RESUMO

In the field of thermal energy storage, organic phase change materials (PCMs) are widely used as functional materials to boost thermal applications. However, there is often a tradeoff between constructing shape-stable composite PCMs with high enthalpy value and those with low leakage rates. Here, we proposed a promising scheme to address this issue. A novel hydrogel consisting of reduced graphene oxide (rGO) and covalent organic framework (COF) was prepared via hydrothermal methods, and the rGO-COF ultralight aerogel with a hierarchical porous structure was formed after freeze-drying. The rGO-COF aerogel shows excellent absorption ability and affinity for organic solvents. It can sufficiently adsorb the molten organic PCMs, such as polyethylene glycol (PEG), and synthesize shape-stable composite PCMs with excellent leak resistance. The COF grown on the surface of rGO has a superior affinity for PEG, so rGO-COF aerogel shows an outstanding PEG loading rate of up to 96.1 wt %, which is 1.7 wt % higher than that of rGO aerogel. In addition, the COF effectively reduces the subcooling of PEG/rGO-COF with 20.3%, compared to PEG/rGO. Meanwhile, the prepared PEG/rGO-COF exhibits extremely high enthalpy and relative enthalpy efficiency (164.6 J/g, 97.4%). This demonstrates that a promising direction was highlighte for the preparation of high-enthalpy shape-stable composite organic PCMs in this work.

RESUMO

Tungsten fiber-reinforced Zr41.25Ti13.75Cu12.5Ni10Be22.5 amorphous matrix composites (hereinafter referred to as Wf/Zr-based amorphous matrix composites) are considered as a potential new generation of projectile material, while the penetration behavior of Wf/Zr-based amorphous matrix composites is not fully clear yet. In order to better understand the penetration behavior of this composite material and study its armor-piercing performance, a ballistic experiment was performed and the hardness and microstructure around the crater of a target material were studied. A ballistic experiment was performed with a projectile of Wf/Zr-based amorphous matrix composite and a target of 4043 steel. After the ballistic experiment, the target was cut through the crater using a wire cutting machine into a sample with size 150 mm × 40 mm × 20 mm, which was later polished by different types of sandpaper. The micro-hardness was analyzed in a micro-hardness tester, and the microstructure was observed by SEM. According to this study, three layers were identified in the direction lateral to the crater, consisting of a martensite layer, a deformation strengthening layer, and the original structure layer. Moreover, the martensite layer initially thickened and then thinned in the direction longitudinal to the crater.

RESUMO

A method for preparation of 1,4,2-dithiazolidine or 1,3-thiazetidine heterocycles was developed by reactions of phenylthioureas with 1,1-dichloro-2-nitroethene. The solvent has a significant influence on the type of product formation. 1,4,2-Dithiazolidines were formed in the aprotic solvent chloroform, while in the protic solvent ethanol, 1,3-thiazetidines were the main products.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Glutathione S-transferases (GSTs) are multifunctional detoxification enzymes that play important roles in insects. The completion of several insect genome projects has enabled the identification and characterization of GST genes over recent years. This study presents a genome-wide investigation of the diamondback moth (DBM), Plutella xylostella, a species in which the GSTs are of special importance because this pest is highly resistant to many insecticides. RESULTS: A total of 22 putative cytosolic GSTs were identified from a published P. xylostella genome and grouped into 6 subclasses (with two unclassified). Delta, Epsilon and Omega GSTs were numerically superior with 5 genes for each of the subclasses. The resulting phylogenetic tree showed that the P. xylostella GSTs were all clustered into Lepidoptera-specific branches. Intron sites and phases as well as GSH binding sites were strongly conserved within each of the subclasses in the GSTs of P. xylostella. Transcriptome-, RNA-seq- and qRT-PCR-based analyses showed that the GST genes were developmental stage- and strain-specifically expressed. Most of the highly expressed genes in insecticide resistant strains were also predominantly expressed in the Malpighian tubules, midgut or epidermis. CONCLUSIONS: To date, this is the most comprehensive study on genome-wide identification, characterization and expression profiling of the GST family in P. xylostella. The diversified features and expression patterns of the GSTs are inferred to be associated with the capacity of this species to develop resistance to a wide range of pesticides and biological toxins. Our findings provide a base for functional research on specific GST genes, a better understanding of the evolution of insecticide resistance, and strategies for more sustainable management of the pest.
