RESUMO

Experimental model of Opisthorchis felineus superinvasion was reproduced in 30 piglets aged 3 months. The pigs were infected by feeding them 100 g of sausage fish with the mean invasion intensity of 0.8-1 metacercaria per g of muscle tissue. A repeated infestation with a similar dose was carried out in a month. The invasion developed in 14 of the 30 animals. Histologic examinations of the liver, carried out in 2.5 months after the first infestation, have revealed diffuse persistent hepatitis in 9 animals and aggressive hepatitis in 4. Proliferative changes in the epithelium of the intrahepatic gall ducts with polyposis and diffuse focal infiltration of the wall mucosa with plasma and lymphoid cells, fibroblasts and eosinophils were found, characteristic of human opisthorchiasis. Pigs may be used as a model for experimental opisthorchiasis in research.

RESUMO

The authors had 10 patients with isolated injury to the gallbladder and 51 patients with injury to the liver in coexistent opisthorchiasis. An emergency operation was undertaken in all of them. The structural changes of the hepatobiliary system in chronic opisthorchiasis in man and the intraductal biliary hypertension induced by them form a morphofunctional complex which promotes the escape of bile and the development of the biliary peritonitis even in mild injury to the liver. Cholecystectomy in indicated in isolated injuries to the gallbladder. Decompression of the biliary tract and drainage of the abdominal cavity are necessary for the prevention of biliary peritonitis in the postoperative period in patients with opisthorchiasis. The total mortality was 17.6%.

RESUMO

Retrospective analysis of medical documentation of the Tobolsk integrated prosectorium in 1950-1987 was made. Uncomplicated opisthorchiasis as the major and direct cause of death was not encountered. In thanatogenesis the complicated opisthorchiasis generally appeared as a mixed abnormality. No evolving opisthorchiasis-induced pathology was found. Positive pathomorphism of opisthorchiasis developed.

RESUMO

Postmortem microscopic examinations and morphometry of the tissue components of the major duodenal papilla in 90 residents of the Tobolsk district who had long time suffered from opisthorchiasis revealed three variants of chronic proliferative papillitis: adenomatous, adenofibroplastic, and sclerosing. They reflect the successive stages of the inflammatory and immunologic reactions of the patients to long-term parasitising of opisthorchiases. Hyperplastic and inflammatory-sclerosing processes in the wall of the papilla ampoule are the main factor in the pathogenesis of diffuse cylindrical cholangiectasia frequently observed in chronic opisthorchiasis.

RESUMO

The first part of the International classification of neoplastic diseases of haemopoietic and lymphatic tissues by Mathé et al is discussed. The classification is exhaustive but the Table does not include all varieties of hemoblastoses mentioned in the explanatory text and shown in illustrations. Some of the terms seem disputable or inaccurate. The structure of leukemias (623 cases) based on the data of the Sverdlovsk regional haematological centre for 1975-1979 is presented, as reconsidered according to the above classification. The role of trepanobiopsies in diagnosis of leukemias is emphasized.

RESUMO

Clinico-anatomical examination of 547 patients with chronic opisthorchiasis has revealed the dislocation of intrahepatic biliary ducts onto the gallbladder wall and into the prolonged left triangular ligament of the liver. The authors believe that in order to prevent biliary peritonitis after operation on the organs of the upper part of the abdominal cavity, the ducts should not be injured during the operation, they should be ligated prior to cholecystectomy and section of the left triangular ligament.
