[The bioethics principle of autonomy in health professional's perspective]. / O princípio bioético da autonomia na perspectiva dos profissionais de saúde.

This study aimed at analyzing health professionals' understanding of the bioethics principle of autonomy, including issues that involve its utilization. Documents from 13 journals indexed in Latin American and Caribbean Health Sciences Literature (LILACS), published between 2000 and 2004, were analyzed. Results were discussed based on content and category analysis. The following categories emerged: autonomy as a bioethical principle per se, autonomy as rescuing the human person in technical-scientific advancement processes, and autonomy as an instrument for reflection and action. It was concluded that bioethics aids the reflection on professional practices, overcoming the individualism generated by progress, stimulating inter-personal relationships, and defending rights that ensure human dignity.

[Medicine administration: analysis of nursing scientific production]. / Administração de medicamentos: análise da produção científica de enfermagem.

The review had as objective to analyse the nursing scientific production about the medicine administration, during the period from 1999 to 2004. For the search of the articles it was consulted articles of nursing index in Medline and LILACS databases during the period from April to June 2005. It was found 25 articles in 7 journals indexed in Qualis, national and international articles, categories A and B. We chose content analysis and system of categorization. We verified that scientific production is about several aspects, pointing the need of studies about ethics issues. We concluded that care must be expressed taking in consideration the diverse human aspects.

[Nurse experiencing care of patient under parenteral nutrition]. / A enfermeira vivenciando o cuidar do paciente em nutrição parenteral.

It is about a research with the objective of understanding the experience of the nurse in the process of taking care being the caregiver of the patient under parenteral nutrition. We have utilized the Symbolic Interactionism and the Theory Grounded in Data for the theoretical-methodological referral. Ten nurses who have experienced this praxis in a public hospital in the city of Fortaleza, Ceará, have taken part of the study. The data collection was performed through participant observation and semi-structured interview. We have identified the phenomenon that expresses the nurse experiencing the care by showing attitudes, feelings and meanings regarding care.

[When a nurse assesses the care of a patient under parenteral nutrition]. / A enfermeiraavaliando o cuidar do paciente em nutrição parenteral.

The present study aimed at understanding the nurses' experiences by assessing the process of caring for a patient under parenteral nutrition. We used symbolic interactionism and a data-based theory as a theoretical and methodological referential. Ten nurses that experienced this practice in a public hospital in Fortaleza, state of Ceará, took part. Data collection took place during the period from April 1st to December 30th, 2001 through participatory observation and semi-structured interviews. We identified the phenomenon "Assessing the process of caring for a patient under parenteral nutrition" which expresses the nurse's experiences by showing attitude, feelings and meanings for care.
