[Preceptorship in the perspective of comprehensive care: conversations with nurses]. / Preceptoria na perspectiva da integralidade: conversando com enfermeiros.

The aim of this study was to understand preceptorship in nursing practice fields and its association with comprehensive care. This study was based on qualitative field research conducted in Fortaleza, Ceará, Brazil, from April to June 2012. A total of 20 preceptors were interviewed in the practice fields of three higher education institutions at three public state hospitals and one basic health unit Thematic analysis enabled apprehension of the theme 'preceptorship in the perspective of comprehensive care' and the empirical categories: (dis)articulation in teaching-service: distancing from academic institutions; welcoming students in the practice field. On the field, routine teaches: articulation in teaching-service from the preceptor's perspective. Results showed that teaching-service integration is at risk in light of biologicism and the gap between teaching institutions and health services, but that it is a way of constructing the necessary changes to consolidate the National Health Service.

[Experiencing acute stroke: the meaning of the illness for hospitalized patients]. / Vivendo o acidente vascular encefálico agudo: significados da doença para pessoas hospitalizadas.

The aim was to understand the meaning of the experience of the acute stroke patient. This was a qualitative study, based on the conceptual theory of symbolic interaction. It was conducted in a unit specialized in the treatment of stroke at a tertiary hospital in Fortaleza-CE and the ethical aspects were respected. The study included ten patients and data were collected through open interviews. The data were organized and analyzed according to enunciation techniques. The meaning of the illness experience was constructed based on the perception of the feelings that arose during the hospitalization and was characterized by fear of death and the sequelae of the disease; sorrow for the distance from home; relief, when a patient perceived an improved clinical course; and a desire to change one´s lifestyle. The experience of illness due to stroke is complex, as meanings are elaborated ​​from the feelings, actions and behaviors of the subjects.

[Cardiovascular risk factors in young adults of a city of the Brazilian northeastern]. / Fatores de risco cardiovascular em adultos jovens de um município do Nordeste brasileiro.

This study investigates the cardiovascular risk factors in young adults in the interior of northeastern Brazil. This quantitative study conducted with 351 young adults from school 12 public schools in Juazeiro do Norte, Ceará, at random selected and stratified by school and turn. The results were mostly female, mixed, combining study and work, without a partner and living with their parents. There was physical inactivity (57.3%), obesity/ overweight (19.4%), adding salt to food (54.4%), alcohol intake (76.1%), hypertension (1.1%) with 50 % of non-adherence to treatment, diabetes mellitus (0.6%) and family history of cardiovascular disease (86.3%). To characterize the cardiovascular risk in young adults directs health actions and potential partnerships with schools.

[Use of alteplase in the treatment of acute ischemic stroke: what nurses know?]. / Uso de alteplase no tratamento do acidente vascular encefálico isquêmico agudo: o que sabem os enfermeiros?

The study aimed at analyzing the knowledge of nurses about the use of alteplase in the treatment of acute ischemic stroke. An exploratory descriptive study was conducted in a stroke unit of a public hospital in the city of Fortaleza, Brazil, in the month of October 2010. The study included ten nurses, with a mean age of 25 years. The benefits of medication were presented in juxtaposition with the limitations of use. Strategies to expand the use of alteplase were pointed out by nurses. The knowledge of the investigation may contribute to the construction of nursing knowledge and help nurses who provide direct care to patients who undergo this treatment.

[The nurse interacting and relating: the context of nursing care in a semi-intensive unit]. / A enfermeira interagindo e se relacionando: o contexto do cuidado de enfermagem em unidade semi-intensiva.

This study aimed to understand the meaning of nursing care to nurses in the hospital. This is a qualitative research, based on theoretical and methodological assumptions of symbolic interaction. It was performed in a semi-intensive unit of a tertiary public hospital in Fortaleza-CE, Brazil. Eleven nurses participated on it. For data collection, it was used semi-structured interviews and field observation simple and, in data processing it was performed thematic category. The ethical aspects have been respected. It was observed that the nursing care means the establishment of the nurse's interpersonal relationships with other health professionals, patients and their accompanying persons. It was understood that, for nurses of the hospital, nursing care means social interaction with people.

[Interpreting the hospitalization experiences of patients with spine lesion]. / Interpretando as experiências da hospitalização de pacientes com lesão medular.

Qualitative study with theoretical axis in symbolic interactionism interpretative of Norman Denzin that had as objective to comprehend the meanings of experiences lived by being victim of spine lesion in context hospital and to describe the narratives in range of experiences lived. The subjects of research were seven patient victims of spine lesion traumatic hospitalized in unity of neurology of Institute Dr. José Frota, sited in Fortaleza/Ce. Interpreted hard fronting to balance of oneself, given to sudden breaking of trajectory of their lives, the organic alterations acquired that pass to be motives of fears, uncertain, non-comfort and menace to life that had along their families.

[Family caregiver activity: meanings and beliefs]. / O fazer do cuidador familiar: significados e crenças.

This qualitative study aims at apprehending the meanings and beliefs of caregiver of people with methabolic syndrome in the domiciliar context. It used the symbolic interactionism as theoretical referential, following the content analysis approach of Bardin. For data collection the semi-structured interviews and the free observation were used, in the period from march to may, 2005. The results demonstrate important work overload delivered to the relative by the caregiver, which implies in meaningful impact about physical, emotional and social health. It was concluded that reflections about the person who is continously involved with their relatives' care must be intensified, aiming at a better preparation of them to domiciliar therapeutic accompanying.

[Management in nursing: a critical view about the knowledge produced in Brazilian journals (2000-2004)]. / Gerenciamento em Enfermagem: um olhar crítico sobre o conhecimento produzido em periódicos brasileiros (2000-2004).

This study aimed at analyzing the scientific production about management in nursing in Brazilian journals through bibliographic research in the period from 2000 to 2004. This bibliographic study considered data bases and libraries during the period of May to July 2005. From the texts submitted to categorization apprehended the following categories: general considerations about management; the formation of nurse in management area; models of management in nursing in practice and management theories used; difficulties in nursing management; suggestions of changes and solutions to be searched. The confronts and reflections pointed out the need of transformation of management in direction to a participative and flexive posture, valuing the human potential.
