BACKGROUND: Identify the main stressors of the nursing team in assisting patients in oncology palliative care with suspicions and confirmed for COVID-19. METHODS: Qualitative, descriptive and exploratory study with theoretical framework in the psychodynamics of work, carried out in the emergency and hospitalization sector of a national reference center for cancer treatment in Rio de Janeiro/Brazil. The semi-structured interview was used to collect the data, from April to May 2020. The data were organized and analyzed using the Collective Subject Discourse (CSD) method with the aid of the Qualiquantisoft® software. RESULTS: Twenty members of the nursing team participated (10 nurses and 10 nursing technicians). After the analysis, three CSDs with their respective central ideas (CI) emerged. The CSD software, Qualiquantisoft®, also provided a quantitative analysis of the responses, in which 12 (60%) of the respondents believe that the main stressors are associated with work organization, 6 (30%) of the respondents believe that the main stressors are associated to work relationships and 2 (10%) of respondents believe that the main stressors are associated with working conditions. CONCLUSIONS: The adaptations that took place in the management of care and in the organization of work, to better serve patients in oncology palliative care with suspicions and confirmed for COVID-19, brought greater impact and psychological stress on the nursing team. Considering all the difficulties and influences that the nursing team members are facing in this pandemic moment by COVID-19 associated with palliative oncology care, it is believed that identifying the source of the psychological stress presented by them may contribute to them have a more effective, humanized and holistic care, in addition to spreading knowledge to nursing and other segments of the health area and bringing subsidies to other scientific productions, as well as highlighting the importance of early detection of psychological stress as a way of preventing impacts physical and psychosocial problems caused by work.

RESUMO Introdução: a essência de cuidar é algo inerente à existência humana desde o nascimento até a finitude. Nos ambientes de cuidado em que a enfermagem se encontra inserida é importante enfatizar que o dimensionamento de pessoal está intimamente relacionado com as necessidades dos pacientes cuidados e da qualidade de cuidado que se busca, sendo assim deve levar em consideração a carga de trabalho presente nestas unidades de assistência. Objetivo: analisar as produções acerca da carga de trabalho vivenciada pela equipe de enfermagem no âmbito dos serviços de oncologia. Métodos: revisão integrativa da literatura com consulta às bases de dados: PubMed/MEDLINE, LILACS e CINAHL, com os descritores: carga de trabalho, medida de carga de trabalho, oncologia, enfermagem em oncologia, enfermagem oncológica, cuidados de enfermagem e enfermagem em cuidados críticos. Foram localizadas 74 produções e após a aplicação dos critérios de inclusão e exclusão foram selecionados 8 artigos. Conclusão: os estudos demonstram a importância da avaliação da carga de trabalho de profissionais de enfermagem no ambiente de oncologia, visando melhor dimensionamento de pessoal e consequente aumento de qualidade da assistência prestada em enfermagem oncológica(AU)
RESUMEN Introducción: la esencia de la atención es inherente a la existencia humana desde el nacimiento hasta la finitud. En los centros de atención en los que se inserta la enfermería, es importante destacar que el dimensionamiento del personal está íntimamente relacionado con las necesidades de atención de los pacientes y la calidad de la atención que se busca, y por lo tanto hay que tener en cuenta la cantidad de trabajo existente en estas unidades de asistencia. Objetivo: analizar la producción sobre la carga de trabajo experimentada por el personal de enfermería como parte de los servicios de oncología. Métodos: revisión integradora de la literatura, en consulta con las bases de datos: PubMed / MEDLINE, LILACS y CINAHL, con los descriptores: carga de trabajo, medición de la carga de trabajo, oncología, enfermería oncológica, enfermería oncológica, cuidados de enfermería y de enfermería cuidados críticos. Fueron encontradas 74 producciones después de aplicar los criterios de inclusión y exclusión, se seleccionaron 8 artículos. Conclusión: estos estudios demuestran la importancia de evaluar la carga de las enfermeras que trabajan en el entorno de la oncología a un mejor dimensionamiento de personal y el consiguiente aumento de la calidad de la atención en enfermería oncológica(AU)
ABSTRACT Introduction: The essence of care is inherent to human existence from birth to the finitude. In care settings in which nursing is inserted is important to emphasize that the staff dimensioning is closely related to the needs of patient care and quality of care is sought, and thus must take into account the present workload in these units assistance. Objective: To analyze the production about the workload experienced by nursing staff as part of oncology services. Methods: Iintegrative literature review in consultation with the databases: PubMed / MEDLINE, LILACS and CINAHL, with the descriptors: workload, workload measurement, oncology, oncology nursing, oncology nursing, nursing care and nursing critical care. 74 productions were found after applying the inclusion and exclusion criteria, were selected 8 articles. Conclusion: These studies demonstrate the importance of evaluating the load of nurses working in oncology environment to better sizing of staff and consequent increase in quality of care in oncology nursing(AU)
