruit development during the main expansion stages at the molecular level, and the effects varied slightly for different varieties. In the early and middle stages of kiwifruit development, the anthocyanin, flavone and flavonol biosynthesis were down-regulated in both varieties, and flavanols biosynthesis was down-regulated only in Hayward variety. Arginine biosynthesis was down-regulated at all stages till the harvest. Although the synthesis of these nutrient substances in kiwifruits was mostly down-regulated by CPPU, the negative effects became mild at harvest time, and positively, the significant increase of sucrose and decrease of organic acids at harvest time could help to improve the taste of kiwifruits.

RESUMO

The widespread use of neonicotinoids has led to their frequent detection in the environment and potential environmental risk in recent years. Clothianidin (CLO) and thiamethoxam (TMX), as the second generation of neonicotinoid insecticides, are usually used as seed agents with a high risk of residue in the soil. Efficient degradation of CLO and TMX in soil using peroxymonosulfate (PMS) process was investigated in the present study. The degradation efficiencies of CLO and TMX reached 91.4% and 98.6% in 60 min with the addition of 20 mM PMS at pH 5.5 and 25℃. High degradation efficiencies of CLO were achieved with a high PMS dosage and temperature or a low CLO concentration and initial pH. The degradation of CLO was reduced in the presence of high concentration of inorganic anions (Cl-, HCO3-). Soil organic matter might be one critical factor in the degradation of CLO and TMX. Radical scavenger experiments confirmed SO4•- and 1O2 were the dominant reactive species on the CLO and TMX degradation. Based on the detected degradation intermediates, the degradation pathways of CLO and TMX include dichlorination, hydroxylation, cleavage of C-N or C-C bond and further oxidation in the PMS-based soil. Overall, the PMS process is one effective and economical method for the remediation of the neonicotinoid contaminated soil.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: This research explored the biological role and underlying mechanisms of carboxypeptidase vitellogenic-like (CPVL) in the progression of osteosarcoma. METHODS: Through mining of microarray data from the GEO database and utilization of qRT-PCR and Western blot analyses, CPVL expression in osteosarcoma tissues and cells was evaluated. RNA interference and lentiviral transduction techniques were applied to edit the CPVL gene. RNA-seq was used to screen for the downstream target genes of CPVL. RESULTS: In both osteosarcoma biopsy samples and cell lines, the expression of CPVL was abnormally higher than that in normal cells or osteoblasts. CPVL silencing notably inhibited the proliferative activity of osteosarcoma cells, whereas CPVL overexpression had the opposite effect. CPVL silencing had potent tumor-suppressive ability in a xenograft osteosarcoma model in nude mice. CPVL silencing significantly suppressed osteosarcoma cell migration, invasion and EMT, whereas CPVL overexpression accelerated these events. Downstream genes related to the occurrence and development of osteosarcoma, including TGF-ß/Smad signaling pathway molecules (TGF-ß2, TGF-ßR1, Smad2/3, and Smad5), were suppressed by CPVL silencing. CONCLUSIONS: High CPVL expression in osteosarcoma not only promoted tumor growth but also induced the EMT process through the TGF-ß/Smad signaling pathway. CPVL may be a new antitumor therapeutic target for osteosarcoma.

RESUMO

Although some advances have been made in the treatment of osteosarcoma in recent years, surgical resection remains the mainstream treatment. Initial and early diagnosis of osteosarcoma could be very difficult to achieve due to the insufficient sensitivity for the means of examination. The distal metastasis of osteosarcoma also predicts the poor prognosis of osteosarcoma. In order to solve this series of problems, people begin to discover a new method of diagnosing and treating osteosarcoma. Ubiquitination, as an emerging posttranslational modification, has been shown to be closely related to osteosarcoma in studies over the past decades. In general, this review describes the cellular functions and molecular mechanisms of ubiquitination during the development of osteosarcoma.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To explore clinical symptoms and X-ray imaging features of cervical instability in young adult represented by postgraduates with a master's degree in medicine. METHODS: Totally 91 postgraduates with a master's degree in medicine were investigated from September to December 2021, including 45 males and 46 females;aged from 22 to 30 years old with an average of (25.30±2.18) years old. The cervical spondylosis-related discomfort symptoms of the subjects were collected and examined by the examiner for neck and shoulder tenderness point examination and cervical vertebra positive and lateral and functional X-ray radiography. According to the results of X-ray examination, the subjects were divided into stable cervical group and unstable cervical group. RESULTS: Among 91 subjects, there were 50 patients with cervical instability, accounting for 54.90% of total number of subjects. The cervical curvature was abnormal in 78 patients, accounting for 85.70% of total number of subjects. Among 50 patients with cervical instability, 50 patients were diagnosed as cervical instability on the basis of angular displaxement(AD)≥ 11 °, including 13 cases of C3,4 instability, 30 cases of C4,5 instability and 7 cases of C5,6 instability;and 5 cases were diagnosed as cervical instability based on horizontal displacement(HD)≥ 3.5 mm, including 1 case of C3,4 instability and 4 cases of C4,5 instability. Compared with stable cervical group, the number of discomfort symptoms of neck pain, headache and shoulder pain in instability group was significantly higher than that of in stable cervical group(P<0.05);and the number of tenderness in spinous process space of C4,5 and C5,6, 2 cm adjacent to the spinous process of C2-C5 and the superior angle of the scapula (the stop point of levator scapulae) in the instability group was significantly higher than that in the stable cervical group (P<0.05);and the cervical curvature in the instability group was significantly lower than that in stable cervical group(P<0.05). CONCLUSION: The incidence of cervical instability in young adult represented by postgraduates with a master's degree in medicine is high, they are mainly diagnosed as cervical instability on the basis of vertebral angular displacement ≥ 11°, and the instability segments are concentrated on C3,4, C4,5 and C5,6 segments, the occurrence of cervical instability is often accompanied by abnormalities of cervical curvature. Most of clinical manifestations are head, neck and shoulder pain, especially neck pain in unstable segment.

RESUMO

Objective: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of Zhibitai (ZBT) in the treatment of patients with hyperlipidemia (HLP). Methods: A search of 8 electronic databases was conducted to find randomized controlled trials (RCTs), to evaluate the efficacy and safety of ZBT for the treatment of HLP. The risk of bias in randomized controlled trials was assessed by using the Cochrane Collaboration Risk of Bias tool for randomized controlled trials 2.0 (RoB 2.0). The primary outcomes were the levels of triglyceride (TG), total cholesterol (TC), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C). The total effective rate served as the secondary outcome. The incidence of adverse events was considered the safety outcome. Review Manager 5.4 was used to conduct meta-analyses. Data were pooled by random-effects or fixed-effects model to obtain the mean difference (MD), risk ratio (RR), odds ratio (OR), and 95% confidence interval (CI). Results: There were 28 eligible RCTs with a total of 2,952 participants. Overall, we verified that ZBT plus conventional therapy (CT) was superior to CT for the treatment of HLP [TC: MD = -0.50, 95% CI (-0.80, -0.19); TG: MD = -0.38, 95% CI (-0.49, -0.27); LDL-C: MD = -0.50, 95% CI (-0.69, -0.31); HDL-C: MD = 0.17, 95% CI (0.11, 0.24); total effective rate: OR = 4.26, 95% CI (2.28, 7.95)]. There were no significant differences in the primary outcomes between ZBT alone vs. CT (p > 0.05). For safety, the ZBT group (with CT or alone) outperformed the CT group [ZBT alone: RR = 0.51, 95% CI (0.32, 0.81); ZBT plus CT: RR = 0.51, 95% CI (0.30, 0.89)]. For each outcome, the subgroups and the sensitivity analysis matched the overall results. Conclusion: ZBT may be safe and beneficial to HLP patients, especially for serum lipid management. ZBT can be used along with CT for the treatment of HLP. However, it is necessary to conduct more rigorous RCTs to confirm these findings. RESUMO

Recent evidence suggests the global incidence and mortality of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) are increasing. Although the highest incidence of HCC remains entrenched in WHO regions with high levels of HBV-HCV infection, the etiology of this disease is rapidly changing to include other lifestyle risk factors. Extrahepatic metastasis is a frequent feature of advanced HCC and most commonly locates in the lungs and bone. Bone metastasis in HCC (HCC-BM) signals a more aggressive stage of disease and a poorer prognosis, simultaneously HCC-BM compromises the function and integrity of bone tissue. HCC induced osteolysis is a prominent feature of metastasis that complicates treatment needed for pathologic fractures, bone pain and other skeletal events like hypercalcemia and nerve compression. Early detection of bone metastases facilitates the treatment strategy for avoiding and relieving complications. Although recent therapeutic advances in HCC like targeting agents and immunotherapy have improved survival, the prognosis for patients with HCC-BM remains problematic. The identification of critical HCC-BM pathways in the bone microenvironment could provide important insights to guide future detection and therapy. This review presents an overview of the clinical development of bone metastases in HCC, identifying key clinical features and identifying potential molecular targets that can be deployed as diagnostic tools or therapeutic agents.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To observe clinical efficacy of chiropractic manipulation in the treatment of degenerative scoliosis (DS). METHODS: From June 2017 to September 2019, 120 patients with degenerative scoliosis were randomly divided into treatment group (60 cases) and control group(60 cases). The patients in treatment group were treated with chiropractic manipulation once every other day for 4 weeks. The patients in control group were treated with eperisone hydrochloride tablets combined with thoracolumbar orthopedic(TSLO)brace, oral eperisone hydrochloride tablets 50 mg three times a day, wearing TSLO brace for not less than 8 hours a day. The course of treatment was 4 weeks. After the patients were selected into the group, visual analogue scale (VAS) and Oswestry Disability Index (ODI) were recorded before treatment, 1, 2, 3, 4 weeks after treatment and 1 month after treatment. The full length X-ray of the spine was taken before and 4 weeks after treatment, and the scoliosis Cobb angle, sagittal vertical axis (SVA) and lumbar lordosis (LL) were measured and compared. The adverse reactions during the treatment were recorded. RESULTS: There were significant differences in VAS and ODI between two groups at each time point after treatment (P<0.001), VAS and ODI at 2 weeks after treatment (PVAS=0.025, PODI=0.032) and 3 weeks after treatment(PVAS=0.040, PODI=0.044) in treatment group were significantly different from those in control group, but there was no significant difference in VAS and ODI at other time points between treatment group and control group (P>0.05). There was significant difference in Cobb angle between treatment group(P=0.010) and control group(P=0.017) after treatment, but there was no significant difference in LL and SVA between treatment group and control group. There was no significant difference in Cobb angle, LL and SVA between two groups before and after treatment. During the treatment, there were 4 mild adverse reactions in the control group and no adverse reactions in the treatment group. CONCLUSION: Chiropractic manipulation can effectively relieve pain and improve lumbar function in patients with degenerative scoliosis. The onset of action is faster than that oral eperisone hydrochloride tablets combined with TSLO brace, and it has better safety and can improve Cobb angle of patients with degenerative scoliosis.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Peroral endoscopic myotomy (POEM) has been demonstrated to be safe and effective in the treatment of achalasia. Longer myotomy is the standard POEM procedure for achalasia but when compared with shorter myotomy, its effectiveness is not as well known. AIM: To compare the clinical effectiveness of longer and shorter myotomy. METHODS: PubMed, EmBase, Cochrane Library, web of science and clinicaltrials.gov were queried for studies comparing shorter and longer POEM for achalasia treatment. The primary outcome was clinical success rate. Secondary outcomes comprised of operative time, adverse events (AEs) rate, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and procedure-related parameters. The Mantel-Haenszel fixed-effects model was primarily used for the analysis. Publication bias was assessed. RESULTS: Six studies were included in this analysis with a total of 514 participants. During the follow-up period of 1-28.7 mo, longer and shorter myotomy in treating achalasia showed similar excellent effectiveness [overall clinical success (OR = 1, 95%CI: 0.46-2.17, P = 1, I2: 0%; subgroup of abstract (OR = 1.19, 95%CI: 0.38 to 3.73; P = 0.76; I2: 0%); subgroup of full text (OR = 0.86 95%CI: 0.30 to 2.49; P = 0.78; I2: 0%)]. Shorter myotomy had significantly reduced mean operative time compared with the longer procedure. There were no statistically significant differences in AEs rates, including GERD (overall OR = 1.21, 95%CI: 0.76-1.91; P = 0.42; I2: 9%; subgroup of abstract OR = 0.77, 95%CI: 0.40-1.47; P = 0.43; I2: 0%; subgroup of full text OR = 1.91, 95%CI: 0.98-3.75; P = 0.06; I2: 0%), hospital stay (overall MD = -0.07, 95%CI: -0.30 to 0.16; P = 0.55; I2: 24%; subgroup of abstract MD = 0.20, 95%CI: -0.25 to 0.65; P = 0.39; I2: 0; subgroup of full text MD = -0.16, 95%CI: -0.42 to 0.10; P = 0.23; I2: 42%), and major bleeding (overall OR = 1.25, 95%CI: 0.58-2.71; P = 0.56; I2: 0%) between the two procedures. These differences remained statistically non-significant in all sensitivity analyses. CONCLUSION: POEM was effective in treating achalasia. Shorter and longer myotomy procedures provided similar therapeutic effects in terms of long-term effectiveness. In addition, shorter myotomy reduced the operative time.

RESUMO

This study developed a quick, easy, cheap, effective, rugged, and safe (QuEChERS) procedure for determining seven pyrethroid pesticide residues in tea, cucumber, and tomato via high-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (HPLC-MS/MS). The overall average recoveries of the seven pyrethroids were 72%-104% (relative standard deviation (RSD); 2.0%-16.1%, 89%-109% (RSD; 0.7%-17.3%), 82%-110% (RSD; 1.6%-17.1%) for tea, cucumber and tomato, respectively. The determination coefficient (R2), the limit of detection (LOD), and the limit of quantification (LOQ) were ≥ 0.99, 0.007-1.875 µg kg-1, and 0.025-6.250 µg kg-1, respectively. The method was successfully used to monitor the pyrethroid pesticide residues in market samples. HPLC-MS/MS rapidly, sensitively, and accurately determined the pyrethroid pesticide residues.

RESUMO

The mixed application of pesticides and foliar fertilizer has been widely used in the production of cucumber, however, their effects on plant growth and pesticide dissipation are still unclear. In this study, the effects of mixed application of pymetrozine, tebuconazole and foliar fertilizer on the cucumber plant growth and pesticide dissipation were investigated simultaneously. The results show that the mixed use of pymetrozine, tebuconazole, especially adding foliar fertilizer, improved the physiological indexes (i.e., area, nitrogen content and chlorophyll content of the leaves, and root growth) of cucumber plants compared to those with the application of single pesticide. Meanwhile, it can significantly affect the dissipation of pymetrozine even in the slower growth matrices (lower leaves, stems, and plants). The residue of tebuconazole in cucumber plants was affected by the combination of formulation type and foliar fertilizer. This study can provide data for scientifically guiding the mixed application of pesticide and fertilizer.

RESUMO

A method was developed for the simultaneous determination of four nereistoxin-related pesticides, viz. cartap, thiocyclam, thiosultap-monosodium, and thiosultap-disodium, in 20 plant foods. The samples were extracted using a hydrochloric acid solution containing cysteine hydrochloride, derivatized to nereistoxin under alkaline conditions, and analyzed by gas chromatography with electron capture detector. The average recoveries of the method were 72-108%, with relative standard deviations (RSDs) of 0.3-14.7% (n = 1200, p < 0.05). The intermediate precision and reproducibility experiments using established methods were also carried out. All the results passed the Cochrane and Grubbs tests (n = 2400, p < 0.05). The RSDs of intermediate precision and RSDs of reproducibility among laboratories were in the ranges 1.7-10.9% and 2.4-15.3% (n = 2400, p < 0.05), respectively, indicating that the accuracy and precision of the method are satisfactory. This method can be used to detect nereistoxin-related pesticides in plant foods.
