RESUMO
The authors present the clinic, radiological and endoscopical control of 280 patients with chagasic megaesophagus, submitted to dilatation of the cardia with "pneumatic balloon". The purpose of this work was to demonstrate the efficiency of the method, and its great importance especially when performed by a general practitioner. They also comment on the advantages of this being a method which can be performed in out-patient wards with a low complication rate. In case of no efficiency of the method other therapeutic measures can be used.
