The Reflexive Function of Psychoanalytic Interpretation.

The act of interpretation in psychoanalysis has a distinct character due to the discursive structure of the psychoanalytic setting. The discourse that issues from the interplay of the fundamental rule and evenly suspended attention is a reflection on reflection. The result is that interpretation instead of being a device for inquiry is itself the object of inquiry. Psychoanalysis does not use interpretation. It is about interpretation itself. This perspective sheds a certain light on longstanding questions about the form and effects of psychoanalytic interpretation.

Validação da escuta em supervisão psicanalítica / Validation of listening in psychoanalytic supervision / Validación de la escucha en la supervisión psicoanalítica / Rendre l'écoute valable en supervision psychanalytique

Neste trabalho, o autor discute as implicações teóricas e práticas que suscita o processo de supervisão. A partir de suas bases conceituais e de sua experiência, procura superar o impasse epistemológico posto pelo termo supervisão e esclarecer como pode e deve ser validado esse processo. Para demonstrar, na prática, os elementos estruturais e dinâmicos envolvidos, o autor apresenta material clínico de uma sessão de supervisão, no qual teoria e técnica se reúnem como corolário de sua argumentação.

This paper deals with the theoretical and practical implications of the supervisory process. As such, the purpose of this paper is not only to overcome the epistemological impasse that is posed by the term supervision, but also it is to clarify, by using conceptual bases and the author's experience, how this process could and should be validated. In order to demonstrate, in a practical way, the structural and dynamic elements of the process of supervision, the author brings some clinical material of a supervision in which theory and technique come together as a corollary of the purposes of his paper.

Este trabajo analiza las implicaciones teóricas y prácticas que plantea el proceso de supervisión. Como tal, busca superar el punto muerto epistemológico planteado por el término supervisión y aclarar, desde la base conceptual y la experiencia del autor, como puede y debe ser validado este proceso. Para demostrar en la práctica los elementos estructurales y dinámicas que lo componen, el trabajo contiene material clínico de una sesión de supervisión, en el que la teoría y la técnica se unen como un corolario de sus objetivos.

Ce travail discute les implications théoriques et pratiques que suscite le processus de supervision. En tant que tel, non seulement il cherche à surpasser l'impasse épistémologique posé par le mot supervision, mais encore il s'applique à éclaircir - depuis les bases conceptuelles et l'expérience de l'auteur - comment est-il possible et comment faut-il valider ce processus. Pour démontrer, dans la pratique, les éléments structuraux et dynamiques qui la composent, l'étude contient le matériel clinique d'une séance de supervision, dans laquelle la théorie et la technique se joignent comme corolaire de leurs objectifs.

TRANSFERENCE BEFORE TRANSFERENCE.

This paper is predominantly a clinical presentation that describes the transmigration of one patient's transference to another, with the analyst functioning as a sort of transponder. It involves an apparently accidental episode in which there was an unconscious intersection between two patients. The author's aim is to show how transference from one case may affect transference in another, a phenomenon the author calls transference before transference. The author believes that this idea may serve as a tool for understanding the unconscious work that takes place in the clinical situation. In a clinical example, the analyst finds himself caught up in an enactment involving two patients in which he becomes the medium of what happens in session.

Onde começa o corpo? / Where does the body start?

Neste trabalho pretendemos retomar a problemática do lugar do corpo na teoria freudiana com o objetivo de propor uma discussão a respeito da especificidade das condições de escuta do analista diante da presença do corpo na situação analítica. Tomaremos como ponto de partida a instigante questão colocada por Pierre Fédida que, citando Georges Bataille, que sugere que o corpo começa na boca, avança a proposição de que, após a construção freudiana, não se pode mais localizar onde o corpo começa. Para explorar essa questão, pretendemos explicitar o processo de construção da noção de um corpo psicanalítico no pensamento freudiano. Buscaremos demonstrar que a teoria freudiana possui uma abordagem própria do corpo na qual a alteridade é um elemento-chave. E isso tem, certamente, implicações clínicas e metodológicas que possibilitam uma reflexão sobre a natureza da eficácia da escuta analítica diante das diversas for-mas de presença do corpo no sofrimento contemporâneo.

This article aims at revisiting the role of the body in Freud's theory, so as to foster a discussion on the specificity of the listening conditions, by the therapist, in the presence of the body in the analytic situation. We shall take as reference Pierre Fédida's thought-provoking question, in which, by quoting Georges Bataille and his belief that the body starts in the mouth, takes further the proposition that, after the Freudian construction, it is no longer possible to identify where the body starts. In order to look into such subject-matter, we intend to expound on the construction process of the idea of a psychoanalytic body according to Freud. We shall seek to demonstrate that Freud's theory consists of a particular approach concerning the body, in which alterity/otherness accounts for an essential element. Such fact certainly leads to clinical and methodological implications, thus bringing about a reflection into the nature of the efficacy of the analytic listening towards the various types of body presence in contemporary suffering.

Second thoughts on Agieren: listening to the enacted.

The author proposes an expanded notion of the concept of Agieren, introduced by Freud in his theory of transference, and to this effect discusses three metapsychological articulations. Firstly, the idea of the psyche is proposed containing different co-existing modalities of representing emotional experience. One is a verbal inscription governed by the logic of the dynamically repressed, and another is the registration of a mode of being, in the form of sequences of psychic gestures that the subject exchanges with his objects. The author proposes that the psychic gesture is the ideopictographic representation for certain emotional states never verbally thought and, consequently, its metapsychological status is unconscious but not repressed. Secondly, these unconscious registers contain specific modalities of processing reality, created by the projective attribution of the parental unconscious. Finally, by conceiving this model of unconscious, ideopictographically represented as psychic gestures, the author proposes that a patient's emotional state, becoming a psychic gesture of the analytic pair, is enacted within the analytic stage. His proposal departs from the frequent view of enactment as a result of the non-represented aspects of the psyche. It is assumed that what is played out by the analytic pair pertains to the unconscious imaginary represented.
